00:08the car scott anderson 97.1 uh all right it's time for the nfl blitz thingy
00:25i believe i'm up first today
00:31are you i think so no you're looking at gator and gator was just like staring at you i'm not
00:34sure
00:35were you did you want to go i thought i went i thought i went second yesterday
00:40i don't care you go okay all right doug you're going first all right all right question number
00:43one what's more shocking the chargers being winless or the vikings being undefeated okay um i'm gonna
00:50start this i'm just gonna make a statement put a pin in it we'll circle back jameer gibbs has nine
00:55touchdowns stop back to the question they're both crazy the chargers preseason total was nine and a
01:03half the vikings preseason win total was eight and a half so they're both amazing but i'm gonna go with
01:09the vikings because of the division and the way that they are doing it is absolutely unbelievable
01:16the vikings scored five offensive touchdowns in their season opener it's almost november they have
01:24scored four offensive touchdowns since for a total of nine touchdowns offensively all season
01:32jameer gibbs has nine touchdowns i'm far more shocked by the vikings and how they are doing it
01:42this question um is i mean you can make your argument either way that's why i can't ask the
01:46question but i'm gonna say it's the vikings because i can see a team starting off a season
01:51going winless because there might be an injury to a key player the charges have lost like their
01:57entire offensive line that's devastating and they're gonna have no shot you know in a lot of
02:02those games and they've fought and they've scratched and clawed and come close a couple of times but i can
02:07understand why they're on uh why they're winless at this point vikings i mean it's hard to believe
02:12a team's undefeated with only nine offensive touchdowns through six games i guess we're
02:17getting back to the age of defense wins championships potentially they only give up 12 points a game um
02:22and they're scoring that with field goals every game so it's it's amazing what the vikings have done
02:27i think it's it's by far the uh the more impressive feat yeah to me i i agree with the
02:33vikings as well
02:33that's more shocking to me but honestly it doesn't even matter how they're doing it i know
02:37what you both said with the the low offensive production they're undefeated i don't even care
02:42how they're doing it the minnesota vikings are the last team standing without a loss no one
02:47respected this team heading into the year especially not lions fans i always thought
02:52they'd kind of be a tough out because i respect kyler murray than most people do i think kyler murray
02:56can still be a good quarterback in this league but it's not even him the reason why they're winning
02:59these games it's obviously the defense um the the winless thing with the chargers i agree with you
03:04agree with you gator it's not unfathomable to believe a team would go winless because of injuries
03:09they have a new offensive coordinator as well those things you can't fully predict so to me
03:13the vikings being undefeated is definitely more shocking
03:18all right the colts are clearly having a fire sale should they consider sitting star running back
03:23jonathan taylor until the trade deadline has passed 100 yes absolutely they should if they really want to
03:30trade jonathan taylor don't play him um seconds ago a trade just went down in the nfl where a
03:36defensive tackle went for two first round picks right seconds ago that happened a defensive tackle
03:44you're talking about one of the best running backs in the national football league i think it would
03:50behoove them to sit him down and let the offers come on in it's going to generate even more interest
03:55and drive the price higher i'd hand it off to him 60 times this week and next week
04:02and hope that he gets hurt because i don't want him to end up in this division and there are
04:06rumors
04:06that yeah teams in this division the packers and the vikings are going after him i so personally no
04:12don't sit him hand him the football 120 times the next two games and maybe he gets nicked up and
04:19he
04:19doesn't get moved to the division oh so you gotta sit him only if you have a definitive offer on
04:25the
04:25table or offers on the table that you like so that you know you're actually going to trade him i
04:29don't
04:30think fans will like this answer but it is just too risky to play him especially if you know you're
04:35going to trade him almost no matter what um they have to regain some of that draft capital they lost
04:40from the sauce gardener trade and so they have to fully commit to the rebuild i would sit them and
04:45make
04:45sure you have those real definitive offers on the table we're like hey no matter what we will take
04:49one of these offers all right last week mike florio floated the idea that the nfl might be preparing
04:56for midweek regular season games next year the nfl is expected to add another international game
05:02that's maxing out what they're currently allowed under the current cba but the ultimate goal everyone
05:06believes is they're going to have an international game every week of the season which would you rather
05:12eventually have midweek nfl regular season games or an international game every single week okay so
05:18for me it would be international game every single week i don't care for it let me be clear but
05:24i find
05:24myself watching those 9 30 sunday kickoffs more regularly than i expected and i actually find that
05:30i'm looking forward to them oh when's the first game on get stuff done 9 30 on a sunday morning
05:35it's kind of a recoup day for me anyway uh so i i'm not hating the 9 30 a.m
05:41sunday games now not
05:44all international games will be played at 9 30 on sunday morning but i'm liking those more and it
05:49doesn't really impact my life all that much i don't need tuesday wednesday friday nfl the only thing i hate
05:54more than the international football game is a game in the middle of the week for the nfl and them
05:59trying
05:59to take over tuesday and perhaps wednesday and every day of the week football i don't want that i'll go
06:05for
06:05the international game because i think it gives them the opportunities uh it's not just playing
06:10in europe as doug pointed out the end it's it's having opportunities to play more games in mexico
06:15open it up to central america how about games in canada nfl games in canada i think would be really
06:21cool um again i'm not a big fan of having these international games but i'm even less of a fan
06:26of
06:26having them earlier in the week so my first thought was the same as you guys right like i don't
06:31want
06:31midweek football international game it doesn't really feel like it bothers anybody but i'm not
06:36gonna lie i would watch the midweek football over the international game that's on at 9 or 10 a.m
06:42the 10 a.m right now sunday game it doesn't do anything for me but the ratings guess what they're
06:48the best thing on sunday morning they average about 7 million viewers it's it's highly more highly
06:53rated than any other sunday broadcast right guess what the thursday night game does on prime
06:5914 million if they do tuesday or with it my point is more people watch the midweek game than they
07:05do
07:05the sunday international game so i guess in the end if they do midweek football i'm gonna end up
07:10watching that more than i care about the international games now so although i don't really want the
07:14midweek football it would probably affect my life more if they had midweek football because the
07:18international game doesn't affect me at all right now all right if jj mccarthy leads the
07:23it leads the giants to the playoffs this year who should be the giant starter next year at
07:28quarterback all right i feel like there should be a caveat on this and the caveat is what's the
07:33giant's record because it's a terrible division if you're a less than 500 team and you get into the
07:39playoffs it's open competition if the giants somehow screw around and win 10 games this year
07:46and jj mccarthy's the reason absolutely then you start this season he's your quarterback because
07:50he's earned it um i haven't seen the other quarterback do do as well as he has so uh it's
07:57a long way to go but in the end i think if you get if you take your team to
08:01the playoffs it's pretty
08:02impressive i don't like jackson dart and i really like jj mccarthy but my guess is it'll be a wide
08:07open competition uh they roughly make about the same amount of money which is interesting in terms of
08:13cap hit um but if i'm forced to predict who i think it would be who would be the starter
08:19next year
08:21i hate to say it but i think it would be jackson dart so if somehow jj mccarthy leads the
08:27giants to
08:27a division title because that's probably how they would have to get in is win the division right
08:31i think he should get the the head start to be the starter next year i mean he would possibly
08:36has anyone ever won comeback player of the year award for making a comeback during that season
08:41because jj mccarthy got cut or got traded and well actually he got demoted like third string first and
08:47then eventually got traded so everyone thought maybe his career was over but if he somehow leads
08:52the giants to a playoff berth i would i would raise my hand be like i did not expect that
08:57coming
08:57uh truthfully also i don't think dart i don't trust him i think he's always going to get hurt because
09:02he
09:02just makes dumb plays on the field he's always putting himself in danger i don't think he'll be
09:08available anyway so i would give it to jj
09:15is any head coach going to get fired in the middle of the season and if so who's the first
09:20one let's
09:21let the colts clear out continue sorry shane steichen you may as well get bombed out as well
09:27get to the front of the line in the next hiring cycle wow uh let me first start by saying
09:32i think
09:33dan quinn should have been fired already in washington is ineptitude in consecutive weeks
09:38is clearly unacceptable to me uh i think it's unacceptable to most people but there he is he
09:43still has a job and sadly i feel like aaron glenn is going to beat him to the punch uh
09:48the gm has
09:49done him no favors i want him to get another year with all the draft capital they're going to have
09:54uh upcoming uh and get a chance to coach up those young players i just don't think he's going to
10:00get
10:00that chance it's in new york is a very fickle market they they want change right away if things
10:05aren't going their way and for the jets it hasn't gone their way in a long long time so i
10:10think we'll
10:10see a lot of turnover in the head coaching positions when it's all said and done but most of it
10:14will be
10:14done after the season so as far as in season i'm gonna go with dan quinn i can't believe he
10:18still has
10:19a job i would have let him go after the first time remember when we talked about that crazy ending
10:23of the game where they didn't even get a field goal off what does the guy have to do to
10:26get fired
10:27around here coach with a hat on sideways i mean he's already done it backwards he's
10:30coaching with a hat forward maybe sideways to get him fired
10:37all right last one jay-z officially announced himself as the halftime performer for the super
10:42bowl uh halftime show this year your thoughts i don't really care it doesn't appeal to me
10:48having jay-z as the halftime uh show uh the halftime performer um it the halftime show it hasn't
10:57appealed to me in a long time uh i i have to go back to i think it was super
11:02bowl 44 when the who
11:03was the halftime performer and believe me i i get it a lot of people don't care about the who
11:08either
11:08that's fine it's to each their own with a musical taste that being said just because i didn't have
11:14any feelings for it going into it doesn't mean that i wasn't entertained and some of these halftime
11:19shows over the last few years i have been entertained by and maybe for me it was surprising but heading
11:25into it i don't care that it's jay-z i don't listen to jay-z this storyline i do not
11:31follow it
11:32religiously my commitment to not caring is unparalleled i have a dogged commitment to not
11:38caring who the halftime performer is but what do you mean he announced himself well he's the he's
11:44the head of like taking care of the entertainment for the super bowl halftime and he just picked
11:48himself yeah that is rock nation baby that is hysterical you know what there's nobody better
11:54and he just picked himself if we're up to me it'd be hologram prince all right well i say it
11:59every
11:59year people love to re overreact to whoever is announced as the halftime performer shocker some
12:06people will like it and others won't it's almost like we all don't have the same taste in music
12:12so i almost always watch it because it's part of it's part of the spectacle that is the super bowl
12:17you know like whatever i don't care who's on i'm just gonna watch and see what happens and see the
12:21entertainment value if they provide if any personally i'll be very intrigued though because i think jay-z
12:26is gonna have a ton of cameos and this is my era and genre of music so i'll maybe be
12:31a little more
12:32in tune this year than others but i was gonna watch it anyways and if i didn't like it i
12:35would just bail
12:36so it is what it is there it is that concludes the wide nine omaha four down around the league
12:42blitz thingy all right nfl huge trade just took place we got to talk about it we'll get to that
12:48today at 10 50
