00:03 But now in Atlanta, how far do you think Kirk Cousins can bring
00:07 the Falcons this upcoming season?
00:10 >> Well, I think he can make them definitely competitive.
00:13 He's a compiler as you know, and he can make them make and
00:16 win a division title.
00:18 But expecting Kirk Cousins to take this team,
00:20 guys, to an NFC Championship game, I just don't see it.
00:24 He hasn't done it in Minnesota, never done it in his career.
00:28 So why do we think he's gonna do it coming off of the Achilles tendons there
00:32 with a young football team and a first year head coach,
00:35 even though it's his second stint in Raheem Morris?
00:38 Again, because of the division is so weak, I think they could be competitive.
00:43 But I still would give the inside edge, guys, to the Tampa Bay Bucs and
00:47 Baker Mayfield.
00:48 >> Yeah, if we're taking a look at the NFC South, it is a weak division.
00:52 Last year for me, I thought it was gonna be the New Orleans Saints winning that
00:54 division there.
00:55 They weren't able to get that done.
00:57 But if we're lining up, I love this move for the Atlanta Falcons,
01:00 not necessarily for the future.
01:01 I think what Joe is talking about is what's the ultimate goal?
01:03 Of course, it's making deep runs in the playoffs.
01:06 But for a team like Atlanta, that seems like so far in between here,
01:09 that we've had some deep runs in the playoffs.
01:11 Just maybe being the best team in the division is enough for them.
01:14 Winning the division, which also you saw last year, a mediocre Tampa Bay team gets
01:17 into the playoffs, gets a home game and bounces a team like the Philadelphia Eagles.
01:21 I think the Atlanta Falcons, Joe, can have a successful season,
01:24 which means winning the NFC South and
01:26 also getting a home playoff game and picking up a victory there.
01:29 I think it was a step in the right direction for Atlanta.
01:31 And by the way, let me ask you this.
01:33 If it wasn't Kirk Cousins for you, Joe,
01:35 who was gonna be that guy in Atlanta that they were looking for?
01:37 >> Well, Donny, I think you bring up great points, but
01:40 I could have made the argument of Justin Fields.
01:42 You could have capitalized on his mobility and versatility.
01:47 He did play his college football initially at Georgia and Athens.
01:51 And if you could catch lightning in a bottle, now you have a quarterback for
01:55 the future for the next five to seven seasons.
01:57 So the window is very small, in my opinion, with Kirk Cousins.
02:02 It's similar to what we see with the New York Jets in terms of Aaron Rodgers, right?
02:06 Maybe one, two, or at the most, three seasons.
02:09 So if they don't win an NFC Championship this year or next year, for
02:13 me, it's a wasted investment.
