00:00Ben DiNucci and the James Madison team beat him in the national semifinals in 2017.
00:08493 sounds like a boxing record.
00:13North Dakota State has been a heavyweight in the FCS ranks for about 15 years now.
00:23Move the chains, first down for the Falcons.
00:26We were talking about it off-air, Bill, but we're going to get a heavy dose of run for both of these teams as you get into these later quarters for this third preseason game.
00:38You really want to get about your offensive line a good look.
00:42Do these guys have the wind to be able to sustain drives?
00:46Do they have the conditioning?
00:47Are they going to maintain their technique whenever they're tired?
00:50Those are things that you're looking for as a coaching staff right now.
00:53Blocking assignments.
00:53Can these guys stay on their blocks, have good pad level?
00:57Can your guys tackle when they're tired?
01:01It's a test for the Dallas defense and the tackling when they're tired right now.
01:05As a matter of fact, AT&T, official sponsor of the Dallas Cowboys, connecting changes everything.
01:11Varian Winfrey, number 99, has played a lot tonight.
01:14Yes, he has.
01:15We mentioned it early in the broadcast, but I've been in these games.
01:19I've been in a lot of these games, Bill.
01:20In my career, I was always up against the wall, and I can tell you one thing.
01:23Don't look to the sideline.
01:25There's no help over there.
01:26Your help's going to have diamonds around their neck, and they're going to have tennis shoes on.
01:30I promise you they're not coming in the game to help you.
01:32It's a little different now than what it was when you were playing as far as cut down day in the NFL, though, because the practice squad has expanded now.
01:42Now a 16-man practice squad.
01:44Back in your day, what was it, about a five- or six-man practice squad?
01:48So this last preseason game.
01:52You were truly fighting for your life.
01:53Right.
01:54You were fighting for a real job.
01:56You had 53 plus five, to my knowledge, and there's a lot of guys fighting for a handful of spots.
02:01Now most of the team that's actually here is going to end up with a job.
02:05There might be about 15 or 16 guys that may not have a job.
02:09But here's the other thing is the practice squad's salary is quite a bit different than what it was back in your day, too.
02:15It's at least quadruple.
02:16If you're on a practice squad the entire season, you're talking $250,000 for a veteran on the practice squad.
02:25Yeah, they're definitely at a happier game rate for calling games, Bill.
02:28I mean, these guys are making some real money now.
02:31Come to the end of the third quarter here.
02:36Matt Eberflus is like what he's seen out of James Houston throughout the preseason and the rest of his Dallas defense tonight.
02:44We're back with the fourth quarter in just a moment.
02:53The Lenovo Skycam.
02:57Smarter technology for all.
03:00As we start the fourth quarter here at AT&T Stadium, and we know for certain this is the last quarter of the preseason, there is no overtime in the preseason.
03:12The last 15 minutes of play from the 10-yard line.
03:20Easton Stick has gone all the way at quarterback for the Falcons in this game.
03:25Toss right.
03:26Toss right.
03:27And not much running room.
03:33Toss right.
03:34Defense line of the Dallas Cowboys got washed completely to the back side on that play play was going to the right all the defensive line over the Dallas Cowboys were behind the ball.
03:44You don't want to see guys jumping around blocks, you want to see guys holding the border, crossing face, being lane disciplined.
03:50I know Aaron White caught the defensive line coach is going to be harping on that in a major way, especially when guys get down here into the fringe.
03:57And how about Kimon Hall coming up and making that tackle?
04:00He's not afraid to do so.
04:01That's right.
04:02He's trying to win a spot as a slot corner.
04:05Passes dropped by Chris Blair at the three-yard line.
04:13We've seen these double slants a number of times today.
04:16That was another one where Easton Stick made the right read, went to the double slant, and the receiver just dropped it.
04:22Slant here, takes out this middle.
04:24His linebacker comes to the back side slant.
04:26He's open right here.
04:28That's a drop touchdown right there.
04:29Even though you see Israel Muquambo, number 24 for the Dallas Cowboys, getting on Troy Prye, his cornerback, saying,
04:35Come on, I need you to get some help in there.
04:39So third and goal just inside the 10-yard line.
04:49Almost picked off.
04:52Darius Harris.
04:54Good pressure on the defensive front by Tamiya King-Basote.
04:57They ran a nice little stunt on the defensive line.
05:00He's able to get some pressure.
05:01Going to come in.
05:02Going to come out.
05:04And what ends up happening is these offensive linemen get crossed up because of pressure right there.
05:08Hits them on the back side as they're almost able to get the interception by Darius Harris.
05:11Good team defense there by the Dallas Cowboys.
05:17So they force the field goal attempt.
05:19Young-Ho Koo on.
05:20The Falcons carry two place kickers on their roster.
05:24Lenny Craig, native of Germany, is their other kicker.
05:28International pathway player.
05:31And Koo's attempt from 28 yards is good.
05:35His second field goal of this game.
05:39Makes it a 24-13 game.
05:41Here early in the fourth quarter.
05:42Darius Harris almost got the pick.
05:55This game is brought to you by Gillette.
05:57The official shave of the Dallas Cowboys.
06:04Friday night lights in Arlington.
06:07Friday night lights in Texas for high school football next Friday night.
06:11At the start of the high school season.
06:13Isaiah stand back.
06:14Don't you just love this time of the year?
06:16Whether it's high school, college, or the NFL.
06:20Yeah, just tell the wives from Friday to Sunday.
06:23Or actually Friday to Tuesday.
06:25You're out of commission.
06:26Some wives, like my wife, she's watching.
06:29She's watching more than I am.
06:30Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday.
06:33Tell us you get Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
06:35We're working on it.
06:38Deuce Vaughn slips one man, gets out past the 20-yard line.
06:43Now this from Globe Life.
06:44Deuce Vaughn's had a nice night at his number, 42 yards rushing in the first half of this game.
07:11Joe Milton started at quarterback, now second possession for the veteran, Will Greer.
07:16Starts at the 24-yard line.
07:25Greer takes off and picks up three or four yards.
07:29Let's go down to the sideline.
07:30Nicole Hutchison has a special guest.
07:32Yeah, guys, I'm joined by the newest addition at linebacker, Kenneth Murray.
07:36And I feel like congratulations are in order for you.
07:40You had a new baby girl.
07:41I mean, what's it like being a father for you?
07:43I mean, it's amazing.
07:45It's been everything I dreamed of.
07:46I mean, she's so sweet.
07:47So I'm just happy, you know, my wife's healthy, baby's healthy.
07:51So, yeah, it's been a blessing.
07:52Something else that has been a blessing is being here in Dallas.
07:55I know you've been very vocal about that.
07:57But, you know, I want to talk about your position.
07:59You came to Dallas.
08:00I first talked to you.
08:01You said, I want to be in the middle.
08:03I'm best when I play in the middle.
08:05Matt Iverflus has been trying a couple of new things, though.
08:08What have you learned about yourself and your role in this defense throughout camp so far?
08:12Oh, man, it's been fun.
08:14I just think, you know, every day coming in, just trying to get better.
08:17You know, we've been able – we've been trying a lot of stuff throughout training camp.
08:20You know, I always feel like training camp is a time to get better,
08:22but it's also a time to, you know, coaches experiment with schemes,
08:26seeing what we like, what we don't like.
08:28And so, you know, I feel like we've been playing extremely aggressive.
08:30I feel like I've been playing extremely aggressive, coming downhill, seeing the game.
08:35It's slowed down a lot, so just having fun with it.
08:37There's a lot of talent in this linebacker room.
08:39What excites you most about, you know, what you guys can build special in this room?
08:44Just the group as a whole.
08:45I think we all come out here with a chip on our shoulder,
08:48just trying to prove that we're one of the best units in the league.
08:52And I think we definitely have that,
08:53but I just think every day is just putting our best foot forward,
08:55trying to come out here and prove that.
08:56Thank you so much, Kenneth.
08:57I appreciate you, and best of luck to you this season.
09:00Kenneth Murray, the Oklahoma Sooner.
09:02The Texas Longhorn Jaden Blue is down on the field back in a moment.
09:08I'm a sideline report presented by LG OLED Evo.
09:12Choose perfection.
09:13Choose LG OLED Evo.
09:16Check out the best TV in the game at LG.com.
09:21Bill, what size TV do you have at home?
09:22Not that big, not as large as your TV, I'm sure.
09:28Treshauna Holden on the receiving end.
09:30And by the way,
09:32Blue, it appeared to be a lower leg where he was favoring.
09:37His injury earlier in training camp was his right ankle heel area.
09:42Hopefully he'll be okay.
09:44And he was able to walk off under his own power, so that's good.
09:47It is good.
09:47Hope it's not something that flamed back up from earlier that kept him out from those first two preseason games.
09:53Obviously, we're happy to see him out here today, but
09:55with 12 and a half minutes left, I'm not sure of the probability of him getting back in this game.
10:01And it was hard to tell which ankle he was correct.
10:05False start, offense, number seven, five-yard penalty, still third down.
10:09Like the body came down on his left ankle, but his right ankle was also in the mix there, too.
10:21And we see him on the sideline.
10:23And that's juice to that running back room with his 4-3-8 speed.
10:27A touchdown tonight for Jaden Blue.
10:30Nine carries, 25 yards tonight.
10:33Also with the pass reception as well.
10:35Will Greer looking to throw, now he'll get it to Phil Motha, who drops it.
10:49A little bit too hot, a little bit too high for a running back.
10:53Turning over.
10:55Well, now you're going to force a fourth down punt, most likely for the Dallas Cowboys.
10:58It's the time of the game, Bill, where it gets really tough to have some continuity offensively
11:07because so much is required communication-wise, timing-wise, and often this is one of the first
11:15times that you're actually competing out here with this group of guys.
11:18You all have learned the same playbook, but you all have them playing to the same speed
11:23and at the same time, you're all vying for a handful of jobs.
11:27Brian Angers putt and down quickly with a big hit at the 25-yard line, a couple of Cowboys.
11:38Darius Harris, a core special teamer throughout his career.
11:41That was Malik Davis.
11:44Malik Davis, number 21.
11:47Jeez.
11:48Woo!
11:50He said, I haven't touched the ball at the running back position today.
11:53You're going to make sure you know I'm on this field.
11:58Another look.
11:59There it is.
12:01Josh Woods, take that.
12:02I can lay the wood too, says Malik Davis.
12:07Oh, damn.
12:11The creators of Buffalo Casino Games bring you Cowboys-themed casino games developed by Aristocrat.
12:24Find America's team on and off the reels now at a casino near you.
12:31They are having a good time on that Cowboys sideline.
12:34It's always a good time when you can either not be in pads because it's preseason
12:39or you can take the pads off because you're down for the day.
12:42It's a good feeling, Bill.
12:44Nick Nash is having a good time for the Atlanta Falcons tonight.
12:46He sure is.
12:47Another catch.
12:52Five for 69.
12:54Is that where he's at?
12:55Prior to that catch, I believe.
12:58Yeah.
12:59He's racking him up.
12:59He's on his way to 100.
13:01Yeah, six for 87 at this point.
13:03And to give to the right side past the 45-yard line goes Corbin.
13:16Now to the sideline and Nicole.
13:18Guys, I have an update on Jaden Blue.
13:21He is ruled out for the rest of the game for a right ankle injury.
13:24All right.
13:26Thank you very much, Nicole.
13:28There you take a look at it.
13:31That's why it was hard to tell whether it was the left or the right.
13:35And the right ankle was right ankle slash heel was what he had injured a couple of weeks ago
13:41and had just gotten back this week.
13:43Hopefully he'll be fine in a couple of weeks when the Cowboys go to Philadelphia.
13:47Shamar James, the rookie fifth-round draft pick, just like Jaden Blue, a fifth-round draft pick,
13:55says, it's my time now.
13:57All right, it was his time.
13:58That was a mirror drill.
14:00Shamar James sitting in the middle of the defense at the second level as a linebacker,
14:04and he is literally just mirroring the eyes of the quarterback.
14:07This is him right here.
14:08He's locked in on the quarterback, Eastern stick.
14:10Watch how he just follows him.
14:12Follows his eyes, follows exactly to the ball, able to get an interception, big play for the rookie.
14:18Shamar James, what potential he has, only 21 years old.
14:22He was the number one linebacker in the nation coming out of high school.
14:30Ashley is proud to call Dallas home, just like the Dallas.
14:36The fifth-round pick out of the University of Florida, Shamar James with the interception,
14:42and congratulations all around.
14:44I like that linebacker room.
14:47You see Damone Clark, number 18, coming over.
14:52Not playing tonight.
14:56Will Greer will slide down.
14:58There's a flag down in the backfield.
15:00Holding offense, number 68, 10-yard penalty, still first down.
15:06That's Nick Broker.
15:11Talking about those linebackers, we heard from Kenneth Murray,
15:15who we haven't seen this preseason.
15:18We've only seen a little bit of Jack Sanborn, who's also starting at linebacker.
15:23Maris Leofau, we've seen.
15:25Damone Clark played very well last week.
15:27Tonight, we've seen Justin Barrett and Shamar James.
15:30Buddy Johnson, Darius Harris, and, oh, by the way, Damarby on Overshown.
15:34Agent zero.
15:34Oh, wearing his number zero, but not able to wear it right now
15:39because he's hurt to start the season.
15:42So he's shooting for Thanksgiving.
15:43That's his target date.
15:45He's kind of a big game, isn't it?
15:47Kind of, yeah, just a little bit.
15:48Gets a pretty good opponent.
15:50Kansas City Chiefs will be here Thanksgiving Day.
15:54All right, downfield incomplete, looking for Josh Kelly.
16:09Missed opportunity for Will Greer right there.
16:12He had an opportunity, had a big touchdown over the top.
16:17I think he felt the pressure a little bit from the defensive line,
16:20but if he's shown a little bit of patience,
16:22if I had this down correctly, it ended up coming in here,
16:25and we had a big post over the top.
16:27Oh, but the post was on the inside, came from the outside,
16:29on the dig route.
16:33Try to hit Josh Kelly there.
16:36A lot of times predetermined based upon the coverage,
16:38but sometimes you have a little oopsie happen on the defensive side,
16:42and you can take advantage of it.
16:43You can miss opportunity there.
16:45Pass goes short to Tyler Neville at midfield.
16:48No matter if you're tailgating or watching the game and grilling at home,
16:51all tailgating, deserves Pepsi.
17:00What a great story Tyler Neville is.
17:03I like him a lot.
17:04Yes.
17:05I'm going to talk about somebody who's nasty, Bill.
17:07Why don't you put those pads on early on in training can.
17:10We're in a lot of pads.
17:11Obviously, it's hard to tell somebody who's a big mauler,
17:13but that guy right there has a little extra salt and a little spice to him
17:16when he gets a chance, starts popping those pads and hitting those helmets.
17:20On the right side.
17:24A little tight end.
17:26Fairweather downfield.
17:28A flag down on the near side of the field.
17:33Curious as to what this flag is,
17:35but there is nobody over here on this side of the field.
17:37Looks like it might be a legal contact.
17:46Illegal contact, number 37, defense.
17:49That field is declined.
17:50Result of the play is the first down.
17:52Good call there, Isaiah.
17:54They must have called it on you, Bill,
17:56because you're the only one that was on that side of the field.
17:57But in regards to where the ball actually went,
18:09Revaldo Fairweather did a heck of a job receiving it.
18:13Oh, yeah, that was okay.
18:19So down inside the 35, Greer firing right side, incomplete.
18:25Looking for Josh Kelly in the end zone.
18:28Will Garrett got rolled up on pretty good.
18:30Hopefully he can get up.
18:31Looks like it's a personal foul.
18:33We're off in the passer.
18:34Defense, number 91.
18:36That's a 15-yard penalty in the previous spot.
18:39Goes down.
18:39This is the Tom Brady rule.
18:41This is the reason why they put this rule in place.
18:43This is a very dangerous play.
18:45Not to say it had Madeline tent,
18:47but whenever you start getting defense alignment,
18:49going at the knees of quarterbacks,
18:50especially when you have to plant and drive as a quarterback,
18:54your knee has nowhere to go.
18:55We've seen the bad side of those plays,
18:58those types of plays, which is why the rule is in place.
19:01I'm glad that Will Greer was able to get up.
19:02I'm glad nobody got injured.
19:05The referees are able to make the right call.
19:07Simeon Barrow, the undrafted rookie
19:10out of the University of Miami, number 91.
19:13And rear timeout, Dallas.
19:20It's a 30-second timeout.
19:21Trying to walk it off there.
19:26But you don't want to see anything like that,
19:29especially at this point in the preseason,
19:31with 9.24 to play here in the fourth quarter.
19:33And it's tough for Simeon Barrow, too, Jr., the Atlanta Falcons.
19:38You've got to understand,
19:39if you're playing in a game at this point,
19:40you're fighting for an opportunity,
19:42whether it's with this team or another team.
19:44So you're scratching, crawling, biting,
19:47doing everything that you can to try to make an impact.
19:49And you get that close to the quarterback,
19:51all you want to do is get him to the ground.
19:53And then you have to remember,
19:54oh, yeah, there's a set of rules that I can't go at the knees.
19:57And obviously they're in place for a reason,
20:00but you don't fault the man for trying to make a play.
20:02He was glad that everybody ended up safe on it.
20:07At Phil Moffa in the backfield,
20:10Tyler Neville is lined up also in the backfield,
20:14tied in, lined up in a Hunter Lipke-type role.
20:16He's a fullback lead blocker for Moffa.
20:20Join his power.
20:21Phil Moffa, the rookie out of Clemson,
20:23seventh-round draft pick all the way to the two-yard line.
20:26You need more people.
20:28This dude is a freaking house.
20:31Look at him, take the time, set the blocks,
20:33get downhill, line them up, oop, knock them down.
20:36You're going to need more people than that.
20:37Yep, you bring your friends.
20:38Yes, sir, I'm getting to that goal line.
20:41And trying to muscle his way forward.
20:43How about 46?
20:45Tyler Neville there with a lead block on Ronnie Harrison.
20:48The flag down here.
20:49By the way, Tyler Neville, what a great story he is.
20:52He was born deaf.
20:53Yep.
20:53And through a number of surgeries,
20:56was able to gain his hearing by age four.
21:00And then as a teenager.
21:01Illegal formation, offense number 72.
21:04Is on the end of the line and uncovered.
21:06We replayed first down, five yards from the previous spot.
21:08As a teenager, he had one surgery where he had an issue with his chest
21:15where he had to have a surgery and a bar put in his chest.
21:21He couldn't play football for a couple of years while he was going through that
21:25and then was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma.
21:28Yeah.
21:29And underwent chemotherapy for a couple of years.
21:31Finally was declared cancer-free at age 16
21:35and was able to play football again.
21:37Goes to Harvard, graduates from Harvard,
21:40and then transfers to the University of Virginia.
21:42Now he's a Dallas Cowboy.
21:44To the end zone.
21:45Goes incomplete.
21:46And a flag down in the end zone.
21:50Yeah, this seems like a pretty easy pass in appearance on the defense there.
21:53But talking about Tyler Neville, what a heck of a story.
21:57Perseverance.
21:58Overcoming everything that he did.
21:59Be in a position he's in for an opportunity here.
22:01Pass interference.
22:02Defense number 37.
22:04The foul according to the end zone.
22:05It's the ball replaced.
22:06The one-yard line.
22:07First down.
22:09We're going to have Josh Kelly working down here in the bottom of your screen.
22:12He's going to try to set it outside.
22:14Ends up getting a little inside release.
22:15Tries to get it back to the inside there.
22:17And, yeah, you just can't grab it like that.
22:19Yeah, it's a little easy for them to make that call.
22:21Kobe Bryant, I'm sorry.
22:23You got God.
22:24You can do all the hand flag waving you want to do.
22:26Yes, that's a yellow flag.
22:29So the Cowboys in position at the one-yard line.
22:38Going to give it to the big guy.
22:40Yeah, buddy.
22:41Coming down here.
22:42Oh, it's going to be the quarterback.
22:44To the goal line goes Will Greer.
22:47Uh-oh, her marking him short.
22:48Offensive line thinks he's in.
22:55Line judge says otherwise.
22:58Mark, and I'm sure.
22:59Let's see if we can see it from the side view here.
23:01He's pushing.
23:02He's pushing.
23:02He's pushing it all to his hiney went down, Bill.
23:05The hiney sold him out.
23:07Crossed the plane of the goal line.
23:09One too many squats.
23:10So, give it to 37, the big fella.
23:21Neville goes in motion.
23:22Phil Moffa stacked up at the line.
23:29Pushing forward.
23:30Pushing forward.
23:31Got it.
23:32He's in.
23:37Phil Moffa, who scored 28 touchdowns at Clemson.
23:43The rookie, Lyle Collins, gets the spike in the end zone.
23:48For all the young linemen out there, this is why you continue to push.
23:52Phil Moffa's going to run into what we call a brick wall right here.
23:55There's nowhere to go.
23:57Literally nowhere to go.
23:58But his linemen come back, and they give him push.
24:00Push.
24:01Everybody gets a little push.
24:03A little push in the tush, as we know, around here in the NFC East.
24:06Gets you a touchdown.
24:07That's exactly right.
24:08Lenovo Skycam showed it to you.
24:11Smarter technology for all.
24:13And the Cowboys gave up 31 points in the first two preseason games.
24:21And Brandon Aubrey gives them 31 points themselves tonight.
24:25There we go.
24:26There we go.
24:27A 31-13 lead for Phil Moffa and the Cowboys.
24:35Offensive play of the game.
24:38Brought to you by Winstar World Casino and Resort.
24:41Proud to be the casino of the Dallas Cowboys.
24:44There it is.
24:44Joe Milton up top.
24:46Jalen Brooks, please game responsibly.
24:48The Winstar World Casino and Resort play of the game.
24:52That was so pretty, Bill.
24:54So pretty.
24:55Chef's kiss.
24:57Ace.
24:58Ace, Ray.
24:59Woo-hoo.
25:01Watch the kick.
25:02Bam.
25:02There you go.
25:03I like it, J.D.
25:04It's even better with the sound effects.
25:06I'm going to say a stand back.
25:09I watched a lot of Police Academy growing up, Bill.
25:11Apparently.
25:16Ford's scoring drive.
25:22Ford is the best in Texas.
25:2443 yards and six plays.
25:26It took three minutes.
25:28Phil Moffa finds the end zone.
25:34Brandon Aubrey still getting his opportunity to get his work in on these kickoffs.
25:41That's a good one.
25:42Right in the drop zone there.
25:46And the Tron Brooks with the return out past the 35-yard line.
25:54As you cheer on the Dallas Cowboys, you can also enjoy Tyson's star-shaped Cowboys Nuggets.
26:01How about them, Tyson Cowboys Nuggets, available at AT&T Stadium and select retailers.
26:09Bill, you keep talking about all this food, man.
26:11We're three hours into this game.
26:12Huh?
26:12Brother hungry.
26:13I'm sorry.
26:24Falcons back on offense.
26:27Uh-oh.
26:29Going deep downfield.
26:31Ball tip.
26:32Tip drill.
26:33Robert Rochelle's got it.
26:34And the Cowboys will go back on offense.
26:41And who was it that threw that?
26:42It was former Cowboys' seventh-round draft pick, Ben DiNucci.
26:47Ben DiNucci throws the ball up.
26:50Mike Smith says, give me those tips and overthrows.
26:53Robert Rochelle said, got to get those.
26:55Thank you very much.
26:56All right, you got Ben DiNucci back here.
26:59Okay, you're going to see him try to hit his deep post over the top.
27:01It's not going to work to his advantage because Mike Smith, the post safety, is able to see it.
27:05Able to tip it up.
27:06Robert Rochelle is the benefactor of it.
27:08Puts his foot in the ground.
27:09Gives him a little ooey.
27:10Let me get a little extra right there.
27:12Tries to make a big play.
27:13That is good team defense right there.
27:16If I can't win, Bill, I'm going to tip it up so that you can.
27:18Either way, the ball's going the other way.
27:20Dallas Cowboys' ball.
27:21Well, they let Ben DiNucci on his first play air it out, and things did not go well.
27:29He's only been with the Falcons for a few days, a couple of practices.
27:33And how many reps do you think he got in practice?
27:35And maybe that one.
27:37This was his first round.
27:38This was his first round.
27:39As an Atlanta Falcon, probably.
27:41From the 30-yard line.
27:46And the pass is complete and driven out of bounds.
27:49Let's get out of the sideline in Nicole Hutchison.
27:52Nicole?
27:53Guys, I'm joined by one of the newest running backs as well, Javante Williams.
27:57And, I mean, I would be remiss not to ask about this run game
28:00and the way that it has certainly improved from last week to now.
28:03Jaden Blue with a rushing touchdown.
28:05Phil Moppa as well.
28:06I mean, what's your thoughts on this run game and the way it's improved?
28:09Yeah, I feel like we made a big leap from last week.
28:13Coach wanted to see us improve physically.
28:15I feel like we did that today.
28:16The touchdowns, I feel like we protect the quarterback.
28:18And did a lot of good things in the passing game also.
28:22I want to talk about you.
28:22You came from Denver.
28:24You know, you obviously experience a different culture.
28:27And we've always heard about, you know,
28:29the ravings of head coach Brian Schottenheimer
28:31and the good things he's doing here.
28:33How would you compare this culture to others you've been around?
28:36I'd say it's much more like team-friendly.
28:39I feel like everybody really get along.
28:41It's more genuine.
28:42I feel like players actually hang out with each other off the field.
28:45So I like it.
28:47It's a family atmosphere.
28:49What excites you about, you know,
28:50when you look forward to this season ahead about this offense?
28:53What excites you about it?
28:55Yeah, we're going to talk from any way.
28:57We've got playmakers in every position.
28:59And this is going to be fun to see how we progress
29:01and how everything comes together.
29:03Do you have any goals in mind?
29:05Not right now.
29:05I just win the Super Bowl.
29:06That's it.
29:07All right, win the Super Bowl.
29:08Y'all heard Javonte Williams.
29:09All right, thank you so much.
29:10I appreciate you.
29:10Best to you guys.
29:11All right, Javonte Williams out of Wallace, North Carolina.
29:21I got a question for you, Bill.
29:22Let me do this first.
29:23Sideline Report presented by LG OLED Evo.
29:26Choose Perfection.
29:28Choose LG OLED Evo.
29:30Check out the best TV in the game at LG.com.
29:35Almost had a stretch.
29:36Wow, as Will Greer has helped up.
29:39My question for you.
29:40Yes.
29:41Everybody around Cowboys Nation understands how bad Mr. Jones wants a ring.
29:46Right?
29:47Now, we've seen the Rams have the detachable tops.
29:50We've seen the Philadelphia Eagles have the spring-loaded wings that come out.
29:54What magic trick do you think the Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl ring would have in it?
29:59Oh, my.
30:01You must have ideas.
30:02Oh, I've always have ideas.
30:04Okay, let's hear your ideas.
30:05I mean, how many stars do you think would be on that ring?
30:09Well, I feel like it will have, like, five world titles in the past.
30:14It'd be number six.
30:18Looking big stars.
30:19Oh, they're going to be ginormous.
30:20And Leak Davis on the carry.
30:22I mean, seriously, I mean, these rings are starting to have more and more tricks to them
30:26every single year, seemingly.
30:27They're getting bigger, have more tricks to them.
30:30I think Mr. Jones will go completely over the top.
30:34Yes, he would.
30:36No, that's a problem that he hopes to have on his hands this year.
30:45Brian Anger is on to punt.
30:49Fourth and long here.
30:50By the way, Javante Williams, as I mentioned, he's from Wallace, North Carolina.
30:53You know what his nickname is?
30:54What's that?
30:55Valedictorian.
30:55Oh, he was valedictorian in high school.
30:58Nice.
31:00Kind of like you?
31:01Yeah, right.
31:07Brian Anger.
31:08Pro Bowl a couple years ago.
31:12That's a bomb.
31:13Back to the 25-yard line and another special teams tackle.
31:20It's Justin Barron, the rookie out of Syracuse.
31:25So many players making a bid for a roster spot.
31:28Especially from Syracuse.
31:30Elijah Clark, the other one.
31:32You got Dak Prescott, number four.
31:34We're looking ahead 13 days from now.
31:36The Cowboys start the season at Philadelphia.
31:39How about the career rankings?
31:41And Dak Prescott needs 35 passing touchdowns to tie Tony Romo.
31:48Passing yards as well.
31:50Third on the team needs that number there.
31:54The franchise rankings.
31:55He's first in completion percentage and quarterback ranking.
31:58And by the end of this season, if all goes well, within reach,
32:02he could be the team leader in completions, passing touchdowns, and passing yards.
32:08Oh, my.
32:09Elijah Dotson breaking free.
32:13And run down.
32:18Mike Smith on the tackle.
32:19George Pickens, teaming with CeeDee Lamb, the dynamic duo.
32:29Yeah, these two together could be dangerous, Bill.
32:32Especially if you can establish a consistent running game.
32:35I'm not sure that a defense can really stop a tandem that's as dangerous as CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens
32:42just because their games complement each other.
32:45They both can run the entire route tree.
32:47We know how dangerous they both are with the ball in their hands.
32:51CeeDee Lamb's really good with yak yardage, meaning after he catches the ball, he's a dangerous guy.
32:56George Pickens is one of the best deep ball contested catch guys in the league.
33:01So, in terms of defensive approaches, if you want to have a too high safety,
33:07your best bet is to run the ball, right?
33:09If you can run the ball effectively, now all of a sudden you force a team into a single high coverage.
33:13Well, if you're in single high coverage, you can only double one guy.
33:16So, which receiver are you going to spend more attention on?
33:20And that's what Dallas Cowboys are hoping to present as a problem for opposing defenses.
33:29Lots of running room up the middle for Dotson to the 20-yard line.
33:32You know, you look at the potential of this dynamic duo at wide receiver and you go back through the years.
33:41You mentioned Drew Pearson earlier in the broadcast tonight when he was presenting the Tom Landry Legends Award to Darren Woodson the other day.
33:49In fact, it was Nicole who talked to him on the sideline at practice and we televised the practice.
33:54He was talking about, you know, it reminds me of when I teamed with Tony Hill.
33:58And back in the late 70s, those two both combined, they both had 1,000 yards receiving in a season.
34:06It hasn't happened all that often in Cowboys history.
34:08In fact, if you want to break it down to combined yards per game for a wide receiver duo,
34:21Des Bryant and Miles Austin in 2012 averaged combined 145 yards a game.
34:26Lance Renssel and Bob Hayes in 1967.
34:29It's a 14-game season back there.
34:31That's why we did this by combined yards per game.
34:33Cooper and Gallup in 2019, Lamb and Cookson a couple of years ago.
34:38Of course, that was the year that Dak finished second in the MVP voting.
34:42CD had 135 receptions that year to lead the league.
34:48Sean Corbin inside the five-yard line.
34:53Defense is getting gashed on his drive on the ground again.
34:56The clock winds down.
34:59We get close to the two-minute warning, but there is a Falcon down on the field.
35:04That's Jake Hansen back up center.
35:09This is the two-minute warning.
35:11And they take the clock all the way down to the two-minute warning.
35:14And we're back to AT&T Stadium in a moment.
35:19Spans across Texas.
35:20The Reliant bring the energy defensive play of the game.
35:24How about the rookie out of the University of Florida, the Gators, Shamar James?
35:28So much potential for this guy in this league.
35:33Shamar James with a pick.
35:36One of two for the Cowboys' defense in this game.
35:38He was so excited, Bill.
35:39He didn't know which end zone he wanted to celebrate in.
35:43But all seriousness, the Cowboys have a gem in him.
35:46He's somebody that's popped off the screen all throughout training camp
35:50and he's had an opportunity to shine here.
35:52You saw him on that interception there just mirroring in the quarterback's eyes
35:55to let you know how locked in he is on his assignments.
35:58When you do take care of your business, take care of your assignments,
36:00are where you're supposed to be, sometimes the ball just comes to you.
36:03So, from the four-yard line, Ben DiNucci, quarterback for the Falcons,
36:13give to Elijah Dotson for a yard.
36:19How about Israel Muquamu still in there?
36:23Talking about somebody who's got a lot of tick in his preseason.
36:26Goodness gracious, he's earned his keep in these three games.
36:31His versatility is big in that defensive backfield,
36:34especially when you consider where the Cowboys are
36:36with their injury situation at cornerback,
36:39his ability to play corner.
36:42He can cover big guys in the slot.
36:46He can play safety tonight.
36:50DiNucci, the fade to the corner of the end zone,
36:53and it goes incomplete.
36:54Robert Rochelle defending knocks it away from Nick Nash.
37:02Surprised not to see a flag on that one, Bill.
37:04Robert Rochelle was in position.
37:05You see him locked in right here, staying on the hip pocket.
37:08The one thing I don't believe that he did was get his eyes around.
37:11So, I'm not sure how that wasn't a flag,
37:13but Atlanta's not happy about that.
37:16Dallas is.
37:20So, third down.
37:26Off the middle, and airborne to the goal line.
37:31And not there.
37:33He might have misjudged that with a loop.
37:37He needed a triple jump, but not a long jump on that one.
37:40Either way, one heck of an effort.
37:42He takes off.
37:44Oh, almost gets there.
37:46I think in his head, he went a lot further than he did.
37:49Maybe if Mike Smith hadn't got a little hit on him,
37:51he would have levitated to the end zone.
37:54But Elijah Dodson out of Sacramento State.
37:56He was a college teammate of Deron Bland at Sacramento State.
38:01We're going to give him another try.
38:03He'll stay on the ground this time.
38:05And no call yet.
38:08No call yet.
38:10And the defense holds.
38:13How about that?
38:16On the ground or through the air,
38:18Justin Barron in the Dallas defense comes up with a goal line stand.
38:21How about that?
38:28It's not a bad deal.
38:30All right.
38:31Turning our attention to 13 days from now, Cowboys at Philadelphia,
38:35as we have 32 seconds left in this one tonight.
38:38Home opener against the Giants.
38:40Then you got the at the Bears.
38:42You got the Packers in September.
38:44And then flip it over to the second half of the season.
38:49And Thanksgiving week.
38:52You got the Eagles, followed by the Chiefs here at the Lions,
38:57the Vikings, the Chargers, and the Commanders.
39:02From Thanksgiving to Christmas.
39:04Happy holidays.
39:05Who did you make mad, Bill?
39:06Goodness gracious.
39:07Hopefully, the Dallas Cowboys are hoping that their roster is at their strongest point
39:13once they get there and that they're in a good position
39:15in terms of their record.
39:18But that is a tough sledding for sure.
39:20Trying to get out of the end zone is Will Greer to run this clock out here.
39:29And there's hugs all around.
39:31That's going to do it.
39:33All right.
39:34You think you're ready for the regular season?
39:36Well, Brian Schottenheimer got this preseason win.
39:40Now, in 13 days, he goes for a regular season win against the defending champs, Isaiah.
39:46Got those three games out your way.
39:47Preseason, you know exactly where you stand.
39:49You have an idea what your roster is going to be.
39:51Got a handful of days to decipher what that looks like.
39:55And start game planning.
39:56It's one thing to have preseason games at training camp.
39:58But now you turn your eyes to actually game planning for the Philadelphia Eagles,
40:01as you mentioned, the defending champs.
40:03It's going to be one heck of a test.
40:05But I know, of course, Schottenheimer is going to have his team ready for it.
40:08And cut down day in the NFL is on Tuesday.
40:11You've got to get down to the 53-man roster by 3 o'clock Tuesday.
40:15And, Isaiah, there's going to be some maneuvering going on around the league
40:20and also at the Star in Frisco the next few days.
40:25Great to have you along for the ride this preseason.
40:28For Isaiah Stanback and Nicole Hutchison, this is Bill Jones.
40:32Thanks for joining us here for Dallas Cowboys Preseason Football.
