00:03 Garrett Cole, here's the issue.
00:05 We know how good he is.
00:06 When he's at the top of his game, there might be nobody better.
00:09 But the issue of a power pitcher already having elbow issues in spring training,
00:13 we typically know where this goes.
00:15 Talking out of New York here, Craig,
00:17 I know they're gonna try to downplay, which they always do.
00:20 But it looks like he's not gonna be available for the opening day start.
00:23 Is this something they're gonna be real cautious with, and
00:25 we don't see him till midsummer?
00:27 Or might we get that news in two to three weeks?
00:29 The dreaded, we're gonna have to open up this elbow and see what's inside here.
00:33 >> Yeah, I don't think, Don, you're gonna have to wait that long.
00:35 I mean, look, it's a little different covering the Yankees than it is covering
00:41 some of the other teams in the league.
00:42 You have 10, 15 reporters at least at every spring training game and
00:47 asking Aaron Boone questions.
00:48 You could go around to some of these teams in the Cactus League and
00:51 Grapefruit League, you may only find two or three reporters there.
00:54 A couple questions and then it's lunchtime.
00:56 So I don't think they're gonna be able to get away with not saying anything for
01:00 a week or so.
01:01 My guess is in the next day or two,
01:03 you're gonna find out what the results were of that MRI.
01:07 And then we can make the proper diagnosis here.
01:09 As far as opening day, look, I mean, clearly at this point, he's not starting.
01:12 He's in shutdown mode.
01:14 I mean, he's gonna start, I would guess, okay?
01:16 I'm not gonna be the doctor here, but
01:18 I would guess that he'll start the season on the injured list.
01:20 The concern would be anything longer than that.
01:23 But generally speaking, once guys, once pitchers are shut down,
01:27 they have a work backup and making minor league starts.
01:30 And it's usually, again, different for every pitcher, about a month.
01:33 That's kind of the way that it works.
01:35 You make a first minor league start, a second, a third, and then you're back.
01:38 So I think April, with no serious issues, could be potentially a time that
01:43 we would see him again if there's nothing serious, and that may be later in the
01:48 month.
01:49 But again, that's complete speculation on my part, just going on track record.
01:53 Again, Donnie, I don't see this going into next week.
01:55 I think you'll get a better indication very soon.
01:58 If you hear a second opinion, you know right away something is serious.
