03:13Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago international audience, and of course, our brothers and sisters in Grenada.
03:19This is Beyond the Tape, and I'm your host, Whitney Husband.
03:22Today is yet another day where we are saying we're excited.
03:25You know why?
03:26Because it's Friday, it's the end of another work week, and I know many of you are excited because you're
03:31able, some of you, to rest this weekend.
03:33If not, some of you might be going out to work, but nonetheless, it is Friday, so it feels good.
03:38And the gentleman who joins us each and every Friday, we have ASP Russell here with us, and we'd like
03:43to welcome him.
03:43Good evening to you, sir.
03:45And how are you?
03:46Good evening, Miss Husband.
03:49Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada, Canada, the U.S., and all our international viewers on behalf of the Commissioner
03:57of Police, Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners, and First and Second Division Officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
04:05Well, as usual, it's...
04:06Is that time?
04:07It's that time.
04:07Is that time again?
04:08I know there's a lot going on, and especially in the sister aisle, I know persons have already started that
04:13temporary migration.
04:15And preparation.
04:16We've had happy plays of Tobago.
04:18I'm excited.
04:19Oh, I.
04:21Are you?
04:23With TGPS, you all have a lot of work to do.
04:25We have a lot of things to do.
04:26I don't think so.
04:26I think persons will listen to what you all are saying.
04:29I'm hoping.
04:30Adhere to the guidelines that we need to follow while we are there.
04:33And remember, safety is paramount.
04:36Well, we are sending 100 officers, you know, to start with.
04:40I know a lot of the executive officers will also be on the aisle to manage and oversee things.
04:45And we will be on the streets, making sure that persons be, you know, have a happy and safe time.
04:51And for those who have any intention of behaving badly, we are there to deal with that as well.
04:58Yes.
04:58It seems like persons are not even waiting to behave badly.
05:01They're behaving badly regardless.
05:02So, as you mentioned, we have a lot to discuss what took place.
05:06And we start off with the TGPS because they really need your assistance here.
05:09And we're seeing another robbery taking place where police investigate robbery of women at Trinity Mall, Kapa.
05:15Now, Aruka CID officers are investigating a robbery with violence in which a 37-year-old woman was relieved of
05:24$20,000 cash on Tuesday, the 20th of October, 2026.
05:29According to reports, around 12.15 p.m., the victim withdrew $20,000 in cash from a bank in Trinity
05:36and then went to the Trinity Mall to get something to eat.
05:40Upon exiting the mall, she was in the car park near Pennywise when she was approached by three men who
05:48announced a robbery.
05:49The suspects grabbed her purse and a struggle ensued when she refused to let go.
05:55The men then struck her about the body before taking her purse, which contained the cash and some personal items.
06:01They escaped in a silver Nissan Tida motor car.
06:05Now, investigations are being continued.
06:07And we ask anyone with information, please contact CID at 640-6138, extension 63074, or call 555-999-800-TIPS
06:19or use the TGPS app.
06:21Please, we're asking persons to assist ASP.
06:25Something is happening, I am sorry to say it, I know you say it, don't like me to say it,
06:30but it seems like something is happening with any banks.
06:32How do you know that persons are walking out with large sums of money like this?
06:38This is too close.
06:40Yes.
06:40This is too close.
06:41Marvel, Trinity, this is too close.
06:44And I hear you with that.
06:46And then we forgot the elderly gentleman.
06:48I hear you with that.
06:50And the police are indeed conducting investigations.
06:53But let me test your police skills, because you know you're more or less one of us.
06:58Oh, really?
06:58Having read this document that you read.
07:01You've had a firearm?
07:03No firearm today, Ms. Husband, school it with that firearm thing.
07:07Having read that information you read there, did anything stand out to you that was similar to what took place
07:16in the U.S.?
07:17Yes.
07:17What it was?
07:18She went to get something to eat, and the lady in Marvel went to get something to eat as well.
07:23Further to that?
07:25The tida.
07:26All right, see no more.
07:27Another tida.
07:28This one was silver too.
07:30Let me make sure.
07:33Silver, yeah.
07:34Silver, another silver tida.
07:35The tida.
07:36And what's the date?
07:38Tuesday.
07:39Tuesday.
07:40Yeah.
07:41Okay then.
07:42Or they're busy.
07:43Okay then.
07:43They're busy.
07:44But more than that, which is clearly what you all are paying attention to, the banks, the banks, it cannot
07:51be coincidence.
07:53It cannot.
07:53You're nailing everybody walking out with over $10,000 or more on the person, and you know who to deal
08:01with.
08:01She went to get something to eat.
08:03Well, the nice thing about it is that we have persons in custody, and investigations are going on with respect
08:11to the one in Marvel.
08:12Yes.
08:12I don't know if there's a linkage between the two of them, but we ask the public to continue to
08:19come in to give that information, share it, 800-TIPS-555, because the more information that we have, the piece
08:25together the puzzle is the faster we can solve this crime and get those responsible really where they ought to
08:32be.
08:32Yes.
08:33I really hope though that the banks across the country, that you could find a way to assist your customers
08:39when they're taking out large sums of money like this, or recommend that if it is not needed, they don't
08:44need to take out cash.
08:46And even if you have to, for the customers, that is, and persons saying, I have no bank account, let
08:52them get a bank account.
08:53For myself once, Anne, I hear you with that, but the technology sometimes is not so user-friendly to the
09:02older persons, the pensioners, the retirees.
09:06So every month we would see the long lines of persons coming to withdraw their pension.
09:12I know you would have witnessed this as well.
09:15Probably we need to find a way to make the technology easy.
09:18For instance, my mother, I cannot tell my mother anything about online.
09:24Yes.
09:24Well, my parents are in the same boat, but we try to guide them accordingly, but they're still in the
09:30know because they're those who are mature and elderly persons who are tech-savious.
09:35Yeah, let me make that very clear.
09:36There are persons who are tech-savvy, but we have to find a way, even if you know, because this
09:41was a young woman, eh?
09:42Yeah.
09:4237.
09:43Mm-hmm.
09:45She's understanding technology, I'm sure.
09:47She should have a fair understanding of how to operate the technology.
09:51She should.
09:52Yes.
09:52Now, the TTPS is back in the mix because they are warning the public about what exactly.
09:57Right.
09:58So, you know, we are seeing what has been taking place, so we warn the public, don't let the cash,
10:05withdrawal put your life at risk.
10:08I repeat, don't let a cash withdrawal put your life at risk.
10:12Mm-hmm.
10:12The Trina and Tobago Police Service is urging members of the public to exercise extreme caution when withdrawing,
10:20transporting large sums of cash, following several recent reports of robberies and larcenies involving persons who were targeted after leaving
10:30banks and other financial institutions.
10:32In some instances, cash was taken directly from individuals, while in others, money was stolen from vehicles in which it
10:43had been left.
10:44So we ask persons, do not leave the money in the vehicle.
10:48You stop to get something to eat because you don't know who's looking at you.
10:52The TTPS is warning that criminals may be monitoring customers outside financial institutions and could follow them before seizing an
11:01opportunity to strike on the street,
11:04at a traffic stop, or at their homes or business.
11:09Such encounters can escalate into violence, placing lives at risk.
11:15No amount of money is worth your life.
11:18The safest cash is the cash you don't carry.
11:24So I'm going to give you some safer alternatives to carrying cash.
11:27Members of the public are encouraged to use safer payment methods wherever possible, including online and mobile banking transfers,
11:38direct deposits and bank-to-bank ACH transfers, manager's checks or company checks, debit cards, credit cards, and point-of
11:50-sale payment.
11:52And arrangements can also be made with their financial institution for the secure handling of large transactions.
12:00So sometimes they may allow you to go into the private booth at the bank and stuff like that.
12:04If you must, however, withdraw a large sum of cash, take note of the following.
12:09We advise the public to take the necessary precautions.
12:12Keep your plans private.
12:16Keep your plans private.
12:18Avoid discussing your withdrawal plans in person, over the phone, or on social media.
12:28Vary your routines.
12:29Where possible, change your banking days, times, and routes.
12:33Exercise discretion at the bank.
12:36Ask whether a private area is available.
12:40And avoid counting cash in public view.
12:44Avoid counting your cash in public view.
12:50Take someone you trust.
12:52Where possible, have a trusted person accompany you.
12:56Stay alert.
12:57And I say again, stay alert.
12:59Be aware of anyone who appears to be watching or following you.
13:03So you must be observant.
13:04Both inside and outside the financial institution.
13:08Go directly to your destination.
13:11Avoid unnecessary stops after withdrawing your cash.
13:16Never leave cash in your vehicle.
13:18And I would say again, never leave cash in your vehicle.
13:22This applies even if the vehicle is locked, the money is concealed, or you intend to be away only for
13:29a short moment.
13:31Act if you suspect you are being followed.
13:34What do you mean by act?
13:36Do not proceed to your home.
13:38Instead, travel to the nearest police station or a busy public place where you can seek assistance.
13:45Consider professional cash in transit services.
13:50Businesses that regularly deposit or withdraw large sums should explore secure transportation arrangements.
13:58The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service emphasizes that victims of crime are never to be blamed for the action of
14:07offenders.
14:08However, taking reasonable precautions when handling large sums of cash can reduce your exposure to risk.
14:16And protect individuals, their families, and their livelihoods.
14:22Members of the public are encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity or criminal incidents immediately through the following
14:31channels.
14:32999 or 911-555-800-TIPS
14:38And reports can also be made at the nearest police station.
14:42999 or 911-555-800-TIPS
14:43Your safety is our priority.
14:46Stay alert.
14:47Stay safe.
14:48All right.
14:49I hope you all understood those steps and really and truly understand the importance of knowing your surroundings.
14:56Of course.
14:57And understanding also the large sum of money that you may be moving with is sometimes not necessary.
15:03But as ASP mentioned, we gave numerous steps on the TTPS.
15:07I hope persons take heed with that now.
15:09We had to Marabella because the incident that took place in Marabella.
15:13And we want you all to take a look at how things could always go left in situations.
15:19All right.
15:26Yes, please.
15:27What do we have here today?
15:28We are looking.
15:32Look at it closely.
15:34And you recognize something.
15:38So he reported.
15:40Yes.
15:40Apparently, he worked in there.
15:41So he chose a jumper for the counter and report to work.
15:44Extra duties.
15:44And every time you look at these guys, they are always hitting somebody.
15:47But yeah.
15:48Always.
15:48And nobody is harming them, doing them anything.
15:53And you recognize females at Windy West, female at Chin City, female there again.
16:00Yes.
16:01And they keep striking these women.
16:03Every incident.
16:05It's no shame, boy.
16:07No shame.
16:09So if it's happening in Marabella.
16:11Yes.
16:12At a particular establishment, I wouldn't want to call the name.
16:16A popular spot.
16:17However, I'm asking persons who may have information that could lead to the arrest of these individuals
16:22to contact the Marabella Police Station, 652-6777, Sergeant Solomon.
16:31I say again, 652-6777, Sergeant Solomon at the Marabella Police Station.
16:40Tell me what this woman doing to you, that you must treat this lady like that.
16:44Advantages.
16:45I wonder if they have parents.
16:47Well, they didn't fall from the sky.
16:50I wonder if they have sisters.
16:52Nieces.
16:53Only child.
16:54Female cousins.
16:55Girlfriends.
16:56Girlfriends maybe.
16:57For sure.
16:58Wow.
16:59We don't like a bad man.
17:04Terrible.
17:08Nice human.
17:10Yeah.
17:10Yeah.
17:10He came from it.
17:11Yeah.
17:11Extra duty.
17:12There was a whole in it frame.
17:13No, not extra duty.
17:14What does he say?
17:15There was a whole in it frame.
17:16Overtime?
17:18No, not overtime either.
17:20Okay.
17:21I know the picture is not the best, Trinidad and Tobago, but we are asking for your assistance.
17:27You may recognize the facial features.
17:28You may recognize something.
17:30You may hear something.
17:31If Jackie goes back to the video.
17:43If Jackie could go back to the video, remember to see if anything you could notice from any of these
17:49individuals, there's one person in a slipper.
17:52That was the first one who jumped over the table.
17:57All right?
17:59All right?
17:59So, yes.
18:00In the white.
18:00So, you could look at the slipper.
18:05Yeah?
18:07Yeah, I think they just like to get on and harm individuals.
18:10I just wanted to go back to that because you could maybe.
18:14That could be something SP.
18:16I'm not sure.
18:16You might see some sort of distinguishing mark or something.
18:19Or you might recognize the slippers.
18:21Any information we would accept.
18:24Yeah.
18:25Yeah.
18:25You could look at the toes too.
18:28Yes, most definitely.
18:30Now, a lot is happening past the lighthouse, apparently.
18:33And what we are seeing now, I mean, anyone with information, once again, this took place as well, if I'm
18:38not mistaken, in the southern area where we're asking persons, please, with any information, as ASP mentioned, you could contact
18:46555-800-TIPS-999.
18:49And we really need to get these people off the streets, ASP.
18:53With the utmost urgency.
18:55Yes.
18:56So, please do not delay.
18:58All right.
18:58So, as we move, I know this one here, you will, you're always telling me, you're always mentioning a gun.
19:07But in this case, here, this is not something that, you know, we should joke about.
19:12And the importance of people understanding, when you are a firearm holder.
19:18Your responsibilities.
19:20Yes.
19:20And it's a lot.
19:21It weighs heavy.
19:22Now, according to the Trinidad Express, child playing with gun accidentally shoots man.
19:27Now, a 21-year-old man was left in critical condition after he was shot in the chest when a
19:34firearm allegedly went off, while an adolescent was playing with it at a house in Upper Santa Cruz on Thursday
19:41afternoon.
19:41Now, the victim was at a friend's home in Upper Santa Cruz around 4 p.m. when the incident occurred.
19:49Now, police said the victim was seated in a bedroom with several other people when an adolescent entered the room
19:57while handling a firearm.
19:58The gun reportedly went off, striking him in the chest before the bullet exited through his back.
20:04The adolescent allegedly ran out of the house and escaped.
20:08The victim was taken to the Portisbury General Hospital by a neighbor where he was treated by a doctor listed
20:15in critical condition.
20:16Officers from the Northeastern Division Task Force conducted checks for the firearm and the suspect, but neither was found.
20:24Now, Homicide Region 2 was notified while officers from the Northeastern Division Crime Scene Investigation Unit processed the scene and
20:34recovered a projectile.
20:36Yes, Lee?
20:36Well, I'm not certain if it was a legal or an illegal firearm, but the actions that followed thereafter says
20:44a lot as well.
20:44So, I'm hoping that we could have this person in our custody soon.
20:48I wish the victim a speedy recovery.
20:51All things, you know, are possible with the Lord.
20:56You know, have his family pray for him.
20:59We can also pray for him.
21:00I mean, it's just...
21:02It's sad.
21:02It's just sad.
21:03And I'm saying, you know, what's really going on?
21:07Why would you play with a gun?
21:08And that is it.
21:10And I know there was a situation that took place earlier.
21:13This week, I'm involved in another firearm being discharged, you know, and the circumstances are still being investigated.
21:22However, I'm asking persons, please, illegal firearms.
21:28This is some of that behavior, not?
21:30Yeah.
21:30Even illegal ones.
21:31Even to the persons who are holders of FUL, I'm asking you, especially in houses or homes that have children,
21:40please secure your firearms.
21:45Please secure your firearms.
21:47When you are applying, you are saying, you know, Brendan, not in use.
21:50I'm going to have it in the safe that I'm the only person with the combination for...
21:58Or when you walk in the house, you're just straight on your side table.
22:02So I'm asking for some responsible behavior, especially around those firearms.
22:08All right, ladies and gentlemen, right now it's time for us to take a look at what's making today's headlines.
22:12And we'll be right back in here.
22:52And those are your stories making today's headlines.
22:54We're seeing a lot of shootings, a lot of gun violence taking place, domestic issues.
22:58And, of course, the TTPS continues to hold strong as best as they can to make sure that they continue
23:04to protect and serve.
23:05We'll take your calls and more after this.
23:12Over 40 years in the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service has taught me one important lesson.
23:21Evidence matters.
23:23In policing, we rely on evidence to establish the facts and make informed decisions.
23:32Therefore, improving policing should be no different.
23:36That's why your participation in the TTPS Public Satisfaction Survey is so important.
23:45Your honest feedback provides the evidence needed to understand what's working, what isn't, and where improvements are necessary.
23:54Don't leave it to someone else to tell your story.
23:58Your experience is evidence.
24:01Your perspective matters.

25:54And an initiative that we're seeing taking place throughout the country of Trinidad and Tobago
25:58And specifically, it took place in Prince's Down East Secondary School
26:02And they were able to flip the script
26:04So let's take a look
26:05The program was very motivating
26:07And so I think they can change their ways
26:09And basically flip the script
26:10Good afternoon, everyone
26:12As principal of Prince's Down East Secondary School, I welcome the T2PS initiative of Flip the Script
26:20Which really provides an opportunity for our students to display positive behavior and make positive choices
26:28We have with us one of the theater teachers, Ms. McIntosh
26:32Ms. McIntosh, what's your thought about the program and what we did for the kids here today?
26:36I think that this program was exceptionally well done
26:39The initiative, I commend the Commissioner of Police for this great initiative
26:45And it was well received by everyone
26:47As we saw the kids and they came out, they were quite engaged, they participated
26:52They also were able to answer all the questions
26:56And it was quite a well done event
27:00You know, we had quite a bit of speakers today
27:02And they spoke about different things
27:04Is there one particular speaker that stood out to you?
27:06Somebody that their contribution just really stuck with you?
27:11I think it's Ms. Phillip
27:12It's Ms. Phillip
27:14The Police Youth Club?
27:15Yes, she stood out to me very much
27:17I mean, she was giving the vibe
27:19She gave me the courage and the confidence
27:20You know, she was actually understanding
27:23In my way, particular way to say it
27:26You know, yeah
27:27So you would join the Police Youth Club?
27:29Yes, for sure
27:31I have been a student of the school
27:35Yes, I walked on this ground up
27:38Stand up in this hall
27:40And send my prayer
27:42And tell me everything
27:44Just as you all are doing now
27:46Part of the flip-discipline
27:47Should have been also to encourage mentorship
27:50So the TTP, as the police have a men's bureau
27:52And that men's bureau is going to go out
27:54And actually take some of the young men
27:56And take them along the right path
27:59Based on what you see in the school
28:00How do you think something like that
28:02Is going to impact the kids?
28:04What sort of effect the thing is going to have
28:05On their life trajectory?
28:07That mentorship program is
28:09If anything, it's going to propel
28:11What we currently have on a Wednesday
28:13Right, where we meet with a handful of boys
28:16But if we get the push
28:19With the police services support
28:20I think that's going to be fuel
28:22For us to take that program
28:24To a much higher level
28:25Where we will actually meet at a causal level
28:28I feel like it had a strong message
28:30Towards what's happening
28:32In certain schools right now
28:34That people actually have a chance to change
28:36And have a chance to improve
28:38The life will become better
28:39I just feel like it brings across a strong positive message
28:42To just remind you it's possible
28:44And it's not you alone
28:57Princess Town is secondary
29:00Flip the script
29:00And I'm loving to see the young persons
29:02Getting involved
29:03Of course
29:03And seeing that the members of the TTPS
29:06And other stakeholders
29:07Who are involved as well
29:09Showing a lot of
29:11You know, love towards the young persons
29:13But right now we have a call
29:14And we'll take that call now
29:16Caller, good evening
29:20Hello
29:23Hi, good evening
29:24Hi, good evening caller
29:25To the officer, the gentleman
29:27Hi
29:28To the police, the young person
29:30Evening
29:30Good evening to you
29:31Good evening caller
29:33Officer, I'm going to make a very serious joke
29:36You are not going to laugh
29:37But I will take it serious
29:40We have been trying for the past
29:44Hundred years
29:46To get a hundred and do
29:48These criminals
29:52We have had a lot of educated people
29:55Passing through our parliament
29:58And through our judiciary
30:00But we still cannot get a hundred and do
30:05So the serious joke I'm going to make
30:08Is we should get some
30:11Settlers
30:14And put them to ask
30:15In parliament for a while
30:18And to ask the judiciary
30:21To make these laws
30:23That can be very stringent
30:25And I can guarantee you
30:27Within one year
30:28We will have about 90% less
30:31To me
30:32And it's no point
30:36all right thank you so much a serious joke esp well i'm not allowed to laugh
30:40oh you're not allowed to laugh that's what the caller said i'm not allowed to laugh
30:44um the caller's suggestion is putting toddlers in the judiciary and in the parliament yes um
30:51they might do a better job i cannot say i don't know if they decide to test the hypothesis and
30:58see what is going on to me anything that would make renan tobago a safer place a better place
31:04i i am for and would always support i mean i haven't been in the organization 28 years
31:14wow i saw a lot of things um i heard i learned so much and it is painful to see
31:23the direction
31:25notwithstanding that we have had reductions over the years um and serious crimes and murders and
31:31stuff like that um it is sad to see what is going on this disrespect this disregard for person's lives
31:39their properties etc by person's feeling they they are entitled to take your gold chain and take your
31:45phone and rub you of your heart in cash and not only the criminals not only the ones robbing you
31:51with
31:51guns but the you know sometimes the inequality in society that we see at this point in time
31:58i will touch on also the racism that we see in society at this point in time because there's one
32:05trend at tobago correct and i i always there's a there's a statement i say when you are droning
32:09you hold on to a leaf and we have to understand we need each other yeah we need each other
32:20and that
32:21that is the only how the country is going to get better but once there is division
32:26and classism we will continue to have this problem going in the schools would help going into the
32:36communities would help but that's just parts of the whole and if we really want to fix the country
32:48we need everybody all right we will take your calls and more when we come back after this break

36:05and we are back remember to give us a call at 623-1711 extension 1996 or 1997 we have asp
36:13russell here
36:14with us and we head back to the phone lines caller good evening every day good evening mom
36:19even the first one how are you all great did you think mom how are you good yes yes
36:26looking at this video with that woman really hit that woman for many more than eight times i try to
36:33stretch the check more than eight times and then look at another program what has been said is as though
36:39it was well planned because someone of them who they caught did something for her i don't know
36:45whether that is true but i hear that but i hope that they deal with them they charge whoever and
36:50deal
36:51with them asap because they're overdoing it so be with us and i saw it if cj said he planned
36:57to
36:58clear some of these cases back to the case and i pray that he ready to get through that another
37:03thing is
37:03officers the public officer they just want you to look back because we always talk about the open door
37:09policies and when you go to someone there they're standing here here standing there standing there
37:13actually they just don't care they totally ignore that they're supposed to protect themselves and
37:20they don't care about what it's taken place we really need to deal with them and i'm saying that
37:25sometimes we have to really push it because these people are moving and trying to move on all around
37:33we have to deal with them asap as soon as possible so be safe all of you be safe whoever
37:40going to be able be safe also and all we're going to continue praying for you because you are really
37:46really trying and you know that you have to really help all of us thank you very much thank you
37:51so
37:51much mom amen well i mean i know i listened to the caller and she spoke about dealing with them
37:56and you know
37:58crime fighting is not just the police alone mom and i hear you and we need the public's assistance i
38:05would
38:05tell you something there were villages where they were crime free because the neighbors had a standard the
38:15neighbors set examples yeah and when we started um seeing persons being shot on the promenade in broad daylight
38:26and there's no witness when everybody started minding my business i ain't want no part until you're
38:35until you're the victim or one of your family members are the victim then we understand how crucial how
38:43important it is for us all to come together we have created so many anonymous measures so that we could
38:51get the information to solve these crimes are we really taking advantage of it as we should we could
38:58be complaining about how much change do we really want for instance the public satisfaction survey every
39:05day i'm asking persons we trying to get at least ten thousand
39:14miss husbands what number you're laughing i'm not even certain if we cross a thousand
39:20and then everybody won't change and we are asking you to complete the survey complete the survey it
39:24closes on the on the second of november so that we you can tell us where we where we are
39:30going wrong so
39:30we could put systems in place we could re-strategize implement new policies really make that improvement
39:37going forward for our next strategic and operational plan you know that we will have to do soon and
39:44you know it's like persons i don't know if they're afraid it's a hundred percent anonymous five minutes
39:49a hundred percent anonymous and we're begging we are begging all right we have another call caller good evening
40:00hello hello hi good evening i have a question and a comment please go ahead
40:05go ahead for the video you all show zero you all want members of the public to assist right my
40:12question to
40:13the mr robson is why you all just mentioned or say that a particular establishment right and if you
40:24are you all died one why didn't you mention the name of the establishment and as well as you're one
40:30members of the public to assist so if somebody on the outside saw these people running out of an
40:36establishment and they brought into a particular behavior right call is how you are one members of the
40:41public to assist and you are failing to stay in the name of the establishment what is the reason for
40:47not saying name of the establishment thank you thank you so much ma'am yes be valid question i like
40:54that
40:54question valid valid question i like that question ma'am let me see how nice is where i can put
41:02this
41:05crime affects business any area that has crime and and this is how you know a lot of us think
41:12in society
41:13um and we say it in our in our daily lives where you hear somebody say i don't i don't
41:20like a particular
41:21type of person because they they may pray or uniform man bad yeah you know so right man in uniform
41:28bad
41:28so we try to really because business continuity is important and it may have been a one-off situation
41:34with this rub we took place but it affects business for that person i could see their business being closed
41:42done because all you remember is chances are you going there to buy something you could get robin on
41:48they're up there already even though it's one robbery you know so we really try to avoid that also we
41:56don't
41:56want to put person's lives at risk because there has been situations where persons go back and threaten
42:04persons um about you know giving the information and stuff like that or going and make a report that's
42:10where we ask to use the anonymous hotline so we don't know who you are and we get the video
42:15footage
42:15and other things to put together the crime and form that strong um evidential case where we could
42:23prove and convict these guys before the court the situation in in in there are a lot of situations
42:29where businesses are involved but and they would share the footage and ask you please do not call the
42:36establishment name and we want them to partner with us so if they have that request of us then we
42:43need
42:43to respect their requests all right i i get all of that but then how would you want the ttps
42:48to apprehend
42:49the individuals not everyone knows that establishment or if it is somebody they overheard somebody speaking
42:55of this same same set place that they committed this crime and they're not from the area but they could
43:02have the name on the show or news yeah how else would you get right so when you see the
43:07individuals
43:09on the tv you might see an a tattoo that you know is on a particular person you might recognize
43:15you may
43:16have been the person who bought the slippers for the gentleman that he was wearing on your river wait
43:20number that is that is xyz frame but i just suppose i buy it for him and with that you
43:25can do an
43:26identification it you may it is not necessary that you call the business name to make the identification
43:34yeah and even self and i did say the marbella area yes so let's say on that day you saw
43:41some men
43:42speeding through the area in a white vehicle with a particular registration number it could be
43:50something linked to that as well that's why we asked you know bring the information share the information
43:55so we could solve it without having to put anybody else's life at any further risk and without bringing
44:01any shame or affecting the business like for instance my husband's we didn't call the establishment on we
44:08didn't the avenue recently even my right and even marvel would you feel safe sitting in an establishment
44:18that you have a perception is an easy target or a usual target for criminals well i need to answer
44:28that
44:29after the break so let's take that break and we will continue with more
44:35five five five minutes that's all it will take for you to complete the trinidad and tobago police service
44:41public satisfaction survey on your phone yes five minutes that's all it will take for you to share
44:49your experience with the police what we're doing well and even ways in which we can improve your feedback
44:57will help us improve the quality of service we give to you in our stations on our streets or even
45:05when
45:06you call for help so just give us five minutes take this away share your perspective and help us improve

47:44How are the ASP?
47:45Russell here with us.
47:46And again, the importance of your town meetings.
47:49I want to come to your area.
47:50Make sure that you are present because it is needed for you to at least assist the TTPS and, of
47:56course, know the officers in your area.
47:58So the North Central Division in the Maracas and Joseph Town Meeting will be taking place on Monday, the 26th
48:04of October at the University of the Southern Caribbean Conference Room from 6 p.m.
48:09Go and know your officers in your said area in Maracas and Joseph.
48:13Discuss some of, even if you don't have issues, but just let them know some of the things that you
48:18think could assist your community.
48:20It's important that you are present and not just your mature audience, but also the young ones who live in
48:26the said area as well.
48:28Remember, you can give us a call as well at 623-1711, extension 1996 or 1997.
48:33We have a caller.
48:34Caller, good evening.
48:38Hello?
48:39Listen to you, Mr. Neenia.
48:41Hey, good evening to you.
48:42Good evening, caller.
48:44So, we have some IME, so we should have the politicians.
48:50And let me share this with you.
48:53Now, we have to make it so everybody is a rude thing now.
48:57So much of the help doesn't get cooler.
49:00The bandits know the drill.
49:02One day, cake, bank, money, black, black, black, black, black.
49:08They say, I've been over and over.
49:09Can the inner citizens go to the station or have a hotline and attack the police?
49:16So, I ask for them to leave us every month.
49:19But those believe the traffic is not part of this.
49:23But I think it's a good idea if they're in a row and get killed.
49:26Police could have switched it.
49:27What do you need out of there to go to the bank today?
49:29They say, okay, we will take care of you, we will bring it back to you.
49:33That's the worst point.
49:34The other point is, how could you have a legal fire?
49:38And listen to you, how could you have a legal fire?
49:42Right?
49:43I'm going to the river and you see, leaving your fire in the car.
49:47That's a normal thing.
49:49I think anybody can't leave your fire in the car, leave your fire in the car.
49:57And leave your fire in the car.
50:15yeah all right thank you so much um call me address the firearm um situation first or what
50:21you can do because i know some places may find but i live in in the east and driving to
50:27maracas
50:27to take a beach bath anything could happen within that time what i would encourage you to do there's
50:33a police force of course right there in maracas you can go right there big gas station right by
50:39the npg station lodge your firearms and when you finish barely go back right there and you
50:44retrieve your firearm you have your firearm on you for your journey back home yes um you're going to
50:51the river the nearest police station to the river you could lodge your firearm there but if if you
50:58do go by the river or to the beach but you're not going to be they're just there's sunbathing you
51:03could have the firearm on you once it is is concealed well i would want to make sure that you're
51:09responsible enough to conceal and that at no point in time you can water doesn't tempt you what's a
51:15go in you think oh the water very nice you know and then you're what you find the station fire
51:19you
51:19got a nice spark you don't want to drive back to the station so you're saying let me wrap it
51:23up in
51:23a towel and put it in the bag dangerous yeah mr sponsor let me lodge it now please we go
51:28lodge it
51:28by the nearest station um with respect to these citizens um i hear you but that is something that i
51:36do
51:36we don't have the resources for it may be better for us as the ttps and this is what we
51:41do
51:41especially around the um pension and the month and time we really heighten that foot patrol and
51:49mobile patrol around the banking institutions uh a familiar place is park street because that that
51:56is where we see a lot of the pensioners yes so where we look at our um data with respect
52:03to crime
52:03and we know um we deal with carpentry we could tell you what happens there what happens when the
52:08time and stuff like that and of course you would recognize certain things so we tend to ensure
52:12that the patrols are rarely increased in the hotspot in the downtown and around the financial business
52:19hubs area throughout the country all right so we have another call caller we do apologize for that wait
52:25good evening good evening yes good evening sir yes i think that was wonderful and you know who might be
52:51thankful to that the end the american
52:55an embassy official who is building that 400 million U.A. embassy within a war in this
53:01time. So I am very impressed and I don't know if you are doing that. The second thing, a
53:08judgment against 22nd and they just say it is time to let officers be out of their pockets.
53:19You are wearing the hat of an organization representing set of police officers. Have you all addressed
53:32that issue? The second issue is that I congratulated you all again based on the 626 murders in 2024
53:44that is the benchmark. You are at a decline of 42.1% and it is going to be as
53:52I said yesterday
53:54it is about 44-45. That is good. I believe the TGPS and the police and the national security
54:03apparatus could bring that to under 70% of 60-25. Provided we have the TGPS, the COSCA, etc.
54:14with officers who have a command of the pressure. They are honest and they are people of integrity.
54:28We are seeing a lot of questionable issues. The other issue is recently, I think the Public
54:36Service Commission had a judgment against them about how the prison officers behave. So that
54:43means there is a lot of dirt within the security apparatus. And I am calling again for the
54:51Public Service Commission, the Police, the Police Service Commission, the Public Service Commission,
54:59to remove force with. And I am giving it to the President to act that. Because I take those,
55:06the action of those commissions, is stifling the movement of the police forward with respect to
55:13health in us, cure this ill of criminality within Trinidad of the Republic. I want to listen
55:28with respect to the robbery. With the judgment against the police officers and having them
55:34pay out of their pocket, I hear you. I know that has been some chatter within the country for
55:41some time now. But, you know, we have to cater for the times where it is something that you
55:50really act in outer capacity. Because there may be some time where you have to discharge
55:54if I am. And then somebody might decide based on the investigation, you should not have
55:58discharged at that point in time. Even though you may have served or helped something. So,
56:02you know, we always better, the law is there for that. And you have to make sure that the
56:09innocent doesn't end up making a jail. So we have to get persons due process. We must, we cannot,
56:15because we have had judgment where we dismiss persons, kind of way, and that and all went
56:20to the police service commission, persons appeal, we've reconciled, and we lost. So, we have to let
56:25the process take its course. With respect to the murdering, yes, we are trending downwards.
56:30I want to thank you as well, the members of the public, because you are giving us the
56:33information to help keep the place safer. And all the institutions, Coast Guard,
56:40regiment, police, we are really trying to be from the strengths, so we should have a
56:43safer community soon. I hope I address most of it. Wow. Yes, we thank you so much for being here
56:48with
56:48us. And we appreciate your time. And we hope that you have a safe weekend. You have a safe
56:53weekend as well. And we get ready for news coming up next TNT at 7. Be safe, continue being our
56:58target. God bless. We're out.
