00:17We're going live to Uruguay as Pope Leo XIV continues his apostolic journey in his first
00:22stop on his journey in Latin America in Uruguay. We're seeing the Pope being greeted by the people
00:29that are gathered here in a very vulnerable community that he's visiting today, the community
00:36of Casa Valle, one of the vulnerable communities of the capital of Uruguay, Montevideo, where he's
00:43going to meet with the heads of the parish of this social community. We are seeing people have
00:52gathered to welcome him and the Pope has been greeting as many people as he could, as he can,
00:58as he continues to walk alongside church authorities, the person that we're seeing to his left is the
01:06priest of the parish of this social community Casa Valle in Montevideo, one of the areas that houses
01:16vulnerable population, one of the impoverished regions in the capital of Uruguay, Montevideo.
01:24These are all activities scheduled as part, as we were saying, of his apostolic journey to Latin America,
01:34which will see him travel to Uruguay, where he is today, and then to Argentina and Peru. He is
01:41undertaking this journey across South America, as we were saying, visiting these Latin American countries
01:47countries for the next 12 days, and it represents an important moment for the Catholic Church in Latin America,
01:55a region with deep Catholic traditions and a history closely connected to the Church's religious, cultural,
02:01and social influence. We are seeing the Pope now greeting the children, the young, of this social community,
02:09Casa Valle in Montevideo, as he's walking, and as you might notice, the housing that is around where the Pope
02:17has been walking,
02:18they're all pretty much the same. They all look the same because it's part of projects to provide housing to
02:24this vulnerable community. We continue to see the Pope greeting the people that live in this neighborhood.
02:33There from this overview, you can notice what I was referring to the housing. As construction continues to spread,
02:45to be able to provide housing to the people that are vulnerable, and when we say this is a vulnerable
02:52community, it's because it's on the outskirts of the capital, and public services, for example, are
03:00difficult to come by in this outskirts, in this town that is in the outskirts, this community that is in
03:06the outskirts of the capital,
03:08among the video. We continue to see the Pope greeting, speaking with the people, and see if we can listen
03:18to what he's saying.
03:29A big blessing from the Pope, for all the people who have gathered here.
03:38Life is important, he says, and that we, he also asks for the blessing that we can remain faithful in
03:47our faith.
04:02And to the Pope, speaking with the people of the Casa Valle community, and giving them his blessing as well,
04:10we're seeing this old lady, and that was very shyly saying if he could greet her, and the Pope said
04:18yes,
04:18and he greeted her, shook her hand. Now the Pope will continue as part of this, we're saying, his apostolic
04:24journey
04:25through Uruguay, that will also continue this area earlier on Saturday. He traveled outside the capital to
04:33Paisandu, a city in western Uruguay near the border with Argentina, and that visit was one of the major
04:39activities of Uruguay, and bringing together thousands of faithful from different parts of the country,
04:45and the more regions. And now he's continuing his schedule planned here in Uruguay, after visiting Paisandu.
04:58He's currently visiting the visit to Casa Valle neighborhood, and now he will go on to have a meeting
05:05with members of the community at the parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe. That's where the Pope is going to
05:11be
05:12heading now. After greeting the people here in this area of the vulnerable community of Casa Valle,
05:19he will now move on, as we were saying, to have this meeting in the parish of Lady of Guadalupe.
05:27And this
05:27is particularly significant because Casa Valle faces social, as we were saying, socioeconomic challenges,
05:33including poverty, marginalization, insecurity, and the impact of organized drug traffic in the visit.
05:41To this area highlights the social dimension of the Catholic Church's mission and its work with
05:49communities facing difficult living conditions. It also provides an opportunity to discuss the
05:58importance of community organizations, social support, and public policies capable of addressing
06:05structural causes of exclusion and violence. Let's listen to the ambience of the people gathered here
06:12where the Pope is going to have a meeting with the community.
