00:00Heart me tiranga, dil me regime change, like in Bangladesh, is that what we want in India?
00:08Do we realize the importance and the significance of our tricolor, of our tiranga?
00:15Our tiranga, that symbolizes our nation, our pride.
00:20There is now an intense debate across the nation over the protesters.
00:25Are they gradually moving towards a new phase, like in Bangladesh?
00:32Is that the ultimate aim?
00:34Regime change through street protests, keep the students in front,
00:38and then you have radical Islamist organizations like Jamaat-e-Islami, that they will move forward.
00:45Leaders of this unrest, are they truly inspired by what happened in Bangladesh?
00:51Students out in the front, and radical Islamist engineering a regime change,
00:57that operation to our Sheikh Hasina, and then the systematic targeting of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh.
01:04Is that what we want to see in our country?
01:07Watch these images on your television screen.
01:11This is what is happening in the national capital.
01:14But on this broadcast, we will also show you images from Bangladesh.
01:19Is that an inspiration for Neha Bora, a student leader, who's being mainstreamed?
01:27These are images from Bangladesh.
01:30Is this what we want in India?
01:34Is this the inspiration for the leaders of this so-called students' movement in India?
01:41This is what we want in our country?
01:44Remember that image, that image of Neha Bora being mainstreamed in that march to Supreme Court?
01:52Is that the ultimate aim in India?
01:55We need to open our eyes.
01:57We need to wake up to what's happening around us.
02:00India has witnessed weeks of protest, political confrontation, and mounting disruption.
02:05But the bigger question is, is this dissent to defend democracy or a push to destabilize our economy?
02:16Traders, for example, are up in arms.
02:19Losses, they say, are mounting.
02:21Today, in the heart of the national capital, the city was paralyzed yet again.
02:26Kaukrat Janata Party founder, Abhijit Deepke, he announced a march to Connaught Place with a tiranga.
02:34He was detained by the police.
02:37AISA chief Neha Bora, she too sought to join this march.
02:40She too was detained near Monday House.
02:43But for weeks now, protests by the Congress, other opposition parties, Kaukrat Janata Party, AISA,
02:51they've repeatedly disrupted the flow in the national capital.
02:57Abhijit Deepke says he was stopped from unfurling the tricolor in his own country.
03:03Delhi police insist permission was denied, citing possible traffic disruption,
03:09inconvenience to commuters, and risk of crowd spilling into sensitive areas.
03:15And that they had concerns that narrow lanes could impede movement of either emergency vehicles or ambulances.
03:23This actually brings a larger question to the fore.
03:26Where does the right to protest stand?
03:30And where do the limits of that right actually begin?
03:34Because India's constitution, it guarantees freedom of speech and expression.
03:39Yes, India's constitution guarantees a right to assemble peacefully without arms.
03:45But neither right gives you unlimited power to do what you think you want to.
03:52Take for example, Article 19.
03:54It permits reasonable restriction under specified conditions.
03:58So this Section 153 of the BNSS empowers authorities to impose urgent restrictions
04:04to prevent danger and public disorder.
04:08That balance was actually examined by the Supreme Court of India.
04:13And Supreme Court of India, in the year 2020, in the Shaheen Bagh proceedings,
04:18during a wider debate over protests in public spaces,
04:22the court made it clear that the right to protest cannot translate into an indefinite occupation of public roads.
04:30And that the right of protesters must be balanced against the right of citizens of this country,
04:36other citizens of this country.
04:38The principle is straightforward.
04:41Dissent is democratic.
04:44But public spaces cannot be held hostage indefinitely.
04:48At the same time, restrictions must also operate within the ambit of the law.
04:56And here is where the political battle actually sharpens.
04:59The focus now shifts from street protests to opposition leaders and activists invoking the language of regime change.
05:11Is that what we want in India?
05:14And not through the ballot or through the ballot is that big debate.
05:19Congress Member of Parliament, Pawan Khera, spoke of defeating the government and changing the system through elections.
05:26Imran Masood declared that the regime must change.
05:31Lawyer Prashant Bhushan has openly called this fight a fight for regime change.
05:38A democratic right, he clarified.
05:41The government on its part is questioning the intentions of the Congress, the opposition parties, civil society members who are
05:51joining hands.
05:52Take for example, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
05:55He said that the objective is Bangladesh-style regime change and anarchy in India.
06:03BJP President Nitin Nabeen has accused the opposition of pursuing an agenda to destabilize India's growth story.
06:12Smriti Rani, in an exclusive conversation with me, insisted any change in India will happen only through the ballot
06:20and destabilization process or any regime change, through other means, will not happen in India.
06:29She's confident the BJP will win 2027 Uttar Pradesh elections.
06:34She said so in response to a question.
06:36And Union Home Minister Amit Shah, he says, look at this opposition.
06:41The government will win 2029 elections too.
06:45The bigger question today, how can those who claim to defend democracy invoke regime change against a democratically elected government?
06:562014, 2019, 2020, 2024 and state elections.
07:00You win some, you lose some, but you fight.
07:04Is this a fight at the ballot box or is this an attempt to tarnish the system and then destabilize
07:14the system?
07:15We'll debate that.
07:16We'll get you all sides of the story.
07:18But first, listen in to this very intense war of words between the government and the opposition.
07:30We'll get you all sides of the government and the opposition.
08:00We'll talk about theопрос as such.
08:06We'll try to live some.
08:09We've done a lot.
08:11We'll try to live some.
08:13We'll bloody and love any other possible mistakes.
08:15We'll be able to live some.
08:15We'll find ourselves in the future.
08:16But the government is hiding.
08:18Some of us have to live some,
08:19and that we'll come out,
08:19that we'll please improve our wcześniej down future all нашей tries.
08:21TheIntvolt 신 will be homeless.
