00:00The flashlight that was found in the kitchen, the garage, and the knots, the clothing, all
00:07of those things could be retested today, and I believe that more evidence would be found.
00:14These are not the actual items of evidence, we're doing representative tests on these,
00:20what you can find, how you find it, how you collect the evidence, and what it tells you.
00:28A blow to the head on the right side.
00:33The flashlight fits to perfection.
00:38Flashlight and batteries.
00:40So should I take off my gloves and see what I leave on there?
00:45When it was recovered, this flashlight didn't have any prints on it at all.
00:50It seems like any time somebody would push this button on, you'd leave a pretty good
00:55thumbprint there, but let's just try it.
00:58So what I'm going to do is I'm going to open this up and I'm going to pick up these
01:03batteries
01:03and I'm going to put them in and just handle them like I normally would.
01:09Let's collect that.
01:12So you're trying to get samples from all the areas?
01:17Battery surface actually is excellent for fingerprint.
01:21And they didn't find any fingerprints on the battery surfaces, that's unusual because once
01:27they're put into the cylinder here, they're fairly protected and you would think that any
01:33fingerprints would stay on them.
01:35It's possible somebody used gloves, wipe down the outside of this and wipe down the batteries
01:40and then put them back in.
01:41No police officer claimed the flashlight and neither did the family claim it.
01:46There was a gift of a flashlight given by John Andrew, John's son from the first marriage,
01:53that was at least described in the same way.
01:57So it's so crucial to establish this is from the home or somebody else brought that.
02:03We should check DNA.
02:06Right.
02:06Not only outside, also the battery.
