Archaeologists have identified a Roman military camp near La Peña del Castro, an Iron Age hillfort in northern Spain. The site at La Ercina covers approximately 1.7 hectares and lies roughly 500 metres from the hillfort.

The camp's stone defenses, curved entrance and recovered Roman military remains are helping researchers investigate the conquest of the Cantabrian region. Researchers have confirmed that the assault on the settlement came from the northern slope. Evidence of intense burning is also documented, while the possibility of deliberate destruction after the conquest remains under investigation.

This cinematic reconstruction brings the military landscape to life without presenting uncertain interpretations as established fact.
