00:00Kurt Signetti had a great take on this, and I want you to hear a coach who just won the
00:05national championship and his comments about ESPN.
00:09I want to put this in context.
00:11Folks, ESPN owns the college football playoff.
00:17Disney owns the college playoff.
00:21How do you not think Disney has say or influence on what teams are going to be in the college
00:28football playoff?
00:29More so than any other television network, including Fox.
00:34How do you not think that that's going to be an influence?
00:38Reese Davis says it all the time that we have no influence whatsoever.
00:41I don't know if I had a company and I had property rights to the Southeastern Conference, and I don't
00:47have first take when it comes to the Big Ten like Fox does.
00:51Remember, Fox is the Big Ten.
00:53The Southeastern Conference is ESPN.
00:56And here was Kurt Signetti, the head coach of IU, making comments about ESPN and being critical of them.
01:04SEC gets a lot of love from the ESPN, you know, and all their writers that they don't technically pay
01:11but march to their journey.
01:13Right.
01:13So, and that's why you see all these SEC teams up there, you know, and some good two-loss teams
01:19from the Big Ten, not quite as high.
01:22But, like I said, it's all going to be played out on the field.
01:28It will be played out on the field, but when it comes to decision-making, and the committee has to
01:33make a decision here,
01:34who do you think ESPN is going to take?
01:38Do you believe that they're going to take a football team like UCLA and put them in if it becomes
01:45a conversation versus, say, an LSU team?
01:49I mean, UCLA has played really nobody.
01:52And are you going to put people into the college football playoff because of record?
01:57We don't know what the metric is and how these teams are being picked.
02:02This past Tuesday, when they were selecting these teams, I had no idea what the metric was on how they're
02:09looking.
02:09Is it strength of schedule?
02:11Is it who you're going to play?
02:14Are you gauging the losses?
02:16Look at where you've got some of these teams here.
02:19Indiana got beat by Ohio State.
02:21I get there's another loss there,
02:23but what's the incentive for Ohio State to go play Texas and not be like Indiana moving forward?
02:32Why would you play an out-of-conference game and a big-time ball game like that when you can
02:38play nobody's state or Helen Keller University like Indiana does
02:42and just play your Big Ten schedule and get into the Big Ten championship?
02:46What's the incentive for some of these schools to do that?
02:49There isn't one.
02:50What's the metric when you're talking about strength of schedule?
02:53Look, do I think quality losses matter?
02:56Yeah.
02:56If you've got a 10-0 football team, like, what's Boise State doing in the college football playoff?
03:05You're just holding and giving out hall passes?
03:08Like, last year, James Madison and Tulane, why are they in the college football playoff?
03:15They don't deserve being in the college football playoff.
03:18They don't play anybody.
03:19I'm looking for the 12 best teams in the United States to give me the best opportunity to see who
03:27the best team in the country is.
03:28Not a beauty pageant.
03:30The great thing about the college football season is the regular season.
03:33There's no question.
03:34But once we start getting into the bowl season and we start getting into the selections here, then it becomes
03:40political.
03:41This is a political tournament.
03:44This is not really who the best is.
03:46Now, look, you see the teams, Georgia, you see Utah, and you're just assuming this is why you don't really
03:53get upsets.
03:55This is not like the college basketball tournament here, where a true national champion is picked.
04:01By the way, the college basketball championships and the NCAA tournament, it's the best tournament in all of college sports.
04:10Because you're picking a true national champion.
04:13Here, you're picking beauty contests.
04:15Between the Big Ten and the Southeastern Conference.
04:18And the television networks clearly have the say on who's going to be the national champion.
04:24All that being said, Saturday, Notre Dame, Miami.
04:29Got a feeling.
04:29Touchdown, Jesus.
04:30Don't take a knee.
04:31Go, Kane.
