00:00are a lot of wide receivers out there whose names are being mentioned before the trade
00:04that long the Colts won a third round draft pick back from Josh Downs Brian Thomas it
00:09seems like the Jaguars are warming to the idea of trading a player they've never wanted
00:13to trade before the Browns are open to trading Jerry Judy though it doesn't sound promising
00:17right now that was Adam Schefter this weekend courtesy of ESPN talking about the the Browns
00:22approach that was before the Steelers game and I I don't know how actually incendiary
00:29this approach the beginning of the conversation is I don't think the Steelers game really changed
00:33the Browns approach at the deadline at all and I don't think the Saints will either uh well I mean
00:39it's interesting like if you end up being let's say you're a five and four team but let's say the
00:43Saints if they run you out of the building the same way the Steelers did and all of a sudden
00:47it looks
00:47like you're more fraudulent than you are anything we might turn around uh by the end of December and
00:52look at those games as a blessing in disguise not to go ahead and spend any sort of actual capital
00:56on any of these players now the difference in this Nick is that when we've been talking about
00:59trading for pieces we haven't been talking about first and second round pieces we've been talking
01:03about like fifth round tight end trades yeah and it's it's interesting because I think people keep
01:08going at you know I don't expect the Browns to be aggressive but when they say aggressive they mean
01:13a first second or third round pick I do expect them to be aggressive because they have a lot of
01:18picks
01:19and that you might be more comfortable giving a fourth or fifth rounder than normal for like the back
01:24the blocking tight end from the uh the Titans or if there is an offensive lineman out there that
01:31you think is a great value I know they didn't do this with Quentin Nelson but if there is a
01:34or or
01:35an edge rusher or interior defender that can help shore up the the defensive line like I I expect the
01:41Browns to make a deal or two and I still wouldn't be trading Jerry Judy I I just I continue
01:48to come back
01:48to I don't think he had listen if he didn't have value when you traded for him three years ago
01:53where it
01:53was just a pick swap and a salary dump for Denver I don't know what's changed with his value coming
01:59off of last year and certainly the beginning of this year probably the best you're getting for Jerry
02:03Judy at this point is a six or a seventh rounder six seven sorry we I thought we broke it
02:09up enough
02:09nope maybe not uh I was also debating does it work to go seventh rounder or six rounder if I
02:15if I inverse
02:15it does that help six that might be or I just go minute ball that might be the new deal
02:20yeah uh
02:22but I I think the the idea that uh I would be crushed let's say if they traded Jerry Judy
02:27uh there
02:28would be no crocodile tears for me and it just it's one of those things like I yeah he matters
02:32uh to a
02:33degree but I if they look at the season as if the the season is basically and it'd be dumb
02:38of them
02:38to look at it as if it's gone they're not looking at it as if the season's gone Nick yeah
02:41and so like
02:42I just don't know what you'd be getting out of them outside of a six round pick just a six
02:48you're
02:48clear you're clear uh now this being said uh Ben Solak uh proposed that the Browns are one of three
02:55teams that should make a call to the Chargers before the deadline about Justin Herbert and Albert
03:01who's going to be on with us potentially at 540 uh Albert was like you know Jeffrey Simmons wasn't
03:07available for a trade until Ryan Poles called down there and started with I'll give you uh you know
03:12two first rounders yeah and said you know he doesn't think that Justin Herbert will be traded
03:18but if you approach it a certain way maybe you can change their minds and I think that's really
03:23really interesting because I see the potential downside in in Justin Herbert in that he hasn't
03:28really made an impact in the the playoffs and he is what about halfway through his career if you're
03:34lucky and uh he's had a lot of different offensive coordinators with varying oh and by the way
03:41he's been bad this year should also be no he's been I mean not just bad five touchdowns to ten
03:45interceptions you can make an argument worst quarterback in the NFL this year he's low he's
03:49lowest as far as EPA he is worst as far as PFF he is where every metric we have says
03:54he's been if not
03:55the worst quarterback in the sport the second worst quarterback in the sport but where Ben Solak is 100%
04:00right is the Browns should definitely call the Jets should definitely call and so should the Vikings
04:05because even if I don't know that Justin Herbert in the current I mean I think he would make a
04:11bigger
04:11difference than Deshaun because I think he's a much better quarterback than Deshaun this to me is
04:16about not just the rest of this year it is certainly about the the couple years after yeah I mean
04:21it's
04:21all about the traits that he has which is odd to say because like seven years in you should have
04:24a
04:24playoff win seven years in we should be talking about you as if you can overcome anything we shouldn't
04:29be talking about you as if we're drafting you in the first round in the 2027 draft but this is
04:34this is the lot that that Justin Herbert has basically existed in and so yeah I think the
04:38Browns should be involved now the question is whether or not the Chargers would have any interest
04:42Solak maintains they'd have zero interest in changing that I bet if you ask Harbaugh who's
04:46been on the record that he thinks Justin Herbert's the greatest quarterback to ever exist like seriously
04:50he said the greatest quarterback to ever play like I just don't think that's going to happen but
04:55but you watch him play these games with the Chargers and he's cooked right now yeah I feel like
04:58the thing that has to happen is I think if Jim if they go oh and eight if they lose
05:03this weekend
05:04and Harbaugh gets canned because Harbaugh stood behind Mike McDaniel obviously Horty Hortez is his
05:11his GM if they start oh and eight if Spano if the Spanos family fires Harbaugh and then basically
05:19mandates find a spot for Justin Herbert's that will at least be open to those offers that's a that's what
05:25I
05:25think could end up being the thing that changes this uh or changes the perspective from the the LA
05:30side yeah you'll need a full clean house is what you'll need yeah which might be what the Chargers
05:35need to be honest I don't know I hate doing that it's I would never if I had a franchise
05:39quarterback
05:39I wouldn't err on the side of doing that if there was a clear cut that's the guy Caleb Williams
05:45Joe
05:45Burrow uh Trevor Lawrence kind of quarterback prospect maybe I'd be more in line with this but moving on for
05:51Justin Herbert for Drew Mestemaker and I think Drew is an intriguing talent by the way I would not be
05:58upset if he was the Browns pick next year I think Darian Mensah reminds me a bit of uh Deshaun
06:04Watson
06:04coming out of of Houston not out of Clemson not a one for one in terms of quarterback but there's
06:09some similarities there and they're both winners in college but I'm not moving I personally think
06:14moving on from Justin Herbert for either of those guys is at best a downgrade but new beginnings owners
06:22talk themselves into stupid things but again I think it would have to be an ownership decision and I
06:26think that that would coincide with Harbaugh getting fired again it seems very very unlikely I think we
06:30can all acknowledge that but I think the part that is real is when the Browns are being mentioned in
06:34this that that is where Deshaun Watson has failed to remove that part of the conversation a couple weeks
06:39ago I thought he was trending in the right direction as far as us not talking about different
06:42quarterbacks to bring in or different quarterbacks to draft even after this last game I mean it is
06:49more likely than not and I'd say by a pretty wide margin that Deshaun Watson is not your quarterback
06:53next year and so like if you bring better and more enticing options the Browns are of course going to
06:58look at that yeah and if you'd asked me before the Steelers game would you trade for Justin Herbert
07:03if it meant moving on from Deshaun Watson I would have said yes that's not about Deshaun Watson to me
07:09that's about Justin Herbert 216-474-0092 I'm not bringing in Kirk Cousins at the deadline I'm not
07:15bringing in Spencer Rattler at the deadline 216-474-0092 are the Browns behind how do you view
07:23the Browns right now behind the contenders in the NFL or are they ahead of schedule and do you agree
07:29with the aura farmer Ben Solak that the Browns should put in a call about Justin Herbert ahead of
07:35the deadline Jim in Strongsville welcome to the show buddy what you got for us
07:42wait real quick Jim real quick real quick we got some weird signal thing going on can you just pick
07:48up and see if that is cleared up there Jax take your time though Jim always brings the heat we
07:53want to
07:53hear what Jim has to say Jax we're on Jack's standard time here all right the clocks just went back
07:58a
07:58moment there he was listen Jax is known for his ability to be understated yeah he's very that is
08:06actually the slowest I've ever seen him move he's cool under pressure you know like I imagine that's
08:11how people see me when I run is that right yeah it's like he's running right or is that a
08:16look into
08:16Jax when uh you're getting ready to pay the bill at the end of the night or something like that
08:19it
08:20just does no move towards the check it just I'll make a I'll make a pathetic attempt at it maybe
08:24all right uh well hopefully Jim will call back I think uh I don't know that Jim realized he was
08:28having those issues uh it's interesting the three teams Browns Jets and Vikings I think the Vikings
08:34are the most if you plug him into that scenario I think you can just I think it would totally
08:41change
08:41the NFC picture assuming by the way that Herbert's brain isn't broke right now that is fair because there
08:46is that that element of him just having this uh this processing you know basically computer-esque brain
08:52that now it's just malfunctioned because of all the bad offensive line play and bad receivers
08:56and he's just that's why he looks so bad right now but I look at the Vikings and they don't
09:00have
09:00extra draft collateral nor do they have a young quarterback to trade back the way of the Chargers
09:06if that is one I would assume it's going to be built like the Stafford to LA trade there's some
09:12semblance of a young quarterback even if it's not a you know former first or second round pick
09:17but this is an interesting spot where maybe trading JJ McCarthy a couple weeks back
09:22maybe that could have been the piece McCarthy and three first for Herbert might have been the
09:26thing to entice uh Jim Harbaugh at the deadline if they start 0-8 Solak believes that the price
09:32has come down on uh Herbert in this conversation by the way he thinks it's now two first okay it's
09:37not three for no longer is it three first at first he thought it was three first then shopped
09:41around asked some people and now at this point because Herbert again I can't stress to you guys how
09:45bad Justin Herbert has been I think we've all watched these games and obviously they're
09:48winless for a reason but this is I mean this is the numbers are embarrassing for him all right
09:52yeah now that it's a two first that's an absolute no-brainer for me yeah and and a lot of
09:57this is
09:57well-found place in Todd Munkin like it wouldn't bug me if you traded for Justin Herbert and gave him
10:03I don't think it would work this way because the NFL doesn't work this way but if you gave him
10:08two to three weeks to kind of get into the offense and gave Deshaun more time like I wouldn't even
10:13mind that it would be a long-term play because he's got it he's got a four-year deal and
10:16so what you'd be
10:17doing with this is and you wouldn't even be punting on this year you're still playing for this season
10:20but if he struggles and basically what has happened in Los Angeles just broke his football ability for
10:25a little bit fine so be it I'll see you I'll see you in 2027 but then you have your
10:29franchise
10:29quarterback and you can really run
