00:01all right we do have breaking news from the national football league tom pelisaro eagles
00:06quarterback jalen hurts is expected to be sidelined for multiple months after new imaging
00:11over the weekend found several blood clots in his lungs hurts is now on blood thinners and should
00:16have no long-term effects but it's unlikely he plays again this season so uh a team that already
00:25had taken a posture that looked like sellers uh at two and four um brad holmes is there anybody on
00:35their roster that might interest you is there any young corner on that team that they're worried
00:40about being able to sign long term a lot of people mentioned the lions and reek woolen uh who's down
00:47there but um interesting for bigger fish to fry there if you could yeah i don't know if they'll
00:52do it i mean they have those two young corners quinnon mitchell and cooper de jean yeah one of
00:56those guys love to have one of those guys yeah anyway um that is uh uh something to keep an
01:02eye
01:02on and what what it means for the eagles come trade deadline but jalen hurts likely done for the year
01:09with the blood clots which by the way very scary that's yeah it is a scary and hopefully they can
01:14figure all that out uh all right let's go to jim on a cell you're 97 one hello jim good
01:21morning dog
01:21and gator how are you doing today good thank you hey i read something yesterday morning and i can't
01:29give the i don't know i didn't remember the news source or anything but i read that uh bryce went
01:36out to california during the bye weeks for a week to work with a quarterbacks coach uh as in knowing
01:44the writings on the wall and preparing for something after michigan this year do you guys know anything
01:49about that well i think kyle wittingham is addressing that now uh and what i read quickly
01:56online was that he said that they had given uh you know the team had friday through sunday off
02:01and bryce took that time from friday through sunday to go work uh in california but didn't say
02:08that he missed time with the team he used the time off to go right well i i find that
02:15counterproductive
02:16because i mean based on everything i've heard or read about him arrogance is his number one asset
02:24and we all get it in this day of a nil people are going to pick and choose the money
02:29over the
02:30university but if he could only like wait to the end of the year before he plays his hand he
02:35still
02:35has a commitment to all those kids on uh you have to be a team hold on just because he
02:41went and worked
02:41with a quarterback coach on his days off doesn't mean he's not committed to the team let me
02:47understand this you can't work with the team if they give you the days off the players can work
02:52and decide to get together but they can't work with the coach no well i actually they can the coaches
02:57well yeah it's not yeah you it's not out of season like you could practice all the way through if
03:02you
03:02want but okay okay i get all that maybe i'm just uh lived a little too long but i i
03:10think it's very
03:12concerning that during this day and age a team a kid can just go as he chooses to and from
03:19his own
03:19team i i don't get that but that's okay well if you're giving time off against you do whatever you
03:24want with a time off i mean personally i think what probably would have behooved him to stick around
03:28on campus and work with his teammates uh as opposed to going cross-country and work with your
03:33personal coach um but you could also take it the other way and say yeah he's trying to get better
03:39he's using his time off to go work with a trainer to get better but is that yeah i mean
03:46the guy you're
03:46away from your team based upon unfortunately for bryce the result in the first half it wasn't like
03:52it made a huge difference but it it maybe it would have been better to spend the time with the
03:56team i
03:56don't know man i mean i think it's a logical leap to say that that means he's not committed to
04:03the team
04:03it might be it might be an example of being committed to his craft to take the time out you
04:08could because let's say he went out and played well on saturday everybody say oh he put in the
04:11extra work i don't know man i just i think that is a logical leap and i i was very
04:17impressed with
04:17the kid's demeanor um when he wasn't playing which has to be a really difficult time i don't want to
04:23make a huge deal out of it but um we kept our eyes on him on the broadcast and he
04:28was engaged
04:29when he wasn't playing uh bill is next hi bill hi guys um first of all gear i'd like that
04:35i'm sorry
04:36about your friend no thank you yeah and uh my champion chump i just changed i was good i was
04:45gonna chump uh college football but i bet i gotta chump that last guy to call did he's if i
04:51heard him
04:52right did he say arrogance is bryce's number one commodity did he intimate that bryce underwood
05:02was arrogant uh he did yes uh i mean you can't there's people who don't love everything he says
05:10and i i mean i have to admit if it were my son i'd be like i wouldn't say that
05:13publicly but
05:14at the end of the day uh yes he he did say that well then he's my jump because my
05:22champ is actually
05:23bryce underwood because just the way he reacted to getting benched now he might not be the guy at
05:30michigan but i think he's a good kid and you know people are making a big deal about this nil
05:37money
05:38the money the money is irrelevant to me he didn't create the system okay that you know the nil came
05:46out of big donors and and private businesses wanting their teams to win and working with the ncaa
05:54coming up with this you know yeah you know i you know i'm sure the you know the players had
06:00some
06:00hand in it but he didn't create the system and and so um you know it's uh i just i
06:11don't i think
06:12a lot of it is uncalled for this this like well you know if you're if you're someone like him
06:17okay
06:18say you're the number one guy you know are you know how can you blame a kid for not taking
06:25life-changing money nobody's playing him for taking life-changing money what people are upset is the
06:30results yeah i mean that's why people are upset the nil world like saturday chris bracy makes a
06:37pick and i never know you know what never enters my mind is what's in his bank account i got
06:42i a you know the whole it's hard for people to see a sport change as dramatically as it does
06:48but you know sharing revenues with players isn't it fundamentally hasn't changed the saturdays it's
06:57changed the off seasons it's changed the way recruiting goes on uh and it's obviously changed
07:01the way people look at the game you know the the getting paid doesn't make somebody that age any
07:08more mature they're they're still young kids relatively speaking and i think about and i i say
07:16this all the time i think i've raised pretty decent kids but every once in a while they'll say something
07:20i'm like oh you have no idea because you know i i said stuff in my early 20s that i
07:26think back and
07:26things that i believed and realized that i was way off so i have a little bit of grace for
07:31when i hear
07:31a kid or a young adult however you want to record i don't want to get caught up in what
07:35we call them
07:36but when i hear them say something that makes me roll my eyes a little bit i'm like well they're
07:40young their frontal lobe is not fully developed no but the spotlight gets put on you when you take
07:46that money whether it's you know well and everybody's gonna take it yeah yeah and i'm not blaming
07:50anyone for taking it it's life-changing money but what that becomes the responsibility whether
07:55you're ready for it or not right it comes the responsibility of answering questions standing
07:58up to all the criticism it's just the way it's the way it is and i said a few weeks
08:03ago i feel like
08:04bryce underwood he's like amani bates like everyone told me this guy was great not just michigan
08:09everybody the scouts the recruiting experts coaches other schools lsu whoever right he's the next
08:15and then when you get him on the field with the money comes instant gratification he's got to play
08:19right away this is a kid who clearly probably should have sat a year or two to learn the
08:22position but no you get paid all this money you get the spotlight you get the criticism you got to
08:26play and it's clearly not translating from what he did in high school to college and so i just like
08:34i go back amani bates they all told me this guy was the best player he'd be the number one
08:37pick
08:37right now manning same you know and then when it comes to the bright lights of the next stage
08:41doesn't happen uh champ and jump time for our champ and jump nominations my champ is the
08:46aforementioned tommy carr for what happened when he came in the game gator your champ of the weekend
08:51is i'm actually going to change it because i just saw the in addition to this story by jalen hurts
08:56i'm going to give it to jalen hurts uh this from tom pellicero after initially being diagnosed with
09:01superficial blood clot in london doctors told him not to sleep as a precaution so he had been awake for
09:09roughly 36 straight hours when he started the game against the jaguars still threw for 220 yards and a
09:17touchdown jalen hurts is uh my champ of the week for for being completely team oriented my chump of
09:23the week is college football playoff expansion which was announced on friday and i'm still pissed
09:28yeah my chump is and i and i love nick marks as a player i think he's a great talent
09:32but you've got
09:33to get your feet right when you're catching the ball in the end zone it was a great play call
09:36for
09:37indiana against ohio state right at the end it was the perfect call he was wide open poor execution
09:43some of the blame is going to go to hoover the quarterback for where he threw it but nick marsh
09:47is is a better receiver than that he has to know where his feet are and it should have been
09:51a game
09:51winning touchdown and he should be a legend in victory instead it's a loss uh champ and chump
09:56brought to you by sarah chevrolet sterling heights get your votes in for champ and chump at a weekend we
10:00tally up the votes and post on our website on tuesday who the people select as champ and chump
10:05of the weekend it's carson anderson 97 one
