Jeremy White and Joe DiBiase continue breaking down the Bills 36-10 win over the Ravens on a Victory Monday by discussing whether the Bills are a little too sloppy early in Joe Brady’s tenure as head coach. They look back on some of the weird time management decisions across this season, including one at the end of the first half yesterday. They also touch on penalty issues and some strange playcalling decisions.

00:00you know one thing that people will generally put on a coach is attention to detail is that fair
00:07just as a general football point you'll put two point fumbles on a coach how come there's not
00:15more attention to detail about ball security drops focus right things like that penalties
00:22if you're the most penalized team in the league people will say that's about your coach whether
00:28whether or not it is that's what happens i watched the syracuse football game this weekend they won
00:33and i learned that they're the most penalized team in the country which i'm sure they constantly bring
00:38up with the head coach like you take a lot of penalties what's the deal there how come you
00:41haven't got more discipline for your team so during the game and during that first half i saw quite a
00:46bit of what's joe brady's deal kind of reaction they're six and one their offense scores points
00:53but they are somewhat can we say they are consistently sloppy it's seven games in they
01:01are six and one but are they a are they a sloppy team or are they a sharp team
01:06on the sloppy sharp scale now the counter hell but got traded we don't have a hellometer
01:10sloppy sharp meter right let's repurpose that like where are the bills where would you rank them on a
01:14i mean that's probably probably tough to do to rank i know but league wide but do you do they
01:18come
01:18across to you like a sharp team like they're buttoned up or they kind of get through some bad
01:23habits i think they're probably closer to sloppy than they are to sharp i mean you could look at
01:29you could look at a couple of different things you could look at how the defense has been pretty
01:33much struggling to communicate all season right yeah that would fall under this umbrella you could
01:37fall the penalties under this the turnovers i don't know where they rank in the league in terms of
01:41turnovers but it doesn't feel like it's that going that well i also would say that i would want to
01:48consider clock management in the ends of halves and games under this as well are you sloppy or are
01:54you sharp and almost every game we are seeing evidence that like this is not maybe the way you
02:00want to do this or you're giving yourself unnecessary risk by in the ram game it's kicking the field
02:06goal with exactly two minutes left in overtime rather than winding it down and not giving the rams
02:11a chance to play or here where it's i'm running a play with 20 seconds left and giving my field
02:17goal team 12 13 14 seconds to sprint onto the field and kick a field goal because i chose to
02:23give them that little time because i'm afraid of fun yano going 80 yards down the field in 30 seconds
02:28like that's not that sharp to me and there might even be another one clock management wise that
02:33happened earlier in the season there's been a couple there's been a couple i feel like they're
02:37closer to sloppy but they're so good and their quarterback is so good that it doesn't show up
02:43but that in terms of like what we learned from yesterday like the end of the first half and
02:49thinking about the end of the overtime for the rams like i'm thinking about that because playoff games
02:54you're probably going to be tested in those situations ends of halves ends of games and where
03:01are the bills and where is their head coach in that department right before the season it was about
03:07how they tested him and you know like all these different things that they were looking at for
03:12clock management and game management and he passed with flying colors and now i'm seeing it in the
03:16season and like no this all seems a little bit off to his credit he did admit after the ram
03:22game i
03:23would do that differently like so i would hope that as he goes through these trials that like okay this
03:29time against the ravens you have no timeouts you ran it down to 20 that you would look at that
03:34and
03:34say and next time we get that we probably should leave a little bit more time on the clock so
03:39that
03:39we're not sprinting out of the field with 12 13 14 seconds left another way to make yourself feel
03:43better is like watch the cowboys every week they'll just feel better able to get that they just give
03:48away games every week is incredible alex into pew alex good morning
03:54hey gentlemen hey alex morning happy victory happy victory monday yeah i just had a couple
04:02questions for you here uh you know like i don't you guys touch on it with sale here uh just
04:07the
04:07offense looks so stagnant at times and it's crazy but then you look up and boom 35 plus points again
04:14like the fourth downs specifically i love the aggressiveness here but i feel like he got
04:22he gets too cute at times with it like why would we shy away from from the tush push and
04:29then also
04:29with jeremy i know you talk about like the wide receivers speed kills i agree we need one but
04:34josh struggles with the deep balls in general like do you think that this is a thing that like
04:40to take the top off the defense and just get like more more wide open or what is the
04:47thought process behind getting the actual speedster on the team thanks alex listen a couple things on
04:55that dj more catch who didn't think man if you had dj more one year earlier you'd be in the
05:00super
05:01bowl yep right he makes the same catch that brandon cooks couldn't make so and i thought about on that
05:09play saying it in a different way which is the bills have for a long time acted like josh allen
05:18is
05:18going to make it happen and on that play they had somebody make it happen for josh as you're pointing
05:25out maybe he's not been the best deep thrall deep ball thrower of late okay he overthrew keon coleman
05:31yeah that's right he missed there and he's also hit palmer on a couple of deep shots like whatever
05:35he might not be the best deep ball thrower in the league but he has shown that he wants receivers
05:42that he can trust to throw one to he did that to palmer in the opener against the texans when
05:47lasseter dropped the pick i mean going all the way back to whatever he he's he's had success throwing
05:53to gabe some success throwing digs deep sometimes and with more he trusts him and that more catch that
05:59he makes is going to get more more deep balls down the field it'll happen in playoff games it'll be
06:05i have a guy that can cover up my mistake whether it's throwing into coverage missing a little bit
06:13who's going to pull that ball down for me out of the air dj more will so i that i
06:19mean it was an
06:19important play and on the offense stagnating at times i am buying what everybody says which is
06:25that the tush push went away primarily because the ravens had players trying to hurt the quarterback
06:30so let's not put him in that position for the rest of this day i think that's what i'm now
06:36believing now that said if you're another team would you risk a fourth and goal i want you to
06:43take a personal foul here because if you do them we can maybe scare them out of running tush pushes
06:46the rest of the day maybe maybe not what's the penalty if roquan smith is called for a personal foul
06:52a yard not even half a quarter of a yard you get freebies at the one yard line it would
06:59depend what
06:59down it is fair right right if it's third and in fact there it's not smart because it's fourth and
07:08goal at the one right you don't take it it's dumb to take a 15 yard penalty there but also
07:13this this
07:14happened in the shuck example i mentioned earlier in the season where smith is trying to rip the head
07:18off tyler shuck it doesn't get called there it didn't get called for a penalty in this bills
07:23example it's probably really hard for the ref to see that yeah because it's happening in a mosh pit
07:28and there's so many bodies around that i would bet smith thinks he's getting he's gonna get away with
07:33it nine times out of ten because they're not going to see it happen so i think that is something
07:39to
07:39watch but that's probably more about that individual than anything and by the way on allen is a deep ball
07:44passer he is doing it more than anybody in football well actually not true third drake may jordan love
07:50they're first and second for how often they're doing it epa per drop back on deep passes allen's
07:5613th so he's not the worst in football no he's not the best but he's doing it the third most
08:00and
08:01he's slightly above average and how effective he's been right 8030550 the phone number we'll get another
08:06break in conor mcgovern joins us top of the hour here on a buffalo football monday
08:10a victory monday get you some scores around the league when we get back and conor mcgovern top
