00:17you guys have been on fire with these submissions we don't have a rodney the clown this week
00:24that was epic but i really like these questions and i can't wait to get john's feedback you can
00:29send them in dear john jansen at gmail.com cold weather tailgate food let's start there okay dear
00:36john i participate in a high school football tailgate which is late in the day and starting
00:40to get a bit cold i have a black stone or a gas burner that i'll bring but i'm blanking
00:45on good
00:46food options to warm up before a cold weather game help me out so the gas burner i would probably
00:55go
00:55that route and bring a a big pot of chili sit it on top of the gas burner you can
01:02put it on low
01:03and it just acts as your oven right and people could come and go as they want uh to me
01:08that is
01:09the ultimate and now what you what you need is obviously people are going to come with their
01:13own serving if you're going to share this and it's going to be for the masses you're going to have
01:18to
01:18provide something for them you know whether it's plastic bowls some napkins because it's obviously
01:24going to be hot under the plastic bowl but i think that is the ultimate and you can even make
01:29it a little bit thicker that way no one has to worry about it dripping all over their clothes
01:34put some fritos out there something that they can dip in there i think to me that is the ultimate
01:42tailgate cold weather grab and go type of of meal because if you do the hot dogs or the burgers
01:50it's just it you have to spend all the time at the grill versus you put the pot on top
01:56of the the gas
01:57burner and every once in a while you come over and you stir it but people can come and take
02:01it as
02:01they want you don't want something that you have to man the entire time i mean this is this is
02:06this is
02:07right up your alley oh yeah don't i have nothing to contribute except i don't go to tailgates for the
02:11food so oh i mean there could be a lot of other things oh yeah you obviously yeah you're a
02:18long
02:19time it feels so cold to have their drinks or dinner exactly that liquor coat exactly but john chili's
02:24such a great answer i even remember growing up we had one one friend whose dad would make chili
02:29yeah for the whole group even go back to youth football shout out bob padgett uh chili's a great
02:34call now if you go the route of the blackstone you could get a whole bunch of like sliced
02:41roast beef you know and mix in some green peppers and some onions and then you could keep it simmering
02:47and then people could come over and scoop it into a bun and walk around that's another option i think
02:53the only issue was that is it just takes a little bit more maintenance to move it around so that
02:59the
02:59stuff on the bottom doesn't get burned all right the next one is dating advice dear john i need some
03:04advice because my buddy has come up with what he believes is the greatest dating strategy in human
03:09history and i personally think think he needs to be studied by scientists my friend is 35 single and
03:17recently started dating a woman he really likes they've been on four dates and everything has been
03:21going great she's attractive funny has a good career and actually seems interested in him which is
03:26yeah important sounds like it's unique but here's where it gets stupid he recently told me that he plans
03:32to intentionally forget her birthday next month he believes remembering a woman's birthday during the early
03:38stages of dating sets an unrealistic expectation for the rest of the relationship i told him this is
03:44the dumbest thing i've ever heard he disagrees and insists that women appreciate a man appreciate a
03:50man who improves over time rather than one who peaks too early so here's my question is my buddy
03:58secretly playing chess while the rest of us are playing checkers or is he about to become the first man
04:03in
04:03history to get dumped for a birthday that hasn't even happened yet sincerely a concerned friend who
04:09refuses to attend his next first date um your buddy's a moron an absolute moron if she has talked about
04:19this and or like okay you obviously know somehow and i'm guessing maybe you asked hey when you know
04:27what's your birthday when you know what's coming up don't be a moron don't set the bar so now where
04:34you want to set the bar low is in the gift that you give all right you don't especially if
04:39it's third
04:40or fourth day right you set that bar low so the next valentine's day christmas whatever it might be
04:46her next birthday you want to make sure that you can get over that bar that's where you want to
04:51constantly improve but to forget her birthday that's the dumbest thing i've ever heard
04:59it's stupid don't play games like it should not there should be no game playing when you're dating
05:04somebody that you actually like yeah go out and get her something you think that she would like
05:09or go go do something take her out to dinner go to an event yeah don't play games you're too
05:16old for
05:16that you're what 35 right and if it's not the gift that like you don't want to get a gift
05:21because
05:21it's the fourth or fifth day right what are you going to get them anyway take her to a really
05:27nice
05:27dinner somewhere you wouldn't typically typically go that you haven't gone on the first couple of dates
05:32take a step up but again don't go all the way to the top you have to acknowledge that it
05:38is her
05:38birthday yes yeah this is a clean sweep to forget about it yeah don't create a fight you're gonna have
05:46if this lasts you're gonna have plenty of those for other reasons and some of them for stupid stuff
05:51that you do don't start off doing something dumb save all your dumb moves for later that might be a
05:57reason the guy's built up a little cachet might be a reason the guy's single if this is the dating
06:02strategy yeah that's dumb all right this next one considering divorce dear john my wife and i are both
06:0820 years old been married for a year what and that is young yeah wow married at 19 getting after
06:15it
06:15young my i'm a diehard detroit lions and red wing fan i love playing video games my wife told me
06:22i
06:22need to grow up stop gaming stop watching sports and start acting like a married man she says spending
06:27three hours playing video games is childish but somehow spending four hours watching tiktok and
06:32shopping online is considered self-care now she's demanding i sell my playstation and spend more time
06:38with her i offered to play video games together but she said she'd rather have a husband than a
06:42teenage roommate so here's my question am i immature for wanting to play video games and watch my teams
06:48or is my wife controlling by deciding what hobbies a married man is allowed to have
06:52i'm seriously considering divorce currently sleeping on the couch but on the bright side that's where the
06:58playstation is there's a lot there yep so first of all if you feel you're mature enough at 20 to
07:08get
07:08married and i'm not saying it's wrong i'm just saying it there when you get married you should
07:17want to do things you don't have to give up all your hobbies but you should want to spend time
07:22with
07:23your partner as she should for you as well did it say both of them are 20 it sounds yeah
07:28both 20 years
07:28old okay um this is why i say you know don't get married that young because you they're not kids
07:37i still see them as kids i talk about kids in in college as kids versus young adults they are
07:44young
07:44adults but you are still learning all the things that you like to do versus wanting to give them up
07:51which you should do when you become married you don't have to give up all of them and there are
07:57times where hey you can play your video games you can watch your sports but when you become a
08:05partnership you've got to find things that you guys like to do together what did you do when you
08:10were dating right what attracted you to this individual what did you go on dates like find
08:14that common ground and if if your first reaction is i'm seriously contemplating divorce then you were
08:23too young to be it to make this type of commitment if you want the out that quickly yeah i
08:30don't know
08:30if it even comes down to the age well i do agree i do agree with what you said an
08:34older person can
08:35still get consumed by their hobbies and not show their wife or their partner enough attention and i do
08:40think that's probably what yeah either or and that's probably what all she's looking for i mean
08:45you should still have hobbies if you like to play video games you should be able to play video games
08:49watch sports you should be able to do that but like you said like find some time that you can
08:53carve
08:53out for the two of you to go do something you enjoy show her some affection some that sounds like
08:58is what she's looking for she's looking for some more attention a commitment yeah but she's also
09:04jogging the hobbies saying it makes him a teenager i know she's saying that but i bet if he were
09:09able
09:10to show her some different attention and do some things she wouldn't care so much about the video
09:15games or the sports is if she was feeling that she was getting what she needed 100 most likely it's
09:21something is missing and that's why she is but he's 20 he is young i think part of the challenge
09:27with those two hobbies are you see your partner in your home not spending time with you as opposed
09:32if he was up golfing for three hours it's not in your face that he's not spending time with you
09:37three hours at a time is probably excessive yes you can find windows in your day for me time
09:44while still making your partner feel appreciated and it i know those are his hobbies the hobbies to
09:50me are irrelevant it could be anything you mentioned golf it could be fill in the blank hobby but when
09:57you become a partnership there should be things that yes you want to do by yourself but also a lot
10:03more things that you want to do with this individual and i mean that's where i'm at least that i
10:09don't have
10:09a lot of time to do things together and we're obviously much older than the the 20 year olds
10:14but if you don't prioritize your relationship then it will end the way that he is contemplating
10:23i do think that's your best read on that though is if you're if it's seriously considering divorce
10:27after a year yeah you're too young to make that decision yeah all right there's dear john send
10:33him in dear john jansen at gmail.com 97 one
