00:00What the hell are you blathering about?
00:01I'm trying to take my afternoon beauty nap.
00:04I used to jump off half stacks in six inch heels,
00:06and now if I have the wrong pillow,
00:08I'm screwed for a week.
00:39Oh, hi, how you doing?
00:42Welcome to our lovely home.
00:44So years and years ago,
00:45we were touring in recreational vehicles,
00:48going through like seven alternators,
00:50you know, fan belts every day.
00:52So I think we've been doing pretty good over the years.
00:54We finally upgraded to a bus.
00:56We're out here with Babymetal and Violent Vera.
00:59It's the second day of tour.
01:01It's amazing.
01:02And promoting our latest record, Everest.
01:06And let me show you around.
01:08This is our main cabin.
01:10This is where we hang out the most.
01:13Very important.
01:14We have our sugar fix over here.
01:16We have all sorts of candy.
01:17We did achieve a VHS tape that we don't think
01:20we're going to be able to watch on this tour,
01:23you know, but we'll figure it out.
01:25So this is completely split out.
01:26This comes back in kind of like a fun house.
01:29It's a little narrower for the road because, you know,
01:31you don't want to be going on the highway with this thing.
01:32It's kind of, you know, it's dangerous.
01:34It's kind of illegal too, so we don't do that.
01:36We got our TVs here.
01:38We don't do a whole lot of TV watching,
01:40but occasionally we'll do movie nights.
01:41But it's usually like, you know, Wayne's World
01:44or something like that, or the Big Lebowski,
01:46almost famous, that kind of thing.
01:48So let's see, we got our sink thing over here.
01:52We got, oh, let's see what's in the fridge actually.
01:54Got some lunch meat, got some yogurt.
01:56So we get a ride every day.
01:58We get like snacks and bananas and lots of water.
02:02Diet Cokes, we have definitely a Diet Coke problem.
02:04It's happening.
02:07And there's usually different stuff for bus stock.
02:10Years ago, we were fine with just like tortilla chips
02:13and peanut butter, but now everyone's kind of got
02:16their specific things.
02:17We got some cottage cheese.
02:19The boys and everybody kind of really love these,
02:23these little Siggy's yogurt packs.
02:27Let's see what else, oh yeah.
02:28Gotta have the liquid death.
02:30Something about having the water in a can.
02:32It just hits different.
02:33Like I said, the Diet Coke problem.
02:35Then if you go to water, it's gotta be a can.
02:37It's just a natural reaction.
02:39Lunch meat.
02:41Apparently we have blueberries.
02:42I'm not quite sure.
02:43No one's touched the blueberries yet,
02:45but I don't know who does the coffee mate though.
02:48None of the boys or I do the coffee mate.
02:50So we're gonna have to talk to one of our growing boys about that.
02:53Oh, I actually don't know what this is.
02:56We got leftovers, I think, from somebody.
03:00What's this?
03:01Oh, we got lemon cakes.
03:03Oh, I think that's from a fan.
03:04So we got, sometimes we get fan treats and then,
03:07and then we get, we forget we have them.
03:09And then it's fries, fan treats.
03:11Let's see what else.
03:11Oh, very important, the baking soda.
03:14Keep everything not so smelly.
03:17Sometimes I'll take the baking soda and put it in everybody's shoes just for good measure,
03:21because every now and again, gotta keep that up.
03:24And then we got snacks.
03:26These have become a favorite.
03:28The peanut butter filled pretzels.
03:31Like I said, it's, you know, it's only been a little while, but this is probably going to be gone
03:35by the end of the day.
03:38We, on our last tour, we asked for Pringles and we got so many Pringles.
03:41So we're trying to just kind of keep the Pringles to a dull roar.
03:45On our last tour, we had so many Pringles, we opened this up and it would all avalanche out.
03:49Let's see what's in here.
03:50Ah, Wonder Bread.
03:52That's, uh, was not a request, but it did happen.
03:57So, you want a good solid, you know, retro sandwich.
04:03What's in here?
04:04Okay, we, okay, here we go.
04:06Now we're, now we're getting into some health stuff.
04:07We got some organic greens, the wheat powder, fruit snacks.
04:14We, there, this has become a thing now with us, where it's like, we, uh, always have these just
04:19club crackers.
04:20It's a fantastic snack.
04:23Oh, that looks like that's about it over here.
04:25That's, that one's been raided.
04:31Ah, yes.
04:32Okay, now we're getting into the good stuff.
04:33Always have a little bit of whiskey.
04:36Red Solo cups.
04:40Ah, there's the toaster.
04:42We were looking for that earlier.
04:44Um, all right, then we got the coffee maker over here.
04:47Very important.
04:48Always available.
04:49You know, coffee's life.
04:52Intensils.
04:53There's tea station.
04:54And then this is kind of fun.
04:57Trash doggy door.
04:58First time we've had a bus that has, has had that.
05:00That's been a little bit of a learning curve.
05:02Oh, this is microwave, I think.
05:04Oh, no, there is.
05:05It's a freezer.
05:08Oh, okay.
05:09I think these are for our, for our day.
05:12So it's like ice packs for when he has a little bit of, you know, drummer tennis elbow.
05:20He'll correct me on that later, I'm sure.
05:22He probably uses it for all other things, but maybe we don't want to know about those things.
05:26We got our bathroom in here.
05:28Oh, hi.
05:29We keep our base player in the bathroom.
05:32Just make sure it's clean in here.
05:33It's for, it's for, well, it's for good luck too.
05:35Because if we keep you in there, like, till right before stage, it's going to be a good time.
05:38It's dark.
05:39Yeah.
05:39The bathroom rules, if you don't know bus in RV culture, typically is no paper, no puke,
05:46no poop.
05:47Yeah.
05:48And we kind of live by that.
05:49They've left a sign for, for reference.
05:53For reference.
05:54And then it's always fine with the toilet to find where the flusher is.
05:58This one happens to be, is it a pedal?
06:00Yeah, just a little pedal.
06:03Sometimes there's a button.
06:04Yeah.
06:05So sometimes there are multiple buttons for multiple different types of flushing.
06:10Yeah.
06:10And that gets confusing.
06:11Do you want like the full flush or the half flush?
06:15Yeah.
06:16Can I come out now or?
06:18Yeah.
06:18Yeah.
06:20For now, Josh.
06:22All right.
06:23Let's take you into the bunk hall.
06:24This is where the magic happens.
06:26Ow!
06:27What?
06:29What, what's, what, what the hell are you blathering about?
06:32I'm trying to take my afternoon beauty nap and all I hear is this, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep.
06:37What, what, what's going on?
06:38Who let you in here?
06:39Who is that?
06:40What's happening?
06:41We're giving everybody a tour.
06:42A tour?
06:43Yeah, of our home.
06:44Wait, so like.
06:45It was on the schedule.
06:45So it's like, wait, wait, people are going to watch this?
06:47People are going to watch this, yes.
06:49Do you have pants on?
06:50Hi.
06:52Welcome to Hillstorm's tour bus.
06:53Enjoy this inside view of how rock stars live on the road.
06:57Okay, well, uh, I'll give you a tour of my insane bed set up, yeah.
07:01So RJ really likes the fan, like the, even though there are fans in, in the bunk already,
07:06he likes to have some next fans.
07:06Well, I just want to be surrounded by fans all the time, right?
07:10That's, that's the only way that I can feel, uh, important, so.
07:12Yeah, so these are, these are condo bunks, so they're a little bigger than the coffins.
07:16Yes.
07:17Uh, which are kind of half-sized, so.
07:19It's a bit messy.
07:20You can actually sit up in this one.
07:21I, I'm a bit, um, I'm a bit high maintenance.
07:23I'm a hot sleeper.
07:25I have allergy problems.
07:26I get dehydrated.
07:28Um, I sweat in my sleep, so I've got cooling, uh, mattress topper, cooling sheets, um, cooling
07:35body pillow with a terry cloth cover.
07:36And I've got my, I've got my, my bus robe that I'm going to wear for the remainder of
07:41this tour, uh, this tour today, not the whole tour.
07:46Uh, but yes, I did add a few extra fans just to make sure I'm nice and cool throughout the
07:50night.
07:51I've got a cooling comforter to keep everything nice and breathable.
07:54Uh, so yeah, this is how I managed to survive on a very hot summer tour.
07:59We have two buses, so it's one for band bus and one for crew bus.
08:03And on our bus, it's, uh, it's the four of us, our tour manager, um, and our fantastic
08:09media guy, Alan.
08:10And so we all kind of pick our bunks and then we have like some, let's see, these are like
08:15junk bunks.
08:16Everyone's taken all their stuff out here, but so like, if you can see, like, here's
08:21the condo bunks and then this is like a regular size bunk here.
08:25So this is what would be regular.
08:27So everyone took all their stuff out because we've got a gig today, but we've put all of
08:31our, you know, extras in there.
08:34So it's not all over the floor, you know, although every now and again, things end up
08:38all over the floor and then we got to put them back, but yeah, it's, it's kind of, it's great.
08:42Like we're, uh, we're all rolling on this pirate ship together.
08:45What happens after a little while since our life is on the road is we don't just kind of pick
08:49random bunks anymore.
08:50So up front here is kind of us, this is Josh's bunk, Joe's bunk, this is my bunk.
08:57I'm kind of a minimalist, but you can just kind of pack all your stuff in there.
09:03And, uh, I do bring my own pillow.
09:05I didn't use to because I thought that was like too high maintenance, but now, you know,
09:09I thought I, I, we talk about this all the time where it's like, I used to jump off half
09:12stacks and six inch heels.
09:14And now if I have the wrong pillow, I'm screwed for a week.
09:17It's insane growing up, but, uh, but yeah, that's, it's kind of, I, I like the bunk.
09:24Like it's, uh, it's kind of like you have your own little private space
09:28and everything kind of shuts down once you, you know, pull the carton through.
09:32So it's very important on the tour to have like, to find like time to yourself, you know,
09:37it's like you're around everybody all the time.
09:38So it's kind of nice.
09:41And then we got our back lounge here.
09:44Hey, look, it's Joe.
09:46Can I help you?
09:49How's it going?
09:50And then, uh, yeah, this is just a little bit more private place to hang.
09:52Although this does get filled up with a lot of stuff.
09:55I think a lot of stuff and girls.
09:59Sometimes, sometimes there's a party.
10:02This is the best party room in the bus.
10:04I'd say, I think so too.
10:05We need a disco ball.
10:05I think right here.
10:07Time to upgrade.
10:08We can find that.
10:10We have our hotel guitars back here.
10:12We kind of keep extra suitcases, hanging things.
10:17And yeah, if we, if you need to just get away from chaos.
10:21And there's all, well, it's not in here.
10:23There's one, uh, kind of space for icing down some beers down here.
10:28And then we have the same thing up front.
10:30I know.
10:31This is, this just always kind of turns into suitcase storage eventually.
10:36Yeah, right.
10:37And you got to like comb through the suitcases to find a place to sit.
10:40You're coming in on a good time.
10:41Yeah.
10:41You get halfway through this tour.
10:42It's just going to be a mess in here.
10:44It's a good spot for, for interviews when you got to do interviews on the bus.
10:47I had to do one this morning.
10:49Yeah, whatever.
10:51It's the back lounge.
10:52What happens here stays here.
10:53That's true.
10:54All of our secrets stay here.
10:56Thank you so much for, uh, for coming and joining us.
11:00And hanging out in our little home.
11:02In our little mobile home.
11:04Yeah.
11:05And so, uh, can't wait to see you guys out, out on the road.
11:07Um, we're out with Babymetal right now and Violent Vera.
11:11And, uh, Everest is out.
11:12The record's been out for over a year now.
11:14And it's time to maybe make some new music.
11:17And do all this again.
11:18Absolutely.
11:19Out back on the bus.
11:20Yeah.
11:20If you need to find anything, it's hailstormrocks.com.
11:22We're also highly Google-able.
11:24So, you know.
11:24You're so Google-able.
11:26Yes.
11:27So, hailstorm in any search engine.
11:29But thanks for joining us.
11:30And we will see you later.
11:31Now get out of here.
11:32Get out of here.
11:58Bye.
12:00Bye.
12:01Bye.
12:05Bye.
