Here‘s a fact: A good meal is going to be good no matter what. We know that perfectly plating any given dish will not change its taste. But it does help us feel, well, super cool. To help take our presentation skills to the next level, we enlisted the help of Chef Lauren Gerrie. Here, she teaches us how to assemble a quick dessert plate with simple, store-bought ingredients — and turn it into a piece of art. The best part? All you need is a spoon, a Ziploc bag, and a toothbrush (or even just your fingers!) to make it happen. Top Chef Masters, here we come.

00:05This dessert is so simple. You're using all store-bought ingredients with virtually no cooking.
00:11All you have to do is toast your angel food cake, puree your raspberries, and slice your stone fruit.
00:16And then you're ready to plate. The first technique is the schmear.
00:20You're going to doll up a little bit of your yogurt on the plate and then smear it across with
00:24the back of the spoon.
00:25Next, you're going to do the dot. So you take a little bit of the raspberry puree and you put
00:30it into a ziploc bag and cut a tiny bit off the corner and dot all around the plate.
00:34With the remaining raspberry puree, you're going to do the splatter.
00:38And for this, you can use a pastry brush, a toothbrush, you can even use your hand. Just dip it
00:42right in and splatter it on the plate.
00:44To finish, you artfully place your toasted angel food cake and sliced stone fruit, and there you go. A simple
00:51dessert, elevated.
