Delhi Police and paramilitary forces detained approximately 150 protesters outside Connaught Place's inner circle, preventing demonstrators from entering to unfurl the national flag. A CJP spokesperson acknowledged the leadership's preventive detention as a setback but insisted the movement remains resilient across multiple leadership tiers in smaller towns. Addressing government curbs, the spokesperson cited the Supreme Court's 2018 MKSS ruling, stating that authorities cannot abruptly denotify Jantar Mantar as a designated protest site.

00:00I just want to tell our viewers the latest update that's coming in and then you'll understand the marked difference
00:04of 10th October and today.
00:06Till now, only 150 detentions have taken place, while if you remember, on the 10th of October, the detentions have
00:12crossed 7,000.
00:13So, 150 detentions that have taken place, mostly people have been allowed to come in.
00:19Some of them continue to squat right outside the inner circle, while some of them who try in groups to
00:27move towards the inner circle,
00:29those are the groups that are being detained.
00:31So, there is decorum that seemingly is being maintained, while you've had the paramilitary forces and the Delhi police very
00:38clear that nobody enters the inner circle.
00:41And the original call, once again I'll take you back to it, was for people to gather in the inner
00:47circle at 5 p.m. of Cunot Place and unfurl the Tiranga, the tricolor.
00:53What you see anecdotally, yes, you continue to see a lot of people who come from all walks of life
00:59of their own volition,
01:00but the numbers are not as much as possibly they were on the 10th and the 11th.
01:06And the sheer fact, some would say it was a good strategy on the part of the administration to leave
01:12any crowds to come into the inner circle.
01:16So, you really don't know what the crowd really is that is coming to protest or those who have just
01:20come in,
01:21because Cunot Place attracts a fair amount of crowds from the national capital.
01:25I want to bring back the CJP spokesperson and we'll go back to all our panelists one by one.
01:32And the question I will ask you again, what's the next course of action?
01:35Your entire leadership, Pranav, now is in, you know, preventive custody.
01:41Yes.
01:42What now?
01:43Before I answer your question,
01:45Because people who you gave a clarion call to, some of them are still waiting.
01:49Waiting, hoping to know what next.
01:52Yes, we are in touch with each and every volunteer of ours.
01:55But before I answer your specific question,
01:57let me answer some very pertinent points which have been made by Rajat and Charuji.
02:03The government of this day has to run as per the constitution of India,
02:07not by its own whims and fancies.
02:09Their definition of what is law and what is order, what is the procedure,
02:13will not be the one that the Supreme Court of India or the people of this country shall follow.
02:17They cannot one day wake up and denotify Jantar Mantar,
02:19which has been a designated protest site for a long period of time.
02:23The Supreme Court of India in 2018 in the MKSS judgment has made it very clear
02:26that the people's voice has to be heard.
02:29People cannot be out of sight, out of mind for the government of the day.
02:33Therefore, when we talk about rule of law,
02:36we have to talk about what the judiciary decides is the rule of law
02:38and what the people of this country have signed up for.
02:41People of this country have signed up to live in a constitutional democracy
02:43and not to live in the lala land of a tin pot dictator.
02:48To answer your specific question about the movement,
02:51this is a movement which is run by the principles of Mahatma Gandhi.
02:55Today was, in a way, a setback.
02:58Today was a setback.
02:59It is a setback that our top leadership is in jail.
03:01But this is a very resilient movement.
03:03We have second, third, fourth, fifth layers of leadership.
03:06Our leadership is not just sitting in Delhi and Bangalore and in fancy studios.
03:10Our leadership is living in small towns of Sumastipur, Nursingpur and Trichy.
03:16These are the people who are the non-topper classes of this country,
03:19who have not had a fair chance, who are frustrated with their life.
03:22And they have shown that when cockroaches come out,
03:24they roar and they will and they shall win.
