00:00You
00:03Have you guys ever been called to the principal's office when you were in school? Oh
00:09Multiple yeah, I believe it and I believe that Jeff had never gotten the call to the principal's office if
00:14you want to know the truth
00:15Yes, one time and I ended up in the principal's office for two period classes
00:21Discussing the pep rally that was coming up. Okay, okay
00:25It was more social she brought lunch
00:28I got it. I run this place literally what she said. I run this place
00:34I love that. Well, it was a different situation for the teachers at Ross Valley School District
00:40In California where a principal actually called all 100 teachers to an assembly recently
00:47So it's the beginning of the school year and the teachers didn't know what to expect and on their way
00:54in each was handed an envelope
00:57They were instructed not to open it now teachers are rule makers and their rule followers. Yes, they are
01:03So they were obedient in sitting there
01:07Nicely without opening their envelopes
01:10But also uncomfortably because they felt like they had just been called into the principal's office, right?
01:16Mm-hmm. Well, it turns out that while they're sitting there in this assembly one of the local residents named
01:21Maya
01:22stands up and addresses
01:23the audience and she's talking about how she has been a long-time resident of this town and she appreciates
01:31all that the
01:32Teachers do so she instructed them to open their envelopes and inside each was a personal check for just over
01:409
01:41Thousand dollars um
01:43What in each
01:45Envelope every single teacher got more than nine thousand dollars
01:51Maya made this donation after finding out last year
01:54That the funding in the district where they live is in the bottom four percent statewide
02:00And so teachers are the lowest paid in the county and she wouldn't have it
02:04So she made a one million dollar donation
02:07Specifically to the teachers in that school
02:10I like
02:11Going between chills and tears
02:13Yeah, because I mean really think about it if this is one of the lowest paid areas for teachers
02:19nine thousand dollars could very well be like a fifth of their take home a fourth of their take home
02:24You know what I mean? This is
02:26Massive amounts of money
02:27I mean, I thought you're gonna say nine hundred or ninety dollars to help with with
02:33back-to-school supplies
02:34Yeah, exactly
02:35No
02:35Nine hundred thousand
02:36What?
02:37Yeah
02:37Wow
02:38A million dollars of a donation and it's from somebody in the community, which I think is so special because
02:43they recognize
02:44And i'm guessing if she's a long-time resident. I don't want to surmise but like
02:48Probably doesn't have kids in school anymore, right?
02:51If you're long time maybe 20 30 40 years in that community
02:54And she still wants to get back to the teachers educating the youth right what her and and she made
02:59a point like once this
03:01You know got some ground in the area and it was covered by news outlets and stuff
03:05She was like teachers can accept a personal donation from a citizen
03:10So if you can do it help them
03:12Yeah, that's something I never realized
03:15Either is that I mean obviously it makes sense
03:18I know that like nurses because I tried to give some gifts to the delivery nurses
03:23Right, right
03:23It's like a little sketchy here and there you got to be careful on what you do, but nonetheless
03:28You can find a way for our nurses for our teachers and andy
