Ariella Scalese takes a look at the forecast for trick-or-treating around the country.
Transcript
00:00Rain and thunderstorms could disrupt Halloween plans from the southwest into parts of the nation's midsection,
00:04while much of the east looks dry for trick-or-treating.
00:07If you're heading out in places like Phoenix, Dallas, or Kansas City, keep a close eye on the forecast.
00:12The timing of showers and thunderstorms could make the difference between a dry evening and a soggy candy haul.
00:17The highest risk for wet weather stretches from parts of Arizona and New Mexico through portions of the plains
00:22and into parts of the Mississippi and Tennessee valleys, where rain and thunderstorms could linger into Halloween.
00:28Meanwhile, much of the eastern third of the country is expected to stay dry, giving many trick-or-treaters a
00:33weather advantage this year.
00:35The other thing to watch?
00:36Chilly temperatures across parts of the west.
00:38In some locations, temperatures could drop from the 50s into the 40s after sunset,
00:42so that carefully planned costume may need an extra layer underneath.
00:46And if you're in south Florida, lingering showers and elevated tides could create a few extra obstacles Halloween night.
00:52Bottom line, the east gets more treats than tricks from Mother Nature,
00:55while communities from the southwest into parts of the central U.S. may want an umbrella alongside the candy bucket.
