00:00Well, it's Medway Cocktail Week, meaning more than 40 venues are offering cheaper concoctions.
00:05From Aperol Spritz to Zombies, there's 79 drinks in total to choose from.
00:10From the 1st of August to the 11th, each bar will have chosen or created at least one unique
00:14cocktail that those with a pre-bought wristband can buy for less.
00:19The event is now in its fifth year, having been started in 2020 as a way for the hospitality
00:23industry of Medway to recover after the COVID pandemic.
00:27The venues do not have to pay any fees to sign up and are able to keep all profits from
00:31their sales, making it a unique business opportunity.
00:34You know, you really look to the summer months, especially if you've got an amazing terrace
00:38like this, to get that boost in sales.
00:41And of course, the beginning of the summer, as we all know, was horrible weather.
00:46So it's great to A, have some nice weather come back, and also then Medway Cocktail Week
00:53to boost that sales and provide a bit of a fillip to everybody in the trade in Medway.
01:01Cocktail making is a skill, and knowing how to model, strain, garnish, twist, wheel or
01:05zest can seem a bit intimidating to those new to mixology.
01:09Well, I'm going to teach you how to make some of the cocktails you're going to see throughout
01:14Medway Cocktail Week.
01:15Now bear in mind, I did used to work at a bar.
01:17We had a lot of cocktails, and I could only make two of them.
01:21This is not one of the ones I could make.
01:23So fingers crossed, it all goes well.
01:26The recipe sees dockyard gin, passion fruit puree, lime juice, and sugar syrup mixed in
01:31a glass, stirred with ice, topped with soda water, and garnished with half a passion fruit.

01:41Over in Rochester, the Mike, together with the Sully from Disney's Monsters, Inc., makes
01:45up the George Vault's new exclusive drinks, specially for Cocktail Week.
01:50It definitely helps, but we try to push the cocktails, because obviously we love the cocktails,
01:53we love to make the cocktails, and I think cocktails are fun to drink and make.
01:58So yeah, but Cocktail Week definitely helps to promote the cocktails all over the area.
02:02So yes, absolutely.
02:03For the Cocktail Week, this year we've done two cocktails, usually it's one, but if people
02:07want, we do over 50 cocktails, whatever they want.
02:09If you have ingredients, we can make it.
02:11The Vaults hope the event will promote their newest bar, Affinity 35, that was opened last
02:15month.
02:17And if you end up missing this week, Canterbury, Rochester and Maidstone will have their own
02:21Cocktail Weeks in October, February and May.
