The Election Commission of India has submitted a comprehensive affidavit to the Supreme Court countering accusations regarding the special intensive revision of electoral rolls. Refuting charges of unilateral decisions by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, the poll body maintained that all three orders regarding the exercise were made unanimously. It clarified that Form 6 remains unamended, voter modifications require statutory orders from Electoral Registration Officers, and resolved issues regarding voters in Goa and appeals in West Bengal. Meanwhile, political confrontations have intensified. The Congress party, led by Rahul Gandhi, continues to target the process as an infringement on voter rights and planned a mock parliament to seek the CEC's impeachment. The Delhi Police clarified that permissions for the Congress rally at Ramlila Maidan remain valid, though local traders have raised concerns over potential financial losses during the festival season. Concurrently, the Bharatiya Janata Party announced a nationwide counter-campaign to inform citizens about the roll revision.

00:00The special intensive revision of the electoral rolls that's battle is now not just playing out on the streets, but
00:06also in the Supreme Court of India.
00:09The Election Commission has filed a detailed affidavit with a point-by-point response to allegations of vote chori.
00:19The Election Commission has denied all allegations of unilateral decisions taken by the Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar.
00:26The Election Commission, on a signed affidavit, insists that all orders, the three orders related to the special intensive revision
00:36of the electoral rolls, were taken unanimously.
00:40On the issue of Form 6, they say the Form 6 has not been amended and that no voter can
00:46be added or deleted from the electoral rolls without the order of the ERO.
00:53So, let's take, break this down point-by-point on charges made and the EC's response, the EC's clarification on
01:03a sworn affidavit.
01:04So, on allegations of unilateral decisions by C.C. Gyanesh Kumar, the ECI says all orders were unanimously approved.
01:12On Form 6, the report flags an alleged change without government approval to Form 6, the annexure.
01:22The ECI says Form 6 has not been amended.
01:25The annexure is for mapping to ease requirement for additional documents.
01:33On Goa's 97 voters allegedly left out of the final electoral rolls, the ECI, in its response, filed in the
01:43Supreme Court, says 88 names out of those 97 have already been enrolled.
01:49Six others were overseas.
01:51On West Bengal Tribunal Appeals, the Election Commission of India says the CEO's office in Bengal acted under orders of
02:01the Supreme Court, though the matters raised there were not brought before the Election Commission.
02:07On ECI net access, the ECI says voter additions and deletions require an order from the competent authority and the
02:17competent authority is the ERO or the Electoral Registration Officer.
02:23On work redistribution, and this, again, was a major issue because this is where the newspaper report had claimed that
02:31the Election Commissioners had reached out to the Cabinet Secretary and this indicated that all was not well within the
02:37Election Commission.
02:37The Election Commission of India affidavit says that this July 28 order was never implemented after both the Election Commissioners
02:46issued a joint direction on the 30th of July.
02:50And on official communication, allegedly issued without approval, the Commission says that officers exceeding their delegated power will face action.
03:00But the opposition, led by the Congress, they're clearly not backing down.
03:06They're not satisfied with these answers.
03:08They say this is very clever wordplay.
03:11There is no response on merits.
03:14Rahul Gandhi, leader of opposition, for example, he repeated the charge that the special intensive revision is all about democratic
03:24rights, no doubt.
03:25But voters in India are being denied their rightful place in this electoral process.
03:31The Congress Party maintains that the fight is not merely about paperwork, but whether every eligible citizen actually gets to
03:38exercise their right to vote.
03:41And now, the Congress Party says they will take this war even further.
03:46The Congress Party now wants to have a mock parliament.
03:52And in this mock parliament, there will be a debate and ultimately mock impeachment of the CEC Gyanesh Kumar.
04:02Now, the Congress Party says their efforts to have this mock parliament have been blocked.
04:07The Ashok Hotel, where they plan to have this mock parliament, apparently, Congress says police denied them permission.
04:16But the Delhi Police has issued a clarification countering the claims of the Congress Party.
04:21Delhi Police officials have said that the Congress Party's NOC to have a protest at Ramlila ground has not been
04:29withdrawn.
04:30Protest permission still stands.
04:33Police say they are not interfering with any of the rally preparations.
04:38The proposed mock parliament inside the Ashok Hotel falls outside the jurisdiction.
04:44So, they say we have nothing to do with what happens inside the Ashok Hotel.
04:49As far as Ramlila Maidan is concerned, they have permission.
04:52They have an NOC.
04:53They can do what they want there.
04:55Where the Congress Party, they have dug in their heels.
04:59As they say, they will continue with their protests at the Ramlila Maidan.
05:04Traders are now red flagging these planned protests.
05:07Traders in that area, they are asking the Congress Party to shift either to Burari or to Nehru Stadium.
05:15Where at least business in this very important festival season will not be adversely impacted.
05:24They have actually warned, they have cautioned that if protests are held at the Ramlila Maidan.
05:29And if it's a sustained protest, then 20 markets, 20 markets in and around that area of Ramlila Maidan will
05:38be adversely impacted.
05:40And the losses could be up to a tune of 10,000 crore rupees during the festival season.
05:47And then they say there are multiple hospitals in the region.
05:51Entry and exit, including of emergency vehicles to hospitals, may also be adversely impacted.
05:57The BJP has taken up this issue.
06:01They have accused the Congress of putting their political agenda ahead of public interest.
06:08The BJP has accused the Congress of putting politics over public,
06:12alleging it's turning the SIR battle into a political campaign, ignoring traders' concerns over business losses.
06:19This political contest is now moving towards the month of November,
06:23with both sides preparing for contesting street campaigns.
06:28So Rahul Gandhi's Congress is pushing a Save Democracy agenda.
06:33The BJP is launching a nationwide padhyatra from the 1st of November under the slogan,
06:38Lok Tantra Bachao or Save Democracy, Arajakta Hattao.
06:43The BJP says the campaign is intended to counter the opposition's narrative
06:48and create awareness about the special intensive revision of the electoral rolls.
06:53And there are multiple union ministers and chief ministers from NDA-ruled states
06:57who are expected to participate in the counter-mobilization
07:01to indicate a national footprint.
07:05Battle lines are very clearly drawn.
07:07Congress protest versus BJP's padhyatra.
07:11The big question, is it about protecting voter rights as the Congress claims
07:16or politicizing the electoral revision as the BJP hits back?
07:20Then the Congress says, why is it that the BJP says a Congress rally will lead to disruption
07:27but a BJP padhyatra in the same festival season will not?
07:31We'll get you all sides of the debate, keeping India first.
07:36But first, let me get you the war of words.
08:07We will make you the war of words.
08:11I don't think we will stop.
08:14We will not stop until Gyanesh Kumar will not give their support.
08:18Until Narendra Modi Ji will not attack Gyanesh Kumar,
08:22we will not stop the opposition.
08:24We can do this in the country.
08:28So, that's not the reason.
08:30The reason is that you will protest against people's lives,
08:33people's lives, people's lives,
08:35people's lives, people's lives.
08:38They will protest against people.
08:40We want to do this in other countries
08:41and produce some of the trade.
08:46We will not stop there.
08:47The whole country isabeled.
08:48I also have been saying that.
08:52I was asking,
08:55we will not hire some people.
08:58Don't let us know that
08:58there will be more people who have arrived.
09:00The people who have arrived at the country
09:00will be satisfied.
09:02What will the police tell us?
09:04The only time is the most common points.
09:10.
09:33first of all they need to go alone then they came here they told we can't allow you
09:40that means this is not the Delhi police decision it is the decision of Mahirandra Modi and Amit Shah
09:46their pet are Ganesh Kumar to be protected this is what they're thinking but we are
09:57not going to succumb on their pressures the traders are appealing to him he's asking the
10:04traders to do his work in effect that he's telling the traders that why don't you ask for the
10:08resignation they are saying we want to enjoy the festival of Diwali we don't want disruption in
10:13our business we want our customers and our other people to move freely so Rahul Gandhiji's politics
10:19is very strange what is his demand his desire he now wants to give it to the traders and ask
10:25them to do it what the traders will say on this is best to ask them
