00:00Hello.
00:04For those of you who don't know me, I'm Lucy, I'm 26,
00:06I live in New York, and I recently got engaged.
00:10My fiancee, Michael, and I have been dating for almost 10 years.
00:13We got engaged in April, and we're not
00:15getting married until next September 2019.
00:17So we have just about a year between now and then.
00:20But even still, I'm starting to realize
00:22that there is a lot that needs to get done for this wedding.
00:25Wedding planning is one of those things
00:26that you think you've got all the time in the world for,
00:28and then before you know it, the date creeps up around you,
00:31and you're walking down the aisle in your dress,
00:33and you forgot to order your flowers.
00:35OK, that is truly worst case scenario.
00:38I pray that doesn't happen to any of you.
00:40There are certain things I want to track.
00:41I've got stuff I need to keep tabs on.
00:43There's a whole to-do list and specific months
00:45I need to do everything in.
00:47And right now, everything is just floating around up here.
00:49And the odds are, if I continue to work this way,
00:52eventually something is bound to slip through the cracks,
00:54and I might forget something really important.
00:56And I don't want to do that.
00:58You may have seen a recent video that I put out
01:00that's sort of all things wedding planning,
01:02updating you guys on the stage I'm at,
01:04and my registry, and the save the dates,
01:06and everything we have going on.
01:07If you haven't seen it yet, here's a quick recap.
01:10So far, we've picked our venue, our date, our band,
01:12our photographer, our videographer, and our wedding planners.
01:15Some things we have not yet picked are the caterer,
01:17my dress, flowers, lighting, the cake, and a lot more.
01:21So we're sort of halfway there.
01:22I don't know.
01:23We have a long time until the wedding day.
01:24But I've been told by everyone that it's just going to go by in the blink of an eye.
01:28So I'm really trying to stay prepared.
01:30This video was just on the verge of being a classic October or November plan with me episode.
01:35But then I had this moment where I thought,
01:36you know what would be really helpful for me?
01:38Instead of just making another classic month of a bullet journal spread,
01:41make a spread that's going to be useful to me.
01:43So I'm just going to shrink away now so that you can full screen see this bullet journal in front
01:47of you.
01:48As you can see, I'm still using the same bullet journal that I've been using for all of 2018.
01:52It's the one that has a picture of me and my twin sister doing yoga together.
01:56If you flip it upside down, you can see our faces right side up.
01:59But if you flip it right side up, you can see we're upside down.
02:02The page just before this page was my meditation tracker,
02:05where I basically tracked that 21-day meditation challenge from the last video.
02:09I have officially gone through the whole meditation tracker.
02:11I filled in every bubble.
02:13I've completed the 21-day challenge.
02:15So now we're on to the next page.
02:16Just to give you guys a closer look at my engagement ring, I know a lot of you have been
02:20asking me.
02:21It's a circle diamond. It has a split shank going down both sides.
02:25It's actually rose gold, which I love so much.
02:27And that is the ring.
02:28The first thing I did was I took this picture of me and Michael.
02:31I cut it out.
02:33And then I realized I had this iridescent washi tape that is sort of pink,
02:38but when you look at it on an angle, it's sort of green and it glows and it's really shiny
02:42and pretty.
02:42I taped in the four corners with that tape.
02:45On the top, I wrote I do in script.
02:47And then I wrote the month and year of our wedding just below it.
02:50On the next page, I decided to make a tracker.
02:53This page is signifying the amount of months until our wedding,
02:56so I titled it months until quote I do.
03:00And then I drew on these little rings.
03:02And then I drew gemstones on the top.
03:04I filled them in with all different colors,
03:07outlined them with a skinny marker.
03:09Because we're in November right now,
03:10I put this sparkle around the November gemstone.
03:13And my plan is to add that sparkle to the other gemstones as those months pass.
03:17This page was inspired by Laura Bujo on Instagram.
03:20And I topped it off with just a few heart stickers in the corner.
03:23So the next thing I did was I went to a website where I basically wrote in my entire wedding
03:27budget
03:28and split it up into the different things that I'm spending on.
03:30And it created a pie chart for me that I then copied into this ring.
03:34So I filled in each section with a different color.
03:36And then on the bottom, I was putting little color dots so that I can make a key down there.
03:40The largest section is for the venue and catering, which is going to be about 40% of my total
03:45budget.
03:46And then in descending order, I have music, photo and video, flowers, the wedding bands,
03:51my dress, our wedding planners, transportation, the cake, hair and makeup,
03:56invitations, our rabbi, Michael's tuxedo, wedding favors, and then miscellaneous.
04:01This entire budget tracker was inspired by Victoria Aperly, who I found on Instagram.
04:06And just looking at this page wouldn't exactly give you that many details about what percentage each thing is
04:11or how much money is associated with each, but that's something that I know in my head.
04:15So just looking at this breakdown is actually really helpful for me.
04:18On the next couple of pages, I wanted to make sure that I was actually giving myself some concrete action
04:23items.
04:23So I created these two really big charts that have a whole list of things that I need to do
04:28and then the months that I need to do them in.
04:30The first page was for everything before November all the way through March
04:34and the second page is everything from April through September.
04:37On the left side, I put a list of all of my to-dos.
04:40Everything from throwing an engagement party, which we haven't done yet,
04:43to booking hotel blocks, choosing my wedding party, selecting my dress, my bridesmaid dresses,
04:49starting to think about our honeymoon and so much more.
04:51And in the April to September time slots, I have things like order the invitations,
04:56do a hair and makeup trial, confirm the catering menu, the seating chart, packing list for the honeymoon,
05:01get our marriage license, and so much more.
05:04So essentially what I did is I went through and I put a little highlighter mark on the exact month
05:08when I need to do these things.
05:09And if I've already done it, I wrote down which month I did it in the prior section.
05:13This entire spread with the timeline and the dates was inspired by Bujo Auslife on Instagram.
05:18So far the pages in this wedding bullet journal are actually really helpful.
05:22I have a countdown until the wedding, I have the budget breakdown, and then I have a list of action
05:26items to do from November through September.
05:29So as I was looking through the last two pages that I had made, I realized that they were incredibly
05:33useful pages.
05:34They're basically just giant to-do lists, very organized and neat and orderly.
05:38But at the same time, it's very black and white, it just has a little pop of gray.
05:43I also need a little pop of color every now and then, so I decided to use the next page
05:47as just an art page.
05:49I picked up my watercoloring pen and just started drawing some flowers.
05:53All different types of flowers in all different colors.
05:55At first I was just drawing them with the watercolor pen, and then after they dried,
05:59I went back on top of them with a skinny pen and actually filled in the details.
06:03Michael and I still haven't picked our flowers for the wedding yet,
06:06although we have sort of talked a little bit about doing a theme that has the colors white and green
06:11in it.
06:12Flowers are something that I think can really just change the whole vibe of the wedding,
06:15and depending on what color bouquet you pick or what color you put on the tables,
06:19you're really making a major statement and it really does add a lot of life to the room.
06:24So after I drew my flower inspiration, I decided that for the last page of this bullet journal,
06:29it would be the most helpful for me if I could create just a standard habit tracker.
06:33This really doesn't have a direct tie to my wedding, and it's also just a classic habit tracker for November.
06:39But with the items that I drew into it, which include meditating, practicing my handstand,
06:44no phone in the morning, no checking emails after 7pm, drinking my mushroom coffee, and exercising,
06:50these are all things that have really been helping to calm me down and make me feel a little bit
06:55less stressed
06:55with all I have going on at work, and I think that these are really important things for me to
06:59keep up
06:59in the months leading up to my wedding.
07:01Knowing that planning a wedding can become a stressful experience if you're unprepared for it,
07:05or if you're a little bit indecisive, I want to make sure that I'm tracking and doing all of the
07:10things
07:10that I know I need to do to make me feel calm.
07:13So I just went through and I filled out the first and second of November for you,
07:16so you guys could see how I was going to fill these in.
07:18After I flipped back to this opening page, I realized that the page to the left of it was pretty
07:23bland and empty,
07:24so I just added a whole bunch of stickers to it to add a pop of color and bring some
07:27life to the page.
07:28And that is my 2018 wedding planning bullet journal.
07:32I'm really excited with how it came out.
07:34I love the colors in it, I love how functional it is,
07:36and I love that I really decided to do something that was going to work for me and help me
07:40feel more organized.
07:41If anyone out there is engaged or is already married and has created some form of a wedding bullet journal
07:47for themselves,
07:47I would love your tips on trackers or spreads that helped keep you really organized throughout the process.
07:52Or even if you're not yet engaged or if you're never planning on getting married in your life,
07:56just feel free to adopt all of these trackers and spreads to you and your life, however it's going to
08:01help you most.
08:02Thank you guys so much for watching this video,
08:04I'm really excited for 2019 when I'm going to start a fresh new bullet journal.
08:08I already have so many ideas swirling through my head,
08:10I've saved so many inspiration pictures on my phone,
08:13and I'm so excited to create the spreads and share them with you.
08:16See ya!
