00:01Wait until you're...
00:03Stop moving!
00:06Hey guys, it's Mi-Anne and this is Beauty With Me.
00:09Last month I got to see what it would be like to live like a celebrity for the day
00:13and I actually went to Joanna Vargas' spa in New York and tried her body peel.
00:19While I was there, I discovered that she has a new facial called the Supernova facial
00:23that she's been giving to all the celebs this year.
00:27Everyone from Betty Gilpin to Greta Gerwig to Jake Gyllenhaal to Mandy Moore.
00:33So I was like, can I please get a facial too?
00:37And I did! I recorded the entire process because it was very, very cool.
00:42Literally.
00:43I headed over to Joanna's spa again. It's on 5th Avenue in New York.
00:47And I laid down in her super comfy bed.
00:52Supernova facial, let's go!
00:53Ooh!
00:54So step one, I am going to do some exfoliation.
01:00So she uses a machine that has a bit of a tube on the end that very gently exfoliates your
01:05skin.
01:06It uses suction to lift dead skin cells away while also penetrating the skin with a serum.
01:11This is so much more gentle and instead of a dry exfoliation,
01:18this is really making the skin hydrated from the start.
01:22She did that all over my face and then she cleansed.
01:24So she used her vitamin C cleanser to really get all the gunk out of my pores
01:28and she removed it with a really relaxing hot towel before moving on to facial massage.
01:33Face massage is something that's very traditional.
01:37Not only does it relax the client, it actually exfoliates further and it assists in lymphatic drainage.
01:45So after Joanna removed the oils from my face with a hot towel, she took out a dry sheet mask,
01:51which she cut a little nose slit into, put the sheet mask onto my face.
01:56Bye!
01:56And then she doused the dry sheet mask with a mixture of medical grade collagen and peptides.
02:02This is the type of collagen that's used in hospitals in Europe
02:07because it's so helpful in stimulating collagen production in your own skin.
02:13I go over the lips and everything because obviously you have fine lines there around the mouth.
02:21The lips also get super dehydrated.
02:23Same thing with the eye area.
02:25So after laying down the first mask, she actually followed up with another mask.
02:31I am going to cover your face with a bit of gauze.
02:36This is a molding mask.
02:40So this mask is going to go on your face wet and it's going to dry into sort of a
02:46rubbery consistency.
02:48The purpose of this layer is really to make sure that the collagen mask underneath stays completely active the entire
02:59time it's on your skin.
03:01This mask holds in hydration in the skin and pushes it back into the dermis.
03:07So this is going to stay on the face for about 20 minutes.
03:12You can actually feel it and it feels kind of like silly putty in a way.
03:16Now we can bounce things off of your face.
03:20Now we are going to take off your mask and unveil your dewy glowy skin.
03:31Woo!
03:32That was so cool.
03:33It was really cooling.
03:35Yeah.
03:36It felt really good.
03:37So after the collagen facial, Joanna moved onto a microcurrent device, which she glided all over my face, especially into
03:44the contours of my face.
03:45And basically what microcurrent devices do is send microcurrents through your skin, causing your muscles to kind of tighten and
03:52contract.
03:52And the effect is supposed to firm up your face.
03:56Have you ever had a client come in on the day of the event with something like a huge zit
04:02on their forehead?
04:03Yeah, one Oscars I had that.
04:06Really?
04:06I basically put my exfoliating mask on the one breakout at the beginning of the facial.
04:14So I left it on there for over an hour.
04:17It has clay in it so it sucked out some of the bacteria and toxins and it flattened it enough
04:24so it could be covered.
04:25Then was cryotherapy, which honestly was the part that I was most excited for.
04:30People are always scared when they hear that I'm going to do cryo on their face, but it actually feels
04:35good, doesn't it?
04:36Yeah, it feels like an ice cube.
04:38This machine is really cool because it's pushing the cold deep into the dermis.
04:43It increases your circulation, therefore it oxygenates the skin.
04:47Does it work kind of similarly to cryotherapy where because it's so cold, it's forcing a lot of blood to
04:53that area?
04:54Absolutely.
04:54Joanna made a really good point that when you use ice cubes in your face, it does cause a lot
04:59of redness and the cryotherapy device doesn't at all.
05:02So in terms of this facial, which she developed for her clients to do the day of a really big
05:06event, it's perfect because there's no downtime.
05:09You are glowing, girl.
05:11I feel already less puffy.
05:13So the final step of Joanna's facial is the oxygen treatment.
05:17It is a device that is 98% oxygen and she just kind of dusts it all over your face
05:23and it's supposed to really make your skin look super glowy.
05:26So once the oxygen treatment was done, Joanna just put a bunch of skincare on my face.
05:30So she started with her daily serum.
05:33This is the green juice for the skin serum.
05:36It smells like a creamsicle.
05:39This one is just my daily hydrating cream.
05:42It is great to lock in all the moisture that we put into your skin.
05:47My skin feels so smooth.
05:50You're dewy and ready to face the world.
05:53So all in all, I really enjoyed the facial.
05:54It made my skin feel super smooth.
05:56I think that makeup actually did apply pretty nicely over it.
06:00The facial itself costs just shy of $400.
06:03I do think it's a really amazing facial to get before an event.
06:07So if you're going for a wedding or you have a really big party,
06:10obviously if you're a celebrity and you are going to walk the red carpet,
06:13it might be a good facial for you.
06:14Joanna has a ton of celebrity clients and I kind of feel like I kind of walked among them today.
06:20I hope you enjoyed seeing this facial and I'll see you guys next week.
06:23Bye!
