Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) co-conveners Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were released from Tihar Jail after the Special Executive Magistrate court accepted their personal bonds and sureties of 50,000 rupees each. The release follows five strict conditions, including an unconditional apology, written undertakings not to breach the peace, adhering strictly to the Constitution, and refraining from calling protests at Jantar Mantar while it remains denotified. However, their legal troubles deepened soon after release as the Delhi Police Crime Branch issued summons directing both leaders to record their statements at Rajouri Garden. The investigation pertains to charges under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and an alleged trespassing case involving the de-notified Jantar Mantar site. While CJP chief Abhijit Dipke welcomed their release and raised slogans demanding the removal of the Chief Election Commissioner, the Bharatiya Janata Party maintained that the custody was solely linked to violating peace bond conditions rather than hoisting the national flag.

00:00We're taking you to the story that we've been tracking, the CJP co-conveners,
00:04Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, whose legal battle after a week long of judicial custody
00:10has come to an end, but the political battle seems to be far from over.
00:15Das and Ranka walked out of Tihar Jail after the Special Executive Magistrate
00:19accepted their personal bonds and sureties of 50,000 rupees each.
00:23The release, however, remember, is not an acquittal.
00:26The proceedings continue, with the next hearing having been scheduled for October 23rd at 3 p.m.
00:31The release comes with five conditions, which include written assurances to maintain peace,
00:36no protest calls at Jantar Mantar while the site remains denotified,
00:40and a commitment to keep future protests within the constitutional framework.
00:45Both have also furnished an unconditional apology over their conduct.
00:49In their undertakings, they've promised not to breach the peace
00:52and expressed faith in the judiciary and the SEM court.
00:56They also assured that any future protest would be adhering to the constitution.
01:01Meanwhile, CJP chief Abhijit Dipke welcomed their release,
01:05calling Saurav and Ashutosh bigger leaders than himself.
01:08He declared solidarity with the two while reiterating the message,
01:13Gyanu must go, referring to the chief election commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar.
01:18But the BJP has pushed back sharply.
01:21Samit Patra says the leaders were not jailed for hoisting the Tiranga,
01:24but allegedly violating the terms of a peace bond.
01:27He's argued that the national flag cannot provide legal immunity
01:30for unlawful conduct at any cost.
01:54Of course, there were delays, but today, finally, these boys are out.
01:58And I think as CJP, all the CJP members who are present over here,
02:02we absolutely feel that, you know, this was necessary.
02:05And now that they're out, we're all happy about it.
02:07We welcome the decision.
02:08I could make certain oral observation, but that's their observation.
02:12Nothing was said on record.
02:14Nothing was on merit.
02:15Saurav is 27, he is absolutely Gen Z.
02:19Ashutosh is borderline Gen Z.
02:21And we relate to the cause of the youth.
02:23We are ultimately youth of this country.
02:26So, of course, we are the youth.
02:28And if we are Gen Z or not, that is something, you know,
02:30which is, I think, not that important.
02:32The judicial custody has been made to be made to be made to be made to be made,
02:41which is the case of the bond, which has been made to be made to be made to be made
02:48to be made to be made to be made.
02:52Peace bond.
03:04So what exactly are the conditions over which this bail has been granted?
03:09What does the peace bond undertakings mention?
03:12Number one, we'll just take you through some more crucial points here.
03:16Both have promised not to commit any breach of peace.
03:20Number two, they've shown full faith in the judiciary and the SCM court.
03:24This comes out to be extremely crucial given the high court plea that they had filed right before the SCM
03:29court hearing,
03:30which the high court had questioned time and again yesterday itself.
03:33Undertaking three, reiterate their commitment to peace, law and order.
03:37Of course, the most important one out of all of them.
03:40Undertaking four, no Jantan Mantar protest shall be called till it's denotified.
03:44And undertaking number five, any protest will be in complete adherence to the constitution.
03:51They've come out to sign the peace bond, the second such peace bond in a month's time with these conditions
03:59in place as we speak.
04:01On that note, viewers, we have some more breaking news on the story itself.
04:05Let's quickly take a look.
04:13Well, we had said that the legal battle does come to an end, but it seems that's not the case.
04:19Breaking news that comes to light right now.
04:21Ranka and Das have been summoned by the police yet again.
04:25What we are learning about is that Delhi Police Crime Branch has come out to summon the both.
04:29They've asked the duo to record their statement in front of the crime branch.
04:33Both have been asked to be present in front of the crime branch at Rajori Garden at 12 noon.
04:39So while the political battle, of course, escalates and continues to be far from over,
04:44even the legal battle doesn't seem to be over for the duo.
04:47As the crime branch has yet again called them to present themselves at 12 noon today.
04:52We have Anshul Singh tracking the story for us very closely.
04:55Let's bring him into the conversation here.
04:57Anshul, a very good morning to you.
04:58So just take us through the details of this summon and what exactly is it with regards to?
05:10Well, remember there were two cases that were registered against Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka.
05:14One was for not going ahead and obliging to the 163 BNSS that was imposed in the Jantar Mantar area.
05:22And hence, action under section 223 of the BNS was actually taken against them.
05:27And for that, an affair was registered against them.
05:29The second case was of trespassing, the manner in which they entered inside the JDO office
05:33and then jumped the gates to enter inside the band complex of Jantar Mantar or the denotified area of Jantar
05:40Mantar.
05:40That case of trespassing has also been transferred to the crime branch.
05:43Now, the crime branch has gone ahead and summoned both Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das,
05:49who are the main accused in this entire matter, to come in and join into the investigation.
05:52They will be asked to record their statements, they will be asked to tell their side of the story
05:57as to what were the exact reasons due to which they decided to go ahead and not accept the orders
06:03that had come in from the government and how did they actually manage to trespass into a banned area.
06:09Apart from that, it will also be asked what was the exact intention behind carrying out such an activity out
06:16here
06:16in the New Delhi district when already there were tensions that were palpating
06:20as there were several restrictions that were imposed in that entire area.
06:24So, yes, these questions are something that the Delhi police will seek answers to
06:28and hence a letter of summon has been sent to both Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das
06:32to produce themselves in front of the Rajauri Garden crime branch.
06:36At 12 noon, it remains to be seen if at all they will oblige to these summons
06:40or will they seek further time from the police to produce themselves.
06:44So, yes, that is something that remains to be seen.
06:46But, yes, it does not seem like that after being released from the jail,
06:50the troubles for Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das is going to end.
06:54Clearly, that's not ended, Anshrul.
06:56And we will keep a track of this story, viewers, as we speak.
07:00But for now, these are the details that we have for you on that very note.
