00:01Music for me is such a powerful medium where it can open dialogue about gender identity and gender fluidity.
00:08It creates this safe space that typically difficult conversations or topics can be seen in a different light.
00:14Can you define gender fluidity as it relates to the message that you're putting out?
00:19For me as a queer person, there's just different elements of femininity as a man that I enjoy expressing and
00:26experiencing.
00:28Growing up queer in a religious environment, it was very difficult for me to be open and be honest and
00:33be authentic with myself and with who I was around.
00:36I lived a lot of my life kind of in the corner.
00:40I would put on eyeshadow and mascara and, you know, I would put on makeup and for whatever reason that
00:45made me feel better or made me feel confident.
00:54Why do you think that makeup has this ability to transform you?
01:00Makeup for me is a really therapeutic process.
01:03Sitting in the chair and having this safe place where this identity or gender expression is happening is just a
01:09really kind of calming thing for me.
01:10It definitely helps me transition into a mind frame where I can really just be 100% who I am
01:18on stage and so that I can, you know, sing these songs that are so personal and that I'm so
01:22passionate about in the most authentic voice I can.
01:25Things like makeup and drag and different gender expressions are super powerful for me.
01:30What do you think is the look of femininity for you?
01:35There's so many wonderful things about femininity and there's so many wonderful things about masculinity.
01:40And there's so many wonderful things about all the spectrums of the dial in between, you know, the millimeters in
01:46between are beautiful.
01:46There's delicacy and there's gracefulness and there's things that are traditional when you think of a woman.
01:55And I don't think there's any reason why a man can't embody those things or express those things or enjoy
02:00those things personally.
02:05Just be who you are and that can be beautiful no matter what has been told to you previously.
02:17There's no reason why there's so many different things, you know, how to take care of yourself and what you
02:18think of that, because it's something that I can't afford to have.
02:18It's so important to me.
02:18A lot of people who are really caring for you, you know, you know, you know, and you were waiting
02:18for yourself.
02:18You're really good.
