00:00Now, in what's being viewed as a big warning from the Yogi administration to regime change backers,
00:05the Yogi Adityanath government has made it clear that individuals linked to organizations
00:10seeking regime change through what it calls violent means will be ineligible for government employment.
00:18India today has learned that these revised rules will apply to direct recruitment
00:22across government departments, corporations, councils and local bodies.
00:26So, big, big move there by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath where, in fact, a decision has been taken
00:32that anyone who's been part of an organization that resorted to violent means and pushed for regime change
00:38will not be eligible for a government opportunity for a government job.
00:43Samarth, you know, what is the wording exactly here?
00:46Because there will be a lot of questions about the terms and conditions, how this works,
00:50which organizations are actually a no-go for the Yogi government.
00:54Have they been named?
00:59See, it's a big thing that has come in Uttar Pradesh.
01:02Clearly, the document we have got has stated that whosoever student who will be, in a way,
01:09found in those particular protests which are about the regime change
01:12or the students who have found links with those who are, in a way,
01:17urging the students to come in protest for the regime change
01:20will not be considered for the government jobs.
01:22That's what the letter of a senior IS officer who is in that particular department claims.
01:28And this is a big thing in Uttar Pradesh because we are seeing many such protests happening all across the
01:33nation.
01:34And at that point of time, Yogi government has come up with this particular order.
01:38We have seen many protests happening around this particular state about recruitments.
01:42Those are pending either in UPSC or in UPSCC.
01:47But now, though this order also clarifies that it is about the regime change.
01:51It has nothing to do with the political ideology of any particular student.
01:55Like if any political students support Samajwadi Party or Congress Party, the government has nothing to do with that.
02:00It's only about the call of regime change.
02:03If any student was found supporting the regime change thing or was found participating in such protests which are about
02:11the regime change,
02:12they will definitely not be considered for the government jobs in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
02:16The challenge is, Samaj, just explain this further to us.
02:19Because right now, considering we've been seeing protests by some groups who've spoken of regime change,
02:24but that hasn't been the theme of the agitation.
02:26Will that mean that anyone who participates in that protest therefore is automatically disqualified from getting an opportunity to work
02:32in the U.P. government?
02:38That's a good part, Akshita, because we see that they have called for the regime change.
02:42But now, as you just said, the opposition parties are slamming the BJP and the U.P. government for this
02:48particular thing.
02:49They are saying that this rule that has come up by the U.P. government is against the constitution.
02:54They are, in a way, trying to take up the freedom, the choice, the right to act,
03:00which is already written in the constitution of those particular students or those particular people who try to be a
03:06good government officer.
03:08They are, in a way, shutting the voice of those who come up to raise their voices in their protests.
03:13The SP leaders, the Congress leaders are now saying, if any recruitment is pending for years, what a student will
03:19do?
03:19Whether he'll sit inside his room, inside his home and just wait for four to five years for that particular
03:24thing.
03:25And when he'll hit the ground, you'll call him a regime change person.
03:28So that has been the thing, whether the policeman will differentiate between a normal protest or a regime change protest.
03:34Because it's very easy to label anyone by anything.
03:38If a student is protesting for any recruitment which is pending for years, you can't call it a regime change.
03:44That's what the opposition parties are claiming. Now we have to see what BJP has to say about that.
03:49So a lot of questions on whether something like this can actually be misused against individuals.
03:55Also because there's a lot of loopholes that can be misused as well.
04:01You know, there is absolute clarity that's needed really on what the government intends to do by putting across this
04:06kind of an order.
04:07And whether authorities will be able to actually crack down in the manner that they actually envision or will it
04:14be based on how they deem fit.
04:15Thanks very much, Samad, for those details.
