00:00 Well, of course the weekends are a popular time to head to the local home improvement stores
00:04 But it's a little trickier when there is tropical weather overhead
00:08 There's been sporadic downpours and of course folks trying to avoid those while they run their errands over the weekend
00:14 But I will say the locals that we talked to today
00:16 They're starting to think a little bit more about hurricane season with everything that's going on in the Atlantic Basin
00:22 But as some people will tell you it could do a little bit more to be prepared. I
00:27 Own a house. So, you know, we have to be concerned about it. Am I prepared for it?
00:32 No, should I be more prepared for it? Probably
00:35 What have you learned over the years being a native Floridian? When do you start?
00:39 What are some signs for you that you know, I probably should check things out
00:42 Make sure I'm ready to go in case it gets busy. I mean, you know, I always have an extra case of water
00:48 Usually there's some like batteries for flashlights, but I probably should be a little bit more prepared over the years
00:53 It's been getting worse right every year the season is a little worse normally probably should be more prepared
00:59 But probably wait till everybody else is running to get gas and water and hop on the bandwagon
01:04 then probably should be more prepared about water and power and
01:08 AC is very important here in sunny, South Florida
01:11 With about 80% of the hurricane season still left
01:15 There is a lot of time for things to get busy and we will say that the folks that we've talked to today
01:20 They realize that the natives especially that have lived Florida their entire lives
01:24 Have said that they kind of have their go-to system
01:27 They kind of wait and see when there's something that's threatening the state of Florida and then they tend to get in high gear
01:32 But a lot of the people also told us the early bird gets the worm
01:36 One of the fastest things to sell out when there's a threatening tropical system is water gas and local supplies
01:43 For now, we're in Broward County. I'm Leslie Hudson reporting for AccuWeather
