00:33opt to remove or control their body hair.
00:36Still, we can't seem to articulate why.

00:54by removing hair in certain places we'll look prettier.
00:57If we don't look a certain way,

01:03then, you know, we're gonna be judged in a particular way.
01:05There's gotta be some weird Freudian s**t somewhere in there.
01:09These theories got me thinking.
01:11So I hit my local, uh, library to find out more.
01:17Almost 4,000 years ago, the first ever wax,
01:20called sugaring, was developed and is still practiced today.
01:23During the Roman Empire, pubic hair was viewed as uncivilized
01:26and removed by the wealthy.
01:28Hence why so many statues are, well, smooth in that region.
01:32But America was late in the grooming game,
01:34as going bare down there has really only become the dominant trend
01:38in the past 30 years.

04:23and now hairstyles of the private parts change.
04:27So for now, there are still plenty of women who wax for their own reasons.

04:35It does have that kind of feeling of empowerment.
04:37Like I feel independent, I feel free, I can conquer the world.
04:40But also, it's the winter, so I probably won't be doing it for the next three months.
