00:03Today we're going to be talking all about press-on nails.
00:07Now before you cringe, these aren't the press-on nails that you used five or ten years ago.
00:12You know, the ones that really ripped our nails out or didn't fit our nails or came
00:16in really gross designs.
00:18These ones are super cute, they're customizable and they actually fit.
00:23One brand I really love is Static Nails and I like them because they have tons of different
00:28colors and texture variations.
00:30This one is this cool chrome oil slick kind of effect.
00:34Alright, let's crack into the box.
00:35Open it up.
00:36This is the smoke and mirrors kit.
00:38I think this is all my nails.
00:41There's the nail file and the nail glue.
00:44Now the only thing this set doesn't include that you might want is nail scissors.
00:49So the reason that I use this is because I like to shape my nails so they fit my nail
00:53bed perfectly.
00:54You don't need to use these but I would recommend them just in case.
00:57Step one, prep your nails.
00:59You want to make sure that your nail beds are free of any oils or lotions.
01:03So I would recommend going to the sink, giving your hands a little wash or you can use some
01:07nail polish remover and just go over your nails really fast just to remove any debris.
01:11Then you're going to want to figure out which of these little nail pieces correspond to your
01:17fingers.
01:17This is arguably the hardest part.
01:19This is big.
01:20I think this is the thumb.
01:26Perfect.
01:27Step two is shape.
01:29Now before you even touch the glue, you have to make sure that these nails are going to
01:34fit your nail bed.
01:35So what I'm going to do is I'm going to start with the thumb.
01:37I'm going to put it on my finger like so.
01:41Now I'm not a huge fan of very, very long nails as you can see.
01:48So what I'm going to do, I'm going to cut around the nail to shorten it.
01:53Now this can be a little messy because you're going to use your file later on to really perfect
01:57the shape.
01:58Another thing you might notice as you're perfecting your nails is that the sides of the nails don't
02:05necessarily fit your nail bed.
02:07So you can also use your scissors here to trim them down so that they're a little less wide.
02:11So this is the length I'm going to go for with my thumb.
02:13It's a little long, but I'm going for a little something extra today.
02:24As you can see, my nails are all done.
02:26The hardest part is over and we're on to step three, glue.
02:30So I'm going to take my glue over here and the instructions say to put a few drops of
02:36the glue on to the center of the nail, drip, drip, and then let it chill for like four seconds.
02:47One, two, three, two.
02:51Now I'm going to turn it over.
02:55This is the moment of truth.
02:57Okay.
02:59I'm going to hold it on for like 30 seconds or until the glue is completely dried.
03:09Whoa, look.
03:11This is like really on there.
03:13Index finger time.
03:14So I've got my nail, a drop of glue, let it sit for a bit.
03:19I really like this color and all right.
03:31I feel like it's like a claw.
03:39My nails are glued on and now we're on to step four, which is the final shaping process
03:45using this little nail file thing over here.
03:47Now, my nails are on and they're a little long, but I'm kind of into it.
03:52You can obviously shape it even more if you want to go even shorter, but I think I'm going
03:57to keep it this way.
03:58I'm going to take my nail file and go to town.
04:02So these aren't the fastest things to put on your nails, but they will save you a lot
04:07of money.
04:08If you go to the salon and you get acrylics, it's going to cost you, you know, upwards of
04:1150, 60, 70 dollars.
04:13And one box of these nails is 16.
04:16And after you're done with your set of nails, they last about eight days and you can just
04:21pop them off in a hot shower.
04:23And then you can reuse your nails as often as you want.
04:25And there you have it.
04:26After four easy, but not necessarily that quick steps, I think this is a pretty solid
04:31manicure.
04:32And I did it all by myself.
04:34And the great thing about them is you can customize them.
04:36You can file them down and shape them to as long or as short as you like.
04:40I obviously went a little claw-like here, but I think it's really fun.
04:44I'm going to have to figure out how to type on my computer, but I think it's going to be
04:48okay.
