00:04What excites me about each season is that you get to research and then translate a concept into
00:11clothing. I'm not just pumping out clothes or following trends. I go in really deep every
00:17season and that allows me to stay true to who I am. Since I was a little kid, I always
00:23knew
00:23that I wanted to be a designer. As early as I can remember, I've kept tears of magazines that I
00:28have in books I would create and collages. And so I did internships in all aspects of the fashion
00:36business that would lead me to this point. The first runway show for me was like, whoa,
00:43I was thinking about this when I was in sixth grade. I've had my line Kimberly Ovitz in the spring
00:492009. I started the company in LA, established all my contacts there, and I just moved the company
00:58from LA to New York. It's going to be a year this March. I always wanted to be in New
01:03York.
01:03It just took me longer to get here than I thought. I think a really important thing to remember that
01:10I
01:10didn't realize when I was just starting the company was that there's no one rule. You don't need to
01:16travel and spend a lot of money to get inspired. Inspiration is around you everywhere if you're
01:22curious and you just have to look and know what's going on around you and it'll just come to you.
01:30I think that it's drive. I think it's passion and it's ambition. I think that you have to know that
01:38it's going to be hard as hell and a lot of work, but if you want something you go get
01:46it.
01:49My name is Kimberly Ovitz and I'm a fashion designer.
