00:00We somehow have gotten roped into Lima's deal with the Shador fans, right?
00:07I don't know, maybe it's because we're the pro, we're seen as the pro Shador show on this station.
00:14I would prefer people pin us as the anti-Dashaun show on this station.
00:20Yeah, I thought we were trending in the right direction there.
00:21Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:21You know, I thought that's, we are definitely more anti-Dashaun than we are just about anything in life.
00:25But it's interesting. Listen, in truth, because I know, like, I don't really want this to turn,
00:32I'm not willing to have, like, a real beef with Lima or Lima and Ken over this quarterback room.
00:39I'm really not.
00:41So you're going to take Ken's advice and not let this quarterback room get in the way of friendships?
00:45Well, but then he had a meltdown, like, two days later, which didn't really make a lot of sense.
00:48But that's about the meltdown. That's not about these quarterbacks.
00:51But, like, there is a part of this where it's like, I mean, I understand.
00:55Like, Lima gets a lot of hate from Shador fans, and I think that has bugged him on a professional,
01:03or sorry, on a personal level.
01:04I know, but why does he think we're grouped into that?
01:07I don't know.
01:08Because sometimes it feels like he does think that, like, he targets it as if we're, like,
01:10a sycophant or something, and we're in that.
01:13Have we, have we, I haven't tweeted in a year.
01:16Find me the Shador tweets.
01:17Listen, I think, I think any, getting on the wrong side of any group.
01:21I like the guy, but what are we doing here?
01:22Getting on the wrong side of any group stinks.
01:24It does.
01:26All right?
01:26And especially when social media is involved.
01:28Social media should be fun.
01:29It should be lighthearted.
01:31And certain people, when they hear negative things, cannot handle that.
01:35I just think the extremists on both sides, kind of like in a lot of things in life, are just
01:39kind of ruining it.
01:40Well, but I also think Lima targets Shador fans, so I think it's a little tough to then turn around
01:45and be like, you know, like, I am empathetic to it, but to a point here.
01:49But Lima took a big shot at us the other day about acceptance with where the Browns are at quarterback.
01:57I wanted to use the term hubris on the radio to go after ownership.
02:01Oh, you keep doing this.
02:02We've got to host a show with those guys on next Thursday.
02:04The ego involved.
02:05The ego.
02:07So Todd Munkin's ego is going to get in the way of him trying to win and the only chance
02:11he's ever going to have to be a head coach.
02:13This is the oldest sports talk media trope, sports talk radio trope, which is if someone does something I don't
02:21agree with or understand, I am going to say they're trying to be the smartest person in the room.
02:26Oh, so now you're calling them hacks.
02:28I did not say that.
02:29You're putting words in my mouth.
02:31Because if you just listen to their show in the afternoon and you didn't listen to anything else or see
02:36anything else or talk to anybody, you would think Deshaun Watson was on a scale of one to a hundred,
02:43a two in training camp.
02:45And Shor Sanders was a ninety nine.
02:46And yet people that were actually there every single day, people that have talked to Brown staffers, people that have
02:52talked to the teams they went up against, they're all like, no, Deshaun Watson was better.
02:56So what reality are we living in?
02:57And I think we're just we're rooting so hard that we won't accept the reality.
03:02And then we'll throw things like ego and hubris and say they're trying to be the smartest people in the
03:06room when maybe Deshaun Watson was just better.
03:08I would actually say the oldest trope in sports talk media is you have something critical to say about a
03:14team or a player and you must be rooting against them, which I've heard is the only card line has
03:21to play anymore.
03:21Oh, you don't like the James Harden trade?
03:24You're rooting for it to fail.
03:25Well, same thing.
03:26He's accusing fans of already doing that with Deshaun Watson.
03:29I think Browns fans are smart enough to cheer for their team and boo Deshaun Watson.
03:34But I think the point here is, one, all Lima really does is cite people, which is a very generic
03:39statement.
03:40Oh, well, we've talked to people.
03:43Oh, so specific.
03:44Which people are that are just the people that agree with you?
03:47Because right now I've got some guy that played at BYU that has people inside the Browns organization that are
03:54all behind Deshaun.
03:56Coincidentally, he didn't like Shador before the draft.
03:58I've also got people, LaShawn McCoy, that's saying Shador's got the ear of everyone else.
04:04So quite frankly, all of the noise around that is just farting into the ether.
04:08Maybe we do need a fart corner for that.
04:10But I think specific to this, I have never said Shador looked like a 97.
04:16I said Shador looked fine.
04:19That is as tepid of an endorsement as we could possibly have.
04:22I think solid is what we came up with.
04:24I think solid was the term that we had.
04:26Fine is a different connotation.
04:27But it also, I mean, it does kind of imply as if we didn't spend eight days out there ourselves
04:31and weren't actually out there doing, you know, days and days and days of watching these quarterbacks throw.
04:36Like, I mean, at some point, yes, I can rely on some of the beat reporters,
04:39which, by the way, some of the beat reporters have said Shador had a better camp than Deshaun Watson.
04:43I know it's not your favorite beat reporters, but some have.
04:46And so, like, the idea that we can't, I don't know, critically think and then see with our own eyes
04:49what we've seen out there, like, I just don't, okay, fine.
04:53If you don't want to trust what we say, that's fine.
04:55Do your own thing.
04:56That's the point of all this.
04:58What I'm understanding is that I should trust the Browns in the messaging that they put out.
05:04And listen, I don't mean this as a personal statement.
05:07The Browns lie because they can and because they're trying to sell tickets.
05:11That makes sense.
05:12Like, teams are not forthcoming with their messaging, whether it's Cleveland, Carolina, Houston, or anywhere else.
05:18That's just how pro sports operate.
05:20Yeah, exactly.
05:21Not even an NFL problem.
05:22That's just teams want the rosiest version of what they want out there so that people will not lose interest
05:30because losing interest means less money.
05:33So I guess my thing here is I've said a million times that I am a trust in Todd man,
05:39but I will go so far as almost anything other than Deshaun Watson-related trust.
05:46I don't trust him because I don't trust Deshaun Watson.
05:49Right.
05:50That doesn't mean I'm rooting for Deshaun to fail.
05:52No, if he fails, I want to get this thing over as quick as possible because I think there's actually
05:57some talent on this team.
05:58But it would be the – I think it would be the most insincere thing in the world for me
06:02to come out and be like,
06:03well, I guess Deshaun's better than Shador.
06:06I guess I have to accept it because the Browns are saying it.
06:09Because the Browns told us.
06:10So we just believe him.
06:11Okay.
06:12The same team that did everything last year the way that they did and operated that quarterback raised the way
06:15they did.
06:16As if teams do not have agendas in how they run.
06:21The biggest myth in all of sports is every team is trying to win every second of every day.
06:27No.
06:28Some teams, especially ones that are operated by very, very smart people, view seasons as big germ labs.
06:36They're trying a bunch of stuff out and see what works and what doesn't work.
06:39That's part of why I think, by the way, that the Browns haven't won consistently is they're not thinking about
06:44winning enough.
06:45And they're thinking about, like, what if we tried this at quarterback?
06:48And what if we treated the start of the season?
06:51We'll give Deshaun his due.
06:52And then Shador will get his due.
06:53And we're planning on playing three quarterbacks this year.
06:56But I just – listen.
06:58There will come a time this year if Deshaun looks good and then Shador plays and Shador doesn't look good,
07:03where I'll have to eat crow and say, all right, they saw something I didn't.
07:07I don't know how that scenario happens unless Deshaun looks good and then is injured.
07:10Is that the idea?
07:11Because, like, Deshaun looking good and then Shador playing, that's not – it doesn't go in concert with each other.
07:16Yes.
07:16But, like, I'm – if that happens, you'll hear it here first.
07:20I don't – nor are you somebody that when something comes to our feet, we just evade responsibility for something
07:28we've said previously.
07:29Right?
07:30We don't try and change the conversation like some other radio show hosts do.
07:35My bad is something I have no problem saying.
07:38Yeah, and if we're just wrong at the end of the day –
07:40I would just rather go with Shador.
07:40If we're just wrong at the end of the day about Shador, then we're wrong about Shador and it is
07:43what it is.
07:44And that's fine.
07:45And I just – until Deshaun Watson shows us that he's a much better quarterback, I'm just not going to
07:49believe it.
07:50We watch Deshaun play.
07:51This isn't some new person that's in here that we're not as familiar with.
07:55This isn't some of the – I mean, we've watched Deshaun for three years either be really, really bad or
08:00then get injured and be really bad.
08:01I just – I know where this is going.
08:03And by the way, there's a chance we're all wrong.
08:05There's a chance that the Deshaun Watson Politburo in the mornings is wrong about him.
08:12And at the same time, I'm also wrong about Shador Sanders being a quality quarterback in the NFL.
08:18And so that enters the other tinier group of people that exist right now, which is –
08:23Like Dylan Gabriel-sized people?
08:24No, it's like a – yeah.
08:25It's like a defense of the Browns almost.
08:27They're a defensive munkin in this process to be like, well, if both your options aren't good, then what else
08:32are they supposed to do?
08:33And that might end up being the end result.
08:34Which, by the way, the answer is still not start the guy with toxic history with Cleveland fans who just
08:39completely farted all over Cleveland fans.
08:41But there's a reason why most of our conversations end with the 2027 draft and us talking about a 2027
08:46quarterback is because most people, if you really get down to the heart of it, believe that's where the Browns
08:51are going to end up.
08:52And that both options are – it's going to be a long shot for either one to succeed as is
08:55anyway.
08:56I just prefer to see one of them than the other.
08:58And I think one of them gives you and Shador a better chance than Deshaun.
09:01Yeah.
09:01All I'm really asking for either Deshaun or Shador is functional quarterback play.
09:06One guy might be able to do it.
09:08The other guy doesn't seem to be a functioning human being on any given day.
09:12216-474-0092.
09:15So the Deshaun Watson Politburo in the mornings is saying we need to accept that Deshaun Watson is better than
09:21Shador Sanders.
09:23Should acceptance be in our hearts?
09:25Let's go with Alex in Richfield.
09:27Welcome to the show, Alex.
09:29Hey, what's going on, fellas?
09:30How are you doing today?
09:31Doing all right, buddy.
09:32What you got for us?
09:34So I'm kind of with Jonathan on this.
09:37So I guess we're in the minority here.
09:40But I truly believe that Deshaun, they don't have any timeline, no games, nothing like that, that they're going to
09:50start being concerned.
09:51They're going to let him play out maybe even longer than eight games.
09:56I feel like the only way that we get to see Shador Sanders is, like you guys just kind of
10:03said, if Deshaun, which, if history repeats itself, he's going to get injured at some point.
10:08Like, it's just, that's just what it is.
10:11Let's just be honest.
10:12It happens year after year after year.
10:13Yeah.
10:14So I truly do feel that the Browns don't want to pull Deshaun by any means, even if they're losing
10:21games.
10:22Because what does losing games equal?
10:24Of that top quarterback next year, whoever it may be.
10:29And, unfortunately, for people like myself, who, you know, we root for Shador, you know, whatever, he's a good, you
10:36know, he's, he brings a little bit of light to this organization, I guess.
10:40I think that's why the fans, you know, gravitate to him so much, especially after what we're currently dealing with.
10:48But Shador, unfortunately or fortunately for him, I don't see him being part of this organization very long.
10:55And that's all I have to say.
10:57So you guys tell me what you think, and we'll kind of go from there.
11:00Thanks, guys.
11:00Thanks, Alex.
11:01Alex, we appreciate you.
11:02I do think that you and I both might be protecting our feelings in one way or another.
11:08I think you're protecting your feelings a little bit by broadcasting the most amount of games that he could play
11:13because you're prepared to be as pissed off as you possibly can be.
11:17Where I'm thinking, what's the least amount of games that is likely for him to play so that I don't
11:23get as mad as you're getting?
11:24No, I mean, again, and part of this is like, and that's why I have to, I know it's going
11:27to get exhausting, but I have to keep clarifying.
11:29It's not what I would do.
11:30It's what I think the Browns will do.
11:32And it's just that, yeah, the Browns find a way to piss me off constantly.
11:35But I just, I don't, I don't think the Browns view any part of this the way that I view
11:40it.
11:40And so if I believe that, then I believe that they think that Deshaun Watson deserves more than two games
11:44before they pull the rug out underneath them and say, we're done here.
11:47Do we need to accept Deshaun Watson is better than Shador Sanders?
11:51There will be a time where I might have to call a day on that conversation.
11:55It's not going to be before either of them starts a regular season game this year.
