00:00Ladies and gentlemen, we always like to have fun people on this show, talented people on this show, hilarious people on this show, friends of the show.
00:07Unfortunately, today we did not make that happen, but we do have a guy that we absolutely love.
00:13Ladies and gentlemen, welcome Travis Denning.
00:17I want to say, your jokes are getting a little more predictable as you get older with that.
00:22I mean, I'm just going to be straight out with you.
00:25Well, I was going to congratulate you on Georgia going to the national championship, but not anymore, pal.
00:30Oh!
00:31Hey, listen, I do not fit in in Los Angeles, but by God, I will be there.
00:36I'm flying out on Sunday, and I'm so excited.
00:40That game took years off my life.
00:43Really?
00:44Oh, that was, I mean, that game was just the most stressful game I've ever witnessed.
00:49I can't believe we won.
00:51Matt Madison couldn't even watch the final field goal, and I just sat there with my seventh Jack and Coach.
00:56Yeah, I was going to ask you.
00:59What do you remember from the game, Matt?
01:00Because I figured you'd be a little stress-drinking.
01:03I woke up.
01:04She said we won.
01:05She said, also, your probation officer has called three times, and you need to call him back.
01:09I'm telling you.
01:11I love it.
01:12Oh, my goodness.
01:13Travis Denning on the phone.
01:14Going to be at the Stockyard tonight, 2023.
01:17Getting back out on the road.
01:18It's got to feel good.
01:19Oh, I'm so excited, man.
01:20These are obviously our first shows back, and it's always a good time to kick it off in Florida.
01:24And I'm glad we're finally doing these, because this whole weekend was rescheduled from when the hurricane came through in Fort Myers.
01:33And not only are we going to be at the Stockyard, but we're going to be in Fort Myers on Saturday, which is really exciting.
01:41I'm glad we get to go back.
01:42And it's just, you know, Florida always bounces back, baby.
01:45So it's good to go down and hang out, and I can't wait.
01:49Well, I'll tell you what, man.
01:50I had a kind of, seriously, one of my highlights of the summer was the Dierks Bentley show that you were on, and you absolutely crushed it.
01:56That had to be a great tour.
01:58We talked a little bit about it, about you getting to go on the plane with Dierks and all that stuff.
02:03But as far as just an entertainer and watching that guy do what he does and do it for so long, I always like asking, is there something you saw or maybe something in the bag of tricks that he has that you're like, you know what?
02:14I've got to start applying that to my sets when I perform.
02:17And this will be the most serious question I ask you, so enjoy it, okay?
02:21I was about to say, I am absolutely blown away.
02:23I don't even know how to answer.
02:24No, I think for me, man, just as a whole, he is the pinnacle example of a guy who five minutes before stage, he's probably texting his wife or talking to some friends, and he just goes, all right, I've got to go hop on stage.
02:39You know, that's how real he is.
02:41Like, there's not really a, there's not like a switch that turns on for him.
02:45Like, he goes on stage, and he is Dierks Bentley.
02:49And he's just, he's just a great dude.
02:51He's so fun and easy to get along with.
02:54I mean, he sits there backstage.
02:56And, I mean, you guys were there backstage, and there were so many people.
02:59I had a lot of friends and family there.
03:01I mean, and he sat there and talked to everybody.
03:04I mean, it was like, and it's just, I think for me, the authentic aspect of that and how it carries over on stage, it's infectious from, like, a crowd standpoint.
03:15If you're, you know, if you're watching it, it just bleeds all over you.
03:19I mean, so I think just being authentic and going out there and not having to, like, change anything or, you know, turn on some kind of alter ego thing, that was very inspiring for me.
03:30And I will tell you, in all honesty, I do think that Tampa show was probably the best show of the tour.
03:36It was definitely the best crowd that I had as being the opener of the whole tour.
03:42I remember coming out on stage, and, I mean, that place was slam-packed.
03:46I mean, it was unbelievable.
03:46I remember when you were on stage, and then when Ashley McBride was on stage, that thing was full.
03:53And then come with Dirk's, I mean, we were ready for it.
03:55So, you know, and also definitely get out to the stockyard tonight for Travis Denning because he is a show to be seen.
04:02I have said too many nice things about this guy.
04:04His head's going to get big.
04:05Lana, go ahead and take it from there.
04:07Oh, I was just, I mean, the one thing I love about Travis's show, I mean, my favorite song, After a Few,
04:12by the way, is the most played song on this radio station in Tampa.
04:17We have the most spins on After a Few than any other song, and I'm still not sick of that song.
04:23I love it.
04:23It just rocks.
04:25I think I'm officially sick of it, so I'm glad you're doing it.
04:29We will not be doing that song tonight.
04:33People show up, and I don't play it.
04:36They're just like, cool, give me my, you know, $4 back or whatever I paid for it.
04:40You've just had so many fun songs, though, and now you've got to single out, of course, about the way that you met Madison.
04:46How is Madison?
04:47Is she doing good?
04:48She's doing wonderful.
04:49She just graduated with her master's from Johns Hopkins.
04:54That's awesome.
04:55So she is officially, not that I needed any reminding, but she's officially way smarter than I'll ever be.
05:01Say that college one more time, Travis.
05:03Yeah, yeah, yeah.
05:05Johns Hopkins.
05:06Yes.
05:07You're like, well, I mean, I write songs.
05:10Does that count, babe?
05:11Well, I'll say it's no, you know, it's no, like, Georgia community college, you know, but whatever.
05:17It's no big deal.
05:18Well, you married up.
05:19You did the right thing.
05:20Yeah, exactly.
05:21Exactly.
05:22We'll have a pre, like, little bachelor party for you because I know the wedding's coming up here pretty soon,
05:27and you've got to have a party with Lana and JR and Kevin before you can actually go walking down the aisle, right?
05:32Oh, absolutely.
05:33We're less than six months out.
05:35I mean, I think it's time to at least get in some kind of criminal or moral trouble with you guys one more time before the wedding comes off.
05:42Oh, man.
05:42Love to.
05:43This whole month's bad for me, though.
05:44I apologize.
05:48I'm just kidding, brother.
05:49All right.
05:50Travis Denning at the Stockyard tonight.
05:52Hey, do yourself a favor.
05:53Go see this man live in concert.
05:56So talented.
05:57We'll see you tonight, man.
05:58Thank you, guys.
05:59See you then.
05:59All right, man.
06:00Appreciate you, Travis.
