00:00Mike, let's get into the team now, the 2026 Notre Dame team.
00:03You know, I watched them against UCF.
00:05I was – or I watched that BYU team, actually,
00:09that really fumbled the ball against UCF a little bit,
00:12and then Notre Dame goes up to Provo,
00:15and they end up getting beat by that team.
00:17And I saw them against Navy.
00:18Maybe looking ahead to the Miami game a little bit,
00:21what's been your takeaway so far on this Notre Dame team?
00:26Well, they obviously had two games circled going into the year, BYU and Miami.
00:32Those were the tests, the true tests.
00:35I mean, Wisconsin's been a little bit better than expected,
00:37but they're still in a transition phase.
00:40Michigan State's rebuilding.
00:41They're going to be good in a year or two.
00:42But, no, the front part of the schedule did not have nearly enough juice.
00:46Carolina gave them a little scare.
00:48They were a point down North Carolina was early in the second half.
00:51But that BYU loss really shook them.
00:54They had a full bye week after that to process it, to keep going through the film,
00:59to figure out why, for instance, C.J. Carr, who's so accurate ordinarily,
01:04was missing receivers by yards and not inches
01:07and overthrowing Jordan Faison in the end zone.
01:10Of course, the final drive, I mean, you've seen that last play plenty of times.
01:14That was not what you're looking for at a championship level.
01:18I mean, he had one option, basically.
01:20And, of course, one second left, supposedly.
01:23I don't know, even the Big 12 officiating said that.
01:26But all that's under the bridge.
01:27Navy, you're right.
01:28They had to be looking ahead in the first half.
01:30But you also have some issues on defense where the injuries are really piled up.
01:35There's two more this week that are questionable.
01:39Defensive tackles, Francis Brew, the pit transfer, Jason Onye, a six-year guy.
01:44They have depth at every position, but the injuries are cutting into that depth on defense,
01:49and it's something to watch.
