00:01Flirting with Disaster.
00:04Have a day.
00:05Nuke Brady.
00:06I'm going to start calling him Nuke Brady.
00:09I like that.
00:10We can get that sound clip with Nuke Lelouch from Bull Durham.
00:16He's talking with, there's a mound visit.
00:19Right.
00:20Crash Davis is out there and he's like, throw the curveball.
00:23Just throw it.
00:24He's like, no, I want to throw the heat.
00:27He's like, I want to announce my presence with authority.
00:33It's time to make a statement, Tim.
00:35Nuke Brady, here it is, week eight.
00:38Nuke Brady is still trying to announce his presence with authority.
00:41That's for sure.
00:42It's attitude ball.
00:43It's taking the ball first after winning the coin flip.
00:47It's going for it on fourth down a record amount of times in Bill's history.
00:54And darn near a record in NFL history.
00:57They went for it on fourth down six times.
01:02Now, officially five because one of those plays was wiped out by a penalty.
01:06Right.
01:07They would have been five of six on fourth downs.
01:10And you're saying to yourself, hey, man, keep going for it.
01:13And if you're going to keep getting it, yes, keep going for it.
01:17Sounds good to me.
01:17But what would you think, just in general, about teams that go for it on fourth down five times a
01:25game?
01:26They're probably losing.
01:28Yes.
01:29They're losing big.
01:30Right.
01:31Usually.
01:31Need to get back in it.
01:33Fighting.
01:33Need to take risks.
01:35This needs to be put back on track.
01:38We can't figure this out.
01:40Our offense is struggling.
01:41That's what I think.
01:42And maybe our defense is struggling.
01:44We don't want to.
01:45We'd rather just go for it on fourth down here than trust our defense.
01:49Right.
01:49Or there you can also say the other way.
01:51Depending on where you are on the short field.
01:54Teams that go for it on fourth down that often, five times or more in a game since 1991.
02:01That's as far back as the pro football reference stats go.
02:04So, 55 years of data.
02:08Teams that go for it at least five times on fourth down have a record of 2-10 prior to
02:14yesterday.
02:15Now they're 3-10 after the Bills defeat the Chicago Bears 36-10.
02:22Baltimore Ravens.
02:23I think you were going for there.
02:24What did I say?
02:25Chicago Bears.
02:26You're thinking about tonight's game.
02:27Chicago Bears.
02:28I know.
02:29I hear you.
02:29I'm here for you.
02:31I'm here for you.
02:31Baltimore Ravens.
02:33Chicago Bears.
02:35Well, limiting the Bears to 10 points would be a feat.
02:37That would definitely be a feat.
02:39The Baltimore Ravens.
02:43And Joe Fignano.
02:46Sounds like a Chicagoan.
02:48Yes.
02:49Sounds like he is also a character in the movie that Tommy DeVito is a character in.
02:55That's what he sounds like to me.
02:56That's right.
02:57Sounds like he's the dueling quarterback that goes against Tommy DeVito and his big dumb hats.
03:02Joe Fagnano, undrafted rookie quarterback, makes his NFL debut.
03:06And furthermore, he didn't even have to prepare for it or get to prepare for it because he's the scout
03:12team quarterback in Baltimore.
03:13He spends his week in Maryland running the other team's offense.
03:19He has last worked with the Baltimore Ravens offensive players in preseason.
03:27Okay.
03:28So, again, there's going to be a lot of caveats in this.
03:32A great Bills win.
03:33It's what they were supposed to do.
03:3636-10.
03:37The defense did a lot of fun stuff.
03:40Did stuff that I think everybody in the Bills fandom was like, okay, this is what I was expecting all
03:47summer.
03:47When we talk about Jim Leonard as the defensive coordinator, there's stunts and there's blitzes and there's exotic packages.
03:56And we got-
03:57Strip sacks.
03:57All of that.
03:58Interceptions.
03:59Yeah.
03:59Big hits.
04:00Big plays.
04:01Just big plays all over the place.
04:03Gino Stone making big hits.
04:05One-on-one tackles in the open field.
04:07Deion Walker making big hits.
04:09Mm-hmm.
04:10Landon Jackson, one of four guys getting a sack.
04:16But a lot of the takeaways for me in this game are what I see as a bit of a
04:22recklessness from the head coach.
04:25And it comes down to, all right, you can say we want the ball first.
04:28All right.
04:29They win the coin toss to start the game and take the ball.
04:32Attitude.
04:33Mm-hmm.
04:33Well, you take a look at the numbers and you can quibble.
04:37I think there are a lot of folks out there that want the double dip.
04:40The double dip became trendy.
04:43They're going to defer.
04:44We're going to receive the ball to start the second half.
04:46And if we can manage the game through our time management and our coaches that we have up in the
04:53booth,
04:53talking us through the headset, all the different scenarios, we can bleed out or maximize our end of the first
04:59half possession, score, get the ball, score again.
05:03Well, I did a lot of research this morning about the math, and the math has changed, especially with the
05:10new dynamic kickoff.
05:12Right.
05:12It says a little bit more that it's okay to take the ball first.
05:19But Sharp Football, which is one of the great analytics sites, did some data over a three-and-a-half
05:25-year stretch that showed 12% of teams that defer or get the ball second.
05:31You could lose the toss and the other team could take the ball first, I suppose.
05:34Sure.
05:35But whoever gets the ball second, 12% of the time they double dipped.
05:38It's pretty good.
05:38And that teams receiving in the second half had a plus 1.6-point expectation on getting the ball first
05:48in the second half.
05:49When you get the ball first in the first half, it was 0.6 points.
05:52So that's a one-point differential.
05:55And in a game like this, that's significant.
05:57Yeah, absolutely it is.
05:58In this sport.
06:01But now the dynamic kickoff, starting at the 35 usually, maybe later, it's a little bit different.
06:07And so perhaps Joe Brady's ahead of the curve.
06:10Other coaches aren't necessarily doing it, but the Bills have not had the ball first yet all season.
06:17But interesting.
06:18It's aggression.
06:19It's attitude.
06:21It's put the ball down.
06:22That's the slogan.
06:23The non-McDermott.
06:24My guys.
06:26Yes.
06:26Running with my guys.
06:28But here's where, okay, so that is to me interesting.
06:33All right.
06:34It's a thing to watch.
06:35Maybe it, I jot that down at the beginning of the game.
06:38Maybe that comes into play as I'm writing my story.
06:42Maybe.
06:44But then we have guys getting hurt coming out of the game.
06:54In the fourth, late in the third quarter, early in the fourth quarter.
06:58The Bills are up by 19 points with nine and a half minutes to go in the game.
07:04And this is just one example.
07:05And there's other examples we can go through.
07:08James Cook has to leave the game because of concussion protocol.
07:13Now, sometimes those are, well, I didn't even notice him get hit.
07:16The concussion spotter noticed it.
07:18Or he said something when he got to the sideline that raised a concern.
07:22This was a guy who got dumped on his head.
07:25Hard.
07:26Appeared to be immobile.
07:29Yeah.
07:29I mean, read into that what you will.
07:30I'm not a doctor.
07:31I'm not going to say he was unconscious.
07:34But he laid there still for a long time as his teammates screamed for medical staff to come out on
07:41the field.
07:41Immediately get out here right now.
07:43The way Alec Anderson was waving to the sideline made me think that Cook's leg had broken in half.
07:50It looked like they were that concerned about it.
07:52Yes.
07:53And I went like, oh, well, now what are we going to talk about?
07:56The first thing that popped into my head was Jonathan Taylor.
08:00That's what popped into my head because that's how scared Anderson looked when he was waving for people to come
08:06onto the field.
08:06And then we see the replay and he gets dumped on his head.
08:09It's a weird twist.
08:11It looked bad.
08:12But McGovern kind of fell into his crotch and like folded him up and his leg is by his ear.
08:18Now, James Cook comes off the field under his own power.
08:21He's in a blue medical tent for a long time.
08:23He gets cleared.
08:26And then guess what?
08:27Very next play, he's on the field and gets the ball.
08:31Okay, he's been cleared.
08:32I get it.
08:33Again, we can quibble over that.
08:34You're up 19 points.
08:37You've been trying to force the ball to Ty Johnson all afternoon to no great effect.
08:44But if it's been okay for the first three and a half quarters to make sure Ty Johnson gets carries,
08:51let's let Ty Johnson and Ray Davis get the rest of the carries.
08:54You're up 19 points.
08:56Seems comfy.
08:57With nine and a half minutes to go against an emergency quarterback making his NFL debut wasn't even good enough
09:02to get drafted.
09:05You have DJ Moore getting spatulate off the field practically twice.
09:11He's over on the sideline getting attention two different times during the game.
09:15Looks like a neck.
09:17He's rolling his neck.
09:18He's having – trainers are looking at his neck.
09:20And they're throwing bang-bang plays to him.
09:23Yep.
09:24Like on fourth down.
09:25Where he's going to clearly get blasted.
09:28Like, I don't want to say hospital balls, but close.
09:32Like, passes, you know this guy's going to take a lick.
09:36And great, you've got the tough receiver that always plays.
09:39Except he hasn't been playing.
09:40Right.
09:41And has already left the field twice in this game.
09:44Joshua Palmer's gone with a hamstring injury.
09:47We don't know for how long, but if you were thinking about involving him in a trade deadline deal,
09:53that's a little more tricky now.
09:55Absolutely.
09:56So Joshua Palmer's sidelined, and so you're still sending DJ Moore out there while up 19.
10:03And Ray Davis had to take a knee at the end of the third quarter.
10:06Now he comes back in the game.
10:08Alec Anderson looks like he has emerged from the jungle in the movie Platoon
10:14trying to get the last helicopter out of NAMM.
10:17You know, he has been – he's fighting it throughout the entire game.
10:21He ends up walking home last night in a boot.
10:24He had a boot when he left the locker room last night.
10:26But during the game, that looked like a tough one.
10:29He was in the blue medical tent for a long while.
10:32Comes back in the game.
10:33Needed to be relieved by Austin Corbett.
10:35Thankfully, the Bills have a high-quality backup there for Alec Anderson,
10:39a former NFL starter and captain with the Carolina Panthers.
10:44But to me, this is where it comes down to flirting with disaster.
10:49Go for it on fourth down because you want to show you got moxie.
10:53Take the ball first because you want to shove it down their throats.
10:58But keep throwing your guys out there and try – was the goal to score 30 last night
11:04or was it to win the game and get ready for Minnesota?
11:08Because they had this game essentially won.
11:10Now, you can – and Joe Brady had a quote.
11:13He was asked by Joe Biscailli, the athletic, about having his starters out there so late.
11:17Not just – I mean, starters are one thing.
11:19You got to finish a game these guys want to play,
11:21especially in a game where you're having so much fun.
11:23Hey, Coach, don't take me out of this game.
11:25Right.
11:26We're killing these guys.
11:27But James Cook, you're done for the day.
11:30That's the job.
11:31Yeah, you don't emerge from the blue tent after a scary hit and go –
11:34we don't need to get you a four-yard carry.
11:37DJ Moore.
11:38Okay.
11:39Hey, Greg Dortch, make sure you're ready for this next series.
11:42You're going to get some targets.
11:43You're going to play.
11:44Yeah, let's get Dortch some targets here.
11:46Let's work that in.
11:51Corbett, finish the game.
11:52It's fine.
11:53We need Anderson next week.
11:55All that stuff.
11:56So, anyways, it was just a maddening game to watch
12:00from a game management standpoint.
12:02There were some interesting things with the clock.
12:04So, here, the Bills are 6-1.
12:06Amazing.
12:07Atop the AFC.
12:09No. 1 seed through seven games.
12:13Yeah, seven weeks.
12:14Heading into Week 9.
12:15They are the best team in the AFC by terms of record,
12:20but they really seem to be tempting fate
12:22by putting some of their best players in harm's way,
12:25with some of the decisions, the aggressiveness.
12:31The aggressiveness sometimes seems to be the mission,
12:33almost more so than winning the game.
12:37That's where I run into trouble, Tim,
12:40is that when I came in, there was a week,
12:43I forget what game it was, but they took the ball first,
12:47and it ended up coming back,
12:49and I think their opposition double-dipped on them,
12:51and it made the game uncomfortable in a way
12:54that it didn't need to be.
12:56And I came in, and I said,
12:57do the thing that helps you win the game,
12:59not the one that makes you feel cool.
13:01And I often, I have found myself thinking that yesterday a lot.
13:05And this is, again, like, we're going to have to,
13:07like, we're qualifying a lot.
13:08They're 6-1.
13:09They won by 20-something points yesterday.
13:12They kicked the crap out of the Ravens.
13:14It was amazing, and they deserve props for that.
13:16But this team, what we do in here,
13:20what we're thinking about,
13:21and what they're trying to do
13:23is not about beating the Ravens yesterday.
13:25It's about winning in January
13:26and winning in the playoffs.
13:28And that's why this conversation is valuable right now.
13:31Because if that is a scenario
13:33where you're not facing a third-string,
13:36undrafted free agent rookie quarterback,
13:38do any of those mistakes come back to haunt you?
13:41And I think that's what needs to be discussed today
13:44as much as we give credit to them
13:46for winning a game the way they did.
13:48Great, you did.
13:49I'm proud of you.
13:50Thank you for winning.
13:51You're now atop the AFC.
13:54What did you do in that game to get you there,
13:56and what is that, how does that translate?
13:58It's the same topic we've been discussing
14:00whether they can win like this
14:01with the defense struggling.
14:03This, to me, is the same point.
14:04Can they win like this
14:05and overcome what feel like dumb mistakes
14:09that could hurt a team
14:11if the margins are tighter than they've been?
14:13And if you can keep the margins
14:15from getting that tight ever
14:17just because you're that good on offense,
14:19then great, all the power do you.
14:20But I don't know that that's sustainable
14:22or that's realistic.
14:23And I think that because of that,
14:26we've got to sit here,
14:27and on a day where they won by that much
14:29and looked that great in many ways,
14:31I am still finding myself drawn to that conversation
14:35and not to how amazing Josh Allen is
14:38or how great it was to have both Dalton Kincaid
14:40and DJ Moore making plays for the offense again
14:43or the development of the defense,
14:45however much credit you want to give them.
14:47We are still, we're finding ourselves
14:50treading down a different path.
14:52And I think that that's avoidable, I think,
14:54with better decision-making yesterday.
14:56I think we could come in here
14:57and have a very easy nobody.
14:59There's going to be half the people
15:01out there listening to us right now
15:02are like, why do they sound like this?
15:03They won.
15:04They're 6-1.
15:05They're great.
15:07And listen, they are great.
15:09I'm with you.
15:10They looked awesome,
15:11and there was a lot of stuff to love about yesterday.
15:13The defense, which we'll get into,
15:15was impressive.
15:17How much you want to put into that
15:19is a conversation we'll get to,
15:21but it was.
15:22And the offense, once again,
15:24looked sloppy and scored 36 points.
15:26It's awesome.
15:28But, again, this is not about
15:30beating a third-string quarterback in November.
15:32It's about beating Patrick Mahomes
15:34or Joe Burrow in January.
15:36And some of the stuff that happened yesterday,
15:38I think, could stop you from doing that.
15:41And that is worthy of conversation.
15:4436-10.
15:45I may have said 34 earlier
15:46and shorted them a couple of points.
15:48Let's just say they covered.
15:50And it was not difficult.
15:53There was really no nervousness at all.
15:56The Ravens scored their only touchdown of the game
15:59late in the first quarter.
16:01Derrick Henry gets a run.
16:03But by this time,
16:04Lamar Jackson's already knocked out of the game.
16:06We saw last week against the Cincinnati Bengals
16:09how different of a team is.
16:11It's not as though Tyler Huntley being in the game
16:14is like, all right,
16:15we just got to shift our focus a little bit here now
16:18because this, no,
16:19it's a huge drop-off from Lamar Jackson
16:21to Tyler Huntley.
16:23And they had just gotten curb-stomped
16:25against Cincinnati with this same lineup.
16:28And then Huntley's out.
16:29And so the game was never in question.
16:33And to your point about Moore and Kincaid,
16:37yeah, that was great to see
16:38and to have Moore back.
16:40Everybody's excited.
16:41But then we're quickly reminded
16:43and reminded multiple times,
16:45man, this might not last.
16:47You're like, well,
16:48I guess we better enjoy it today
16:49because these guys keep taking shots.
16:51And D.J. Moore looks like, you know,
16:54he's coming up gimpy a lot,
16:56it seems like to me.
16:56Yeah, he's going to have to go to urgent care
16:57after every game.
16:59I mean, he is,
17:00he looks like he's hanging on sometimes.
17:02And this is a guy who's known for his durability.
17:04But yeah, we're going to throw bang-bang plays
17:06to where he just gets, you know, body bagged.
17:10Yeah, being known for your durability
17:12should not make the team that you play for
17:14feel like, well,
17:14we can use him as a crash test dummy.
17:17Like, don't,
17:18I'd still rather not see the guy
17:19get blasted five times a game.
17:22But, you know,
17:22you can't control too much of that.
17:24But I thought there were a few plays
17:26that were like,
17:27yeah, whatever,
17:28just, he'll eat it.
17:29And I don't know,
17:30is that smart for your guy
17:31that you paid that big,
17:32you know, a big, big
17:34second-round pick for
17:35in the offseason?
17:36Well, that's big.
17:37And you're paying a lot of money, too.
17:38That's big.
17:39He's got a big contract.
17:41The Bills also do a lot of great things
17:43on defense.
17:43I'm loathe to, you know,
17:45ever make this comparison,
17:48but I can't come up with a better one.
17:50You know,
17:50back when I played high school football,
17:54but I was talking to some Bills players
17:57last night regarding the idea
18:00that it's Joe Fignano,
18:02who they had no idea who this guy was.
18:04How can you prepare for somebody
18:05you've never even heard of?
18:06I don't know if they were, like,
18:08Googling his college stats.
18:10Does this guy run at all?
18:12What happens here?
18:13That's what I was doing.
18:14Like, do we flush the pocket?
18:16Do we keep him in the pocket?
18:17What do we do?
18:19They had no reason
18:21to get ready for this guy.
18:23He's the emergency quarterback.
18:25And Lamar Jackson's coming back
18:26and supposed to be healthy.
18:28You don't waste your time
18:29on game planning for Joe Fignano.
18:34But there was the most entertaining game
18:37I played in my life
18:39was a junior varsity game.
18:41I had gotten injured
18:42and I couldn't play the night before
18:44on Friday night.
18:46And so my coach said,
18:47do you want to play tomorrow morning?
18:48Because in Ohio, that's what it was.
18:49It was Friday night, Saturday morning.
18:51I'm like, yeah, I want to play.
18:52Absolutely.
18:53And I'd been a two-way starter
18:55for a while
18:56and I'm out there
18:57and, you know, they didn't.
18:58And I think these kids,
18:59it was like,
19:00it was different.
19:01Right.
19:01It was different.
19:02Yes.
19:02And it was too,
19:03hey, do you want to play quarterback?
19:04I'm like, yeah,
19:04I'll play some quarterback.
19:05You know, it was just
19:06like all that stuff.
19:07Hey, you want a bucket of money?
19:09Yeah, it sounds great.
19:11I'm going to go play quarterback
19:12with some JV kids.
19:14We were just screwing off out there.
19:15You know, let's run in.
19:16You know, I could even hear the coach
19:18and be like, hey, watch this.
19:19I guess as we're breaking the huddle
19:21and it was just like so much fun.
19:24But it's,
19:28that wasn't going to get me into college.
19:30You know, that wasn't going to,
19:31the recruiters didn't care about that.
19:33And you know what?
19:34It's not the type of thing
19:35that on Monday
19:36I was bragging to my buddies about either.
19:39It was like, hey man,
19:40how many yards did you have
19:41against Streetsboro on,
19:44you know, on Saturday morning?
19:47They probably were like,
19:48we played Streetsboro on Saturday morning?
19:50You played?
19:51Yeah, why we?
19:54So, but that's the fun.
19:55I mean, you don't want to diminish that.
19:58And it is an NFL quarterback.
19:59And, you know,
20:00it's the great quote from Bradley Chubb
20:02last night at his locker.
20:03He said,
20:04the good Lord blessed him
20:05with this opportunity.
20:05And this was his time.
20:07And it was kind of,
20:08he was trying to throw a bouquet,
20:10but it also kind of sounded like
20:11something Mike Tyson would have said
20:13to Peter McNeil.
20:15You know,
20:15it's like the good Lord blessed him
20:17with this opportunity.
20:17And I'm going to make sure
20:18his dream comes true.
20:20Yeah.
20:20You know,
20:21God gave me the opportunity
20:22to annihilate this guy's hopes and dreams.
20:24And so I took it.
20:26So I guess the question,
20:28I don't know how we want to frame this question.
20:29I propose maybe like,
20:31where is you,
20:31where is your confidence in the bills?
20:35Or maybe do we want to say in Joe Brady
20:37based on his decision-making so far?
20:40803,
20:400550.
20:42Do we want to do a meter of your confidence meter
20:44from one to 10?
20:45I mean,
20:45where are you?
20:46You're six in one bills fans,
20:49six and one atop the AFC.
20:52After the Chiefs lose,
20:54the Patriots struggle with the Miami Dolphins.
20:59We're going to have,
21:00by the way,
21:01later on in the show,
21:03we're going to have Henry McKenna
21:04from FoxSports.com on,
21:05and we're going to talk about the bills
21:07and where they stand in this AFC dynamic,
21:10not just where we are here in Western New York
21:13and looking at these bills
21:17from here outward toward the rest of the AFC.
21:20Henry covers the entire NFL for FoxSports.com,
21:24and he's based in New England,
21:26so he's very familiar with that team.
21:29He can speak to where they are
21:30and their journey.
21:34But it's fascinating
21:36because so many things are going great,
21:39and yet there's so much hesitation as to
21:43the peace of mind.
21:44I guess let's use that phrase.
21:46The peace of mind,
21:48I don't have much
21:49when it comes to the bills.
21:51I do think they probably deserve to be
21:54atop the AFC
21:55in terms of the power rankings,
21:58you know,
21:58the metaphysical power rankings.
22:00The Vikings also lose yesterday,
22:02so there was some talk as to whether
22:04the Vikings deserve to be ahead
22:06of the Chiefs and the bills
22:07and the power rankings.
22:08Because they were 6-0.
22:09They take a hit.
22:12But here we are.
22:13Here we are.
22:14I think it's a hard...
22:16I am wrestling with this every week,
22:19that question you just asked.
22:20Like, what's your state with them?
22:23Because every week they impress me
22:25in many ways,
22:26and every week there's also
22:29a building case of concerns
22:31that isn't going away
22:33or being disproved week to week.
22:35And every week there's something
22:37that gets piled on there
22:38in a win
22:40most of these weeks,
22:41to be clear.
22:42Like, they are playing great football
22:44in the majority of these games
22:46for most of these games.
22:48But those moments
22:49where they're not,
22:50and this,
22:51I will totally own,
22:53it could be the Buffalo sports
22:55experience in me.
22:56Just,
22:57this is the moment that'll hurt you.
22:59This is the moment that'll hurt you.
23:0013 seconds,
23:01foot in the creek.
23:01Like, there's,
23:02I'm always looking for the thing
23:04that's going to get me.
23:05And it feels like I am finding
23:07a lot of things
23:08that could get me
23:08with this team.
23:10There's a lot of stuff.
23:11The end of the first half
23:13with the running the clock down.
23:15You don't even have to think that far.
23:17You don't have to go deep.
23:18This isn't something
23:19that you stare at your ceiling
23:20and have these thoughts
23:22go in your head.
23:22They flashed in front of your eyes
23:24on the screen yesterday.
23:25Right.
23:26When James Cook is laying there
23:28and guys are screaming.
23:29This happened,
23:29I don't want to betray
23:31confidence.
23:32There's a lot of things
23:32that are said in the press box
23:34that are kind of understood
23:35that we're all workshopping.
23:37Sometimes somebody
23:37might say something,
23:38if it gets a laugh,
23:39they might think,
23:40oh, I'll use that in my story.
23:41Put that in the bag.
23:42If somebody says,
23:42well, that's stupid.
23:43Or corrects you,
23:44and you're like,
23:44oh, I guess that won't go in my way.
23:46But when he's laying down
23:48there on the field
23:49and he hasn't been pulled up yet,
23:50but based on everybody
23:52rushing onto the field
23:53and the scene,
23:55in the press box,
23:57a prominent reporter said,
23:58well, there goes the season.
23:59And I thought to myself,
24:01well, that's a little hyperbolic.
24:02But then within the span
24:03of five seconds,
24:04I thought to myself,
24:05well, there's a huge drop off
24:06to Ty Johnson and Ray Davis.
24:08No matter how many times
24:09Joe Brady was trying
24:10to make Ty Johnson
24:12a thing yesterday,
24:13and I still don't understand
24:14if he was being,
24:16if he was being force-fed
24:17the ball early in the game,
24:19why he can't just finish
24:20the game when a guy's been,
24:22you know, hurt.
24:23Yeah.
24:24Dinged up.
24:25Yeah.
24:25Badly.
24:25That type of thing
24:26that we want to take
24:27a closer look at.
24:28You hear it all the time.
24:31Player gets cleared,
24:32comes back into the game,
24:33or even doesn't come back
24:34into the game,
24:35and the MRI the next day
24:36shows blank.
24:38And well,
24:39then that's,
24:40so get him out of the game.
24:42Be safe.
24:43Get him off the sideline.
24:44Yeah.
24:45For crying out loud.
24:45Send him back to the locker room
24:47so he doesn't get bumped
24:48by a play out of,
24:48I don't know,
24:49but yeah,
24:50those are the things
24:51that flash.
24:51When you see James Cook
24:53on the field
24:54or D.J. Moore
24:54laying down on the field
24:56or, you know,
24:58Alec Anderson
24:59needing help
25:00to get off the field
25:01and then they go back in,
25:04it's,
25:04it's,
25:04that's where you gotta think
25:05what is happening
25:06with the management
25:08of these bodies.
25:09And that,
25:10and it's,
25:10it feels,
25:11and quickly,
25:12because I know
25:12we gotta get to a break,
25:13but it feels so antithetical
25:14to what they've done
25:15everywhere else
25:17in the injury department.
25:18Holding D.J. Moore out,
25:21precautionary
25:21with that Oliver,
25:23like there's been a lot
25:24of sort of tiptoeing
25:25around injuries
25:27during the week
25:28with this team
25:28it feels like.
25:29And then you get in the game
25:30and it,
25:31like,
25:32you couldn't,
25:32you couldn't go further away
25:34from that philosophy
25:35in that game yesterday.
25:36And that confuses me.
25:38Like,
25:38is there some sort of,
25:40is one person
25:41making the decision
25:42during the week
25:42and another during the game?
25:44Is there some sort of process?
25:46Is it emotion?
25:47Is it,
25:48well,
25:48I've got the guy,
25:49he's right here,
25:49I'm gonna do it.
25:51And I wanna score 30.
25:52Right.
25:52We keep scoring,
25:53I like scoring 30.
25:54Versus during the week
25:55you're like,
25:55I gotta be smart
25:56and think about the season
25:57and like,
25:57D.J. Moore,
25:58we gotta buy next week.
25:59Don't rush it.
26:00You know,
26:00we're gonna,
26:01it feels so,
26:03so distant.
26:04The two approaches
26:05to the way
26:06they've handled
26:07the injuries so far.
26:08I found that
26:08really confusing.
26:10Where Brandon Bean
26:12deserves some credit
26:12as,
26:13and well,
26:14there's a whole nother story.
26:15We'll get to it
26:16after the break actually.
26:17Uh,
26:18because,
26:19uh,
26:19we do need to take a break.
26:20But,
26:20what I wanna get into also
26:22is this defensive performance
26:24and as fun
26:26as it was
26:27and violent
26:28and spectacular,
26:31how does it affect
26:33Brandon Bean's approach
26:34to the trade deadline?
26:35We've been talking for weeks
26:36about,
26:37well,
26:37the Bills could use
26:38another linebacker,
26:39they could use
26:39another defensive backer too,
26:41they could,
26:42you know,
26:43even up at whatever
26:43you can find
26:44that can help
26:45these guys out
26:46to take a unit
26:48that has given up
26:49so many points
26:51and mold them
26:52into the Super Bowl
26:55ethos.
26:56Uh,
26:57this does,
26:57it's a,
26:58they're a Super Bowl
26:58contender for sure,
26:59but that is not
27:00a Super Bowl contending
27:01defense so far.
27:03Then they give up
27:0410 points
27:04to the Baltimore Ravens
27:05yesterday.
27:06However,
27:08uh,
27:09Joe Fignano
27:09is the quarterback
27:10and,
27:11but they did
27:12so many good things.
27:13Zay Flowers
27:13didn't catch a pass.
27:14Derrick Henry
27:14was nothing.
27:15Derrick Henry
27:16was bottled up.
27:17Um,
27:19sacks,
27:20fumbles,
27:21interceptions,
27:22aggression,
27:24um,
27:24on the spot,
27:25bang,
27:26bang tackles,
27:27uh,
27:27not big cushions
27:28and the depth guys
27:29came up and did well
27:31to Corey Couch
27:32played well.
27:33Gino Stone
27:33played well.
27:34I thought Stone
27:35was great.
27:35Um,
27:37he doesn't have
27:37a great track record,
27:38but for that game
27:39he looked good
27:40and is this fool's gold
27:41or is this the sign
27:43of something
27:44that's really
27:44about to turn?
27:46We'll talk about that
