00:00Friday night lights in Arlington, Texas at AT&T Stadium
00:08as the Dallas Cowboys take the field for preseason game number three
00:13against the Atlanta Falcons.
00:15Bill Jones along with Isaiah Stanback.
00:18Happy that you could join us as we look forward to the regular season.
00:21Now 13 days away when the Cowboys head to Philadelphia
00:25to take on the defending Super Bowl champions.
00:28And on this Friday night, roaming the sidelines for us tonight,
00:33we've got Nicole Hutchison.
00:34Hello, Nicole.
00:35Hello, guys.
00:36I've got an update on that running back rotation.
00:39I've been told by VP of player personnel, Will McClay,
00:42that Deuce Vaughn will get the start.
00:44Rookie Phil Moffle will get some opportunities as well,
00:46but it'll all be about Jaden Blue.
00:49The fifth-round rookie will finally make his debut tonight against the Falcons.
00:53Now I got a chance to catch up with him in pregame.
00:55He said, hey, this is the moment I've been waiting for.
00:58I had all the momentum, climbing at the top of that running back rotation,
01:02you know, showing that sleeve, that explosiveness, that vision,
01:05ability to catch behind the backfield, out of the backfield.
01:08I mean, he also told me that, listen, it's been fun watching from the sidelines,
01:13you know, even though I was out with injury for two weeks.
01:15But this is all about competition.
01:18I came here to take somebody's job, and he's eyeing that 53-man roster tonight, guys.
01:23All right, Nicole, we look forward to hearing from you throughout this game.
01:27Some interviews with some of the Cowboys players who aren't playing in tonight's game.
01:32Deshaun Corbin is one of the deep men for the Falcons,
01:37as Brandon Aubrey has it teed up.
01:38Brian Schottenheimer, third and final preseason game as the head coach of the Cowboys
01:43and looking forward to Philadelphia here in a couple of weeks.
01:47And the kick taken by Corbin at the five-yard line and brought down at the 26, Jaden Blue.
01:54How about that?
01:55Jaden Blue covering kicks, and he's going to be playing some at running back tonight.
02:00Miller Lite starting lineups on defense for the Cowboys.
02:03Brought to you by Miller Lite, the only beer of the Cowboys.
02:05It's Miller time, Mozzie Smith getting the start once again at defensive tackle
02:11alongside Perry and Winfrey.
02:12Peyton Turner also up front.
02:15Keep an eye on Shamar James, number 50 as well, the rookie fifth-round draft pick.
02:21And you see in the secondary Israel Mukwamu,
02:23who has four interceptions in his career in the preseason, including one this year.
02:29Easton Stick is the quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons starting at the 26-yard line.
02:34And the give is to Corbin, and he gets a couple up to the 28-yard line.
02:39It's going to be interesting, Isaiah, to see who comes through both on offense and defense
02:46for the Cowboys tonight in their last of their job interview.
02:50And it's a big job interview as well, Bill.
02:52You talk about the opportunity to go out here and show what you're capable of doing
02:56in terms of making this 53-man roster.
02:58But the reality is you're putting out whatever good take you can for the other remaining 31 teams.
03:04We're obviously seeing the Dallas Cowboys' defense started out right now.
03:07They gave up 180 yards in week one on the ground.
03:10They gave up 140 last week.
03:11Now you want to see exactly what they can prevent the Atlanta Falcons from having today.
03:16Corbin, that's a call.
03:17Ruled an incomplete pass.
03:19It's like he had it.
03:20It's an incomplete pass.
03:21Had it for a moment but dropped it, and immediately the official calls it an incomplete pass.
03:29Not much on that play.
03:30Trying to get the ball out on a little flat route.
03:33Good job by Troy Prye.
03:34A little outside in.
03:35Shamar James coming from the inside.
03:37This year's linebacker draft pick for the Dallas Cowboys.
03:40One thing you're going to see early on before these guys get a little bit gas, Bill,
03:43is that these guys are going to be flying around with high energy and high effort.
03:47Second half might be a little different because there's not a lot of substitutes out there for you today.
03:50That's right.
03:51These guys are going to be playing a lot tonight.
03:54And as both teams rest a lot of starters.
03:58Stick on third down as a man complete for the first down up to the 38-yard line.
04:05And that's McNash on the receiving end for the Falcons.
04:08The one guy who started 17 games for the Cowboys last year is getting the start inside.
04:19Number 58, Mozzie Smith, the first-round draft pick from a couple of years ago.
04:23He has a lot to prove, Bill.
04:26You talk about a first-rounder in his third year playing in the third preseason game,
04:32which is now the last preseason game.
04:34It lets you know exactly where they stand with him.
04:37He has to prove that he can make an impact on the game and not just be another player.
04:40Hiring deep over the middle.
04:42Complete to Nick Nash inside the 40-yard line.
04:45And the Falcons are in business in the Cowboys' end of the field.
04:49Nash is getting loose already.
04:51See, they have an opportunity to sit back here in the pocket.
04:53Easton Stick just comes off the play action.
04:55Nice little boot.
04:56Great pocket.
04:57He's able to sit up there and drive the curl route in the middle.
04:59Like to see some pressure get to the quarterback.
05:02Otherwise, you'll be able to throw that route on air all day long.
05:04A pickup of 24 yards to Nash out of San Jose State.
05:10He had a huge year last year in college.
05:14Four-man rush.
05:16And in trouble is Stick, and he is brought down.
05:20And it is that man who has shined many times during this preseason for the Cowboys.
05:26Coming off the edge, it's James Houston.
05:29Mr. James Houston going to be over here on the left side of your screen.
05:31He's working in tandem over here with Tyrus Wheat.
05:34You're going to see Wheat come up the field, forced Easton Stick up into the pocket.
05:38James Houston comes underneath, does a good job of getting in there and making a big play.
05:42Not bad on the first drive, but preseason game number three to make sure that you pop off the film.
05:47It's the second sack of the preseason for the Dallas defense.
05:50And James Houston, who in his rookie year with the Lions a few years ago, had eight sacks.
05:58Over the middle.
05:59Pass is complete down to the 33-yard line.
06:02That goes to Chris Blair.
06:05That was a really good ball by Easton Stick right there to Blair.
06:09One of those plays that doesn't really look like much coming in the middle of a zone,
06:13but he back-shouldered him to prevent him from going into the linebacker.
06:16Those are really high-accuracy plays that a lot of these coaches are going to be looking for
06:20from these quarterbacks in these preseason games.
06:23Of course, Easton Stick, the number three man on the depth chart for the Falcons,
06:26behind Michael Pinnock's and Kirk Cousins from the 33-yard line.
06:36Going deep down the left side, and the pass is knocked away.
06:41Coming over, Kimon Hall.
06:43He's in a battle for that nickel cornerback, the slot cornerback position,
06:47and Kimon Hall comes through there.
06:49Another great opportunity for Kimon Hall, but again, let's talk about the man.
06:53Mr. James Houston right here does a good job of forcing pressure.
06:56He gets into the shoulder of that tackle, drives back into the quarterback.
06:59Really doesn't allow a lot of space for Easton Stick to step up and deliver a ball.
07:03Almost forced a turnover just by pressure alone.
07:06Kimon Hall would have loved to have the opportunity to come up with that one again.
07:09Would have made it back-to-back games for interceptions for him.
07:11Young-Ho Koo is on, former pro bowler back in 2020 for the Falcons.
07:17And from 51 yards away, no good.
07:24So Brian Schottenheimer's offense will take over here early in the first quarter.
07:31Israel Mukwamu with some words for the Falcons.
07:36Mukwamu is known to have some words for some opponents through the years.
07:41Talk smack like you, Bill.
07:47Joe Milton with a smile on his face, ready to take the field here.
07:52Everybody has a smile on their face before they take a snap, Bill.
07:55He got a shiny smile, too.
07:56Does he have those diamonds in his mouth like you have?
07:59That's right.
08:00All right, we're going to take a timeout here,
08:02and Joe Milton and the Cowboys offense take the field
08:05when we come back to AT&T Stadium.
08:11All eyes on Joe Milton, Cowboys offense here.
08:22Look at his numbers this preseason.
08:2426 out of 47 for 265 yards.
08:29A touchdown and a couple of interceptions.
08:31Taking over at the 41-yard line.
08:35And Deuce Vaughn gets the carry up the middle behind a makeshift offensive line.
08:39Picks up three yards out to the 44-yard line.
08:42Let's take a look at who's up front.
08:44The rest of the Miller Lite starting lineup for the Cowboys on offense.
08:48Brought to you by Miller Lite, the only beer of the Cowboys.
08:51It's Miller time.
08:52The receivers to start this one are Jalen Cropper and Ryan Flannoy.
08:56Princeton Fent gets the start at tight end tonight.
08:59Jalen Brooks also at receiver.
09:01Deuce Vaughn starting, but you will see Jaden Blue,
09:05the fifth-round draft pick out of Texas tonight for the first time this preseason.
09:09Second down, there's Vaughn again.
09:11Not much running room out to the 45-yard line.
09:17Deuce was trying to get loose on that one, Bill.
09:19One of those guys, he's like the magic man.
09:21Now you see me, now you don't.
09:22He's a smaller guy, about 5'6".
09:25Did you see him at first?
09:26No, I don't even think you see him at first.
09:28He just pops out and shows something.
09:30Deuce Vaughn hides behind those big offensive linemen.
09:33He's quick, he's agile, he's powerful.
09:35He has low center of gravity, great balance.
09:37He just needs more opportunities.
09:39And he's gotten it in the past couple of years in the third preseason game.
09:43He's had big nights.
09:44We'll see if that holds true again tonight.
09:46Milton looking to throw.
09:47Now he's going to run it.
09:47And Milton's got the first down inside the Falcons' end of the field.
09:51And Brian Schottenheimer on countdown to kickoff tonight.
09:54Talked about the fact that Joe Milton needs to use his legs more.
09:59Yeah, Joe Milton uses his legs.
10:00Well, we just finished talking about Deuce Vaughn.
10:02Look what he does here.
10:03Talk about being one of the smaller backs.
10:04Steps up and takes a good block on the linebacker that was coming through.
10:07Joe Milton then is able to utilize his assets, which is obviously his size and his speed.
10:11But way, way to go for Deuce Vaughn.
10:14Five, six, hundred and what, 80 pounds maybe?
10:16Sitting up there and taking a big hit by the linebacker to protect his QB.
10:20Pick up of nine yards.
10:21Now here's Vaughn to the outside.
10:23Deuce near the first down marker.
10:26Nice pickup by Deuce Vaughn on his third carry of the night.
10:30See what happens.
10:31You take care of your QB.
10:32They come back and they reward you.
10:34Does a good job of setting up his blocks.
10:35You guys are going to see him press it to the outside.
10:37And then he puts the skiskirts on going up here, cut up inside,
10:40is able to make a couple guys look like they're silly.
10:44Does a man.
10:45I'm telling you, that dude is somebody that you want on your roster,
10:48whether it's the Dallas Cowboys or whether it's another team.
10:51We've seen what smaller backs have done in this league when utilized correctly.
10:56Got nine yards, second and one.
10:59And wide open is Jalen Cropper for the first down.
11:02And that's what I would like to see out of my guy, Joe Milner.
11:07Sit in the pocket, get to the base of your drop,
11:10find out what the coverage is, and then drive the ball.
11:13Everybody knows that you can run.
11:14Everybody knows that you have a powerful arm.
11:17Utilize the system and let the system work for you.
11:19You don't have to make no crazy plays.
11:22When it's time to make a play, that time will present itself.
11:24Outside of that, play within the confines of the system.
11:27Second first down of this opening possession for the Cowboys at the Falcons 26.
11:32And with time, throws deep over the middle and goes incomplete back to the end zone,
11:38looking for Ryan Flannoy.
11:41Just when I give him a great compliment, this is the one play that I would like to see him make.
11:46And the reason why is because the ball's released too late.
11:49At times, when you have a very powerful arm, you sit on plays longer than you should.
11:52That ball should have been released as soon as the receiver got on the toes of the safety.
11:56He waited for the double move to occur, and then he released the ball.
12:00Their safety had already turned his back, started running with the receiver,
12:03and the ball was late, which means you have less runway to the back of the end zone.
12:08That play has to be released early, and if so,
12:09you give your receiver a better opportunity to make it a play.
12:13They're going to blow this one dead as Falcon comes across early.
12:16neutral zone infraction, number 92 defense, five-yard penalty, second down.
12:29But it's one of the more difficult things, speaking about Milton, Bill,
12:33from somebody who used to have a relatively strong arm,
12:35I could throw the ball 80 yards, Joe Milton would throw it 90-plus.
12:37Okay, so trust me, there's an understanding of your capabilities,
12:42and sometimes it's so difficult to not rest assured on your abilities.
12:47You have to trust the system.
12:48This game at quarterback and passing in the league is a game of timing.
12:51You have to trust that timing.
12:53Second and five, running room for Deuce Vaughn.
12:55Inside the 10-yard line, another nice pickup for Vaughn.
13:01Deuce!
13:01You're going to hear it on the background there.
13:03You hear the fans.
13:04I want you guys to see how he presses the pocket.
13:06He does a good job of pressing, pressing, pressing, and then he makes his cut.
13:09He presses up, and what happens is the linebackers have to stay true
13:13to both lane assignments.
13:15They can't pick and choose, and when he makes his decision,
13:18he's so elusive, he's explosive, he's going to get right past those guys.
13:23And there is a Falcon injured on the play.
13:25We're back in just a moment.
13:30...analogy for all.
13:32Cowboys inside the 10-yard line down at the 9.
13:35Deuce Vaughn with 25 yards on four carries so far.
13:39And it's Vaughn again to the outside.
13:41Has room trying to get to that goal line, and he's close.
13:47You want to talk about speed, elusiveness, explosion.
13:52Look at what this man does.
13:54Comes across the formation, outflanks two defensive backs.
13:58Does a good job of getting outside one.
14:00That's two, and then everybody else who wants to smoke, you can get some two.
14:02And Joe Milton can run, too.
14:05Goes the other way on the play fake, and Joe Milton easy into the end zone.
14:10Is it backflip time, do you think?
14:12Will he do a backflip?
14:13I don't think he's doing it in the preseason.
14:14Only training camp, Bill.
14:16He did it at practice the other night.
14:18Only a training camp practices.
14:20He's going to save those for the real game.
14:22But Joe Milton right here, you're going to see it.
14:23This is just too easy, okay?
14:25Right here in the middle of your screen.
14:26Play action.
14:27Somebody has to have containment.
14:29Somebody has to have the quarterback.
14:30You see Jalen Brooks in the back of the end zone, but it doesn't matter.
14:33Whenever you come out of there and you have the ability to run the rock like that,
14:36you take the easy points.
14:38And it shows some coachability on the part of Joe Milton.
14:41Brian Schottenheimer said he needs to run the ball more,
14:44and that was some easy pickings right there.
14:46Brandon Aubrey on for the extra point.
14:47And for the first time this preseason, the Cowboys are on the board first.
14:537-0 midway through the first quarter.
14:56They did it on the ground, and it was Joe Milton finding the end zone.
15:00The Ford scoring drive.
15:14Ford is the best in Texas.
15:16The Cowboys go 59 yards in nine plays.
15:20Joe Milton with the one-yard run.
15:22Cowboys on the board first.
15:23It's 7-0.
15:26That was a nice sustained drive, Bill.
15:27Deuce Vaughn at 43 yards on the drive himself.
15:39Really good showing by Deuce Vaughn, too, in a very competitive game,
15:42very competitive room.
15:43It's a way to separate yourself early on in the game.
15:46And kickoff return is out to the 31-yard line.
15:49Now this from Lucas Oil.
15:52At Lucas Oil, we take pride in creating problem-solving products
15:56to make your car care easier.
15:58We protect your vehicle and make it run longer
16:00so you can focus on the things that matter most.
16:04Lucas Oil, the official oil of the Dallas Cowboys.
16:09So a good start to this one for the Dallas offense.
16:12The Falcons, in case you joined us late,
16:14missed a 51-yard field goal on their first possession.
16:17So their second time with the football here.
16:27Easton stick at quarterback.
16:29He's been their primary quarterback throughout the preseason.
16:33They haven't played Pennix or Cousins in their first two preseason games.
16:37And up the middle goes to Sean Corbin,
16:42and he gets up to about the 38 for a pickup of five yards.
16:52Matt Eberflus, the Cowboys defensive coordinator,
16:55in his return to Dallas this year.
16:57Of course, last three years, head coach of the Chicago Bears.
17:01Wants to see something out of that defensive front here.
17:05And there's a battle with the quarterback position as well.
17:07Oh, yeah, that position as well.
17:09He got Perry.
17:10But on the inside, you got Perryon Winfrey and Mozzie Smith
17:13trying to stop the run.
17:14There's not going to be the run on this one.
17:15Five wide outs.
17:18And coming up quickly to make the stop is Israel Mukwamu
17:21who's playing safety tonight.
17:23Israel Mukwamu has had a really good training camp.
17:26This is somebody from a couple years ago.
17:29Had really good feet.
17:30Came in tall, lanky corner.
17:32You guys will see him at the top of your screen.
17:34He's doing a great job of showing how versatile he is
17:37in terms of his ability to drive down on the ball.
17:39Time out for a virtual measurement.
17:41Uh-oh.
17:42Your favorite time, Bill.
17:42That's right.
17:43It's a virtual measurement time.
17:48What I was talking about, Israel Mukwamu,
17:50he has the ability.
17:52He's tall.
17:52He's lanky.
17:536'4", 200 pounds.
17:54He can run with guys.
17:56But he did not, early in his career,
17:58did not show the willingness to want to come up and be physical.
18:02And we know in the Matt Eberflew system,
18:04in order to be an effective corner,
18:06whether you're playing nickel or you're playing outside cornerback,
18:08he has to come up and make tackles.
18:11So you're seeing Israel Mukwamu really address that aspect of his game.
18:15Clearly this is a practice of the virtual measurement.
18:19You're saying it wasn't close?
18:20It was two feet, eight inches short.
18:23Oh, come on, Bill.
18:24After virtual measurement, ball carries short a line to game.
18:28It's third down.
18:28I can say what, though,
18:29but that was probably one of the quickest virtual measurements that we've seen.
18:33So we know this.
18:34When it's two feet, eight inches short, it's going to be a quick measurement.
18:38Hey, that hot guy was hitting on that one.
18:40Let's go.
18:40Big third down for the Dallas Cowboys, as well for the Atlanta Falcons.
18:46What are they going to do?
18:47Are they going to try to run the ball and attack the interior defensive line of this Dallas defense?
18:51That has been an issue in the past few weeks,
18:53or are they going to try to pass it and challenge some of these young corners?
18:56They're trying to run it, but look who's there.
19:10It's number 58.
19:11It's Mozzie Smith.
19:13Well, you've got to block them.
19:14You talk about Mozzie Smith.
19:16I don't think it could have been any easier on this one.
19:18I think somebody might have missed an assignment on this particular play.
19:21It's a really good job on the third down.
19:23Here's Mozzie Smith right here.
19:24I want you guys to tell me who's supposed to block him.
19:26Yep, yep, nobody.
19:27Yep, nobody blocks him.
19:28Bill, I think you could have made that play right there.
19:30No, I couldn't have.
19:32Either way, it works.
19:33Mozzie Smith's highlight reel's favorite.
19:39Somebody might have got slid a 20 on that one, Bill.
19:41It's a tackle for loss of some five yards there for Mozzie Smith.
19:47Stat line doesn't show that you were unblocked.
19:54Jalen Cropper on the punt return out to the 25-yard line.
19:59That's where Joe Milton and the Cowboys will take over on offense when we come back to Arlington.
20:04That's what I'm capable of every day.
20:16I show up and be the same person every day.
20:18I come out with the same energy.
20:21Going into this game, ain't nothing going to change about my mindset.
20:24Nothing going to change about the way that I'm approaching the game.
20:27Everything's going to be the same.
20:28This week's just a little bit different because I'm treating it like a real season game.
20:35Joe Milton, who came over in the trade with the New England Patriots.
20:39Sixth-round draft pick last year out of Tennessee.
20:41Of course, he started his collegiate career at Michigan.
20:45And now second possession for Milton and the Cowboys from the 25.
20:49And nothing there for Jaden Blue, the rookie fifth-round draft pick.
20:52Let's get out of the sideline.
20:53And Nicole Hutchison.
20:54Yeah, guys, Joe Milton faced a lot of criticism after those first two preseason games about throwing the ball too hard
21:00or just not reading the defenses well enough.
21:02He said the word he used was intentional.
21:05He stayed in his home office a little bit more because he said he didn't really understand the playbook.
21:11That's been a big weakness for him, understanding the run plays.
21:14And you pair that with a lack of experience, that's a recipe for disaster.
21:18So like I said, he's been a little bit more intentional this week, studying more, getting his footwork together,
21:23trusting his eyes a little bit more.
21:24And you've seen that on that first opening drive, guys.
21:27On second and 14, thanks to Cole, the completion to Ryan Planoi.
21:32Out to the 29-yard line for a pickup of eight.
21:36Ryan Planoi must have been listening to little Will Smith because he was trying to get G with it on that one.
21:41Goodness gracious, good job not only getting the reception but wanting some more.
21:46We call that around this part, yak yardage, Bill, yards after catch.
21:52Planoi's sixth-rounder out of southeast Missouri State a year ago.
21:57With a big battle at the wide receiver position.
22:00Who's going to make this 53-man roster with cut down day on Tuesday?
22:05Keep your eye on number seven.
22:07Trashon Holden, bottom of your screen, going deep downfield.
22:09And how about that catch by Revaldo Fairweather, the tight end.
22:15The big fella just continues to show up.
22:18He's been showing up week after week through training camp.
22:22There's a flag on the field.
22:23We'll see exactly what that is.
22:24But this young man has been making plays.
22:266'3", 245 pounds.
22:28And all he does is make catches like that.
22:30Illegal contact, defense.
22:32The penalties declined.
22:33It was all the play.
22:34It was the first hour.
22:35We just finished talking about Milton being intentional
22:38and understanding exactly what he's seeing.
22:40Well, right now, you've got this single high safety that's back there.
22:42The other safety is down.
22:43So what do you know?
22:44This rotation is going to go here.
22:46Well, right off the bat, you know that your seam route is where you want to go with the ball.
22:49He stays away from the safety.
22:50What he didn't do last week, he learned from his mistakes,
22:54delivers an accurate ball, and gives his tight end the opportunity to make a big play.
22:57Play fake with time.
22:58Milton throws left side.
23:00It's complete for another first time to Ryan Planoi.
23:03And he delivers another accurate ball.
23:06That was a deep comeback with pressure in his face.
23:09I'm imagining that this flag that we see here is going to be a hit to the face
23:11because Milton stood in there and drove a good ball under pressure.
23:15Flag in the backfield.
23:21Personal foul, roughing the passer, number 94 defense.
23:2415-yard penalty from the end of the play.
23:26Automatic first down.
23:27That's McHale London with the penalty for the Falcons
23:31and tack on some more yardage.
23:33Can't slap people in the face anymore, Bill.
23:35It's not the 80s, 90s, or even the early 2000s.
23:38I know you like to listen to the boys back in the day,
23:42but can't slap them in the face anymore.
23:44Okay, quarterbacks are protected.
23:45So that's an easy penalty.
23:46But look at this route.
23:48Get him on the toes.
23:48Stem to the inside.
23:49Turn his back.
23:50Come downhill.
23:51Really good route by Planoi.
23:53I don't care what Instagram account you follow.
23:55That's a good route.
23:56So, all told, that's a 31-yard gain.
24:0016-yard pass.
24:0115-yard penalty.
24:03Nothing there for Jayden Blue as London comes back
24:06and makes the tackle for no game this time.
24:08Jayden Blue getting his first opportunity here.
24:11He had been out for a couple of weeks with an injury,
24:13but returned to practice this week,
24:15and this is his first time to play in a game.
24:17Yeah, this is his first opportunity that we have as fans
24:21to see him in the game setting.
24:23Obviously, we've had an opportunity to watch him during training camp,
24:26so we are a little bit pevy to more information than others are.
24:30This is really an unfair opportunity for him.
24:32He's playing what it makes makeshift offensive line.
24:35Guys are getting their first opportunity to make plays,
24:37but you're still seeing his ability right there with his vision and explosion.
24:40Yeah, you see that burst right there.
24:424-3-8 speed.
24:44Jayden Blue heading down inside the 5-yard line.
24:47And we talked about Deuce Vaughn pressing.
24:49I want you guys to watch him press it and cut back.
24:51Press, press, cut back, use that speed.
24:54You have fast guys like that.
24:56Those linebackers and safeties don't really understand.
24:58It's like you're glitching because they get up on you so fast.
25:01Jayden Blue out of the Houston area, Klein-Kane High School.
25:07That was a pickup of 13 down to the 2-yard line and whistles at the snap.
25:21Ball start, number 69 offense, 5-yard penalty, first down.
25:26That's the rookie sixth-round draft pick, Johnny Cornelius, the right tackle.
25:31Yeah, he's having a little bit of a rough drive.
25:33There was a play that Jayden Blue got hit in the backfield earlier a couple plays ago.
25:36He had overreached on the block and now obviously on the false start.
25:40So that's what I'm talking about in terms of Blue
25:42really having a true opportunity to get the looks that he deserves.
25:45Yeah, it's hard to get running game going when you guys, guys,
25:48you have guys that are missing blocks or having false starts.
25:51First and goal from the 7.
25:54Bade, corner of the end zone to Jaylen Brooks.
25:57Overshot him, flagged down.
26:08Pass interference, number 20 defense.
26:11The foul occurred in the end zone.
26:12The ball will be placed at the 1-yard line.
26:14Automatic push down.
26:16That's Dee Alford defending.
26:18Two things you like to see happen here.
26:19Brooks not get pushed all the way to the sideline.
26:22That's number one.
26:23Number two, if you're going to throw this ball,
26:25you'd rather this ball be back here on the back shoulder
26:27because there's not enough room to throw the ball upfield.
26:29So two bad things really took place there,
26:31but ultimately it turns into a positive play and a new set of downs.
26:34And by the way, Dee Alford, a veteran player,
26:36he was the third-leading tackler for the Falcons last year
26:39and playing in this third preseason game.
26:41Milton throws it away as he was flushed out that time.
26:46I wanted to see the burners right there, Bill.
26:48I wanted to see the burners.
26:50You have an opportunity, Milton, there to get out the pocket
26:52versus a linebacker.
26:54Show how fast you are.
26:56This is when you get the test.
26:57Hey, this used to work in college.
26:58Does it work in the NFL?
27:00Let me see if I have this sixth gear that I can turn on
27:02and get around the edge on these guys.
27:04There's only so many opportunities you have to see what you're capable of,
27:07and I think that was a missed opportunity right there.
27:09But you also like the fact that he didn't.
27:11He threw it away.
27:12I take it.
27:13I take the positive play.
27:14Take chances.
27:14But as a former athletic quarterback,
27:16those are opportunities that you get only so many times in your career.
27:21And Blue shows some toughness and gets to the end zone.
27:25The former Texas Longhorn in the end zone for the first time in the preseason
27:30in his NFL career.
27:32And this is what Blue has to do.
27:35You're in there with a makeshift offensive line.
27:37You get what you get, and you don't throw a fit.
27:39Block, block.
27:40The linebacker that fills the gap, he's responsible for you.
27:43You're responsible for him.
27:44Go run him over.
27:45Make a play.
27:46Don't let one man tackle you when you're one yard away from the end zone.
27:49That's a great job of dropping your pads,
27:51understanding what the blocking assignments are,
27:53and knowing that you're going to have to get through one guy to get to that goal line.
27:56So, Brandon Aubrey on for the extra point.
28:07And he is perfect as usual.
28:11And the Cowboys now lead the Falcons 14 to nothing.
28:19Tonight, Dave and Buster's power play featured Arlington Martin's girls' flag football team.
28:26Receiving their championship rings as the first ever North Texas High School girls' flag champions.
28:31Head coach Patrick Dunn, who led the team to a 9-1 record,
28:35also honored as the Dallas Cowboys 2025 girls' flag coach of the year.
28:39Also honored pregame were the El Paso region champions, Harmony Science Academy.
28:45North Texas saw 54 teams over 200 girls' flag games this season,
28:51while El Paso's region hosted 38 teams in over 150 games.
28:55Dave and Buster's new menu, new games, great deals.
28:59The official watch location of the Dallas Cowboys.
29:05The forward scoring drive, 75 yards in eight plays.
29:10Jayden Blue caps it with a one-yard run.
29:12That's a really good drive by Joe Milton
29:14in terms of making good decisions, throwing accurate balls,
29:18staying in the pocket, delivering the ball under pressure,
29:21throwing it away when you have to.
29:23Even though I want to see him use those burners at times, Bill.
29:26I'm being a little biased, I know.
29:28But really good drive by him and the rest of these Dallas Cowboys on offense.
29:31And good coverage.
29:32Jalen Cropper, one of the first ones down.
29:35You get Natron Brooks on the return.
29:37Down on the sideline, Nicole Hutchison.
29:39Nicole?
29:39Well, guys, girls' flag football is a huge initiative,
29:43not only for the NFL, but also for the Dallas Cowboys.
29:47It's giving young women across North Texas a chance to compete, right?
29:51Develop, be inclusive, inclusivity, show some sportsmanship,
29:55but also learn the fundamentals of teamwork.
29:57It's headed by Charlotte Jones and also former Dallas Cowboy Danny McRae,
30:02who has certainly helped a lot of these young ladies
30:04in terms of those advocating and those wanting to learn the sport.
30:09But the ultimate goal for the Dallas Cowboys
30:11is advocating for it to be a sanctioned sport by the Texas UIL.
30:14Guys?
30:15All right, Nicole.
30:16Easton, stick to Nick Nash.
30:17Yeah.
30:18During this spring, if you were ever out at the Star in Frisco
30:20on a Saturday morning or Saturday afternoon,
30:24there was girls' flag football going on on the practice fields.
30:28It's great.
30:29And that is one of the fastest-growing sports in America,
30:32and especially here in the state of Texas.
30:34And I think it will be a UIL sport sooner rather than later.
30:39And shout-out to the Jones family, Miss Charlotte.
30:43Shout-out to Danny McRae for heading up that department.
30:46And Dallas Cowboys really leading the way
30:47in regards to women's flag football.
30:49It's awesome.
30:52Over the middle and almost a pick.
30:56Elijah Clark coming up.
30:58Got a flag down.
30:59Personal foul.
31:08Welcome to passer.
31:08Number 91 defense.
31:1015-yard penalty.
31:11Automatic first down.
31:12That's Tyrus Wheat.
31:18Oh, Tyrus Wheat at the top of your screen.
31:21Nice little spin move.
31:22Gets on the inside.
31:23And, oh, finish him.
31:26A little bit too late.
31:27A little bit too late.
31:28Nice move.
31:29Nice bag of tricks.
31:31Unfortunately, split seconds matter in this game
31:34when you're playing the defensive end position.
31:36On the wrong side of it there.
31:37So, plus 15 for the Falcons.
31:39And now in the Cowboys' end of the field at the 45.
31:43And the center is stick.
31:45And again, up the middle for a couple.
31:50Run defense has been a problem for the Cowboys
31:53not only last year, but last several years.
32:00And you talk about the run defense,
32:03a big part of run defense,
32:04especially those interior defense alignment,
32:05is not jumping around blocks.
32:08You see Mozzie Smith going off your screen there,
32:10knowing exactly where your lane assignments are
32:12because linebackers are dependent upon
32:15the success of a D lineman.
32:17And if guys are jumping out of position
32:18at the D line position,
32:19it's hard for linebackers to have success.
32:23Well, the Cowboys are having success early on
32:25in this one against the Falcons.
32:27It's a 14-0 lead.
32:28We're at the end of one quarter in Arlington.
32:35The Cowboys are America's team.
32:38And Papa John's is America's pizza.
32:40And we've teamed up to bring you the Cowboys special.
32:43Cowboys fans, get along.
32:45The Dallas Cowboys connecting changes everything.
32:48Bill Jones, Isaiah's stand back,
32:53Dak Prescott on the Cowboys sideline,
32:56Nicole Hutchison on the Cowboys sideline,
32:59Young Hutch.
33:02Start of the second quarter,
33:04Easton stick in the Falcons from the pistol,
33:06and second and eight.
33:08Looking left on the slam.
33:10It's a first down for the Falcons to the 31-yard line.
33:13Good throw by Easton stick right there.
33:16It's a timing, timing throw,
33:18catch and release out of the gun.
33:19It's a three-step drop typically.
33:22Double slant versus single high safety.
33:24That's exactly where you go over the ball.
33:26Put it on the uphill shoulder
33:27so that your receiver can catch
33:28and try to do something with it.
33:29Small details that make all the world of a difference,
33:32especially when your teammates are relying on ball location
33:34for them to make plays.
33:35Stick out of North Dakota State
33:41with the Chargers.
33:48Hit in the backfield and dropped.
33:51What a play by James Houston.
33:57Great job by James Houston.
33:59And I don't use the word great all the time.
34:01Watch his vision.
34:02He's looking back here the entire time.
34:03He sees this motion come across the formation
34:05and he maintains his leverage.
34:08Big thing for these defensive ends
34:09not to lose leverage.
34:10He did not allow that to happen to him on that play.
34:12A six-yard loss downfield.
34:15It's Troy Pride with the interception in the end zone.
34:18He slides down, takes a knee.
34:25Another one of the challenges that you have
34:27as a quarterback when you're playing with
34:28all the guys on the bottom of the depth chart, Bill,
34:31is when this guy wants to do this
34:33and you want him to do that.
34:35He puts on the brakes.
34:36Come back.
34:38You continue to think that he's going to go on a go route.
34:41Oftentimes what you see there is
34:42versus a pressed corner or sitting corner,
34:46you want guys to go ahead and go, right?
34:49On that one, it was quarters coverage.
34:51Troy Pride kept baiting him, giving, giving, giving.
34:54He kind of gave a misread.
34:55Miss Reed, I believe that was on the fault of Easton Stick on that one
34:58because the receiver was right.
35:00There was nothing that was prohibiting him from running his comeback route.
35:02Should have been thrown on the comeback.
35:04He threw it on the deep route, and big interceptions to happen like that.
35:07There is a flag in the end zone,
35:09the celebration in the end zone by the Cowboys.
35:11The other question that I have is where Troy Pride caught that football
35:15at about the three-yard line and runs into the end zone and takes a knee.
35:21The officials are conferring right now near the end zone.
35:26Did you approve of the celebration, Bill?
35:28Well, the officials, I don't believe, approve of that celebration.
35:32Come on.
35:33Bill, I would pay to see your celebration.
35:36If you had an interception, what would you do?
35:38That's my question.
35:39Not a WWJD bracelet.
35:41I want to know what would Bill Jones do.
35:44No, we want to see an Isaiah backflip.
35:48No, you don't want to see nothing with my back right now, Bill.
35:51It's a long conference here.
35:56No, you don't want to see anything with my back right now, Bill.
36:03Alan Eck, the referee.
36:16After review, the 12th defensive player did not get off the field prior to the pass
36:21as too many men on the defense, five-yard penalty from the previous spot.
36:25After the interception, unsportsmanlike conduct, number 34 of the intercepting team,
36:30that penalty has declined.
36:32It's second down.
36:34So, number 34 of the intercepting team is not a defensive player.
36:39That would be Jaden Blue, an offensive player.
36:41And you can't come on the field to help your teammates celebrate.
36:45So, I figured that part out, I think, with the number 34.
36:49Yeah, that was pretty confusing there.
36:51Either way, the Atlanta Falcons get to keep the ball.
36:54That mistake gets erased like an etching sketch, Bill.
37:01It never happened.
37:05Please reset the game clock to 13.50.
37:0813.50 on the game clock.
37:09Cowboys are making that substitution.
37:11And here we go.
37:13We're going to take a look here.
37:24We'll show it to you after this play by the Falcons at the 31-yard line.
37:31Second and ten.
37:32Tipped.
37:35And almost.
37:37Troy Pryde almost came up with a second interception.
37:41Let's see why he didn't get the first interception first.
37:45Oh, no.
37:47Man, it looks like somebody's trying to get off the field here, Bill.
37:51I don't think it happens in time.
37:53The ball is snapped.
37:54Heads up play by Easton Stick.
37:56And then right here, Troy Pryde just wishes he had this thing back.
38:00Good job by Perry and Winfrey getting some pressure there.
38:03Tips and overthrows, Bill.
38:05What do you got to do?
38:06Got to get those.
38:08Those are the ones you have nightmares about.
38:13So third down.
38:17That was Tyrus Sweet.
38:18That was late getting off the field.
38:23Come on, Hall defending Chris Blair.
38:25He's right at the first down marker.
38:28It is a first down for the Falcons.
38:30He might hold another guy that has taken full advantage of his opportunities.
38:37One of the guys that is on this depth chart for the Dallas Cowboys at the nickel position.
38:40He's going to be asked to have some flex to him.
38:42Play the nickel.
38:43Also play out there on the outside.
38:45Can you come up and be physical in the running game?
38:48Because the run defense is a holistic approach.
38:50It's one of the smallest guys on the field.
38:52But he hasn't been playing like it in the preseason.
38:54Firing it out to the left side.
39:07And that's Dylan Drummond for a short game.
39:10Papa John's, the official pizza of the Dallas Cowboys.
39:15Papa John's, better ingredients, better pizza.
39:20I told you the next time you say Papa John's commercial, we need some food up here.
39:23I don't have that kind of power.
39:35Falcons have been able to sustain this drive in an unusual way.
39:40Another empty set by the Falcons here.
39:44And a false start.
39:50False start, number 67, offense.
39:53Five-yard penalty, second down.
39:54That's Joshua Gray.
39:58The offensive guard.
40:00See if they come out of the empty set again.
40:02A couple things that happens whenever you come out in the empty set.
40:04It really clears up the looks for the quarterback.
40:07He's able to see exactly if there's going to be pressure.
40:09Where is that pressure coming from?
40:10It's very hard to disguise your coverages whenever you're in an empty set.
40:14And then defensively, you have an opportunity to get to the quarterback relatively easy.
40:18Because there's no running back to be back there to be his backup and assist in blocking schemes.
40:23Not an empty set here.
40:24Just in the three-by-one.
40:28Stick looking left.
40:29Gets it to his back and up quickly to make the stop.
40:33Elijah Clark.
40:34Really good read and react by Elijah Clark.
40:42You're going to see him right here.
40:43He'll do a great job at seeing that this running back is going to turn around and just hitch up right here.
40:47Don't wait.
40:48Come fill the gap.
40:49Boom.
40:49Really good job by Elijah Clark being decisive.
40:51That's what you need out of your safety.
40:53A four-yard loss on the play.
40:58And it's Dylan Drummond who gets some of it back inside the 20-yard line to the 19.
41:04Here's some pads popping out here, Bill.
41:07Here's some pads popping.
41:09Big game for everybody on that field today.
41:12Absolutely.
41:12Absolutely.
41:12Robert Rochelle, number 30 there, a veteran guy trying to make a roster, whether it's this roster or someone else's roster.
41:25It's all film, Bill.
41:26Everybody has access to it.
41:29Just want to make sure that whatever you put on film is something that you stand firm behind.
41:32Young-Ho Koo from 38 yards.
41:40And this time it is good.
41:42And the Falcons are on the board for the first time tonight.
41:4710.45 to play in the second quarter.
41:50Cowboys with a 14-3 lead on the Falcons.
41:52Learn a new game and invest like the pros in crypto.

42:10Invest like your icons with Blockchain.com.
42:18First two drives this preseason.
42:20Games one and two.
42:21Negative four yards.
42:23Tonight, 134 yards and two touchdowns.
42:27So you're saying coaching matters.
42:31It takes time, people.
42:33It takes time to figure out exactly what's being received by your guys.
42:37It takes time to get your point across.
42:38It takes time to learn how your guys receive coaching.
42:41You've got to give brand-new coaches to have an opportunity to find their way.
42:45And that's what Brian Schottenheimer is doing with his staff right now.
42:47They're finding a way to get through to their players.
42:49And, yes, these are the guys that are going to be in the bottom of the lineup.
42:52But this is still guys that are going to be a part of your team.
42:54Majority of these guys on this field tonight are going to find their way on the roster for either the Cowboys or somebody else.
42:59So you're not just coaching the guys that are going to be sitting at home.
43:04Kickoff goes into the end zone.
43:09Time to recognize tonight's Bank of America offensive player of the game who's not playing in this game, but will be playing in 13 days.
43:17It's Javante Williams.
43:19The kickoff touched the ground in the landing zone before going into the end zone.
43:23Touchback at the 20-yard line.
43:25First out.
43:26Javante Williams, former second-round draft pick by the Broncos in 2022 and acquired by the Cowboys.
43:32Signed as a free agent this offseason.
43:35Bank of America, the official bank of the Dallas Cowboys.
43:38That's what you want to do on the kickoff.
43:40You want to land in that landing zone and go into the end zone.
43:4320-yard line is where Joe Milton and the Cowboys take over.
43:47Rolling right.
43:50And he'll throw it incomplete out of bounds.
43:53Second and ten.
43:54Speaking of running backs, Javante Williams at the top of the depth chart.
43:57But it's been very competitive throughout the offseason and throughout training camp.
44:03We're seeing an extension of it tonight with Deuce Vaughn starting this game.
44:06Jaden Blue getting his first action of the preseason.
44:10Others, Miles Sanders not playing tonight.
44:12We saw him last week.
44:13Phil Moffa, the second of the seventh-round draft pick.
44:16And Malik Davis, a couple of weeks ago against the Rams, showed up and 36 hours later was playing in a game.
44:24Rushing for over 60 yards.
44:26Here's Jaden Blue up the middle.
44:27By the way, Jaden Blue, this is his first football game he's played in since last season for the Texas Longhorns.
44:33Right here at AT&T Stadium in the Cotton Bowl in that college football playoff national semifinal game against Ohio State.
44:41And, by the way, he had both of the Longhorn touchdowns in that game on touchdown receptions.
44:48So, he had two receptions last time he was here for touchdown.
44:53This time here when he has one running touchdown.
44:55So, you say he owes us one more.
44:57At least.
44:58At least.
44:59Melton fires up to the 29-yard line to Princeton Phant.
45:09Talking about Blue right here.
45:11Really good job.
45:12This is one of the most difficult things.
45:14I want you guys to see Blue, but I want you guys to see exactly where he's tracking.
45:17His eyes are all the way across the field.
45:18He comes out here, gets a solid block by the outside man there for the defensive Atlanta Falcons.
45:24That is very difficult for him to pick up.
45:25For him, his ability to be able to sit on the left side of the quarterback and scan all the way back to the right side.
45:30Get over there and execute your block to ensure that your quarterback has a chance.
45:33That's a really heads-up play outside of the skill set that he gives credit for, which is obviously his speed.
