Double Dare: Eyeliner On Your Top And Bottom Lids? Let's Do This

We like wearing eyeliner on our top lash line. We also like sporting eyeliner on our bottom lash line. But, eyeliner on our top and bottom lash lines simultaneously? Let's just say there's a delicate balance between "rocker chic" and "rolled outta bed after sleeping in makeup."   That said, we've seen many a celeb with all-around eyeliner done right. So, we called in makeup pro James Vincent and asked him to teach us how we, too, could master this tricky trend. With some strategic shading and a couple of key products, Kate, our director of production, got herself a perfectly rimmed gaze. Check out the step-by-step tutorial above.

00:24I'm usually really hesitant about wearing eyeliner on the top and bottom lash lines,

00:28so today I'm really hoping James can show me some new wearable tricks.

00:32I love liner on the bottom, and I love that rock and roll look,

00:36and I want to show you how you can make it super wearable and very easy to apply.

00:40Great.

00:41Let's do it.

00:41So I'm starting with a pencil.

00:43I'm using the whole tip, not just the point.

00:45And I'm lining inside the eye on the top and bottom.

00:47I'm using a bright blue because I really want to whiten that eye.

00:52When you line inside the eye on the bottom, you've got to line inside the eye on the top.

00:57Otherwise, that color is just going to transfer.

01:00I'm then going in with a powder shadow, and powder is long lasting and easy to apply.

01:05I'm using a small angled brush, and I'm just taking that shadow right along the lash line,

01:12and then blending it up and following the actual line of the eye.

01:16Now I'm just bringing the same shadow on the same brush right along the top lash line,

01:21but I'm keeping it really sheer, and I'm pressing the color right into the lashes as well.

01:27It's just going to give us a soft, smooth hint of color.

01:30I'm going to do the other eye, and I'm going to let you take a look.

01:32Great. Definitely want both eyes.

01:43Wow, it's really bold, but I look like a major babe.

01:46I love it. It's a wow. It's not a natural look.

01:49Sure.

01:50But blue is great for brightening the eye, whitening the teeth, lightening the complexion.

01:55It's a great, fun color to bring you right into spring.

01:58That really helps make tired eyes look bright and open.
