00:00Today's main event is the New Japan Cup 2020 Tournament Championship Tournament.
00:08We're going to do one round of time.
00:31I think we thought Honma was a little bit easier a test than he turned out to be.
00:37Maybe Hiromu was overlooked again, looking too far down the road.
00:41Either way, he had to exert a lot of energy there.
00:46The matchup with Toriyano in the second round was not so much a physical hurdle, but a mental one.
00:52Emotionally draining after Hiromu remembering all that Toriyano had done to him.
00:58When Hiromu was a young lion, physically torturing him, attacking him with clippers, trying to shave his head.
01:08And getting to the beat on live prime time television.
01:14A dream for Hiromu Takahashi.
01:16He talked about it when he won the Best in Super Junior a couple years ago.
01:22He said this was always a dream to get in Japan to be in that prime time spot.
01:30And he wanted to be the man to do it.
01:33So Hiromu Takahashi now gets that bridge to go.
01:37With the loss-in-go Belna-Blessed Hapom, IWGP Junior Heavy-Q Champion, Ticking Time Bomb, Takahashi Hiromu!
01:51So he overcame Toriyano in the second round, emotionally getting through that one, winning the account out.
01:58But he had to put a lot of effort in last night against Tomohiro Ishii.
02:02That's never an easy night.
02:12Ishii was, before last night, the heaviest man that Hiromu had ever faced in his singles back.
02:19Ishii coming in just over 220 pounds.
02:24But Okada at 236 will be another challenge here.
02:39Okada's third time in the semifinals.
02:44The only time he lost was in the first round.
02:47And he's only competed in a scant few New Japan cups.
02:51Because he was always the target.
02:53He was always the IWGP Heavyweight Champion for the last two years.
02:59Okada, so far, a perfect 8-0.
03:06This will be the first singles match between these two.
03:18Okada's three New Japan Cup matches have averaged 17 minutes and 32 seconds.
03:30You see the height difference between Okada and Hiromu.
03:38So the second semifinal of the New Japan Cup will be Kazuchiko Okada versus the Ticking Time Bomb.
03:45Junior Heavyweight Champion Hiromu Takahashi.
03:54And on paper, you have to give the edge to Okada.
03:57But there is something about Hiromu this year, this time.
04:02Can he capitalize and win?
04:04The bell sounds.
04:08And neither man moves a muscle.
04:12Okada!
04:26Very cautious is Hiromu.
04:29Okada's been in these spots so many times.
04:322019, his singles record 18-3.
04:39While Hiromu was rehabbing a devastating neck injury he suffered in September of 2018.
04:51But now back, and better than ever, Hiromu Takahashi circles and lucks up with Kazuchiko Okada. Here we go.
05:01What?
05:02Let's go!
05:11Nérôme digging in, trying to drive Okada, Okada the leverage with the height edge.
05:24All right, so we'll see as, watch the step over there from Nérôme.
05:36Cautious, both men are, and Okada serving notice about what could come later on, Nérôme will
05:42spin Okada around.
05:46Red Shoes again will ask for a break.
05:48This time Okada wide open, and Hérôme could have a free shot if he wants it, but instead
05:55a clean break.
05:57Now comes forward and clotheslines Okada up against the ropes.
06:02Okada comes forward, swing and a miss, Nérôme's using the quickness here, and head scissors
06:09to take over.
06:14This is a matchup that if both guys had to go, they definitely could move, move, move, there's
06:20no doubt about it.
06:24But each will, I'm sure, be wary of the other as Nérôme kicks that second rope up into the
06:31throat.
06:33Sidestep does Okada, swing and a miss from Okada, now up on the shoulders, perhaps a thought
06:38of Taiman, and already now Okada trying to lock in the Cobra Clutch.
06:45Okada perfect three for three in this tournament with submissions, with that very hold right
06:50there.
06:51And just a couple of minutes in, Hérôme has already been caught.
06:59Only would have a lot of time to fill on live television if that was the case.
07:04And Hirôme escapes, he will escape and retreat to the floor.
07:15Heavy double axe handle to the back.
07:20There's such a calm about Okada and you see his two New Japan Cup wins in 2013 and 2019
07:27as he takes Hirôme and spins him around, a neckbreaker on the floor.
07:34And the three victories for Okada.
07:37Gedo, who tried to attack him with every weapon possible.
07:42Yuji Nagata and then Taiji Ishimori.
07:45One, two, three, four.
07:50So the referee has begun the count.
07:54And we'll see, I'm sure Hérôme will do everything he can to drag himself back into
08:00this ring.
08:05Hirôme's three wins, as we mentioned, over Honba.
08:08Yano will be a count out and then a war with Ishii.
08:13Okada quick catches Hirôme on the way in.
08:20Dumps him hard.
08:22And now a slingshot sentai.
08:27Okada flying in over the top rope.
08:30There has been a air of calm and confidence surrounding Okada throughout this tournament.
08:37Even when Gedo had him in some trouble in the first round.
08:42All via weaponry and outside interference.
08:46Okada never panicked.
08:48Hirôme would overhand chop into the chest.
08:52Hirôme was scared to death when he had to face Toriyano in the second round.
08:57But that all going back to his days as a young lion.
09:00Hirôme were able to outsmart Yano and eventually win via count out.
09:04So at the five minute mark, the neck of Hirôme the target.
09:09And Okada not necessarily targeting the neck of Hirôme, I would believe,
09:13because of the injury suffered by Hirôme a couple of Septembers ago.
09:18But more so as a setup for the Cobra clutch.
09:24Now hearing something from the announcers that caught the ear of Okada.
09:31But Hirôme able to reverse.
09:34And now charging in the boot of Okada is there.
09:41Catching him with a clothesline.
09:43Hirôme basically throwing his body and now this drop kick flying in on a seated Okada.
09:50And Hirôme has put down the former five-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion.
09:55Think about if Okada had won at Wrestle Kingdom.
09:58And both were victorious.
10:00Both he and Hirôme were victorious at New Beginning in Osaka in February.
10:05They would have met champion versus champion in a special singles match at the anniversary event.
10:10But instead Tetsuya Naito defeated Okada on night two of Wrestle Kingdom.
10:16And it was Hirôme that was set to face Tetsuya Naito.
10:19Now again kicking that second rope up into the throat.
10:23And a shotgun drop kick.
10:25That propels Okada all the way out to the floor.
10:28But Hirôme of course was denied that matchup with Tetsuya Naito because of the coronavirus and all the cancellations.
10:36And now he might get the match with Naito if he wins the New Japan Cup.
10:40But it won't be a special singles match.
10:42It would be for both titles.
10:42Here he comes.
10:44Throwing his body.
10:45No regard for his own well-being at all.
10:48And shotgun drop kicking Okada all the way through the gate.
10:52Here's another look.
10:56Absolutely no concern for his own health and well-being there.
11:00Just wanting to do damage to Kazuchika Okada and he did it.
11:08When Hirôme came back on November the 3rd of 2019 and told Will Ospreay,
11:13I'm not changing my style, I'm not doing anything different, but the time bomb is back.
11:20And such was the case with the match we saw at Wrestle Kingdom and then how about when he battled
11:27Ryu Lee in February.
11:30They must have chopped each other a couple of hundred times.
11:36Bodies flying all over the place.
11:38And a return to Osaka Joe Hall not to defend the Junior Heavyweight Championship too.
11:45But Hirôme wants to return to Osaka Joe Hall and fight for the New Japan Cup.
11:51And then the double championship held by Tetsuya Naito.
11:55Okada back in.
11:57Hirôme trying a vertical suplex.
12:02But Okada blocking.
12:09And the forearm from Hirôme.
12:14Let's see if Okada can deny Hirôme.
12:18Yes he will.
12:18Another double axe handle.
12:20Heavy smash in the back.
12:22Thrust kick from Hirôme who stops Okada in his tracks.
12:25And now we're opening up and delivering to the Falcon Arrow.
12:30Here's a cover and a count of two and a kick out.
12:39So Hirôme knows he can measure up with Okada.
12:42He knows he can hang physically with him.
12:43Can Okada keep himself together while Hirôme in his wild crazy reckless style.
12:55And if Okada thinks less of Hirôme because he is a junior heavyweight.
13:01I think he knows right now he cannot take Hirôme lightly.
13:10Okada defeated Taiji Ishimori.
13:13Certainly a great rival of Hirôme's.
13:16To make it to the semifinals.
13:18That match last night.
13:20And now a flapjack here from Okada.
13:22He launches Hirôme up into the lights.
13:25And drives him down.
13:30So Hirôme Takahashi has felt the flapjack that so many others have.
13:42And now Hirôme will pull himself up.
13:45Okada certainly has eyes on him.
13:48And it looks like the Rainmaker is getting ready to go to work.
13:53Here he comes charging in back elbow.
13:56Now watch the DDT.
13:58Yes.
14:00He'll float right over to a cover and a kick out at two.
14:08Ten minutes gone.
14:13And Okada slams Hirôme down.
14:18Now last night when he wrestled Taiji Ishimori, Okada's path to the top was denied by Gato's presence.
14:25But no interference tonight.
14:27Hirôme up on his feet.
14:28Charges forward.
14:29Gets caught with the uppercut form of a waistlocked German.
14:32Don't tell Hirôme Takahashi you're not supposed to do that to Kazuchika Okada.
14:47Hirôme, an incredible student of the game.
14:50You ok?
14:52You ok?
14:53Has really studied his opponents throughout.
14:58And other than Honma who he might have taken a little lightly.
15:02He's had a solid game plan and he seems to have one here with Okada.
15:09He's found some opportunities to take advantage when Okada might turn away.
15:13Might turn his back.
15:16Hirôme has been there.
15:17We just saw that with the German suplex.
15:23And now who's got more on these forearms.
15:29This can really, this is a pivotal moment in this match.
15:36If Hirôme can smash Okada.
15:42He might have the edge but if Okada can support Hirôme here it might be lights out coming soon.
15:53Okada stepping in and cracking him.
16:09Okada stepping in the other and firing back.
16:12An uppercut forearm.
16:17Okada thinking twice before hitting the ropes.
16:21Already been victimized once by turning his back on Hirôme.
16:24Another uppercut.
16:26And now Okada.
16:28Come charge again.
16:30Shotgun drop kick.
16:35So now we'll see after Hirôme came out on the wrong end of that forearm exchange.
16:40Let's see if indeed Kazuchika Okada uses this as the pathway to victory.
16:45How about the leaping ability from Okada.
16:47A drop kick and Hirôme tumbles all the way to the floor.
16:59Hirôme Takahashi feeling that top rope drop kick and let's take another look and you'll see the heavy, heavy impact.
17:07Not just the boots into the chest but then crashing down into the edge of the ring frame and then
17:12to the arena floor.
17:15And now Okada sending Hirôme back first and here he comes.
17:21The boot and driving Hirôme all the way over the railing.
17:31And now Okada.
17:37Red shoes over to check on Hirôme.
17:40Letting both athletes know to get back into the ring.
17:47And now uh oh.
17:49This is problematic for Hirôme.
17:52This draping DDT my god.
17:57The point of Hirôme's head being driven directly into the floor.
18:03And Hirôme Takahashi glassy-eyed as Kazuchika Okada really is on the pathway to victory.
18:17Advancing to his third New Japan Cup final.
18:22Again Okada has only lost once in New Japan Cup competition.
18:28And that was in the first round.
18:30He won in 2013.
18:31He won in 2019.
18:32And here in 2020 when all around us has been chaotic and crazy.
18:42We certainly can count on Okada being as good as it gets in this tournament.
18:47Now Hirôme is about to feel an incredible missile dropkick all the way from the top.
19:02Here's a cover and a count of two and boy the last five minutes have been telling as we're now
19:0715 minutes in.
19:12And the last couple of moments have all been Okada since he came out on top from that forearm exchange.
19:25Getting set to deliver a dropkick to the back of the head.
19:28Hirôme could not see it coming.
19:32And now Okada sending Hirôme across.
19:35Another dropkick no.
19:36Hirôme hanging on to the top rope.
19:38Desperate.
19:38All he could do was hang on.
19:42And now Hirôme comes forward.
19:45Shotgun dropkick of his own.
19:49Okada propelled back into the neutral corner.
19:53Bolt better down.
20:03So Hirôme's last two moves.
20:06Desperate clutch of the top rope.
20:07And then throw his legs as hard as he can.
20:11Charging across the ring directly into the chest of Kazuchika Okada.
20:16Now charging in.
20:19Delivering.
20:21Putting Okada up on the top rope.
20:26Let's see here if Hirôme was able to capitalize.
20:29This is a big ask.
20:31Taking the heavy weight.
20:32Six foot three inch Okada over.
20:36On the ropes here.
20:43And now forearms.
20:45Hirôme may have.
20:48Put himself in a predicament here.
20:51Trying to go for broke.
20:52That go for broke style is what has worked.
20:55So well for Hirôme.
20:56And he said he was never going to change his style.
21:01Overhand chop.
21:02Hirôme's got some hard hands.
21:04Here he comes.
21:05What in the world is he going to do?
21:06How about that?
21:07Shotgun dropkick with Okada sitting on the top rope.
21:11My God.
21:14Another look.
21:15Take a look at this.
21:20Yes Hirôme crashed hard to the mat.
21:22But Okada got the worst of it.
21:34So Kazuchika Okada.
21:36Who had hit a top rope dropkick earlier on.
21:40Now victimized by Hirôme.
21:44And taking time bomb down.
21:46Going sunset bomb.
21:47Going.
21:47Oh my God.
21:48The sunset bomb.
21:53He has tried that throughout the tournament.
21:56But Okada the first victim.
21:58Let's take another look.
22:02Oh what impact.
22:08You hear Okada gasping for breath.
22:15Hirôme's own body taking punishment as well.
22:21But Okada by far got the worst of it.
22:24Oh my goodness.
22:26Six.
22:27Seven.
22:29Eight.
22:31Nine.
22:33Ten.
22:34Eight.
22:36And now Hirôme.
22:37Two.
22:38Not deciding to roll into the ring and perhaps win the account out.
22:42Instead he rolls Okada in.
22:44He does not want an asterisk by this victory.
22:47He does not want to win like he did over Yano by count out.
22:50He wants to beat Okada fair and square in the ring.
22:54And now up on his shoulders.
22:58Dynamite plunger.
23:00Leg hooked.
23:02Two.
23:02And a kick.
23:04Oh my God.
23:05Just barely.
23:14So Hirôme Takahashi now.
23:21Got to be thinking time bomb.
23:23First he's going to look to jam him in the corner.
23:26Okada was ready.
23:27Waist locked.
23:28Hirôme elbows.
23:30Okada desperate to stop Hirôme's momentum here.
23:33Thrust kick.
23:34Okada locked.
23:35Drop kick from Okada instead.
23:37My God.
23:38What recuperative skills.
23:48Let's take another look.
23:49Hirôme moving confidently off the ropes.
23:51But Okada is there with the answer.
23:53The drop kick.
23:55The drop kick that has never failed him.
23:59That has been one of the most consistent weapons in his arsenal.
24:05So five minutes more have elapsed.
24:08We're 20 minutes in.
24:12And the last five minutes certainly favored Hirôme Takahashi.
24:19But as the clock turns past 20.
24:22Now Okada.
24:24Thanks to that drop kick.
24:26The tried and true.
24:27Is on his way.
24:31And a tombstone pile driver.
24:33No answer.
24:34No counter.
24:34From Hirôme there.
24:38And instead of going for the Rainmaker.
24:40Instead throughout this tournament.
24:43And once again he's locked in the Cobra Clutch.
24:52The arms wrapped around the carotid arteries.
24:55That run alongside the neck.
24:57Cutting off the blood flow to the brain.
24:59Causing unconsciousness to set in.
25:06Now wait a second.
25:07Using the hair as leverage.
25:09Hirôme jams Okada into the turnbuckle.
25:22So Okada who has not missed with that.
25:27Cobra Clutch throughout this tournament.
25:30Hirôme was able to fight out of it.
25:33And drive Okada into the corner.
25:46Now up on the shoulders.
25:48Does he go timebomb?
25:49Does he go timebomb?
25:50He has to think about it.
25:53Thrust kick again.
25:56Another effort.
25:57If he hits this.
25:59He'll move on.
26:00Wait a second.
26:01Okada rolls out.
26:03Shotgun drop kick there.
26:04Hiromu on his feet.
26:06Charges forward.
26:07Clothesline.
26:08Okada doesn't go down.
26:09Here we go.
26:13Wait a second.
26:14Trying to Rainmaker.
26:15My God.
26:15He just hit it with a Rainmaker.
26:19Oh come on.
26:22Here we go up on the shoulders.
26:24Here we go up on the shoulders.
26:27Timebomb.
26:28Timebomb.
26:29One.
26:30Two.
26:31Whoa.
26:39Referee confirming the two.
26:41With the timekeeper and the announcers.
26:44That it was two and only two.
26:46But my God you cannot get any closer.
26:48Go.
26:50Our name is a Sharo.
27:01We are going to leave the table.
27:01So what does Hiromu do now?
27:05They will take the most threat in the world.
27:10I am so sorry.
27:11My God.
27:11I am so sorry.
27:12The other thing is I am so sorry.
27:12I am so sorry.
27:13I am so sorry.
27:17I am so sorry.
27:21Now Hiromu pulling him up.
27:23Oh, we saw him just last night, wait a second, no.
27:27Okada, spinning right, make your no.
27:29Traps him with D.
27:33But the strength of Okada!
27:38Hiromu keeps hold, now rolling his shoulders down, two!
27:46Wheelbarrow, drives him down.
27:54Hiromu Takahashi, now on the doorstep.
27:58This would be a monumental upset,
28:00that the junior heavyweight champion
28:02defeating the five-time former heavyweight champion.
28:06And it would happen on live national television
28:09all across Japan.
28:10And all the fans worldwide here on njpwworld.com.
28:16Dropkick!
28:19Hiromu's on his feet though.
28:21And he clobbers Okada with a clothesline.
28:24Okada just can't stop Hiromu.
28:39Just when you think Okada has found a way through,
28:43Hiromu stops him time and time again.
28:47And now watch this, this is nasty.
28:52And Okada prevents it, and a jumping tombstone instead.
28:59But Okada can't follow up.
29:0425 minutes have elapsed.
29:12And now with Hiromu in the center of the ring.
29:15The cobra clutch applied again.
29:21Both men have to be exhausted.
29:26Okada's squeezing.
29:32And Hiromu getting back to his feet, getting back to his feet.
29:36He's found another way to escape, folks.
29:41Spitting brain maker, how about that?
29:47So now Okada will go back once again to the cobra.
29:53And this time after the spinning brain maker,
29:56I'm not sure Hiromu has the ability to get out again.
30:05Hiromu looks like he's fading, looks like he's fading.
30:11If the referee doesn't get a response, wait a second.
30:15Okada letting him go.
30:17And now Okada, a familiar position here with wrist control.
30:22Harris him with a ring maker.
30:26Maintains wrist control, does Kazuchika Okada.
30:29So he's won three matches in the New Japan Cup via the Cobra clutch.
30:33But he has saved this for the semi-finals.
30:37Brain maker.
30:40And now back to the cobra again.
30:45Not going for the pin,
30:47instead wanting to submit Hiromu in another match via submission.
30:56And a vice-like grip across the corona guard race.
31:01Red Shoes may not get an answer, and no.
31:03He will call for the bell.
31:05It's a stoppage.
31:06Okada has done it again.
31:07In 27 minutes, Okada Kazuchika won the win.
31:11What a war.
31:13What an absolute war between Okada and Hiromu.
31:20The winner of this match.
31:22This is the winner of the NJJC tournament tournament tournament tournament tournament.
31:29On March 11, the tournament tournament tournament tournament tournament is
31:35Okada Kazuchika vs. Eagle.
33:13certainement supersede
33:15tout de l'hors
33:16et quand on peut voir
33:18les efforts de Hiromu
33:19dans ce tournoi
33:22et parler de ce qu'il était
33:24je suis sûr
33:25c'est un peu de décembre
33:28pour l'IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion
