00:23you here obviously we've been talking wall to wall to sean watson for a couple weeks now i
00:29wouldn't recommend it but we are doing it i'm just curious where you stand and what you've heard
00:34i tend to think the browns are going to have a short leash with him because i'm i'm not sure
00:40how
00:40how it's going to look on on uh you know two sundays from now my partner thinks they're going
00:44to have a longer leash what are you hearing i think probably somewhere in the middle longer
00:50leash as in what do you think six weeks eight weeks half a season i said eight weeks because
00:55i'm thinking here is six weeks but the browns take things longer than they need to often i i just
01:00think they're going to it's going to need to be undeniable for them that he's not the old version
01:04of deshaun watson and i think that might take him six maybe eight weeks to figure out and i'm a

01:09weaker two weaker i yeah i think i would say somewhere in the middle let's call it you know if
01:18if after a
01:19month after the first month of the season he hasn't played well i think you could see i don't know
01:24if you'd see
01:25one directly after two i know there's some scheduling stuff too is their first home game week
01:29three is that right yeah week three yeah yeah so so you know you have that element too um i

01:36when the decision was made it probably surprised some people but my feeling and my information going
01:44into it was deshaun was going to be the guy and then i think after the you know public comments
01:52the interview perhaps you know there was uh some more thought of maybe we maybe we end up going with
01:59uh shador but i think his experience will play a role and i think there is some hope
02:07internally that he can operate the offense the right way one of the things that has been told to me
02:14that
02:14i think is interesting is you know kevin safansky's offense much different than what this iteration
02:22will be in the sense that his offense was a lot of play action a lot of you know significant
02:30reads
02:31whereas i think this offense i i would expect the ball um i would expect him to be able to
02:38rely more on
02:38some feel and um timing and i i wonder if that can't make a difference i don't know if the
02:46deshaun watson
02:48that everyone loves in houston when he was one of the best young quarterbacks in football was still there
02:53but i i have to believe based on what i've been told that there is some version of the quarterback

03:00that that is at least capable of operating the office and then in sanders's case you know if
03:07i'm cleveland at some point i really do want to know whether or not this guy can be a starter

03:13don't know if we know that yet you know there's a lot of people in the organization i'm curious what
03:18the fans think a lot of people in the organization that really feel that he he can do it and
03:25that there
03:25is an aura to him and an ability to run an offense once he really gets gets a hold of
03:32it and learns it
03:32so i i'm i'm fascinated is the fan base completely shifted toward toward chador or is it still split
03:40oh yeah no it's it's i nick i would say leaning heavy chador yeah deshaun watson's pretty pretty well not
03:49well he's just disliked in the city that's there's no other way to put it and and and jordan it's
03:53not even
03:53just the off-field stuff it's the on-field stuff too this is now year five of deshaun and no
03:58payoff
03:58whatsoever yeah yeah i i hear that i mean i think you know if you consider the fact that
04:06they're gonna have a ton of cap in the next couple years here and then next year's draft class
04:12specifically a quarterback and i'm the furthest thing fellas from a quarterback guru trust me but
04:18if you talk to anybody around the league they'll tell you there's a handful of potentially really
04:23good maybe great quarterbacks in the 26 27 class 27 class and so if you're cleveland you really do
04:30need to figure out if if chador can be a guy a bz guy and at some point you'd have
04:37to imagine that
04:37this season he'll get an opportunity jordan it's interesting we've had countless debates
04:44about win totals and expectations versus uh vegas uh you know i actually somehow think my partner and
04:52i have ended up on the uh the more sunny side he says six wins i actually think they have
04:57a chance to
04:58win eight games because i love everything but quarterback and the schedule from everything you
05:04everyone you've talked to as an nfl insider here i'm just curious what what's kind of the expectation
05:10that you're hearing for this browns team is it is it top three top five pick i don't i don't
05:17think
05:17they're a top no i don't think so i think they're going to be more competitive than that and i
05:21don't
05:21know if that's if how the fans would think about you know having a team that flirts with 500 i
05:28think
05:29defensively they're going to be very very good i i love the the hire of mike grutenberg from atlanta
05:36he's players love him coaches love him he lives in the building i think he was a great choice uh
05:42for
05:42for dc and then in terms of todd munkin you know that was a hire that i think surprised a
05:49lot of
05:49people but it probably shouldn't have in retrospect in the sense that you know when when john harbaugh
05:58went to new york his one of his top choices if not his top choice was bringing in munkin to
06:05to be
06:06his guy to be his coordinator and i think that should tell you something i think what also should
06:11tell you something is that when he left baltimore there were a lot of folks in that organization who
06:16felt like he probably has had his his chance and maybe he's too old to be a head coach but
06:24he probably
06:24should have gotten that chance and then cleveland all of a sudden when things i think went south with
06:29udinski and he decided to withdraw and go back to jacksonville i think they pivoted in a pretty
06:35quickly and swiftly to todd munkin because of his ability to just i would just say he keeps it very
06:41real he's very honest players tend to like that and i think what you're going to see at the very
06:46least is an organized football team and a competitive team so do you agree with the idea
06:51though that there's a for everyone that thinks this is a tanking season it's not that it's more
06:56they're going to try to win as many games as they can and then ultimately i mean if they can't

07:00there they can't get there but the focus is winning i think that's fair yeah i do um you know
07:07i got so many so much draft capital from the miles garrett trade and i don't think we can overstate
07:13the impact of jared verse i mean nobody is miles garrett but i was talking to brayden fisk about this
07:18who's obviously was team with verse at florida state and we were just talking about what kind of
07:24player he is and how relentless he is and his professional approach i think jared verse is a
07:30bare minimum a 12 sack guy this year the worst case scenario but i think he can get to 14

07:35so you think about that and then all the draft capital and obviously it's it's really cool to
07:41think okay we should go out and be a top five pick team and get a franchise quarterback but what
07:46if
07:46the browns won eight games what if they won nine games and todd munkin maybe was the guy i think
07:51that'd be pretty cool as well oh yeah that's what i want i don't i'm sick of losing jordan i

07:56i don't believe in tanking of course i just don't believe in tanking i think i think i guess you

08:02get where you want to go but getting out of there i think is damn near impossible yeah i mean

08:10i'm trying to think of an nfl team that has really successfully tanked um it's not common it's it's also

08:18think it's a lot harder to quote unquote tank in the nfl just because like i don't know i mean

08:24it's such a small sample size of games you know in the nba it's talking about 82 games and teams
08:30could tank and there's obviously a draft lottery but in the nfl like players don't take the only way
08:35that you could like successfully tank is if the organization just decided we're going to flat out
08:41put out bad players on the football field browns have a lot of good players you know i mean you
08:46mentioned the quarterback and i know that's a question mark but you know they don't need the
08:51quarterback to be an a or a b if they can get a c a c minus at a quarterback
08:56i think that's a that's a
08:58very competitive football team and i i don't know man i just feel like they're going to surprise i've
09:03said this in the last couple weeks everyone's killed me for it but i do feel like they're going
09:06to surprise some people well we love hearing that uh and specifically then let's talk about any of the
09:11the rookies or anyone you think is going to be part of the reason why you mentioned jared verse
09:14obviously but for the rookies whether that's fano whether that's concepcion whether it's denzel
09:19boston is there anybody that really kind of stands out to you i mean the two receivers concepcion
09:26is just you've probably seen it in camp he's super electric in a way that they just haven't seen he's
09:32got that juice after the catch he's they and they love him i mean they love him they think he's
09:37a star
09:38and in boston is like your prototypical x you know six four 220 you know i'm i'm not i'm from
09:44seattle i'm a big husky fan i grew up a husky and so i i'm biased so i and i've
09:48seen him a lot
09:49denzel boston but he is a hell of a player you know he he runs routes he's got strong hands
09:54he he will be a really good receiver for a long time in this league so those two guys and
10:00then it's
10:00fano from from utah um he's one of those dudes too that like you know we kept hearing in the
10:07draft
10:08process that there's not this like great offensive tackle or guard or whatever there's not a great
10:15lineman i i think fano quietly was the best one though um you know the miami kid that went to
10:21the
10:22giants good too but fano was a legitimate top 10 pick and you know he's he's going to be an
10:28anchor for
10:28them so i mean those three picks i loved and then obviously year two of swessinger is you can't
10:34overstate i'll be interested to see too what they do with harold fannin and what kind of role he has
10:39if he had a really good almost quiet rookie year and i would love to see him build on that
10:43and
10:44judkins as well i mean like i said it's a lot of good young players jordan it's interesting you know
10:48we're talking about this i think this season is much more interesting uh for the browns than i think
10:53i think some people just look at it and go nope they're gonna be bad we'll talk next year i
10:57i see a lot
10:58more variants here but i just look at the afc north and i feel the same way like i'm not
11:03entirely sure
11:04what to make in cincinnati new head coaches in baltimore and pittsburgh for the first time in 20
11:10years like i you could you could spin me a bit of yarn here that the afc north is back
11:16you could also
11:17spin me a bit of yarn that it's going to have a repeat of last year one playoff team and
11:22that's going
11:22to be a one and done team you yeah you could go both ways um i think most people inside
11:29the nfl think
11:29it will be a good division like you know minter going back to baltimore you always have that first
11:35year coach that gives you you know a lot of pop you know seattle had it with mike mcdonald they
11:41won
11:4110 games and then rabel had it last year with with the windland i tend to think minter is going
11:47to
11:47really uh rejuvenate that team especially the defense which was like bottom third at best i mean
11:53they were really bad last year especially by their standards cincinnati is i think the most interesting
11:58team because they've been really bad at the start the last three years like oh and three one and four
12:04two and five there's definitely a sentiment in cincinnati that they significantly improve the defense
12:11they don't have to have joe burrow outscore people 30 points a game and then obviously they're just
12:17they're finally healthy um and then pittsburgh i think is a wild card as well but i i actually think
12:23it's going to be a pretty competitive division um do you ask me like who gets the biggest jolt though
12:28i think baltimore is going to surprise a lot of people i did want to ask you we you know
12:32we got
12:32ohio state starting tomorrow and we're in buckeye country and i i saw you talk to geno smith and
12:37garrett wilson and keshaun johnson and geno smith said he thinks jeremiah smith as he told you this is
12:41he's going to be the best ever uh that i mean that's high praise that's what he that's what
12:47yeah well keep in mind they're cousins so there is i i said that you know i said there's a
12:52little
12:52bias there and he's known him obviously since he was a baby um but i actually thought what garrett
12:58said wilson was equally as interesting because geno said he he's always felt like this guy is going to
13:04be a superstar but then garrett said that when he got on campus uh jeremiah like basically there was
13:11this there was so much talk about who's this kid you know who's this who's this super talented dude
13:16and how like is he really that good is he is he because there's such a lineage and pedigree of
13:21ohio state receivers particularly the last several years and he said that he thought he was like a man
13:27amongst boys and you know you hear that term but then you actually watch jeremiah smith and you just
13:34think i don't know if i've seen anything like this and the comp we sort of came up with was
13:39you know
13:40maybe the best receiver to come out since calvin johnson queshawn of course said since he came
13:45out when he was the number one pick 30 years ago but that's the company you're talking about with
13:49jeremiah smith i mean he's he is as well reviewed a prospect as as it gets and you know he
13:57really
13:57will be in the conversation for the number one pick which hasn't happened since queshawn um three
14:02decades ago jordan obviously we're keeping an eye on miles garrett and the rams after the big trade
14:08in june and i know you had brayden fiske on pretty darn good football player there on the defensive
14:13line on the schultz report here recently i was trying to think about any team that might come
14:18close to having the pressure that the rams have on them aaron donald unretires the mcduffie and
14:25garrett trade and last year you were a couple plays away from being in the super bowl that's how close
14:31you
14:31were in the nfc uh title game i'm just like can you think of any team anywhere near the pressure
14:37that the rams have going into this year it reminds me of the like the so-called super teams
14:43of like the early 2000s i mean philly had one of those when they got to and they couldn't quite
14:49get
14:49it done against the patriots in the super bowl um you know a lot of here's the difference
14:56all these like super teams i mentioned i mentioned the eagles but you could go back to the commanders
15:01when they got albert hainsworth and they had all this ton of money in that defense i think
15:05angela hall as well all these teams were free agency based you know i mean the the rams did it
15:12they they made two massive trades with mcduffie and garrett and then they had the all-time
15:18you know unbelievable moment when aaron donald comes out of retirement so really no free agents per se
15:24i mean they they signed a couple including jalen watson who's going to start opposite mcduffie they
15:28were teammates in kansas city but by all in all this is a team that is going to be made
15:35up of guys
15:35who have been there and then a couple a couple of trades so there's a tremendous amount of pressure
15:40uh i don't think any team is better equipped than the rams just because of the success they've had
15:45and you know i've gotten to know aaron donald really well and and throughout the process of him
15:49deliberating coming back or not we had talked about whether or not this defense like like how elite
15:57could this defense be and i think the combination of not only him and garrett but you know byron
16:04young and fisk and the secondary and the backers it really it's it's incredible but then you go to
16:10the offensive side of the ball and it's the same thing i mean stafford is playing the best football
16:17he's ever played they have two terrific receivers they've handled offensive line running backs they
16:23don't have a weakness um i just love the team i mean seattle seattle is going to be really tough

16:30well but the rams have a lot of pressure i just don't think they feel it i don't think they
16:35feel
16:35the pressure because of the coach and the organization jordan i gotta tell you you agreed to come on on
