00:00Let's go to Southern California, where USC hosts Ohio State
00:03in one of the most interesting games of the college football season.
00:07This is two-verse unranked.
00:09Usually, we're not going to give you ranked unranked in our first game.
00:14But there's a little bit more to this here.
00:17Ohio State entered this game without Julian Sayan.
00:20And say what you will about Sayan.
00:23This is someone who went to New York last year as a Heisman Trophy finalist.
00:2819 touchdowns on the year already.
00:31Another two on the ground.
00:33And has proven, at the minimum, an ability to be a part of Ohio State wins
00:39and get Jeremiah Smith to football.
00:43Now, we don't know.
00:45Luke Fay checks into this game.
00:47An unproven freshman who threw the ball twice in the win over Indiana.
00:54Didn't complete either one of them.
00:55And a lot of people are left wondering, can Ohio State be trusted in this spot?
01:04Now, we'll expand on it.
01:06I just want to say, one of the reasons people might think, yes,
01:09is they're playing a USC team that seemingly everyone has given up on.
01:14USC, last week, were a top-20 team going to Wisconsin.
01:17A win would have had this team feeling amazing about their season.
01:22And instead of losses, Lincoln Riley, he screwed firmly, firmly on the hot seat.
01:26I want to stay on the Ohio State side here, though, Dave.
01:29What do you make of Sayan out, Fahey in?
01:35I look at it as Ohio State is one of those teams that they don't, they rebuild.
01:40You know, they reload, not rebuild is the saying.
01:43And, you know, do I know if Fahey is going to be a good quarterback?
01:45No, I don't.
01:46We saw him throw two passes.
01:47But Ohio State has had the quarterback pipeline.
01:50They've had players come through.
01:52And, yes, it's going to be an adjustment period.
01:53But I also know that I got Mr. Smith over there in the corner that I can throw the ball
01:59up to whenever I want.
02:00They've got a good offensive line.
02:01They have a top-10 defense.
02:02I think Ohio State would be fine.
02:04I'm actually surprised, Kevin, that their national title odds didn't move even longer than they were.
02:10Obviously, Notre Dame loses a game and they got shorter.
02:13I thought that people would give up on Ohio State a little bit more than they have.
02:17But I understand it.
02:17This is a factory.
02:18This is a team that year in and year out, even when they're not supposed to win the national title,
02:22they're there.
02:23So I think they will be fine.
02:25I'm not really worried about this spot versus USC because I don't necessarily think USC is that good.
02:30I'm one of those people who look at USC and say they have all the talent in the world.
02:34I don't know if Lincoln Riley is missing something here, if he's not as good as people thought he was.
02:39There's a reason he dropped Oklahoma and ran the USC.
02:43After the other day, I'm not going to name names.
02:44I'm not going to name networks.
02:45I just heard somebody with a USC background say they have a shot at the playoff.
02:50The path is there.
02:51And I sat there and I thought for a second, really?
02:54Like USC, who's beaten nobody, by the way?
02:56The only ranked game that they play, they lost to a backup quarterback with Oregon when Dante Moore went down.
03:02They do play Ohio State number two in the country.
03:04They do play at number four Indiana.
03:06And they do play at number seven UCLA right down the road in L.A.
03:10So is the path there?
03:12They win all three games.
03:14They only got the loss that they had, the two losses they have.
03:17Maybe.
03:18I mean, you win all three games.
03:19You're probably in the Big Ten title game.
03:21That said, I have zero confidence whatsoever that USC wins today at Indiana and at UCLA to do that.
03:29So the word path is a tricky one there because I guess technically, I guess I would ask you, Kevin,
03:35if they win all three games, I guess that's a path.
03:37But I don't think they're going to win any of them, more or less all three of them.
03:40Yeah.
03:41So on the USC path, all that matters is today.
03:47That's all that matters.
03:49If they win today, there's, there's, my opinion, if they win today, they don't have to beat Indiana.
03:57That's my opinion.
03:59We have to, we have to look around at the landscape here.
04:02A three loss team getting in seems inevitable.
04:06I mean, everyone's taking lumps.
04:09Bama has two losses.
04:10Texas has two losses.
04:11LSU has two losses.
04:12Florida has two losses.
04:13I mean, I mean, at the end of the day, what are we going to do?
04:17Like everyone, do you think you put a three loss USC team in there who, yes, maybe they've beaten Ohio
04:24State and beaten UCLA under your scenario, but they lost to Oregon.
04:29They're, they're in over a three loss SCC team.
04:32I mean, it's right there.
04:34The, the Ohio, I mean, it, it, it, it's going to be right there in my opinion, because like if
04:38they beat Ohio State and UCLA, like, and that's, I'm, I'm saying they have to win.
04:45Because if they don't win today, it is impossible to think they will win at Indiana and at UCLA.
04:51I think that that, I think we completely agree on that.
04:53Right.
04:54Right.
04:54So if the resume is nine and three with the win against Ohio State, who I don't think Ohio State
05:01are going to fall off a cliff, by the way.
05:03Like, I think it's very likely that the Buckeyes, if they, I mean, the Buckeyes are going to be favored
05:08around the table.
05:09Right.
05:10They're, they're, they're, I think 14 point favorites next week against Oregon are going to be favorites at home against
05:15Northwestern at Nebraska home against Michigan.
05:18They're going to be favorites in all these football games.
05:20The Ohio State wins not going to age poorly.
