Prime Minister Narendra Modi targeted the Congress party following the MLC election results, highlighting that the polls were conducted using ballot papers rather than electronic voting machines. Across the 28 seats contested, the Congress failed to win a single seat. Taking to social media, the Prime Minister posed the question of how many seats the Congress won, taking a dig at the opposition's repeated demands to abandon EVMs in favour of paper ballots. The Bharatiya Janata Party maintained that allegations concerning voting machines and vote theft are mere excuses for poor electoral performance, while also staging a counter-demonstration against opposition protests.

00:00Let's begin with breaking news that's coming in.
00:02Prime Minister Modi has taken to social media to comment on the MLC election results
00:07and the fact that Congress has won zero of the 28 seats that were up for grabs
00:13and highlighting the fact that these were in fact elections held on ballot paper,
00:18something the Congress has constantly been demanding because they say they have no faith in EVMs.
00:22But here's what the Prime Minister has said, that this election was held on ballot paper.
00:27Guess how many seats Congress won?
00:29He's put out that post on social media along with an emoji with the lens,
00:35almost as if they're hunting for how many seats the Congress has won.
00:39So this is the tongue-in-cheek comment by Prime Minister Modi, a jibe clearly at the Congress.
00:45The BJP has been flagging this very issue because in the last few months
00:48where we've seen this entire showdown over SIR,
00:51where we've seen this entire showdown over the EC
00:53and over the use of EVMs by the Congress,
00:56who constantly said go back to ballot paper,
00:59the BJP saying that irrespective, you are unable to deliver electorally,
01:04you're unable to perform.
01:06And so essentially coming back to the narrative that they've been pushing forward,
01:10that all of this vote-shory claims, the EVMs are all excuses
01:13because the Congress has failed to deliver electorally.
01:16Let me take this across to Aishwarya Paliwal for more details.
01:19Aishwarya, the Prime Minister now leading the charge against the Congress,
01:22highlighting that of all of the seats apart for grabs, the Congress was a duck out.
01:31Well, definitely, you know, we have seen how it's the Congress party,
01:34the main opposition party, Rakshita.
01:36They have been in the national capital, out on the streets, gathering a lot of support.
01:41You know, we have seen how thousands of people, in fact, have been coming to the national capital
01:45and they all have been pointing fingers at the BJP and the Election Commission
01:50and saying that we are not winning elections because of you.
01:53The Prime Minister said that these were held on ballot paper.
01:57Now, these were not elections that were being held on the EVMs
02:00because the EVMs is also something, Rakshita, we have seen the opposition often raise fingers at.
02:05These elections were held on ballot paper.
02:07And despite that, all the MLC elections were won by the Bharti Janta Party.
02:12The Congress was not able to open, you know, the account.
02:17Now, this is something which is a telling tale of how they are managing elections.
02:21The Prime Minister, the last line of his tweet, he very clearly says,
02:25guess how many the Congress won?
02:27The answer is zero.
02:28They have not been able to win even a single seat.
02:31So, this is a telling thing, especially because these elections were held on ballot paper and not on the EVMs.
02:36Okay, as we speak, Aishwara, there is tracking the rally being led by the BJP called the Save Democracy March
02:43where they're countering the Congress on the issue of SIR and all of, in fact, the protests,
02:49the street stairs that we've been seeing by the opposition.
02:51Thanks, Aishwarya, for those details.
