00:00Brian Anger on to putt.
00:07Their catch called for at the 19 yard line by D Alford.
00:11That's where the Falcons will take over.
00:15Jayden Blue and the Cowboys with a 14 to 3 lead
00:18as we approach the midway part of the second quarter
00:22here at AT&T Stadium and Cowboys back on defense when we come back.
00:30All right, who's ready?
00:34I'm open.
00:38Boys scratch tickets from the Texas Lottery.
00:40Play today for your chance to win up to $100,000.
00:44Season tickets and VIP experiences.
00:51Smiles all around on that Cowboys sideline
00:53as we play here in the second quarter.
00:57You think Dak will let me borrow his shoes?
01:01No, not a chance.
01:02I don't think so.
01:03Come on.
01:04He has a Jordan contract.
01:09I can start at the 20.
01:12And it's Elijah Dotson up the middle for maybe two.
01:16Trayvon digs one of the big question marks coming into this season.
01:23His injury status.
01:26He's been on the physically unable to perform list since the outset of training camp.
01:31Cowboys with issues at the cornerback position with injuries.
01:37One of the corners in the game right now, Michael Ojemudia, who was signed just this past week.
01:46Number 42.
01:49Second down and eight.
01:54Nick Nash to the 33 with Troy Pride defending.
01:59Nick Nash is putting in the work today.
02:02Hey, Nick Nash last year at San Jose State.
02:05He was a finalist for the Bolitnikoff Award and a lot of people thought he should have won it.
02:09He led the nation last year in receptions, receiving yardage and touchdowns for San Jose State.
02:17But Travis Hunter won the Bolitnikoff Award.
02:19Yeah.
02:20So he was in the running against Travis Hunter.
02:21Yeah.
02:22So.
02:23So you're saying he could play some ball.
02:24Yes.
02:25Well, he's showing it tonight.
02:28Former quarterback, too.
02:33Elijah Dotson out of the backfield.
02:37That was quickly over.
02:39And that's Michael Ojemudia out of Iowa.
02:42Former draft pick of the Denver Broncos back five years ago.
02:46I know we've talked a lot about the Dallas Cowboys defensive line in regards to their abilities to stop the run.
02:56But obviously Atlanta's coming out and having a fair share of passes.
02:59What is his pass rush going to look like?
03:01James Houston out there, the defensive in position.
03:04Tyrus Wheat.
03:06But not only are you looking for your interior defense alignment to stop the run, but you want to see them get some pressure in terms of pass pressure as well.
03:12Usually in the form of pass of a bull rush.
03:15Not much running room that time for the Falcons.
03:19Cowboys swarm.
03:21Elijah Dotson at the 40.
03:24Looks like Atlanta's coming in with 11 personnel here on the third and second.
03:31Third and short.
03:33Situation.
03:37A lot of times as an offense, you don't want to show too much in the preseason, but this is around the time where as office coordinator you start to get a little bit frustrated.
03:45You start wanting to figure it out.
03:46Hey, should I put some extra motions in there?
03:48Put a little extra spice in this thing to see if we can make something happen.
03:51Got a fly motion across the formation.
03:53A little slide route.
03:54And Felipe Franks reaching for the first down.
03:57Can't get it.
03:58Elijah Clark.
03:59comes up to make the stop.
04:01Zach Robinson, the offensive coordinator for the Falcons.
04:04Formerly with the Rams in his second year.
04:06Talking about this tight end coming across on this slide route right here.
04:09It's very difficult for the safeties that pick it up.
04:11But Elijah Clark once again comes up, sees ball early before the snap.
04:16Comes downhill.
04:17Puts a big hit on the tight end to keep him short of the down a distance.
04:22Forces a punt.
04:23Big play for the Dallas Cowboys and another good play for Elijah Clark.
04:27The undrafted rookie out of Syracuse, Elijah Clark, had a tackle for loss earlier and stops Felipe Franks short of the first down marker, forcing the punt here.
04:46Drifting back inside the 10-yard line.
04:49Jalen Cropo takes a big hit at the 15-yard line.
04:54Jeez.
04:55That's Josh Woods, the linebacker.
04:59Woo!
05:00All those at home that think that they can play special teams, Bill, they might want to second-guess it after that one.
05:07You're just happy everyone got up from that tackle from Josh Woods to the Falcons.
05:14Cowboys backed up at their own 15-yard line.
05:18Deuce Bond back in the game at running back.
05:20Picks up three right up the middle.
05:25Now you're really going to see some clock management.
05:28I know if you're Brian Schottenheimer right now with your young offense out here, you want to see these guys utilize all five and a half minutes that were remaining on the clock.
05:35Can you have the last possession going into the half?
05:38These are game management type situations now that you want to see your quarterback Milton handle.
05:43As well as awareness of some of your offensive players.
05:47Once again, it's Vaughn.
05:49And he muscles his way forward for about four out to the 22.
05:53Jaron Christian is now in the game at left tackle.
05:56Awesome. Richard started the game at left tackle.
05:58Otherwise, the same offensive line in there that started the game.
06:02With Brock Hoffman at center.
06:04T.J. Bass at left guard.
06:06Deuce now has 40 yards on seven carries.
06:10Both Blue and Vaughn have been productive.
06:14Third and three.
06:20On the slant.
06:22There's Ryan Flannoy.
06:23And there's a first down.
06:24Really good read.
06:26We talked about it earlier actually with Easton Stick when he had single high safety and a double slant.
06:31Now Joe Milton has his opportunity to have a single high safety and a double slant.
06:36You're going to see it here.
06:37He takes away that.
06:38We've got that defensive back.
06:40You go straight to your outside receiver.
06:42It's automatic read for a quarterback who knows what he's looking for versus a coverage that he knows what it is.
06:46Way to be decisive.
06:48Good ball location.
06:49First down the Cowboys.
06:50Milton six out of nine for 79 yards throwing the football first down from the 31 and here's Vaughn again.
06:57He's swallowed at the 30 yard line trying to get back to the line of scrimmage.
07:03Might have got back there.
07:07This is a challenge that's being handed down from Brian Schottenheimer right now all the way down to Connor Riley the offensive line coach and all the way down to Clayton Adams the offensive coordinator.
07:16Can my offensive line move the defensive line backwards.
07:20We want to have the last possession here going into the half.
07:23We need to have a sustained drive which means we need to be able to run the ball effectively.
07:31And it's Vaughn trying the left side.
07:33Not much there.
07:35Maybe it's two.
07:37It's going to bring up a third and long.
07:39Good read by Nick Cubitts.
07:41Linebacker for the Atlanta Falcons is running that play down from behind.
07:45Deuce Vaughn was showing a good job of having patience there but Nick ran about from behind.
07:51Nick Cubitts out of North Dakota State college teammate of Hunter Lipke.
07:55Hunter Lipke was not on their running back list but he is definitely going to be on his roster.
08:02So he's another person that takes away a roster spot for these guys that are competing at the running back position for the Cowboys.
08:07If you're looking at the veterans Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders and then Hunter Lipke a versatile player.
08:13Going deep downfield.
08:15Looking for a man out of bounds.
08:16Trashawn Holden.
08:17He's going to bring up fourth down.
08:21We talked about Jayden Blue earlier.
08:24Obviously doing a good job picking up the blitzer.
08:27Deuce Vaughn does a really good job again here.
08:29Same thing.
08:30Making sure that you have your eyes on the prize.
08:32Go out here.
08:33Boom.
08:34Big solid hit allows for Joe Milton to step up and have a chance at a big play.
08:38Obviously it's incomplete but without that block he doesn't have an opportunity to even get the ball down the field.
08:43He's most likely going to be picking himself up off the ground.
08:45Good job by Deuce Vaughn.
08:47The Lenovo Skycam.
08:49Smarter technology for all.
08:51Brian Anger on to punt for the second time.
08:58Short punt.
09:00It bounces back towards the Cowboys into the field.
09:04When Phil Motho will fall on it.
09:11Ah, yes.
09:13The Cowboys and the Falcons.
09:15One of my favorite playoff games of all time, Isaiah Stanback.
09:19Danny White's first year as a starting quarterback after Roger Staubach retired after the 1979 season.
09:27Come from behind.
09:29Couple of touchdown passes to Drew Pearson to beat the Falcons in the divisional playoff
09:35and move on to the NFC Championship game.
09:38What a game that was.
09:40Uncle Drew.
09:42That's what we call him around these parts, Bill.
09:44Everybody else calls him Drew Pearson.
09:46Some people call him Hut Hut.
09:48Some call him the original 88.
09:50The original 88.
09:51I call him Uncle Drew.
09:52After the play was over, personal foul.
09:53Unnecessary roughness from the 45 of the kicking team.
09:5615-yard penalty from the end of the play.
09:58First down Atlanta.
10:00Penalty against Rivaldo Fairweather.
10:02I was watching that play.
10:04Rivaldo Fairweather did a good job of really being physical with his guy.
10:10But that little extra when you're in a very competitive game and you really want to get your point across and you want to stand out.
10:16Sometimes you put your big toe over that line a little bit too much and you end up hurting your team 15 yards.
10:21That's not the way that you want to stand out.
10:25And it gives the Falcons field position inside Dallas into the field of the 38-yard line with 219 to play here in the first half.
10:39Running room on the left side for the Falcons this time.
10:42That's Nate Carter.
10:45The whole defensive line was just going the entirely wrong way on that particular play.
10:52Nate Carter.
10:54Rookie.
10:55This is the two-minute warning.
10:56Undrafted out of Michigan State.
10:59Two minutes to go here in the first half.
11:01Cowboys up by 11.
11:06Great view of tonight's game from the Lenovo Skycam.
11:14Smarter technology for all.
11:19Cowboys with a 14-3 lead as we play late in the first half.
11:24Two minutes to go, but the Falcons are threatening at the Dallas 30-yard line.
11:30Facing a second and two here.
11:33Defensive front, you've got Peyton Turner, James Houston at the defensive end positions.
11:37Perry and Winfrey and Mozzie Smith.
11:42They're going to try to run it.
11:47Mozzie's in on the tackle, but there is a flag down as the ball carrier is able to get the first down yardage.
11:57Holding.
11:58Number 75 offense.
12:00Ten-yard pony.
12:01Replay.
12:02Second nine.
12:03That's Brandon Parker.
12:04Two ball!
12:05Two ball!
12:06Two ball!
12:07Two ball!
12:08Two ball!
12:09Two ball!
12:10One of the Falcons have issues on their offensive line all of a sudden as they lose Caleb McGarry,
12:13their right tackle to an injury in practice this week.
12:16He's going to be out a little bit.
12:18That's one of the things for the Falcons last year, Raheem Morris' first year as the head coach.
12:23They went eight and nine.
12:24Their offensive line was healthy throughout the year last year.
12:26They got a veteran unit, a lot of former first-round draft picks, but that's a big loss for them,
12:31and they've got to figure out what they're going to do at right tackle.
12:34Empty backfield this time for Easton Stick.
12:48Thinks about running it.
12:49Now he will run it.
12:51Pick up some yardage.
12:54It'll be third and long.
12:57Easton Stick has some stick moves.
12:59He was showing off right there.
13:02First charge timeout, Dallas, 32nd timeout.
13:06Please reset the game clock to 1.45.
13:091.45.
13:12Stick started four games a couple of years ago for the Chargers.
13:18On Wednesday night at the Star, Cowboys legend Drew Pearson presented the Tom Landry Legends Award,
13:24sponsored by United Healthcare to Darren Woodson.
13:26Woodson, the Cowboys' all-time leading tackler, helped lead the team, of course, to three Super Bowl wins.
13:31inducted into the Cowboys' ring of honor in 2015.
13:35Continues to make an impact off the field through his work with the C5 Youth Foundation,
13:40which supports high-potential youths in Texas.
13:44It was great seeing Darren Woodson on Wednesday night at Ford Center at the Star in Frisco,
13:50and well-deserved honor given every year to an alumni member of the Cowboys who's done terrific work in the community.
14:03Complete to that guy, Nick Nash, for the first down.
14:07At this point, just double-team Nick Nash.
14:09That's where the ball is going.
14:11They give him a little bit too much space.
14:13Robert Rochelle gave him some space at the bottom of the screen.
14:16Buddy Johnson came in, tried to put a hit on him to separate him from the ball.
14:20But Nick Nash just continued to do what he did in college to make plays.
14:23Boy, the Falcons love former quarterbacks at the receiver position.
14:27Nick Nash, David Sills the fifth, who's not playing tonight.
14:30They're tied in.
14:31Felipe Franks, of course, was a college quarterback at Florida and Arkansas.
14:35On the 25, Stick in trouble, gets away.
14:42He gets positive yardage.
14:43Finally, Shamar James is able to bring him down.
14:48Good coverage by the Dallas Cowboys defense, forcing Easton Stick to really step up.
14:53They come out on an empty set.
14:54You guys are going to see him scan to his left, scan to his right.
14:56There's nothing there.
14:58Tyrus, we had an opportunity to bring him down, and then Stick starts using his stick moves.
15:02Use that spin move, but it better be careful.
15:04Second turn timeout, Dallas.
15:0630-second timeout.
15:07Please reset the game clock to one minute.
15:09One minute.
15:10Once you get outside of that pocket deal, you're fair game to all those linebackers.
15:17Bring up a second and eight for the Falcons.
15:20You're welcome.
15:21And AT&T, the official sponsor of the Dallas Cowboys.
15:25Connecting changes everything.
15:27Alan Eck, our referee tonight, by the way, he will be moving to the booth in the second half.
15:34In the second half of this game, the umpire will become the referee, I am told.
15:39Tab Slaughter, Alan Eck from Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
15:44Perhaps he has to get ready for the Little League World Series championship games this weekend.
15:49Easton Stick throwing for the end zone.
15:52Goes incomplete.
15:53Looking for Chris Blair.
15:55Atlanta Falcons just helped out the Dallas Cowboys there.
15:58We talked about time management earlier when the Cowboys had the possession last drive.
16:03You've seen them use two timeouts to try to keep this clock from ticking away and going into halftime.
16:10And now Atlanta follows up a timeout by Dallas by throwing an incomplete pass.
16:14The clock is now at 55 seconds.
16:17If Atlanta does not get a first down right here, they're going to be forced to kick a field goal.
16:20And Dallas will get the ball back with probably about 45 seconds left.
16:23So this is an opportunity for the Cowboys and the Falcons to work on their game management.
16:27Yep.
16:28Brian Schottenheimer, his first time as a head coach, working on his game management here.
16:35Wide open receivers, Felipe Franks down the sideline and diving into the end zone.
16:41That former college quarterback, Felipe Franks, puts the Falcons on the board and closes this gap to 14-9 with the extra point to come.
16:52I said 45 seconds, Bill.
16:54I didn't expect it to be a touchdown at 45 seconds.
16:57Somebody is accountable for this young man right here.
17:00We have three guys on the right side of the screen.
17:03Tyrus Wheat comes.
17:04Boom.
17:05Right there.
17:06Opportunity all day long for Felipe Franks.
17:10He'll take that gift even in the month of August.
17:13Please reset the game clock to 48 seconds.
17:1548 seconds.
17:18This is Franks' second stint with the Falcons.
17:20His first time out of college at Arkansas.
17:23He was a quarterback in the quarterback room.
17:25And now he is, after playing with Carolina as a tight end last year,
17:28has made the conversion to tight end in the NFL and showed his athleticism right there.

18:01Just a short walk away from AT&T Stadium right here in the Arlington Entertainment District.
18:07Just to the north of the Globe Light Field where the Rangers play.
18:12Choctaw Stadium where the Rangers used to play.
18:16Shout out to all of our armed forces.
18:18Appreciate your service.
18:20Yeah, go ahead and you deserve all the all the chips, all the popcorn.
18:26Eat all that up.
18:27I'm a snitch.
18:28Bill Jones already had his popcorn today.
18:30First thing I got.
18:32I'm telling.
18:37Well, it's free in the press boxes.
18:39Free 99.
18:40That's my favorite price.
18:44Cowboys have some time here.
18:4548 seconds left.
18:50Taking a knee in the end zone is Jayden Blue.
19:00Coming up at the half.
19:01Presented by Windstar.
19:02Rolling on the field.
19:03Kick receivers.
19:04Second foot.
19:05Landed on the goal line.
19:06Resulting on a touch back at the 20 yard line.
19:09All the minor details.
19:13Something for the rookie to learn right there.
19:16Instead of at the 35 yard line.
19:18Cowboys will start at the 20.
19:20We'll hear from Brian Schottenheimer at halftime, by the way, too.
19:23Get his thoughts on the first half.
19:26Dak coaching him up on the sideline.
19:28There's a lot of new rules to understand as a kick returner.
19:31There's a lot.
19:32It used to be a lot simpler back in my day, Bill.
19:34But now you have to be aware of where the ball is, the momentum of the ball,
19:37where it's going to land, where it could land.
19:42Under pressure is Milton eludes one man and will throw it away.
19:46Smart play.
19:47Smart play.
19:51Taking care of the football.
19:53Somehow that play only took three seconds off the clock.
19:55Not sure how that worked, but.
20:04Doesn't see exactly what coverage the Atlanta Falcons are going to come out in here.
20:08Dallas Cowboys come out in the two by two set.
20:11Looks like potential quarters coverage.
20:13But Atlanta Falcons.
20:15Little motion doesn't declare anything different.
20:17They state quarters.
20:20Firing over the middle in coverage there.
20:23Passes knocked away incomplete.
20:24Looking for Ryan Flannoy.
20:25And with 36 seconds left.
20:27And facing third down.
20:30Flag down in the backfield.
20:32Good read by Milton.
20:34Talked about how it's quarters coverage.
20:35That's where you go with the ball.
20:36Personal foul.
20:37Rocking the pass from the 48 defense.
20:3915-yard penalty.
20:40Automatic first down.
20:41Cowboys catch a break there from Braylon Trice.
20:44Well, that does not help your team, Mr. Trice.
20:49Come from the top of your screen.
20:54Oh, yeah.
20:55He just wanted to get a little action like Jackson.
20:57The ball was well released before he made contact.
21:00You would not expect that from a Washington Husky.
21:03Would you know what?
21:04Stand back.
21:05You know what?
21:06Washington Husky.
21:07I normally wouldn't snitch on my own guys, Bill.
21:08But he caught him on tape.
21:13First down and getting out of bounds is Jalen Brooks.
21:19Good heads up play.
21:21Good heads up player there.
21:23Protection.
21:24Pass.
21:25Location is able to get out of bounds.
21:28You've got to remember who your kicker is for the Dallas Cowboys, Brandon Aubrey.
21:31As long as you get across the 50-yard line, you're in field goal range.
21:34Might be in field goal range right now.
21:37On Brandon Aubrey's leg.
21:39Inbounds.
21:40Ryan Flannoy.
21:41With the 23 seconds left.
21:44Remember, Dallas used two of their timeouts on Atlanta's last drive to try to keep the clock at bay.
21:50Third and final timeout, Dallas.
21:5230-second timeout.
21:53Please reset the game clock for 25 seconds.
21:5525 seconds.
22:01Reliant.
22:02Proud to power the home of the Dallas Cowboys and the homes of Cowboys fans across Texas.
22:08Reliant.
22:09Official energy provider of the Dallas Cowboys.
22:12So with the ball at the 47-yard line and no timeouts.
22:16It's a test not only for Joe Milton but his receivers as well and the clock management.
22:22That's the fun stuff, Bill.
22:23This is when it gets good.
22:25Understanding as Atlanta Falcons, you don't want to allow guys to catch the ball and get out of bounds.
22:29So you're protecting the boundaries.
22:31What you're giving up is potential big plays in the middle of the field.
22:34Safeties are sitting a little bit low right now.
22:36Can the Cowboys get behind them?
22:37You know if they catch the ball in bounds, they have to get up and spike the ball.
22:42Treshawn Holden had the ball put right on them by Joe Milton.
22:45Little dropsies right there.
22:47You like to see him come up with that.
22:48The only good news is no turnover and the clock stops.
22:54Holden took a big hit.
23:04Three by one set here for the Dallas Cowboys.
23:06This really cleans things up for Joe Milton.
23:08Looks like they just want to get in field goal range at this point.
23:11Not much there.
23:12They're in field goal range because it would be about a 64 yarder.
23:16Great chance.
23:17Brandon Aubrey from here is eight seconds, seven seconds.
23:22Run it down to three seconds and spike the ball.
23:24Might have had a.
23:25Ball size.
23:26No, no flag.
23:31There's a conversation going on.
23:33Aubrey.
23:37They call him Money Aubrey around here for a reason, Bill.
23:40Even though you know what he's capable of doing in the regular season,
23:44he hasn't had an opportunity to kick many long ones in this preseason.
23:48So this is really his practice run.
23:51Now, understand this.
23:52He is kicking this ball from the 54-yard line.
23:57The opposing 54-yard line.
24:00Or otherwise known as the 46-yard line.
24:03Yeah.
24:04Yeah.
24:0564 yards with Brian Anger holding.
24:13And right down the middle.
24:1664 yards from Brandon Aubrey.
24:22His long in his career, 65.
24:24This is the end of the first round.
24:26What a weapon.
24:27Brandon Aubrey.
24:28Yes.
24:29The pride of Plano Senior High School is the Pro Bowl kicker for the Cowboys.
24:33No problem.
24:35Good from how far?
24:3754-46 equals 64.
24:40It don't matter either way.
24:42It's money.
24:44How about that?
24:45The Cowboys add to the lead.
24:4717-10 here at the half.
24:50A reminder, we'll hear from Brian Schottenheimer when the halftime is over.
24:55The Cowboys come back out on the field.
24:57Halftime presented by Windstar.
24:59He's coming up next from AT&T Stadium in Arlington with the Cowboys leading at the half.
25:10Game in the passing game as well.
25:12What do you want to see differently though in the second half after that last Falcons drive?
25:16About 45 seconds you allowed on the score.
25:18Yeah, just to not make stupid mistakes.
25:20You know, obviously a couple penalties, interceptions, take our helmet off.
25:23Tack a little bit better, but we're playing good, playing hard.
25:25What do you like about Joe Milton?
25:26He's obviously running this offense a lot better than you've seen in weeks prior.
25:30What do you like from him so far?
25:31Doing a great job moving the team, using his legs, and hopefully has a great second half.
25:35Thank you so much, Coach.
25:36All right, thanks to Coach Schottenheimer, who's got to call plays here in just a second
25:40because the Cowboys are receiving the kick here to start the second half.
25:49I love that.
25:50He does the – you could tell there was a sense of urgency from the coach.
25:54Okay, I got to get this headset back on.
25:57Great job by Nicole Hudson grabbing the head coach slash play caller for the Dallas Cowboys
26:03as they're returning the kickoff, which means he – to your point, Bill, he's trying to do the interview,
26:08be respectful, but hurry up and get to go call the play so they know what the heck they're doing.
26:12That's exactly right.
26:14And Deuce Vaughn, the Cowboys will take the ball at the 35-yard line.
26:19And let's ask our coach here in the booth, Isaiah Stanback, what do you like out of Joe Milton and the Cowboys offense?
26:25Well, it's a balanced offense today, Bill.
26:27For the first time in the preseason, we've seen the run game be effective.
26:30It didn't matter if it was Deuce Vaughn in the back, Bill.
26:32It didn't matter if it was Jaden Blue.
26:33The offensive line has created some holes.
26:35The running backs have showed a lot of great patience and vision by pressing the holes
26:39and using their cutbacks as opportunities to make big splash plays.
26:42And then, obviously, Joe Milton has done a good job of just delivering the ball accurately
26:47and making smart decisions by throwing the ball away when nothing is present.
26:52Jaden Blue at running back here.
27:00And the pass goes in complete looking for Jalen Brooks on the outside there.
27:04Halftime stats are brought to you by Miller Lite, the only beer of the Cowboys.
27:11These stats, Isaiah, are much better than the preseason games one and two
27:15from the Cowboy perspective.
27:17Very much so.
27:18You talk about the ability to keep the ball on the ground.
27:21That affects time of possession.
27:22And when you affect time of possession in a positive way,
27:25you really can control the flow of the game.
27:27And that's what the Dallas Cowboys have been able to do today.
27:30Second and ten.
27:32Toss left.
27:34And Jaden Blue gets up to the 39-yard line.
27:38Pickup of four yards.
27:41Blue had five carries for 12 yards in the first half of this game.
27:45Did have a touchdown.
27:50It's been Blue and Deuce Vaughn at running back.
27:53Vaughn in the first half.
27:54Ten carries for 42 yards.
27:56Yeah, Deuce Vaughn had a really good first half.
27:59Jaden Blue did as well.
28:00There are some guys who had missed some blocks,
28:02which made it a little bit more difficult for Blue to show off.
28:05But he did a good job of picking up some blocks in the passing game,
28:07which obviously will elevate his opportunity to make this final roster.
28:11So here's a third and sixth opportunity for Milton.
28:14Steps up.
28:16Motioning downfield.
28:18And it's close to the first down marker, but he is marked shy of it by a yard.
28:23Good job getting out the pocket.
28:28But this is probably about the third or fourth time now, Bill,
28:31we've seen in the preseason where he is paying more attention to the defender
28:35versus the yard marker.
28:37I'd like to see his awareness get a little bit broader,
28:39work on his proprioception, which means his awareness in space,
28:42so that he can go out there and the priority being getting the first down
28:45versus the defender that's trying to hit him.
28:47And in this case, you know that the marker's right at the 45-yard line
28:52because starting the half, you're starting at the 35.
28:57He's going to run it this time.
28:58He's going to get the first down on the long read and down the sideline.
29:03We're stepping out of bounds.
29:05You know who that was out in front, Bill?
29:07That was my man, the bull, Princeton Flint.
29:12Really good job.
29:13He's actually right here.
29:14He's going to come across the formation and watch what he does.
29:16Lead, lead, lead, lead, lead.
29:18Yacomundo.
29:20Throws him on the ground.
29:22Not what you want.
29:24That's right.
29:25Show the big man some love.
29:26He had some Tennessee love there.
29:28Yeah, absolutely.
29:29From Tennessee.
29:30I like it.
29:31Milton from Tennessee.
29:32By the way, one touchdown run by Joe Milton in college at Tennessee
29:35against UTSA.
29:36He went 81 yards for a touchdown.
29:39From the 38.
29:44Power ball, Treshawn Holden with some powerful hands.
29:50Power sideline.
29:51That is such a difficult throw.
29:53Such a difficult throw.
29:55Joe Milton runs the play action, comes out of it, okay?
29:58You guys are going to see him here.
29:59Boom, turns his back, comes back around, right?
30:02Once he comes back around, he buys time.
30:04He's throwing his ball 40 yards on a rope.
30:06That is a rope.
30:07Treshawn Holden does a good job of presenting himself on the sideline,
30:10staying relevant, staying in bounds,
30:12keeping his shoulders squared up to Joe Milton.
30:14And Joe Milton has the opportunity to utilize his assets
30:16as that cannon of an arm to drive the ball between the numbers.
30:19Now going for the end zone to Jalen Brooks,
30:23who got some last-second separation, and he's got a touchdown.
30:27And Joe Milton put air under the ball, Bill.
30:38The improvement we are seeing from week to week out of Joe Milton on these type of balls is amazing.
30:44Great job by Brooks for fighting through it, fighting through the contact.
30:48But watch this ball.
30:50He is cognizant of how he's releasing this ball.
30:53He puts some air underneath it.
30:55And last week and the weeks prior to,
30:57that would have been a straight-line rope like the pass prior to the Treshawn holding on the sideline.
31:01That time he puts a little air on it.
31:03And yeah, you could do your dance like that whenever you throw a perfect ball like that.
31:07Good job, Joe Milton.
31:09Jalen Brooks beating Kobe Bryant,
31:12the defender for the Falcons for the touchdown.
31:22Handshakes all around on the Cowboys' sideline
31:24as the seventh-round draft pick last year out of South Carolina has the touchdown.
31:29Joe Milton up top to make it 24-10 here early in the third quarter.
31:36With the kiss!
31:42The forward scoring drive for the Cowboys to start this second half.
31:5665 yards in six plays.
31:59Joe Milton to Jalen Brooks for the final 29 yards for the touchdown.
32:04As the Cowboys extend their lead to 24-10 over the Atlanta Falcons.
32:10It's great to see the week-by-week development and progress with Joe Milton.
32:18Areas that he's had mistakes earlier in the preseason, he's not having those reoccurring issues.
32:24He's addressing them. That's what these coaches want to see.
32:26They're not looking for perfection. They just want to see progress.
32:29Tyler Neville covering the kick. Jesse Matthews on the return.
32:32A lot of flags out there, Bill. A lot of flags.
32:37Six flags is just down the road.
32:41Six of them on the field here.
32:43By the way, we've got the new referee, Tab Slaughter, wearing the white hat now.
32:53The umpire goes over to referee while Alan Eck takes the second half off.
33:01Big guy there, Tab Slaughter.
33:03Illegal formation, kicking team number 38.
33:05That foul being forced from the end of the run.
33:07First down.
33:08Looked like Sergeant Slaughter.
33:10That's right. He's played center at Arkansas State, by the way.
33:14He lives in McKinney, so it's a local product.
33:17Alan Eck, by the way, from Atlanta.
33:19And so the Falcons had the referee in the first half.
33:22Dallas gets the referee in the second half.

33:36Perrion Winfrey got a little physical too early.
33:45Approach, number 99, defense.
33:47It's a five-yard penalty.
33:48Still first down.
33:50Perrion Winfrey.
33:53And Jalen Brooks, we just talked about a victory dance.
33:56There's his victory dance.
33:58Hey.
33:59What did that?
34:00Whoop-da!
34:02Kicking the door.
34:03I'm not mad at you.
34:04Did you see that balance, Bill?
34:06I was.
34:07Oh, that was nice.
34:08I love seeing Jalen Brooks get his pay dirt, man.
34:10He's somebody who's had a really good training camp the last few years for the Dallas Cowboys.
34:13And oftentimes you have a great training camp, but you don't have the opportunity to prove
34:17what you've been doing all training camp in the actual preseason game.
34:20So to see him get his payoff is huge.
34:23Jashon Corbin on the carry there.
34:27And let's go down the sideline, Nicole Hutchison.
34:29Nicole.
34:30Well, guys, I'm joined by the speedster himself with the diamonds dancing.
34:34You gotta love it.
34:35Come on, Tate Turpin.
34:36Year four for you.
34:38You know, initially you were used as just a jet sweep weapon, but now they're starting to utilize you a lot more in this offense.
34:45How much have you kind of embraced this opportunity about the potential that you have in terms of reps in this offense?
34:52I always tell them, man, since my three years since I've been here, man, I've been trying to tell them, man, I'm more than a gadget guy, man.
34:58I'm a true receiver, man.
34:59So I feel like that's what I came in this offseason to showing them, you know, and now they're trying to give me more plays to be out there.
35:05What's been the difference for you from year three now heading into year four?
35:09I'll just say, man, I grew up to a leader, bro, trying to trying to get these rookies, you know, tell them, man, they perform for 32 teams.
35:16They're trying to be a leader, man.
35:17Just tell them, you know, just go out there and just play free and just be you, man.
35:20That's what I changed in my leadership.
35:22There's CD now.
35:23You've got George Pickens, the addition, hoping that Jake Ferguson, you know, elevates and gets back to 2023 ways.
35:30How would you describe the potential that this offense has this year?
35:33Man, we're going to be the best offense in the NFL, man.
35:36And we're clicking on our centers, man.
35:38It's going to be hard to stop us, man.
35:39Just like, you know, with CD, George Pickens, like the Mario Bros.
35:42And you add me, I'm Yoshi, you feel me?
35:44So, yeah, that's how it goes.
35:45So we're going to go out there, you know, just try everybody to be healthy.
35:47We just got to go out there and try to make plays.
35:49Thank you so much, Kabonte.
35:50Best of luck to you this season.
35:52Guys, back to you.
35:53Uh-oh.
35:54Everybody wants to be Yoshi.
35:56You know what?
35:58I've got grandkids now.
35:59Uh-oh.
36:00So I know what he's talking about.
36:01Mario Bros.
36:02And we race.
36:03Yoshi wins every race, too.
36:05That's right.
36:06We set up the races and the Hot Wheels or whatever in the house,
36:10and Yoshi always wins.
36:12Let me find out you're playing Mario Kart, Bill.
36:14Let me find out.
36:16Oh, I love it.
36:18You know, and Kabonte Turpin talks as fast as he runs, too.
36:22Yep, buddy.
36:23Oh, and trouble is Easton Stick, and down he goes.
36:28Who is down under that pile.
36:29It's Perrion Winfrey.
36:31James Houston came from one side.
36:35Perrion Winfrey came from another side.
36:37Easton Stick, there was nowhere to go.
36:39Pressure from here.
36:40Pressure from here.
36:41Nowhere to go whatsoever.
36:43Really good job of what we call collapsing the pocket.
36:46You're trying to restrict the passing lanes.
36:48You're trying to restrict the running lanes.
36:49You see Stick work from his left.
36:51James Houston's over there.
36:52Tried to work to his white right.
36:53Works right into the defensive side.
36:56Pressure from Perrion Winfrey.
36:57That is good team defensive line pressure.
37:00Perrion Winfrey, 6'4", 290 pounds out of Oklahoma.
37:04Played in the United Football League, the Spring League,
37:07for the Birmingham Stallions this year.
37:12Hunt will go into the end zone,
37:14and he played for Aaron Whitecotton with the Jets a couple of years ago.
37:17The Cowboys' new defensive line coach.
37:21The Cowboys will take over on offense when we come to AT&T Stadium.
37:25They're fired up on the sideline for Perrion.
37:36This game is brought to you by United Ag & Turf,
37:40the official Ag & Turf equipment supplier of the Dallas Cowboys.
37:47New quarterback in the game for the Cowboys.
37:49Joe Milton's night is done, it appears, as Will Greer is in the game.
37:53Trishon Holden going in motion there from the 20-yard line.
38:00And the give.
38:01Jayden Blue up near the 25-yard line.
38:08Will Greer getting in the game earlier than he did
38:10in the first couple of preseason games.
38:12So that's why his stats are not very bountiful there.
38:19He's two for three in the preseason.
38:22Two years ago he was 29 out of 35 in the third and final preseason.
38:27Again, here you see the Milton numbers.
38:2910 out of 18 for 132 yards and had the touchdown on his final play.
38:34Also carried four times for 33 yards.
38:44Blue again dances forward to the 27-yard line.
38:49You're talking about Will Greer's inability to get a lot of opportunities
38:52in this year's preseason games.
38:54It's because this coaching staff is familiar with him.
38:56Coach Schottenheimer is very familiar with Will Greer.
38:58He spent some time here obviously over the past few years.
39:01They know exactly what he's capable of doing.
39:03Not necessarily a question mark on whether or not he can perform.
39:08You needed to know what you had in Joe Milton.
39:10This is the guy that you traded for that you have on your depth chart at number two.
39:14Is he capable of being your number two?
39:16Or do you need to move Will Greer up the depth chart?
39:19I think they have their answer now to Joe Milton.
39:21So now you want to ensure that you have a reason to keep Will Greer on his roster as your number three.
39:26And blue for a couple of 29.
39:27Very similar to what they did last year when Trey Lance was the third quarterback on the team.
39:33And he got virtually all the snaps in the preseason.
39:36In fact, Cooper Rush only had six pass attempts in the preseason last year.
39:41The difference being Trey Lance was at least with the team the previous year in 2023.
39:51So they knew a little bit about him.
39:53But Joe Milton arriving this spring.
39:55Now they know more about him.
39:57And it's going to be interesting going forward.
40:00The decision on who Dak Prescott's backup is.
40:05D offered on a return.
40:07Darius Harris.
40:08The 20-yard line.
40:09Darius Harris.
40:10The veteran special teamer with how many Super Bowl rings?
40:13Three of them things.
40:14That's right.
40:15He played for the Kansas City Chiefs.
40:17You get three rings there.
40:24It's game day raising.
40:26Time to recognize tonight's Bank of America defensive player.
40:32Tonight's player former first-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers.
40:36The Coppell Cowboys.
40:38Solomon Thomas.
40:39Thomas signed a contract in the offseason.
40:42Former New York Jet.
40:43Bank of America.
40:44The official bank of the Dallas Cowboys.
40:46Solomon Thomas not played in the preseason.
40:49Neither has Osa Odegazua.
40:51Those are the sure things amongst the defensive tackles on this team.
40:56Coming into tonight's game and headed into the season.
41:00All the other D tackles are playing tonight.
41:04Easton stick on first down from the 20 for the Falcons.
41:08And it's no gain on the play.
41:10It is.
41:11It was Mike Smith this time.
41:13That was Mike Smith.
41:14And it looked like 38 Elijah Clark.
41:16But it's Mike Smith instead.
41:18Similar, not the same.
41:19They both actually played relatively similar.
41:20Yeah.
41:21Both of those guys are instinctive.
41:23Look at these defensive tackles here.
41:27Yeah, as you mentioned, Osa Odegazua, Solomon Thomas.
41:30Those are your guys.
41:31But the thing is about the NFL, you have to rotate other guys in.
41:34So the question is, who are going to be those other three techniques?
41:38If you decide to go to a 3-4 scheme, who's your one technique?
41:41Do you have a true one technique?
41:43It's all questions that the front office is going to have to answer over the next week or so.
41:47Over the middle, it's complete.
41:49All the way up to the 40-yard line to Chris Blair for a pickup of 20.
41:55Yeah, Mozzie Smith started 17 games last year.
41:58If you put it, the one technique.
42:01Others call it a nose tackle in the old days.
42:08Solomon Thomas more of a three technique, and he's a versatile guy who could use in a rotation as well.
42:17But if you were setting the depth chart right now, those two are right at the top.
42:20Osa Odegazua and Solomon Thomas.
42:22Yeah, they're really the same type of player.
42:24Osa and Solomon, both of those guys are big guys that are true three techniques.
42:30That are powerful, strong, long arm guys that can get upfield in the passing game or the running game.
42:37But not guys that you necessarily want to put in a one technique position.
42:40They'll do it if asked upon, but it's not your true one technique type of guys.
42:45You know, really, when you look at the sack rate for Solomon Thomas in terms of sacks per snaps in the last few years when he was with the Jets, it's very similar to what the sack rate for Osa Odegazua is.
43:02Not as many snaps as Osa has gotten with the Cowboys.
43:07Darius Harris reading that bootleg there, staying upfield, upfield shoulder to quarterback, not losing containment.
43:15Closed captioning is brought to you by the Texas Lottery, making this Cowboys preseason football telecast accessible to everyone, regardless of hearing abilities.
43:29It's Michael Osa Moutier.
43:33Just arrived this past week.
43:3642 at cornerback.
43:39Cowboys with depth issues at the cornerback position with all the injuries that we've talked about throughout the preseason and the man coverage here.
43:49And there's a first down for the Falcons.
43:52And that's Jesse Matthews.
43:54Too easy.
43:55That's pitch and catch right there.
43:57All day long.
43:58Ace and sticks all that pre-snap.
44:00Talk about how we saw single high safety.
44:02Look at the space here.
44:04Way too much space for a third and short situation.
44:07Can't give on that.
44:08You got to be able to work downhill.
44:09That's give and take all day long.
44:11Jesse Matthews out of San Diego State.
44:13The receiver with that reception and a couple of years ago he was the Frisco Bowl MVP for San Diego State.
44:22He likes playing in North Texas, apparently.
44:28Easton stick on the run and slides for another first down.
44:33Good job by Easton stick working in the pocket.
44:37Really has a good sense of awareness in the pocket and able to make very decisive decisions in terms of being across the line of scrimmage or not.
44:46You know, it's interesting situation for Easton stick.
44:49He's played well this preseason for the Falcons and looks like he will stick on this roster as a third quarterback.
44:56And it's interesting because you got the Kirk Cousins situation.
44:59And if quarterbacks go down around the league, Kirk Cousins could be a guy that they would deal away.
45:05And Easton stick could be elevated to a second quarterback behind Michael Penix, who is the starter.
45:12Just made three starts as a rookie last year out of New School of Washington.
45:17The dub.
45:19No, it makes sense as to why Easton sticks getting this much tick in the preseason.
45:23They need to know do they have a true number two on their hands.
45:28Brought to you by Farmer's Dog.
45:30Fresh real food delivered to your door tailored for your dog.
45:34The official dog food partner of the Dallas Cowboys.
45:43You could see Ben DiNucci for the Falcons tonight.
45:47He was just signed this past week, former Cowboys seventh round draft pick.
45:51On the right side.
46:00The run defense is there.
46:01Easton stick, by the way, at North Dakota State.
46:05A forty nine and three record as a starting quarterback.
46:13It's pretty good, Bill.
46:15Not bad at all.
46:16In fact, he was matched up in the FCS playoffs against Ben.
46:2014 federal court.
46:21And they were in the Bucs.
46:22And they had been out in San Diegoハ الجund's position to the
46:24digits...
46:25it's pretty good.
46:26walk, big points.
46:27They were twoers.
46:29The story was rainbowbed since the suné line was formed.
