00:00Hey guys!
00:00I decided to make another bullet journal video for you.
00:03Woop!
00:05I just shrunk, didn't I?
00:06Alright guys, it's July and I haven't shown you my bullet journal in a little while, but
00:10I'm still using the same exact bullet journal, it's the one with the picture of me and my
00:14twin doing handstands on the front, and I am so, so excited to show you guys how I organized
00:18my July monthly spread.
00:20I've been obsessing over citrus lately, not only how it tastes, but also how it looks
00:25and the color palette of it, so I went with a citrus theme for July.
00:28And now as I show you guys how I set up my bullet journal for this month, I'm going
00:32to disappear so that you're not distracted by my beautiful lemon shirt, and I'm going
00:35to move this over to voiceover.
00:37Bye!
00:38Okay, so, I always start by using pencil in my bullet journal.
00:42I make mistakes very frequently, so using a pencil is the easiest just in case I need to
00:47erase anything.
00:48And I started out by just outlining three circles, and then adding those little sections
00:54on the inside that we see on various pieces of citrus fruits.
00:57I then whipped out my watercoloring palette, and I just freestyled it.
01:02I didn't have the colors planned out or anything.
01:04I just followed my intuition, and one of the fruits turned into a pink grapefruit.
01:12The other turned into a lemon, and the third turned into an orange.
01:22When I'm painting, I love mixing colors, and I don't worry too much about going outside
01:27of the lines because I actually think it's kind of fun, and it looks more watercolor-esque
01:32when it's not 100% perfect.
01:35After I added the color, I used my favorite Pentel pen with an 06 tip to go over the outlines.
01:41I feel like this gives it that extra pop and really brings the illustration to life.
01:55I used the same pen with an 06 tip, which is a little bit skinnier to fill in the insides
02:00of the fruit.
02:01And once again, I did not have a plan here.
02:03I just added squiggles and seed-like shapes to give the watercolor some dimension and
02:09a little texture.
02:10And I made sure it looked different for each of the fruits.
02:13Once the drawing was done, I wrote out July 2018 in pencil first.
02:18And then I used my Tombow calligraphy pen on top of it.
02:21In case you're new to this channel, I made a whole video on hand lettering where I challenged
02:25myself to learn the art of calligraphy in five days.
02:28And the biggest thing I took away from that video was to always make your downstrokes thick
02:33and your upstrokes thin.
02:35But if you're curious or you want to learn more, you should probably watch that video
02:38next.
02:39After the front page was done, I started making my monthly spread by writing the numbers of
02:44the month from 1 to 31 down the center of the page.
02:47And then I drew some more citrus fruits around the outside of them.
02:50I used my Crayola super tips for this and mixed up the colors as I went.
02:55Some of the fruits came out looking a little more neon than others.
02:58But by the end, I really liked the way it looked all together.
03:01Side note, I did not come up with this spread idea on my own.
03:04I actually found it on Instagram on an account called Feet on the Stars.
03:08And I just loved it so much that I had to try it for myself.
03:11After I made the numbers darker with my Tombow calligraphy pen, I went through with my Pentel
03:16skinny pen and outlined the fruits just like I did on the page before.
03:20On my next page, I got a little crafty.
03:22So I took scissors, some tape, and some paper.
03:25And I did a little folding and cutting until the paper was a perfect size to use as a header
03:30on both sides.
03:32This is for a weekly spread.
03:33So I drew three lemons on the left page for Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.
03:40I filled them in, outlined them, and then wrote the days of the week above them.
03:51And then I made four lemons on the next page, filled them in, outlined them, and added Wednesday,
03:57Thursday, Friday, and Saturday on top.
03:59This is another spread idea that I did not invent myself.
04:02I've got to give credit.
04:03I took this idea from the petite planner.
04:06But basically, I put the first piece of paper on the first page, taped it on with my tape,
04:10not forgetting to tape the back down so it stays in place.
04:13And then I actually skipped a few pages and taped the second half of the week to the top
04:18of that page.
04:20I know you're probably like, what are you doing, I don't get it.
04:23But don't worry, it will all make sense soon.
04:26I took the inside pages, tore them down slowly, one by one, to the height of the headers.
04:33And then cut them all at once, so that basically you can see the two headers side by side, and
04:38it looks like there's a full weekly spread on the top, but then there are a bunch of pages
04:42in between to write on.
04:44And I measured it out so that I had just enough room for every day of the week.
04:48I used my Yellow Zebra Mildliner highlighter to draw a yellow bar on each page, and then
04:54I wrote the day of the week inside the yellow bar.
04:57In the past, I've written the days out and then tried highlighting them after.
05:01And I don't know if it's my paper or the pens I'm using, but that always smudges the
05:05ink for me.
05:06So now I always add the highlighter first, and then I do my best to fit the word into it.
05:11When I was done, I realized that especially the edges of the highlighter mark had bled through
05:16the page, so I used my Presto Jumbo Correction pen from Pentel to touch up some of these
05:22spots.
05:23And even though the spots looked way whiter than my paper at first, it actually blended
05:27in really nicely after it dried.
05:29As you might know from previous bullet journals of mine, I don't usually make weekly spreads
05:33in my bullet journal, but this weekly spread was just calling my name, and the first week
05:37of July was extremely busy for me, so it was actually necessary.
05:41Next, I made a monthly mood tracker.
05:43I have never made a mood tracker before, but I've been getting really in touch with my emotions
05:48and my body recently, and I really wanted to track how I feel each day.
05:52I made a giant citrus fruit for this.
05:55I outlined it in pencil first, of course, and then I went over it with my skinniest pen
05:59and outlined the entire outside of the circle.
06:02I had these fruits next to me while I was drawing it, which was definitely a big help.
06:06And then once I was happy with it, I erased the pencil marks underneath and added all the
06:10numbers from 1 to 31 going clockwise in a circle.
06:14I wrote mood tracker on the top and then didn't like the spacing or the placement of it at all,
06:20so I erased it entirely and started from scratch.
06:23And once I was happy with them, I went over the pencil with my Tombow calligraphy pen using
06:28my newly learned hand lettering techniques.
06:31I don't know about you guys, but I didn't learn script that well in school.
06:35And just from watching YouTube videos and following sample writing templates, I've basically taught
06:40myself how to write script.
06:43I drew a little key at the bottom with a range of moods on it.
06:48From a sad face to a medium, eh, type face to a happy face.
06:57I filled in one day just as a sample for you guys to see what it would look like.
07:01And by the end of the month, I'm going to have this weird citrus looking fruit that's
07:05partially a blood orange, partially an orange, partially a lemon, and hopefully it's more
07:10of a lemon than anything else, if you know what I'm saying.
07:13At this point, I went back to my monthly spread and added in a few key upcoming dates to show
07:17you guys how I'm going to use this.
07:20It's more of a top level spread that reminds me of the main event on each day, such as classes
07:25I'm attending, concerts I'm going to, events, and more.
07:28And so now that I have a monthly spread, a cool and creative weekly spread that I've never
07:33used before, and my monthly mood tracker, I decided to make one more tracker.
07:38I used a ruler to make three charts so that I could fit each day of the month, and then
07:42I added in the habits that I want to track on each chart.
07:45There are a few things that I've been trying to implement into my daily life recently, namely
07:50not picking up my phone first thing in the morning, scaling back on sugar, drinking more
07:56than eight glasses of water a day, and incorporating meditation into my life more regularly.
08:06In keeping with my citrus theme, I used my mild liners again to make a decorative header
08:11using orange and pink, and then I used my hand lettering skills to write habit tracker
08:15using my Tombow black brush pen.
08:18You can't exactly see it that clearly, but I did write it in pencil first, so if you look
08:22really closely, you'll see that it's under there and that I'm actually tracing it, and
08:26I'm not just taking the brush pen to my paper and hoping for the best.
08:30I filled in a few days on the tracker just to show you guys how I'm going to color code
08:34it, and that's it.
08:40Also, you'll be happy to know that after I cut up all of the citrus to use it as a
08:44prop
08:45in the video, I ate some of it whole, and then whatever was remaining, I juiced it, and
08:49I made myself a delicious citrus juice.
08:56Thanks for watching this bullet journal plan with me.
08:58Let us know if you want to see more of these, and I'll see you next time.
09:01Bye!
