Despite the depreciation of the US dollar and low international oil prices, foreign investment in Ecuador grew last year by 6%, bucking the regional trend. Two-thirds of the investment was earmarked to energy projects. Investment in natural resources, the food industry, and agriculture are draws for foreign capital.
