00:01Hey guys it's Emily Curl here and I am in London right now for the Mamma Mia
00:06premiere and I'm getting ready to interview the cast right across the
00:10street. Hi Amanda Seifert Lily James. I'm so excited to be here with you both
00:15today. First off let me just say I saw the movie last night and it is
00:19spectacular. Why do you think it's more important than ever to have women like
00:23that on the big screen? For me getting this part I was like she just feels real.
00:27I know her. I don't know. I know my friends are like that. I felt like how
00:32great to have someone that's so just following her own vibe and so in
00:37control of the choices and so free like sexually and and in every way. It's
00:42important to be fearless and in this time and like just follow your heart and
00:48your gut and the fact is Donna really followed her instincts and I think
00:52that's really important. I mean we all deserve to be honest with ourselves and
00:57go for what we want and go for and follow our dreams and I feel like so
01:01many of us are stifled because of fear or whatever. So we consider this to be like
01:06a love letter to women and when you think of the women in your own life even your
01:10daughter you know when she watches me one day when you think about your mom or
01:13your friends or your sisters when they see it what is the one thing that you
01:16want them to take away on a personal level? Self-love came to mind like Donna and
01:20really respect themselves and love themselves and take care of themselves.
01:24That's so important to me. When you think about you know people that are gonna go see
01:28this movie what is the one thing that you hope resonates most with them? I hope
01:32they feel the joy you know because that's all that's what I felt when we were
01:37doing it. I just felt happy and joyful. It's a very different set than I'm used to.
01:43It's just kind of playing. It's like kids playing. When people watch this film what do you hope that they
01:50take away from it?
01:51Well I think women watching the film it it to me
01:54Mamma Mia has always had a certain amount of empowerment. They are very real and
01:58very kind of real women and then it's dealing with with real-life experiences
02:04that you know you can make a bit of a mess but things turn out okay you know
02:08you got second chances and hope. When people walk away from the movie and women
02:13specifically what is the one message that you're hoping that they grasp and they
02:17hang on to? I feel like it would be like live your best life.
02:20Yeah you know you know whatever whatever defines that under whatever terms
02:24yeah you can you can go to Greece and live there and live in a shack. Do you want to
02:29open a hotel in Palakari? Do you open a hotel in Palakari? Oh honey if you want to come
02:33back and be fabulous and enjoy your wine you do it. Do you want to find a rich husband? Do
02:37you
02:37want to eat cake for the rest of your life? Do it! There's no right or wrong way. You do
02:41you.
02:41I see some kind of innocence and purity about it that I find quite refreshing in the cynical world.
02:50It also doesn't have judgment. I think it just celebrates alternative ways that people find to make family.
02:57And you don't always know what your parents life was before you you came along and I think you know
03:03the
03:04discovery and the closeness and people can be all kinds of different mothers. You haven't got to be
03:08conventional in any any particular way. We're living through such dark scary times aren't we?
03:15I think even more than the first film this this movie will be an elixir. It will be so refreshing
03:20to
03:20people to enter the world of Mamma Mia and and just go off to that island with these characters and
03:26listen to those beautiful songs and just reconnect with the characters that are known and then see
03:32this beautiful young cast performing the younger versions. I mean there's so much good about it that
03:38we need right now. Cher you're so outspoken about the state of our union and our president especially
03:43on Twitter. First off would you ever consider running for the gig? No I've had too fun a life but
03:50no it's
03:52not ever going to be my job but I could do a better job than he's doing. One thing that
03:57I admire so much
03:58about you both is that you just seem so confident and good in your own skin. Do you feel that
04:03way
04:03first off and how did you think you got to that point and maybe what would you say to someone
04:07who
04:07isn't at peace with themselves? Be patient with yourself. I mean god it takes a while to you really
04:15have to work in order to get to feel comfortable in your own skin I think. Trying to get things
04:19right all
04:20the time which is just a waste of time a waste of energy and and it's a work in progress.
04:25Yeah but
04:25if you just trust yourself it's so much easier to be confident in who you are because everything
04:30around you you can kind of see more clearly. It is such a celebration of womanhood and the mother
04:36and the daughter and the music and for all the cynics who walk in they'll come out really happy you
04:43know you know you go to the theater you go to the you go to the cinema and you want
04:46to be transported.
04:47You too. You want to be moved. You want to feel like that guy out there. You guys are amazing.
04:51Thank you so much. Thank you so much.
04:52And the movie really is so incredible. Oh I loved it. I can't wait to watch it again.
04:56Tell this one story to record. So I was going I was at Bergdorf Goods minutes and they have um
05:01escalators.
05:04One goes down and one goes up but they cross at some point. Right. So there were three girls
05:09together and one of the girls said oh that looks like Cher and the other girl said don't be
05:13ridiculous. Cher's nose is much bigger than that. And I went no you're wrong. And it just passed.
05:19Yeah they just passed.
