00:00Welcome back to From the South. We continue to assess the key issues in this U.S. election campaign for
00:05midterms.
00:06To analyze everything about this, we are joined by our correspondent in Florida, Carlos Montero.
00:12Welcome, Carlos, to From the South.
00:16Hi, Ana, how are you? Many people here in Miami, they said, OK, I'm going to work until 5 o
00:22'clock, then I have two hours, 7 o'clock are the closing polls.
00:26But what an awful idea. Fifteen minutes ago, it started to rain like crazy.
00:32Of course, everybody who was with propaganda campaign, they left. People who were voting, I mean, they left completely.
00:40It wasn't the best idea. But very soon, 7 o'clock, Easter time, in one hour and 15 minutes, we
00:50are going to know, stop the projection.
00:52We are going to know what happened. What the projection said, that's going to be the Democrat Day.
00:59It's going to be a beautiful day for them because they are going to gain power of the Congress and
01:05the many governors and different local positions.
01:09But the truth here in Miami, Ana, is the Republican, they went out to vote.
01:15They want that the party keep this state, a very important state, usually was a red state, a Republican state.
01:24And it was changed in position and they went out and they hear what I talk to people.
01:29They said, we are going to be that blue wave. We are going to win. We respect President Trump.
01:36And I said, but President Trump is doing good his job. You agree with him.
01:41And they said, we agree with his philosophy. Maybe he's not doing things as good as we would like.
01:47But we don't want socialism to come here to this country. That's what they say.
01:53Here is a state. Most of them are Republican. They are right-wing.
01:58And precisely, Donald Trump, a few minutes ago, half an hour ago, he published a Twitter annex promoting Maria Elvira
02:08Salazar.
02:09She's running for the District 27, a very Latin district. Seventy percent of the people who live there, they are
02:16Latin.
02:16He said, you have to support Maria Elvira Salazar because she's fighting socialism.
02:22His opponent, his opponent, the Democrat, Elliot Rodriguez, he was also a reporter, a journalist.
02:30And Trump said he represents the left of this country. We don't want that.
02:35Okay, Anna, we know what's going to happen soon. Let's wait. And when we start to get the first result,
02:42we are going to be back to you.
02:44Thank you very much, Carla, for the information. And thank you for being here with us in From the South.
02:50See you in our special program.
