00:04what's up Mets fans what's good everybody it's your boy Dexter Henry back with you on another
00:09edition of Straight Outta Flushing with my guy the one and only Tyler Ward aka Wardy
00:15Wardy what's good with you my guy Dex I'm feeling good I hope you are too as we know we
00:20got a festive
00:20weekend with Halloween around the corner so hopefully everyone has a great time because
00:24while it's going to be a busy time for us being out and about it's also going to be a
00:28busy time
00:29for Major League Baseball as the offseason is officially upon us Milwaukee Brewers are World
00:33Series champions and now we can move forward this offseason into really getting what is next for
00:39them and as we know there's some significant news that has dropped over the past 24 hours setting
00:44up the table for us today there you go you talked about Halloween seems like the Mets might have got
00:48a treat with Bo Bichette picking up his option I gotta ask you before we get into Bo Bichette are
00:54you a big Halloween guy are you a big Halloween guy do you love the holiday I don't
00:59I wouldn't say I love the holiday I'm definitely one of those guys where it's like Christmas above
01:03all but then Halloween I like the most I think for the interactive aspect there probably aren't many
01:08other holidays especially you know being younger and like you know especially going to like Halloween
01:12parties and you know doing things with your friends or one of your kid trick-or-treating so I
01:16think it kind of depends on the age group you know at least from what I've experienced so far
01:22uh but yeah no it should be a fun time what about you uh I would say I'm a big
01:26Halloween guy I think
01:27as we've gotten older um I enjoy I have a good friend who she always throws a good party shout
01:31out to my friend Justine uh she always throws a great Halloween party and uh I like going to those
01:37because I get to connect with a lot of people in the broadcasting industry to go to that party
01:40and you know you got the little dressing up aspect I think I enjoy it more as an adult watching
01:44my
01:44daughter enjoy it so much through trick-or-treating so that's kind of my enjoyment of it but
01:48you know I have a little candy here and there I like my neighborhood to do a little parade it's
01:53nice so yeah I I like I like I like the holiday especially since becoming a dad I definitely
01:58appreciate it in ways that I did it you know and it makes me a couple circles back when I
02:02was a little
02:02kid you know and going through that entire thing uh for the first time but yeah no it's always fun
02:07and I think one more uh note on that especially when we look at um you know what we look
02:14forward to
02:14most when it comes to these things the main takeaway I have again is just bringing everyone
02:19together that's always the main yeah you know that's that's why I love most about holidays and
02:23same thing with sports you know I wouldn't enjoy sports and baseball and the Mets nearly as much as
02:27I currently do if it wasn't for the fact that there's such like this awesome niche of people
02:31coming together with the same common interest in something um regardless of what their interests are
02:36with many other things so yeah that's good all right so everybody out there please enjoy your holiday
02:41weekend with Halloween be safe as well too now as Wardy said we are officially into the offseason
02:49Mets have been in the offseason for a while but the rest of baseball now into their offseason as
02:53World Series is over and Bobachette coming back to Queens for another 42 million dollars next season
02:59I think we talked about this a couple weeks ago Wardy from his perspective this decision made
03:02plenty of sense we expected this to happen we thought Bobachette would be back and would opt in
03:07do you see this as a positive development for the Mets or do you see this as one that creates
03:11more challenges for David Stearns going forward it creates challenges in the sense that the New
03:17York Mets have a lot of money already committed for the 2027 season so locking in 42 million dollars
03:23gross for a guy with a 700 OPS isn't ideal uh there's no denying like if the Mets made that
03:28signing
03:28and this current for agent class even with the being as top heavy as it is you could argue that
03:33that's
03:33kind that's kind of egregious but from the standpoint of it being one less thing for the Mets to worry
03:38about and um an offseason where they have a good chunk of things to worry about and building this
03:43roster in a way that could be conducive to having continued success and by continued I mean making
03:48the playoffs multiple years in a row hopefully starting next year should there be a season
03:52I would say that that is obviously a positive behind Bobachette returning and you know there's
03:57multiple layers as to why Bo coming back to the Mets was pretty much a foregone conclusion since May
04:03we've been this drum plenty here on the platform and it was kind of funny to hear
04:06you know contrasting thoughts just in the sense that while you could play devil's advocate with
04:10you know Bo being in this top heavy market and having the urgency that many teams may have now
04:16over the next month up until the lockout officially begins in the first couple days of December or so
04:21what's also true is that you know the risk just has always kind of outweighed the reward
04:25and for Bo that didn't get his footing down until north of two months into the season in a Mets
04:30uniform
04:31as well as you know looking like he can actually opt in for 42 million dollars again a year from
04:36now
04:37uh it's a hard thing to pass up I think if you're Bichette who according to his wife loves being
04:43in New
04:43York now and adjusting there from Toronto and Bo was on record right towards the end of the season
04:48saying how Andy Green is up there with the best managers he's ever had in baseball uh quite a big
04:53thing to say for a guy who's only been manager for a couple months with him um so I just
04:57think all
04:58these things made it increasingly obvious that Bo Bichette opting in uh was something that should
05:03be anything but a shock to us Mets fans yeah and so look David Stearns as we've talked about ad
05:09nosium here is going to have his work cut out for him this all right whether Bo Bichette opted in
05:13or
05:13not I do agree with you I think it's one less thing for them to worry about you now know
05:17we'll get to
05:18this the left side of the infield is now set you don't have to worry about this in this situation
05:22and
05:23you can look at some of the positive which is kind of where I want to go next with Bo
05:27Bichette because
05:27if we talk about what he actually gave him Wardy look he struggled and fans were like oh man here
05:34we go again another big pre-agent Mets signing that doesn't pan out looks like he can't hit looks
05:39like he can't handle New York and then he looked much more like the Bo Bichette that we knew and
05:44expected down the stretch of the season so do you believe in the second half improvement
05:51or and think that's a sign of what we'll see from him next year or do you think the Mets
05:56should
05:56actually be concerned with some of what they saw early in 2026 and maybe think that his best
06:01offensive years might be behind him I think there's always going to be a level of concern
06:06when you invest this much average annual value in a player and they don't meet that output nearly to
06:11your liking when it comes to you know especially I think in the clutch ability the Mets were
06:16wanting to get from Bichette in the first half of the year when they were scrambling to find
06:21consistency in what was such a poor start to the season but what's also true though is that I think
06:25year two of Bo Bichette is going to be a good one for this Mets team between having stability knowing
06:30that he's as of now likely going to be the man at the hot corner but also provides a level
06:35of
06:35diversity for the Mets that we talked about in previous episodes here in straight out flushing
06:38where at the Mets have a Jefferson Rojas and he may profile better at third base you know maybe
06:43the Mets will throw Bo at second for a period of time especially if Marcus Simeon is a non-factor
06:48by
06:48that point or first base the Mets decide to go with a platoon is that something that they would
06:52consider Bo getting rips out if that would maximize their infield of say let's say hypothetical world
06:58everything's clicking for both Rojas and one a Petrie or Voight so much so that the Mets have to
07:05have them in this Mets infield together which would be crazy but a really exciting thing good problem
07:10to have exactly and if the Mets don't have certainty at first base next year which you know the jury's
07:16still out we'll have to see if David Stearns can actually you know not swing and miss his time
07:20around trying to address that area but if he does in fact swing and miss and the Mets have that
07:24platoon again Bo Bichette has a righty bat option you know getting some reps at first and kind of also
07:29potentially increasing his value as a pending for agent for that upcoming offseason where he can show
07:36you his ability to maybe play all around the diamond and do it okay you know shortstop you're not
07:40going to get good defense from him but these other areas you could be getting at least solid like what
07:44we've seen at the hot corner but the point here though with Bo and the value that he brings to
07:49the New York
07:49Mets is that between obviously the defensive versatility as well as the offense a second year
07:54with hopefully a healthier pairing of himself Lindor and Soto will be imperative behind the
08:00success to a degree right you know Bo had 18 home runs this year as he did last year he
08:05had I believe
08:0694 RBIs in 2025 with the Blue Jays in his walk here where he only had 78 this year but
08:10again had more
08:11guys saying the plate for him that we saw you're going Toronto going all the way to the World Series
08:16and
08:16he batted well above league average that season whereas he was around league average this year
08:20for Bo to get back to being that 20 to 30 percent above league average hitter he needs to just
08:26be
08:26more steadily what we saw pretty much from June onward last year which is a north of 300 hitter
08:31with an OPS closer to 800 than 700 and someone who really clutched up I remember as well for a
08:39warning day that I hosted my yearly event that I do with my subscribers at Citi Field June 12th this
08:43year
08:44and that was one of Bo Bichette's best games as a New York Met it was a rain delayed game
08:47on a Friday
08:48night against the Braves it had Nolan McClain on the mound for the Mets and Bo Bichette hit not one
08:53but two home runs including a grand slam and kind of from that point onward throughout the remainder
08:57of the year we saw Bo look comfortable in this Mets lineup for good stretches and I just think a
09:02year
09:03of having New York under his belt is only going to do him right so throwing it back to you
09:07Dex what would
09:08you say is the biggest pro versus con with having Bo Bichette back with this Mets team for next
09:14season oh let me all say this there's one thing I learned from what you just said and that is
09:18you need to have more warty days to help out your boy Bo Bichette you know I'm saying you have
09:22some
09:23more warty days you know you might hit some more bombs save people happier Citi Field we wouldn't
09:27have made playoffs if we did warty days yeah yeah the biggest good question from you because the
09:33biggest pro I would say is just having the continuity of him at Citi Field in Flushing
09:41again because having that continuity what he built on towards as you said from June onwards where he
09:46had a near 800 OPS and looked much more like the player that we had seen from him the year
09:51before in
09:52Toronto I think just having that just having that comfortability with him too and I think that word
09:58is so important when we talk about him you talked about his wife saying that she loves it here
10:01I don't think we talk enough about athletes just as human beings and how hard it is to transition
10:07from one place to another you're getting comfortable your route to the ballpark how your family is
10:12getting adjusted if you have kids what schools you're going to what neighborhood you're living
10:15into I know we'll look at this and say well he's got 42 million dollars there's no problems with that
10:19no it's still life and it's still an adjustment and then you actually have to work which is to produce
10:23the plate and so as Bo Bichette seemed to get more comfortable not that I know all of this for
10:28sure
10:28but it seems that that also impacted the play we saw so if you say that I think that's why
10:33you
10:33Wardy can look at that and say hey I think he'll be better in 2026 right I think he will
10:40be excuse me
10:402027 I think he'll be better there he also really likes this manager he likes this group he has said
10:46that he believes that this team could win now all that confidence is good he's got to produce at the
10:50plate but I think the continuity and comfortability are the pros here the con for me would be if you're
10:58just looking at this purely from a value and number standpoint is that oh okay you have another 42
11:03million on the books what if this goes wrong however there's always risk in everything right
11:09the thing for the Mets is and when you say the risk is the Mets don't have control in the
11:13situation
11:13Bo Bichette has all control in the situation so Bo Bichette has another down year he would be likely
11:20then opt in a year ago a year from now where we are into that 42 million dollars and you're
11:25saying you
11:25might say to yourself well as a Mets fan or as David Stearns if he still has a job we
11:29we being
11:31the Mets could be able to put that money elsewhere allocate the resources elsewhere because the Mets
11:36are already an expensive roster and if we're being 100% honest here they've also been an underachieving
11:41and failing roster so you want to make sure you get the value there's risk in that I'm I tend
11:47to
11:48believe more personally in the comfortability and continuity that is something I think that should be
11:53valued in sports I don't think we should always chain make change for change sake so I think he's
11:58a good hitter I think Bob Bichette's a good player I think he'll be even more comfortable if third I
12:02didn't even get to the defensive side of it we're just talking about hitting I think he'll be more
12:05comfortable playing third and to your point if he provides versatility even more around now you're
12:11feeling good my question to throw it back to you is now that he's back and it appears that the
12:17left
12:18sided infield is set does his return change the way Stearns handles those other infield spots
12:24of second base and first base which we talked about over the last couple of weeks do you think
12:29Bichette being back now might change how Stearns goes about addressing those two spots I would say yes
12:35if Bob Bichette had a monster year and there was this industry belief from the halfway point onward that
12:41oh yeah he's 100% lock opting out but then Andy Green maybe as an example coming in as manager
12:47just swayed him in a way that he's like you know what I ain't leaving pulling a hole Leonardo
12:51Capra street out Wolf of Wall Street so that that isn't the case here um but can you go back
12:57to
12:58actually finishing what you just said for your last point because I lost my train thought I got no I
13:01was just I was no no no it's fine it's fine I was just curious is that now that he's
13:05back right and
13:06it looks like the left side of that infield is set will that change David Stearns approach on how he
13:11should handle first base and second base correct and like I said because it felt like a foregone
13:16conclusion that Bo is going to be staying I don't really think it changes much for him you know I
13:20think that this is already part of the plan a for the David Stearns offseason plan heading in you know
13:26because when we think of the plans that they set every single offseason they have them essentially
13:29a through z and that's why Bob Bichette wasn't plan a for them but he became right ultimately what
13:36they landed on after they swan and missed on Kyle Tucker so and in hindsight honestly when you look at
13:44the side-by-side comparisons of two guys adjusting to new markets for new teams with the team that
13:49Kyle Tucker had versus what Bo had in the first half of the Mets especially without Juan Soto and
13:57Francisco Lindor for great stretches of season you can make a rightful argument that even with Bo being
14:02the quote-unquote consolation prize of those two he's probably the better fit for this organization
14:08currently when we look at the blossoming of Benj Ewing keeping Soto to have some outfield reps and
14:14the Mets needing some certainty at the hot corner you know but obviously Brett Beatty provided a level
14:20of that with the team a couple years ago but since he's been more in this utility role they've still
14:24been longing for a guy that can come in and handle his own at the hot corner while also being
14:28a league
14:29average to well above league average bad and Bo has those qualities so I think all in all this is
14:34one
14:34lesson for David Sterns have to worry about and when we look at approaching first base second base
14:39outfield to a certain degree the rotation the bullpen this just sets the Mets up I think to have a
14:46faster and more effective offseason which they're gonna need decks because we got a sprint over the
14:52next four weeks yeah that now that's the interesting thing right it's all it feels like it might be a
14:57little offseason speed dating you know what I mean in this situation where especially because we talked
15:02about this before in the show right some guys are gonna be like hey look I want to get my
15:06contracts
15:06locked in I want to know where I'm playing if there's going to be a lockout a lot of locks
15:11there
15:11no puns intended there but if there's going to be a lockout they're gonna want to know that they're in
15:15with the team what their situation is I think it's gonna be interesting for not maybe as much some of
15:20the top guys but some of the middle class as you'll say of baseball will be really interesting there
15:25but when you look at the Mets Wardy and it wasn't just Bichette because the offense overall for the
15:32Mets was better later in the season than we saw much earlier in the season and so now with Bichette
15:37back in the lineup if we take out first base and second base do you think this allows David
15:42Stearns to put most of his attention and resources into starting rotation which you and I think is
15:48something they need to upgrade for sure we could also talk about the bullpen or would you just say
15:53hey man this offense still needs another impact back or can he do all three do you think he should
15:58put
15:58his time attention resources into all three oh definitely can do all three I mean if you're not
16:04somewhat ambidextrous as a president I think there's an issue you know you got to be able to do
16:09more than one thing at a time here seriously and we have seen David do that but we've seen him
16:14make
16:14multiple moves you know in the same day within you know only a couple hours a part of each other
16:19we've
16:19seen also not just Stearns but when we go back to four years ago the guy who just won a
16:23world series
16:24in the Brewers front office funny enough not David Stearns no we're talking Billy Epler and Billy Epler
16:29did a lot in a very short period of time before the impending lockout four years ago like think
16:35remember the trickle effect I want to say something more either you know a half hour to like an hour
16:40or
16:40two apart from Eduardo Escobar to Starling Marte to Mark Hanna to then Max Scherzer it was a flurry and
16:47the Mets for the top dogs and being big spenders right up until that lockout began and while they
16:54may not necessarily be top dogs to that degree this time around they're definitely going to be
17:00pushing as far as he possibly can for Tarek Schuble so that's what we're going to watch most intently
17:07but do I think that Schuble will be the first domino to fall no and because we all know that
17:12Schuble
17:13likely won't be the first domino to fall as the Scott Boris client the Mets need to make sure that
17:17they
17:17are say what me Dex proactive oh there we go and addressing these other areas of need so I you
17:25know if there's anything that I think could be of similarity to recent years with Stearns because I
17:29do think that there will be some overlap I don't think he's going to completely 180 his offseason
17:33approach even though he probably should when it comes to acquiring external talent but I do anticipate
17:37we'll see the Mets probably make some moves soon of again kind of like what they did they just
17:42brought in Kyron Paris who was a former top prospect a couple years ago from the Angels
17:47you know and a nice little waiver claim there as well as you'll see you know maybe they'll make
17:51a move and have another Jared Young situation where they get a guy from the KBO or the MPB that
17:55we're
17:55not talking about as much you know separate from like the more coveted Taiyaki Sato and then you'll
18:00see like some just other smaller moves that are not bad players but just not guys that you necessarily
18:05were thinking about because you know that's this is how Stearns works to a degree and then from there
18:10you know the reliever market you know how how interested are the Mets at all and what's available in the
18:15for agent market there you know are they going to try to run it back when anyone that they parted
18:19ways
18:19with you know things we'll discuss in future episodes but I think all in all we're going to
18:23see David do his usual approach in acquiring some you know solid guys but nothing that are drastic
18:30needle movers and then once the heart of this next month of an offseason really starts to pick up
18:37even if it's in the next week or so I highly anticipate that we'll see the Mets in the thick
18:43of it all
18:43you know maybe some things we won't hear until the news happens and that's fine I kind of prefer that
18:49at times because you know I feel like there's an increased likelihood of not landing a certain
18:53player when it's right or to constantly constantly unless it's like Juan Soto because Steve wasn't
18:58going to take no for an answer yeah that's my stance on all that how do you feel I feel
19:05that
19:05one Dave Stearns has got to do his due diligence with everything I would think it would be a shame
19:13if we don't hear in the next couple of weeks that he's kicking tire kicking the tires excuse me on
19:18first base options in particular uh to upgrade there whether it's via trade whether it's via free
19:24agency second base as we've discussed already in looking at our series on different positions around
19:29here I think you can be a little bit more flexible with that I think you can use some of
19:33the the young
19:34players it wouldn't shock me if they go that route um as far as the bullpen you know bullpens are
19:39volatile from year to year as we know and the Mets bullpen which we were a little concerned about
19:44with all the pieces they traded away uh at the deadline was actually solid there were some
19:49impressive guys in the pen down the stretch so how you add to the bullpen what are the defined roles
19:55is Kodai Senga going to be the closer getting clarity on those kind of things you know Devin Williams
20:00and his role like what's the how's that going to shape out um you know relievers I can't ever go
20:06crazy and say hey when somebody makes a move this is a good move sometimes you don't know year to
20:09year
20:09it's just it's it's almost like they really are fickle as frustrating as it is to say it's true
20:14yeah it's true and I know I know people don't want to hear that they want certainty but you know
20:19we'll
20:19see I think he's got to be exploring um all the options that he can and everything uh you know
20:25and
20:25as much as I say that I'm kind of leaving out what you said with Tarek Skubal we because of
20:30who his
20:30agent is it's Scott Boris I do not think that he's going to be the first domino to fall
20:36but how serious are the Mets in those talks we are going to know very soon very very soon
20:42I'm sure we'll know as all that stuff will be coming out and listen I think he's the kind of
20:47guy they need maybe he doesn't fit Stearns's age profile because he is 30 and he's going towards
20:54the other side of that but I think if the Mets are truly serious about winning how they pursue
21:00Skubal and other options particularly first base is going to tell me a lot this offseason
21:04they'll say before as we wrap because we got a couple things I just want to say to you because
21:08we do have to look a little bit beyond this next season 2027 for a moment because as we even
21:14both
21:14mentioned earlier Bichette has another 42 million dollar player option for 2028 which means we could
21:21be sitting here at this time next year having the same exact conversation right we will be we will be
21:27right we will be okay now but now the tenor of it might change because let's say Boba Sheck kills
21:34it at the plate we might sit here earlier than a year from now and say man he's he's opting
21:39out
21:40he's opting out I'm like oh no should the Mets give Boba Sheck 300 million what should we do you
21:46know
21:46like that's that's a real conversation that'll be having where I'll probably be in the no category on
21:52but I um I know it'll be good discourse because think about it Bo almost signed for well over 200
21:59million across seven with the fills so if you don't think he's going to be trying to shoot for
22:03again a Trey Turner kind of contract you know I got a bridge to sell you of course that's the
22:08way he's
22:08going to be shooting of course you know so and I think stability in the infield this year you know
22:12especially in at a less strenuous position than short for a second consecutive year could help him in
22:18that regard and you know maybe maximizing in the market that I haven't looked at the class yet for
22:24next year I have to um to see what the third base depth is there but if it's not overly
22:29proficient
22:29then again that's her Bo can kind of stick out like a sore thumb should he have a monster year
22:35and say I
22:35can opt out of 42 mil and it would put some pressure on the Mets right because then they have
22:40to answer
22:40this question which is should we view him as a long-term part of this core to go along with
22:45Juan Soto
22:46as Francisco Lindor ages or you can look at it this way 2027 is essentially a one-year opportunity
22:54and I want to put this just on Bo Bichette for both sides to prove something because the Mets also
23:00have
23:00to prove to Bo Bichette that they are a serious winning organization because if you don't think
23:05that he's looking at it this year especially if he produces let's say he produces at the plate
23:10he's looking around like oh what what are y'all doing to make sure that this is a sustainable
23:16winning situation you know sustainable is a word I like to use and so does so is Steve Cohen used
23:21multiple times so I it has to it is a really interesting season if we have baseball for both
23:27sides to prove something next year and there will be tough decisions for both sides next year
23:35now it's gonna be the ideal situation is Bo Bichette plays solid defensive third hits well
23:44at the plate and the Mets are in the postseason hopefully with a fruitful deep postseason run
23:52that happens you're the Mets you're looking at this and saying we got a decision to make we could have
23:58left the side of our infield locked up for another couple of years Bichette could be here long term
24:03but how much money do you want to commit to Bo Bichette Wardy you're saying you're not going to go
24:07over 300 million and I don't want you to get deep in this because we could we could get to
24:11this next
24:11year but I do think it's something yeah we got some time we have some time we got some time
24:15I do think
24:15it's something for fans to think about yeah and how things could play for both sides and it could be
24:21very interesting okay yeah the worst scenario is again it's worse in like a good way I guess where
24:27yeah let's say Bo has a career year like everything goes right you know even while playing in
24:32far from a band box which he kind of has in Toronto because the ball flies better in that dome
24:37he has let's say north of 30 home runs for the first time in years 100 rbi season right 30
24:43above
24:44league average as a hitter and as a defender he's like in the 40th percentile that's above average
24:48at third base so not league average but not not like a liability either okay if you look at all
24:53that
24:54you're the Mets and say you had a deep playoff run you fell short but you had a deep playoff
24:58run with
24:58him that's where you're gonna that's where we're gonna try to see can we make sure that we don't
25:04make the same mistake that we did after 2024 by completely buying in you know to maybe like
25:10everything that clicked whereas maybe you shouldn't just run it back when there's justified reasons not
25:16to and with Bo long term on that kind of contract I just we'll talk more on it obviously but
25:23I can
25:24definitely see a world why that wouldn't be attractive for David Stearns or the Mets so
25:30yeah it's gonna be fun fun discourse but we're talking this one who knows maybe in a week we're
25:36gonna be having to talk about like Francisco Lindor rumors again because you know those are inevitably
25:40gonna pick up and I don't say that as someone who wants it or wishes I'm clarifying that I'm just
25:44right you know how the offseason is like every single offseason I get calls and texts about things
25:49are just so out like like what you know what I I've told you this before you know what I
25:53call it
25:54Wardy it's lying season this is what I call it it's lying season lying season trade season and offseason
25:59lying it's sauces it's it's sauces everyone has their sauces c-a-u-c-e-s all right last thing
26:06oh s-a-u
26:07I'm not sure s-a-u yeah there you go I knew I knew what you meant I knew what
26:11you meant now that
26:13Bichette is back are you more optimistic about the Mets chance of getting back to the postseason since we
26:17just talked about it or does this decision not really change your outlook at all that much and
26:22you're kind of like I need to see more this offseason before I'm optimistic about a 2027 postseason
26:27yeah I definitely need to see more I mean we can't have the bar being right now or just the
26:31guys that
26:31we kind of want to run it back with you know like the same way how we can't have like
26:35Clay Holmes be
26:36like the only rotation ad if say the Mets wanted to bring him back like I'm not that's not good
26:40enough
26:41in my opinion right you need to do more here but I think for what the Mets need in Bo
26:45entering next season they're in good hands so I'm I'm excited I think that he adds a level of
26:53certainty to their lineup as well as that level of again stability and continuity to this club that
26:59they desperately need you know and I think of also Bo's buy-in with the young players and you know
27:04not only in how Annie Green was able to get the veterans like Bo like Lindor etc to buy in
27:10in hand because of guys like Benj guys like Ewing guys like McClain advocating for him but it's also
27:17seen how a veteran like Bo is buying into what the Mets younger movement is and sees the upside here
27:23you know he had some really good quotes throughout the second half you know with Andy Green especially
27:27in stating how you know he sees the talent here and this is something that he wants to be a
27:31part of
27:32so regardless of the fact that he's a part of the organization above all because of the dollars
27:37let's call it how it is say we want Soto there is definitely a buy-in that I think Mets
27:42fans should
27:42be excited about I think he's hungry I think he's determined I think more than anything Bo just wants
27:47to be the Bo that he was for a hundred the last a hundred games that we just sadly didn't
27:53get a
27:53chance to see like many other Mets in the first two months of the year yeah well listen I'm the
27:59same
27:59way does this change my outlook and optimism for 2027 no no there's a there's a lot more work to
28:06be
28:06done we'll see I think it's positive I will reiterate it we said at the top I think it's
28:10absolute positive that he is back but David Stearns and I think I speak for a lot of other people
28:17in media and Mets fans have to show us a lot more and then the games have to be played
28:23and we have to
28:24see how the players execute so long way to go there are no parades in late October as we approach
28:30Halloween weekend there are no parades given out there are no championship trophies given out well there
28:34was one given out to the Brewers but not to the Mets and so Mets have some work to do
28:38we will see
28:39what they do let us know your thoughts on Bo Bichette being back with the Mets opting into that 42
28:43million dollars and what do you see his long-term future with the Mets Wardy and I got more coming
28:48your way this offseason that's going to do it for my guy Tyler Ward aka Wardy I'm Dexter Henry we'll
28:53catch you next time on another edition of Straight Outta Flushing peace
28:58you
