ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಬಂಗಾಳದ ರಾಜಕೀಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಸ ವಿವಾದ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿ ಸುವೇಂದು ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಮನೆಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಗೆ ಬರದಂತೆ ಮಾಡುವುದಾಗಿ ಬಹಿರಂಗವಾಗಿ ಬೆದರಿಕೆ ಹಾಕಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಮಮತಾ ಬ್ಯಾನರ್ಜಿ ಆರೋಪಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.ಈ ಹೇಳಿಕೆಗೆ ತೀವ್ರ ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯಿಸಿರುವ ಮಮತಾ ಬ್ಯಾನರ್ಜಿ, “ಇದು ಸಂವಿಧಾನ ಕನಸು ಕಂಡ ಭಾರತವೇ?” ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಶ್ನಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ರಾಜಕೀಯ ವಿರೋಧಿಗಳ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮೊಟಕುಗೊಳಿಸುವಂತಹ ಹೇಳಿಕೆಗಳು ಪ್ರಜಾಪ್ರಭುತ್ವಕ್ಕೆ ಅಪಾಯಕಾರಿ ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಆರೋಪಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಈ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆಯನ್ನು “ಅಪಾಯಕಾರಿ ಸರ್ವಾಧಿಕಾರಿ ಕ್ಷಣ” ಎಂದು ಬಣ್ಣಿಸಿರುವ ಮಮತಾ, ಅಧಿಕಾರದ ಅಹಂಕಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಜನರೇ ಉತ್ತರ ನೀಡುತ್ತಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

West Bengal politics has witnessed a fresh political confrontation after Mamata Banerjee accused Suvendu of publicly threatening to prevent her from leaving her home.
Mamata questioned whether such remarks are consistent with the constitutional values of India and described the situation as a “dangerous authoritarian moment.”
She also questioned who has the authority to restrict the freedom of political opponents in a constitutional democracy, warning that political arrogance will ultimately face the people’s response.
