00:00Once we got the name Napstar, it was on a poppin.
00:21Hi, I'm Annette Roche, co-owner of Napstar NYC.
00:25And hello, I'm Melissa Roche, co-owner of Napstar NYC.
00:28And we're sisters!
00:37Every year, our roles just keep getting bigger and bigger and we just keep expanding and
00:40expanding.
00:41So it's very interesting.
00:43Yeah, it's nice to have somebody like your sister who you can just trust through the
00:46journey.
00:46Yeah.
00:47We knew it would be successful.
00:49And then we also knew if it failed, it'd be okay.
00:51Like, it's not the end of the world.
00:53She's smart, I'm smart, we're both pretty, like, if we don't have this anymore, it's
00:57gonna be okay.
00:58Like, but we know we took the risk and now that we've taken this risk, we're able to
01:02employ people, we're able to show our children now this is something we can pass on to them.
01:12Every risk is worth it, big or small, and sometimes we have to pay a lot of expensive lessons.
01:17But I think also as our mother, she was an entrepreneur as well, and she taught us that as women,
01:26we
01:26can, you can do it.
01:28You don't have to follow the course that society tells you to follow.
01:32You can do it, and the avenue she gave us was hair, so it was something that was natural to
01:37us.
01:37It wasn't like we had to go learn about this industry.
01:40We already had the industry in our blood.
01:48And that's more of the creative, so she gets the last say or the executive decision on the
01:53creative stuff, like photo shoots, where I'm more of the finance person and the back-end person.
01:57So in terms of hiring, financial decisions, she respects my decision on those terms.
02:02In the beginning, there's a lot more bumps and bruises, because as an older sister,
02:06I wanted to be more authoritative.
02:07Like, I'm your big sister, you have to listen to me.
02:09But we've worked through that, and now it's just more of respecting each other's role in the business.
02:14So I spend the money, she makes sure we have money.
02:18That's exactly what it is.
02:28We just closed one of our locations, and it wasn't because we had to.
02:32It's because we wanted to, because we saw that, okay, we need to shut this down so we can grow
02:38even more.
02:38It was my baby, but it was an active decision that me and my partner thought about and made a
02:44decision to do it.
02:45It's going to lead to my biggest triumph, which is having the number one lock salon in New York City.
03:02Friends, for writing, she has ом enfinned Vision for three minutes.
03:08Thanks for raising the opportunity, we will create love andklapper.
03:09But we will come together.
