00:01D.O.C., Wesley, here on the Burgundy and Gold postgame show.
00:07This is not for the faint of heart.
00:10This is not what I anticipated.
00:12I thought I'd be basking in victory.
00:15In the champagne of success, and now I am just so irritated that I could scream.
00:23Kevin out in Harlington, make some sense of this.
00:27So, Doc, it's pretty simple.
00:28We are winless in a winnable division.
00:32We can't block or cover consistently.
00:35We have a spare $40 million in cap space sitting off to the end.
00:39This is as much on Peterson Quinn as it is on the players.
00:43They're all guilty.
00:44We blew a late two-touchdown lead after overcoming the corrupt call that overturned the pick.
00:52Okay?
00:53Look, here's how it's going to go, Doc, in the offseason.
00:55Josh Harris is going to sit down with Adam and Dan.
00:59And it's going to be like that scene in The Godfather.
01:01And Adam's going to say, is my credit good enough to buy you two out?
01:04And I'm going to say, what do you mean?
01:06I said, you think we're not getting the job done?
01:09I think you're unlucky.
01:10Remember Michael Corleone?
01:12I think you're unlucky.
01:13You're unlucky.
01:14They're inept.
01:15They're not good enough.
01:16We have a model, and they play at cap one, and they play hockey.
01:21That's how you own.
01:22That's how you GM.
01:24That's how you coach.
01:25I'm done.
01:26I'm actually happy.
01:28We will not get changed without them continually soiling the sheets.
01:33So, that's where I'm at, Doc.
01:36I'm ready to go.
01:37Hopefully you'll be with us by next week.
01:38I understand right now you're irritated, and I get it.
01:42But right now, because of the fact that nobody seems like they want this division,
01:48it's not like we're out of anything.
01:49We've got to stop beating ourselves.
01:52But I've seen it much worse, believe it or not.
01:55I really have.
01:56So, we've got to move forward.
01:57Rod, out in Columbia, you are next.
02:00Welcome to the Bergen Post game.
02:02Hey, great.
02:03Thanks so much, man.
02:04So, I just think there are a couple of things that I just wanted to highlight.
02:06I think we were out, Coach.
02:08I'll give you three quick things that I was thinking about.
02:10I wrote down.
02:11The first one is, obviously, we should have kicked.
02:15I mean, I think we were probably right around their 25-yard line.
02:19And I was just talking to my wife.
02:20I was like, we should kick.
02:23Basically, we made the same mistake the Giants did.
02:26Except they, Scadaboo, fumbled.
02:28I think we should have done that.
02:29I dare anybody to blame Jaden Daniels for that, because that wasn't his fault at all.
02:33So, that's number one.
02:34That was coaching error at the end.
02:36That's not even number one.
02:37That's number 50.
02:38The other thing is, obviously, we had no pass rush.
02:42I mean, I could blame the secondary, but for crying out loud, Winston had forever.
02:47And he was hitting those seams, you know, just doing what they needed to do.
02:51So, no pass rush.
02:53And the secondary was exposed.
02:54And then, finally, why didn't we employ a short passing game?
02:58Like you said, they were just doing the zero blitz on us every time.
03:01And Daniels got a hurt elbow.
03:04Let him get the ball off.
03:05We could have slowed down their pass rush with screens, which they didn't do until overtime.
03:10So, as far as I'm concerned, there were just a lot of coaching miscues.
03:15The coaches cost us this game.
03:17In a sudden-death situation, you kick when you have the opportunity.
03:21And we just saw what the Giants did.
03:24They fumbled away their opportunity to win.
03:26And we could have just, we were right in the middle of the hashes, just let the guy kick a
03:3042-yard field goal to end the game.
03:33And you know, and I understand the frustration, it always seems easier to deal with after the fact.
03:40I understand your frustration.
03:41I get it.
03:42We had opportunities throughout the ballgame, and we just failed to cash in.
03:47We failed to get the job done.
03:49Appreciate the call.
03:49Atlanta is our next stop.
03:51Tony, welcome to postgame.
03:54Hey, Doc.
03:55Good afternoon.
03:57Listen, I am a lifelong, when I say lifelong, lifelong Washington football fan.
04:05And I'm 65 years old.
04:07I remember when they hired George Allen.
04:11I remember how he came in, how we were going to do, how we thought we were going to be
04:16able to do.
04:16And so I've watched a lot of football.
04:19And I got to tell you, I've never been more frustrated than I am right now.
04:23And the reality is, this coach and this GM have been drafting off the 2024 year in mediocrity.
04:36And I'm hoping that our owner recognizes that these guys are just mid, right?
04:43It's time for these guys to go.
04:45It's time for us to stop wasting people's time.
04:48You know, people are spending money going across the pond.
04:52You know, I spent money.
04:53I can't tell you how much money I spent when the commanders came to Atlanta.
04:58And it's just ridiculous, right?
05:01It's time for our owner to pull the plug on this experience.
05:08Thank you very much, sir.
05:10Appreciate you, Tony.
05:10Yeah.
05:11Look, it's normal to be frustrated.
05:14Believe me, I am so irritated now.
05:16Now, I just, I'm almost shocked, even at my age and as many of these games that I've witnessed,
05:24because I just had that feeling throughout the broadcast.
05:26We were good enough to get it done.
05:28I thought we were on the verge of it.
05:30We had some guys that had Herculean efforts.
05:32The efforts, I don't want to compromise the efforts.
05:36Our guys threw out some outstanding efforts.
05:38But it wasn't enough to win.
05:40We have to focus on winning, not performances, but winning.
05:44The object is to win the game, and we fail to do that.
05:48District of Columbia, Tony, you're next.
05:49Welcome.
05:51Aries, Tony, Doc.
05:52I'm livid, man.
05:53I'm very livid, because, simple fact, man, when we, when we, when they came back and we
05:59had the eight-point lead, why in the world we was playing, it seemed like we played scared
06:04ball, like we, we were scared to throw a screen pass.
06:07We was running the ball, and they were so predicting what we was doing.
06:11They called a pass interference on Robinson.
06:13That was not a pass interference.
06:16I mean, even at home, we was not even getting the call.
06:19So, this is, it's so frustrating.
06:22And how in the hell, coaches, y'all not looking at the clock, not seeing the time or something
06:27like that, so we can kick the field goal and still giving, hiking the ball to Jayden and
06:32trying to make a miraculous play.
06:34Man, this is so, man, I'm at a loss for words right now, Doc.
06:39You know, we have seen games before.
06:41I get it.
06:42We have seen games before.
06:43And this is, this is unacceptable.
06:46Very unacceptable.
06:48And if I was Josh Allen, I'd be calling somebody really tonight.
06:53Now, I ain't waiting until tomorrow morning.
06:55And ask me, what the hell y'all doing?
06:58This is crazy, man.
06:59Yeah.
07:00That's all I need to say, Doc.
07:01You got it.
07:01The good news is that Cowboys, Eagles, are lost.
07:06And so, there is some, Azania, thanks for calling.
07:10What's on your mind?
07:12Doc.
07:13Doc.
07:13Yes, sir.
07:14Doc.
07:15I'm at a loss for, everyone's at a loss for words.
07:18I'm going to try to put it together like this.
07:20I mean, I said this earlier in the week.
07:23I called Kevin and I told him.
07:25I said, listen.
07:26Coach, you're trying to be called Coach Ian.
07:30Oh, correct.
07:31Coach Ian.
07:32Coach Ian.
07:33Yeah.
07:34I talked to him earlier and I said, listen, we have seen darker days, right?
07:40The problem we have is that we have, we have a Lamborghini in the driveway and we have a
07:51student driver at the wheel.
07:52And I say that because Adam Peters, when you come into a room, you got to be able to establish
08:01where
08:01you are and act accordingly.
08:03We have the Lamborghini and Jayden, but instead of getting a qualified driver, we're letting
08:11the car do all the work, meaning they're putting too much on the young man's shoulders to be the
08:18savior of a franchise instead of when you look at all the other rookies drafted in his
08:24class.
08:25Look at all of the weapons and all of the things that they've done to support that rookie
08:31quarterback.
08:32Our franchise has done everything the opposite.
08:35We've put everything on the rookie quarterback at that time, Jayden Daniels, to be the savior
08:42of our franchise.
08:43The young man told us at the beginning of the season, he said, man, I haven't played football
08:49in so long.
08:50It's just good to get back out there.
08:53He's been hurt.
08:54He's just coming back and getting into the swing of things.
08:58So you can't blame him when he's got the whole franchise on his back and then he has a lapse
09:06in judgment for a second, but you can blame the people who put him in that position to carry
09:12the whole franchise when they're not doing their part.
09:15The coach, if you're not calling the defense, you're not calling the offense, then you've
09:21got to be a game manager.
09:22This is two weeks in a row where the management of the game has completely failed the team
09:29and put them in compromising position.
09:32That's Dan Quinn.
09:34Like the other caller said, you've got $40 million in cap space, yet you didn't want to
09:39pay a couple extra million for a bona fide A-plus starter at center, which would have solidified
09:46your whole season ailments to thus far.
09:49So it's an organizational failure.
09:53And like the guy said, they're mid.
09:55The hope is that we've gotten from an owner who's destructive, but now that we have the
10:01proper structure in place, we just have to get the proper people within those positions.
10:07Yeah, we've got to weather the storm, and under any circumstances that when you don't win,
10:13everything that you say has some merit, but they've got to all be collected and be together.
10:18You're not going to win because of one facet.
10:20They've got to all be together.
10:22They played well enough to have won, but they didn't.
10:25And we've got to figure out why.
10:27We've got to stop beating ourselves, and we were just as responsible for some of those
10:32errors as the opponent was.
10:34Line one, Jonesy, K-9, welcome home.
10:40Keep with the K-9s, man.
10:42I'm pissed off.
10:44I just want to say this, right?
10:46As far as it goes with who we got on the team right now, that's besides the point.
10:52I want to talk situational ball.
10:55I've seen what was there all day.
10:57A slant route was sitting there all day to be had.
11:00We didn't take advantage of it.
11:02It was just maybe a time or two.
11:04Also, the middle of the field, wide open when they were sitting in the blitz.
11:09We didn't take advantage of it.
11:10Boom, missed opportunities.
11:13End of the game.
11:14That situational.
11:16Rookie O.C. mistake there.
11:20The head coach has to be in the rookie O.C.'s head to let him know.
11:24We cannot be running the ball in this situation here this close to the goal line to kick us a
11:32field goal to win the damn game.
11:37That was the problem.
11:39We don't need to be running the ball and putting it on J.D. 5 to pull out some magical,
11:45mystical stuff when it's very simple here to just line it up, toss this thing from side to side, to
11:54get to the last down, to kick the field goal.
11:59To win the game, you had the distance.
12:05We let the Giants off the hook.
12:07Yeah, there's no guarantee that he would have made it, but I get your point in terms of that's what
12:12they're paid to do.
12:13Go over these things, not us, but them.
12:17It's called situational football.
12:18Football, and I know they go over it, and I know they rehearse it, and over and over, but you
12:22never know until you're in that situation, and you've got to be clutch.
12:27And we had an opportunity there, and we let it slip away.
12:31I feel you.
12:32Oklahoma's our next stop on line 7.
12:35John, welcome home.
12:37Hey, Doc, you take the end of the half at Dallas game, you take the end of this game, and
12:43I tell you, that ain't a full-blown shit show.
12:45Excuse my language.
12:46I don't know what is.
12:47How do you guys get a professional coaching job doing that?
12:51They had the ball on the 25-yard line.
12:53They just kept letting it tick, tick, tick.
12:55And, Doc, when that quarterback's running like he ran today, there's something wrong.
12:59He can't run.
12:59Your quarterback can't run like that.
13:00We know that.
13:01They got a lot of holes.
13:02They got to fix.
13:03But one thing starts at the top and goes downhill.
13:07Man, I've been watching forever, 55 years.
13:10I don't even know, man.
13:11And I'll tell you, I don't know.
13:14No, you do know.
13:15It's normal.
13:17You know what that reminded me of?
13:18It reminded me of that game against the Bears.
13:20We had them up there that day, that night against the Bears.
13:22That's the same thing.
13:23He fumbles the ball.
13:24That's not.
13:25You know, prosperity, we can't handle prosperity.
13:28You know what?
13:29That's what we can't handle.
13:31Yeah, brother.
13:32Hello?
13:32Congratulations on yesterday, Red River.
13:35And enjoy your wins.
13:38Line six, we go.
13:39Willie, what's on your mind?
13:41Hey, what's up?
13:44Oh, man.
13:45You know what's up.
13:46It hurts.
13:47It hurts.
13:48It hurts.
13:48It hurts.
13:49Yeah, it's supposed to hurt.
13:50Oh, my God.
13:50I mean, if you care, it's supposed to hurt.
13:54All of this, we don't.
13:55I mean, we do this because we care.
13:57At this point, yeah, at this point, oh, my God, my throat's even just, you know, gone.
14:03Doc, I don't know, Doc.
14:05Is it the – no.
14:07Hey, Daniels, just make sure whatever you do, don't take a sack.
14:12Come on.
14:14Come on.
14:15Is that Quinn?
14:15They should have said that.
14:16I don't know.
14:17I don't know, Doc.
14:18You tell me.
14:20Well, that's what makes these games so interesting, these situations.
14:26I'll never get that image out of my mind of the Giants that are cheerful.
14:31They feel like they won, and they did win because they avoided losing.
14:35And they knew they got off the hook.
14:36We let them off the hook, and we had it there.
14:39And that's supposed to be a W, and they're hard to get, especially at home.
14:43I think we would have had a streak going.
14:45We beat them the last five times that we played them.
14:48And when you can crush and dominate an opponent within your division, I mean,
14:53that's how you build on this.
14:55I mean, knowing that what happened to Philly and Dallas,
14:58this is an opportunity to have made up more than just one game.
15:03But that's what makes this so great, man.
15:05You had it.
15:06You let it go.
15:07And it's not the end of the season.
15:09I mean, you still got a lot to go, and you got one next week that could even be tougher.
15:15And that's what this league is all about.
15:18And you got to lick your wounds.
15:19You got to get over it.
15:20You got to understand why it happened.
15:22And if you don't evaluate why and try to figure out some solutions, guess what?
15:28It could happen again next week and the week after that.
15:31And that's the sad part about it.
15:33It's tough.
15:36It's tough.
15:39I can't tell you the feeling.
15:41Wes and I were sitting there, and you're watching this.
15:44It's just a weird feeling.
15:46I know rules modification now.
15:48First team scored.
15:48They made some changes now, so both teams have an opportunity.
15:52You can have a tie.
15:54I don't know if I liked it better the old way.
15:56But either way it goes, we had an opportunity, and we failed to cash in on it.
16:02Wes, I don't know any other way to tie that knot together.
16:05No, but you hit it.
16:06I mean, Jameis Winston, he dropped back 52 times.
16:10He passed for 300 yards.
16:11I thought the passing game could have done better.
16:14But at times, the run game, especially near the goal line, they did a fantastic job.
16:19Sonny Stiles had a good game.
16:20But it's this offense that, once again, I think John made a great point.
16:26It reminds us of the Bears from last year, and they fell.
16:32I cannot believe that there was as much time on the clock as there was.
16:37And they're so nonchalant about it.
16:40You know you already used two timeouts.
16:43You used one of them on defense, and you used one of them the last time you had the ball.
16:46You said they know.
16:47I say they didn't know.
16:48Well, then that's coaching.
16:50Then you just answered the question for me.
16:52Yeah, that's situational preparation.
16:55There's a reason that Q slammed that clipboard down at the end.
16:59Is it not his fault?
17:01No, because he knows that that's their situation.
17:04That's something that his people should have been aware of.
17:08He showed you full responsibility for that the way he crashed that clipboard.
17:14Because that's their responsibility to make sure.
17:16You had the receivers jogging back.
17:19They had no clue.
17:20That was wild to me.
17:22Right?
17:22They sent those guys towards the end zone.
17:26Yeah.
17:27That was wild.
17:28I had never seen anything like that.
17:30Yeah.
17:31So it's not just one person that was not clued in.
17:35It was several people.
17:36They're all in this.
17:37Coach, this is all the time.
17:38They're all in this thing together.
17:39There's no one person because if you stop that film, you see people looking like they thought they had a
17:47time out.
17:48Yeah.
17:48They thought that means that, and that's every stinking person on the offensive unit, whether you suited up or not,
17:56you were in those meetings.
17:57That should have been discussed before the ball was even snapped.
18:01That's one of the things that your quarterback's saying in a huddle.
18:04I mean, the players should, like, situational awareness also for the players.
18:09You're talking about even the guys on the sideline.
18:11Diggs.
18:13Everybody.
18:14Everybody.
18:15You don't separate this.
18:17They're all in those meetings together.
18:19That's one of the things that you could say, well, we talk about this before we break this huddle.
18:24Look, we got no timeouts.
18:26We have 48 seconds, no timeouts.
18:28Bingo.
18:28Bingo.
18:29It's situational.
18:30Why is that not said in the huddle?
18:31It should be said in the huddle.
18:33Well, clearly it wasn't because their body language shows you.
18:37They weren't tired.
18:39They weren't.
18:39They didn't.
18:40They thought.
18:41They acted as if.
18:42We got a timeout.
18:43I mean, I thought Jaden was just going to throw the ball out, but then he takes the sack, which
18:48was wild to me, because that's it.
18:51Him not throwing the ball.
18:55It's on him as well.
18:56Yeah, it looks easy from our standpoint.
18:58Don't blow.
18:58Yeah, you sit up here sticking a hot dog down your throat, guzzling beer.
19:01It's easy.
19:02From their standpoint, that's on them.
19:04Now, it'll be interesting what postgame brings out of this.
19:09I sure hope I don't hear people pointing fingers and passing the buck, because if they do that, then they're
19:16done.
19:18You want to splinter a team and end your season, start passing the buck.
19:24I can't wait to hear the reaction from the locker room.
19:28That'll be important to me.
19:30As a matter of fact, let's see if we can get some espionage going right here on the break.
19:34Burgundy and Gold postgame show.
19:36301-230-0980 is the number.
19:39We're taking your calls right here on the team.
