00:00Follow Chief Minister Vijay's example is the message from the Madras High Court to non-Hindus wanting to enter temples
00:08in Tamil Nadu.
00:09The Madras High Court has once again ruled that non-Hindus cannot enter temples in Tamil Nadu without affirming their
00:18reverence for the presiding deity
00:20and agreeing to follow the customs and practices of the temple, much like what we see in temples like Tirumala
00:27Tirupati.
00:27But what was the reference to Chief Minister Vijay?
00:30Chief Minister Vijay recently visited the Madhuri Meenakshi Temple.
00:33Those images are on your screens.
00:35And as a Christian, he signed the mandatory undertaking that he holds reverence for the presiding deity of the temple,
00:40Goddess Meenakshi.
00:42Referring to this, the Madras High Court pulled up other politicians in light of some incidents of non-Hindus entering
00:48temples in Tamil Nadu,
00:49including aides of TVK ministers who entered a famous temple in Tiruvannamalai wearing skull caps.
00:54So the High Court referring to Chief Minister Vijay said,
00:57A Christian by faith, he was not asked to convert, but was only requested to affirm his reverence for the
01:03deity.
01:03This is what we call an inclusive approach.
